    The Bianco Sandwich
    Adam B.

Cute little sandwich and salad place in the FiDi. Doesn't feel like a chain because of the nice marble tabletops. Seems to have cut back on the cooked foods like lasagna, perhaps a pandemic staffing shortage issue, but the sandwiches were quite yummy. The Bianco Sandwich: Essentially an Italian combo with salami, coppa, mortadella and provolone. I'm also a fan of Italian combos because I don't like picking just one meat and the meats are usually more exciting than the typical American combos of turkey, roast beef and regular ham. In addition to the yummy meats and cheese, everything else worked really well. The tapenade and arugula helped add a nice bitter contrast to the richness. I'm not normally a fan of arugula by itself, but it gets such a glow up against fatty cold cuts. Prosciutto di Parma Sandwich: A bit simpler with prosciutto and fresh mozzarella, but equally delicious. A very generous amount of pesto alongside the roasted red peppers really liven up the ham and cheese. Also, the firm chew of the ciabatta is a great texture contrast to the softer fillings. Though maybe a bit high in sodium, beyond what you'd expect from cold cuts, since I was quite thirsty for a few hours afterwards. Perhaps the pesto?

Came in late morning and had an avo toast with eggs! Place is nice and no frills. The food was good and flavorful, really liked the fried capers on the avo! Will def come back again.

Unfussy spot for a grab and go lunch back to the office. Yet also pretty charming if you have the time to sit and eat-in for a little bit. My experiences unfortunately fall in the former but I've always thought what a cute space. Lunch basics like sandwiches, wraps, and salads but also a hearty breakfast menu. Nothing necessarily out of the ordinary but will more than suffice. Not the most efficient of lines but you get to the cashier eventually. The heart of Caffe Bianco is the overall vibe. From the folks that work here to the bright airy space with vaulted ceilings, it's a pretty laid back vibe to escape the hustle a little. Kinda hidden of Sutter, but perhaps that's what keeps Caffe Bianco charming and endearing to its fans.

One of my coworkers recommended this spot for chai tea so I gave it a try and it was great! Also ordered the caramel latte and both of their sweetness were just right. Their drinks are a little cheaper than the mainstream coffee shops around, Service was pretty good and pretty spacious, I would come back to hang out and try out their food next time!

I am so happy that this place is still in business!!. In fact. I have already visited and eaten here 3 times already within this year. It was so nice to relive my memories of when I worked as a supervisor here back in the 1980's. The place has not really changed all that much.

The oatmeal here is highly underrated. Packed with fruits and nuts. Ask them to add a spoon-full of peanut-butter to it if you want to get freaky. Laid back environment, and friendly staff. My go to stop in the morning.

So we got an extra drink for free. Trying the iced latte, it was pretty disappointing lol. I thought it would be similar to like a Hawaiian style latte with macadamia milk, but it was a lot lighter than I thought. It was definitely very nutty, but it also just tasted like water down latte. Honestly not much going on with the drink, but it does taste lighter in general. Crazy have to pay $1.50 more to add on this milk. Overall, its alright. I do like the natural lighting coming into the shop, but nothing too special.

My husband had their Banana Oat Milk latte and it was a good balance of flavor and sweetness (not too sweet). We also tried their popcorn chicken, kimchi fried rice, and galbi patty melt. Whether you are in the mood for a katsu sando, curry over rice, ochazuke with their matcha twist, or something sweet like the matcha cream pie, it is hard to go wrong here. All of the savory dishes I have tried have been great, but the fish katsu sando is one of my absolute favorites. The huge fish fillets are perfectly fried and flaky, tucked inside pillowy shokupan and topped with tangy yuzu shio koji sauce, tomato spread, and fresh crunchy cabbage. Every component works together beautifully, with richness, brightness, and texture all in balance. The pork katsu curry over rice is another standout. The katsu comes sliced into thick pieces that are still juicy inside, and it is fried expertly so the breading stays attached as you eat it. The curry has a really balanced flavor, even if I would not mind a little more spice, while the pickled radishes provide a nice contrast. I always add an onsen egg (for an additional $2) because breaking the runny yolk and mixing it into the curry adds another layer of velvety richness and creaminess. You can also tell they use high-quality matcha in their drinks, so the beverage menu is really more about choosing what fits your mood that day vs avoiding any bad options. Stonemill Matcha is a great option for a grabbing a drink on the go, a full blown sit down meal, a quick dessert stop or all of the above!

My babka was plated on a dainty ceramic dish, which matched the old-school European cafe vibes. The babka was light and fluffy, yet the outside was crisp and buttery like a croissant. The salted chocolate layers folded into the pastry were the perfect balance of sweet and salty, and the chocolate tasted high-quality. One babka could have probably been split into two servings, especially if you want to try multiple items, but I didn't leave behind a single crumb. All around us, the other diners seemed to be enjoying a full-scale brunch with savory pastries and what appeared to be a Turkish breakfast platter. It all smelled wonderful, so I'll have to explore more of the menu on my next visit. I enjoyed the mahlab cake a day later and was amazed that it retained its delicate and light texture. The icing was lightly flavored with orange, cherry, and floral notes, and the presentation was so elegant. The cake was the perfect accompaniment to my afternoon cup of tea. While I'm on a mission to try as many of SF's bakeries as I can, I am looking forward to returning to Loquat.
