My aunt took me to this restaurant last week for a belated birthday treat. The atmosphere was warm and cozy. She had the "Happy Hours", Halibut fish and I had the Spaghetti Pomodora. Service was spotty and had to stop her to order food but learned from her talking to other customers that she was late waiting on Home Depot to deliver her new washer and dryer. The "smash burger" on the bar menu was not smashed and severely overpriced for a burger with no sides. Tasted pretty good but not $17 good. Wife had the wedge salad with chicken. The chicken was like jerky it was so over done. Could not have been more different than the last time she got it so consistency is an issue here. The strawberry burrata was very good. Was looking forward to eating here again since a visit in 2019 was great. Would not go again. Sunday night 12/22/25: had only one can of prosecco in stock. Martini was lousy. Greens and beans presented nicely but had an odd taste and were sent back to the kitchen because they were cold. The lasagna was cold and was sent back to the kitchen. It was also swimming in sauce. The as-advertised gluten-free charcuterie board was served with wheat based crackers. How hard is it to buy GF crackers? Eggplant rollitini was good but not great. We had an excellent waiter. The decor was nicely done with soft music in the background. EXCEPT -- We were totally shocked to see erotica paintings on the wall. Not something we wanted to see while dining. My husband and I just moved to the area recently and had never been to Michael Alberini's but had heard some good things from people who had been there "some time ago". As it turned out, we were extremely disappointed in nearly every aspect of the experience. It was my husband's birthday, and we decided to have an early (4pm) dinner there to celebrate. The appearance of the restaurant upon arrival was impressive, with racks and racks of wines for sale. The dining room ambience was good but could use updating. Soft Christmas music was playing in the background. Overall, the service was almost too attentive. We were there to spend time with each other, not engage in a social event with staff. We ordered glasses of wines from the menu, none of which were familiar and which turned out to be average without much personality. Our Thai calamari appetizer was nice but had a bit of a fishy taste. For our entrees, my husband ordered the filet and I the prime rib special which I requested rare but was told the rarest I could get was "midi rare", whatever that is. I agreed to try it. Both entrees arrived together, and I could immediately see the prime rib was just under well done and nowhere near rare. I sent it back for a rarer piece, and meanwhile my husband proceeded to eat his filet before it got cold. He was nearly finished when my second overcooked prime rib arrived. I told the server it was not as rare as I wanted, and she said the chef told her it was the rarest I could get. I find it incredible that the prime rib would already be overdone when I had arrived at the time the restaurant opened and was the first customer of the evening to order it. In addition to being overcooked, it was tough, as was my husband's filet. Meanwhile, the volume of the "soft Christmas music" had been pumped up to a level one would find in a cheap bar, not a romantic dining location. I only wanted to finish dinner and leave. Michael Alberini came to our table to ask how our meals were, and we explained our disappointment. He was gracious and offered to pay for our meals, which we declined. He apologized and asked us to come back again and ask for him personally. We appreciate his offer, but we have no plans to return. read more

Whenever I visit family from LA I often eat at Alberini's. Tonight was a huge disappointment. A $40 filet had a burnt crust, well done and tough. The white fish francais was literally frozen fish sticks with an over salted lemon butter sludge. We politely told our server about the issue. Chefs response was a free desert . With so many beloved local establishments closing, you'd think there would be hyper sensitivity to dishes being served, especially at that price point. Bummer experience all around. read more

Essence was my server and she was phenomenal! My glass never went empty! She was extremely attentive! The ambiance is nice would be a lovely date night location!! The food is everything I hoped for and more! The bread comes to the table nice and warm. The fresh wedge of butter tastes fresh like they are making it in the back. I ordered the Chicken piccata and It was very authentic!! From the delicious sauce to the perfect mushroom and artichokes!! The chicken was so tender I didn't need my knife!! Will I be back! OMG! The Baseball sirloin is outstanding!! It came with a choice of side ( I chose Yukon mashed potatoes) and a salad (I chose house salad with vinaigrette dressing). What a great meal!! They served it with a basket of warm focaccia bread right out of the oven and a plate of butter. This was heaven! You have to try this place. Took my father out for his birthday, we made a reservation earlier in the week but apparently they didn't have it written down. For a place that charges over $30 a plate for dinner, I was really not impressed. They also charge a 3.5% processing fee for running credit cards. My stepmothers steak was over cooked. I asked for medium rare and got rare with a sear that appeared to be an afterthought. Side salads were a la carte, which is insane when you are buying a $48/plate dinner (got the NY strip with black truffle butter and yukon potato's). Both the steak and potatoes were bland. Overall disappointed that I paid so much for the most mediocre "fine dining" I've ever experienced. Dinner for 5 came out to a little under $280. read more

This has been my parents favorite restaurant for awhile. I went once a few years ago and wasn't impressed. This time was a lot better. We had a larger party of 7. We started with calamari and lettuce wraps. The calamari was very good. It was lightly fried and not overly oily. The lettuce wraps were mushy and not very appealing to me. Stick to ordering these at PF Chang's. The bread was very soft and had good flavor. The house salad was pretty basic/plain. I was not a fan of the homemade house dressing a balsamic. It was incredibly acidic and "burnt" my mouth. I ordered the scampi filet medallions. It wasn't what I was expecting, but was good. It was 3 small scoops of mashed potatoes with a small filet medallion on top of each with tiny shrimp in a scampi sauce. It was tasty, but I wish there had been more mashed potatoes. My hubby ordered the lamb rack and that was good too. Not gamey at all and broken into small Arvid's with the 3 serving approach too. Someone else ordered spaghetti and meatballs. Sauce had good flavor and meatballs were very large. read more

Mike was an excellent server - he kept the Daou Rose bottle we bought flowing. He gets a "5" for Service, but I give the food a "4" because my husband wasn't ecstatic about the fish francais he ordered (he's picky and a very good cook himself, so it's difficult to please his palate). My mini wedge salad was exceptional with excellent thick fresh bacon and cherry tomatoes over just the right amount of creamy and chunky bleu cheese dressing. My Miso Salmon over a bed of white rice and Asian sautéed veggies was very good and the right portion for me. Spicy enough for my taste buds. All in all, we will continue to return as we have yet to explore the menu in its entirety, as this was our 2nd visit here. read more

Don't eat at this place! They are thieves! On May 14th 2024 I went here to celebrate my graduation. I received graduation cards with cash inside and forgot them on the table after dinner. I came back 2 minutes later and they were gone. They were stolen by the staff members. When I asked to view the cameras I was told I wasn't allowed too. The manager came back and said that he wasn't able to see anything on the Camera footage. They will steal from you and say that the camera footage isn't visible to see anything on it! We love Alberini's and have been frequent guests since moving to the area about 5 years ago. I've been remiss in writing a review for our dine-in experience but wanted to take a moment to write one about the takeout especially after seeing a less than stellar one written in April. We have gotten takeout several times and the food was every bit as good as at the restaurant. To limit our trips out we generally get 2 entrees from the specials list and then two servings of the family style meals to have the next day along with a bunch of sides. Everything has been nicely packed and fully up to Alberini's usual standards. The prices on the family meals are fantastic so if you haven't tried them before, take advantage of the opportunity to get the food at a fraction of the usual price. Sides are huge so get a couple extra servings to have for leftovers too! This is a great way to extend your food supplies with high restaurant quality food without breaking the budget. read more

We tried Alberini's for a 2nd time and if confirmed we won't be going back. We stopped in for an afternoon cocktail and appetizers. We were the only ones at the bar and there were only 2 other tables. Our bartender greeted us, and made our drinks. My husband's Manhattan was not good and didn't include cherries. My raspberry cosmo was like a bad drink you would get at a nightclub. We ordered the stuffed peppers and arancini, which I had the last time I was there. The plates were hotter than the food. The arancini was sent back because it was cold in the middle and seemed to be the previous nights leftovers. New ones were provided quickly, but still only warm. The peppers were ok. The only reason a 2 was given was because of the cool vibe. The decor is what I think would be in a 1960s dinner club. If they don't update their cocktails and food, they won't have any new business after the older 60-80s crowd no longer frequents the establishment. Sad because there is so much potential. read more

I'm just a simple man with simple taste and wanted to bring my girlfriend to a fancy dinner and treat her right. This place seemed very promising, and I was extremely excited to try it; however, I couldn't be more wrong. My girlfriend got the steak, somewhere around $40 for this thing, and it was not good at all. How do I put this? Well, it was extremely undercooked. The steak was ordered as a medium well, and we ended up getting something between blue (practically raw) and rare. We were disgusted. They offered to (bump it up), after we had already cut it up, looking at how raw it was. They did not offer a new steak, nor a refund. Michael Alberinis is my absolute FAVORITE place to dine at. The Wedge Oh my god the EXPLOSION of taste !!! Flavors of bitter and sweet . Fresh lettuce and their dressing. I could chug a half gallon it's so damned tasty. I get the sesame chicken over rice with hot peppers.. S O B FABULOUS Just FANTASTIC. And Mr Alberini himself checked in on us. Just to see if we were happy with our meals. The service is EXCELLENT my glass was never dry. I wanted for nothing during the entire visit. I can't say enough about Alberinis service Food and the owner. My father had a stroke and has a hard time getting around. I love this place so much. I brought him here for his Bday. We received a gift certificate as a Christmas gift. It's about 40min from home but worth drive. We started with the calamari which was tender, light and served with a tasty marinara. No pics of the salads but I had the house which was a spring mix with homemade balsamic. I was very impressed with the dressing! My husband had a small wedge which he loved. I had the flatiron steak which was very tender and tasted amazing! Husband had the lamb chops that were prepared perfectly. Tiramisu was also very very good. Service was a little spotty but our server might have been double sat and we weren't in a hurry! We'll definitely be back! read more

From my one and only experience I couldn't give this place a kind review. Polite staff and speedy table service but the food is poor quality. Frozen French fries, our steak was flavorless, and marinara was watery. Tasted closer to tomato juice than any pasta sauce I've ever had. They obviously care a lot about appearing like a five star restaurant but not as much work was put in to the menu, and the prices were a far reach. Very overpriced for as cheap the food appeared but adequately priced to match the ambiance of the restaurant. I would your money on an establishment that values taste and satisfaction. read more

Went there for a nice dinner with my husband last week and it was a strange experience. First of all, the ambiance would have been pretty decent except for the fact that their dining room chairs were office chairs? Like on wheels and everything. Very strange and ugly. We walked in and were greeted by awkward hosts and then once sat we didn't have any server come over to us for 5-10 minutes until some man in carpenter clothing and a clipboard asked us if our server has been over yet. Nope. The server was actually very nice but kind of clueless and didn't let us finish ordering before running off to do something else. So attention isn't really on you when you dine here. The apps were pretty good- I would recommend the crab cake- that was good, although it needs some coleslaw or something on the plate with it. The steak was a weird texture and undercooked but you know, good enough. The really strange and off putting thing about dining here was that 1. to get sauce on your steak, you need to pay an EXTRA $6.00 ! and 2. after they swipe your credit card, you see snuck on the bill a 3.5% CREDIT CARD PROCESSING FEE! I have never in my life seen that at a restaurant, especially not an "up scale" (ish) place. How tacky and sneaky. I think the owner is trying to squeeze every penny out of this place as he can. Even the wine on your bill comes as $14 for the bottle and $15 for a 'corking fee'. Instead of $29 for the bottle lol. I did not like the experience and wouldn't recommend. read more

Went to Michael Alberini's with my family for my mom's retirement party. It was the second time I had ever been there. The first experience a few years before wasn't great. But this second experience was sooo much better. Everyone enjoyed the atmosphere and the food. Our server was very good. I got the lavender mint lemonade cocktail which was awesome and also the salmon which was pretty good. Parking is very easy because they have a huge lot. I would definitely go back again. read more

I was expecting a fantastic dinner. Heard good things about the restaurant. However, I found it to be just so, so. Nothing special. The Capresa salad was average. Tomatoes were flavorless and on the hard side. Aspen Medallions were not cooked to what I requested and had a very strange bitter flavor to the sauce. Two others ordered the chicken and greens. Could not eat because the chicken was dry and the greens were over salted. I expected to have somewhat of a higher quality of patrons. I had a party at Michaels. I reserved for 48 people and the restaurant ran out of food. When I informed the staff that people did not get food I was told they couldn't do anything. That's all the food there was. After much complaining they did bring food out but by that point everyone else was done eating. Also, the food they put out looked reheated.
