Sad to report an update on this restaurant based on a recent visit. Probably the worst clubhouse sandwich I've ever had. The meat? was thick, previously frozen particle board something that was not edible. Service was poor, tables and floor dirty. Nothing like a few prior visits where we had good service and great eggs Benny. So, sorry my recommendation had to change just because all we ever had was the Benny and having had the other food my perspective is radically different.

Mushrooms on toast
Kds D.

Stopped here for some breakfast and a Caesar. I was not disappointed. The Caesar was delicious and so was the eggs Benny. The mushrooms on toast were very tasty as well. Even more so than the Benny.

Looks way better than it tastes

go for a drink don't bother ordering the burger. It's a weird texture. Very salty. Not worth the time or money. Staff seem nice. I didn't love the music but then again that's irrelevant.

Mimosa and Everything breakfast

Like Dennys but with alcohol. Can get really loud in the restaurant, so it can be a bit hard to hear a conversation. I liked the baked beans and a mimosa for breakfast.

Cute little cafe and I do stress little, it's size gave it personality but it lacked in ambiance. Due to its size most tables are right next to one another, one side was friends at another table other side I was elbows away from John Q Public. I'm not complaining it's urban living I should be used to it. Salmon Benedict with cream cheese was VERY good definitely in my top 5 best. Potatoes had a good flavor. Across from me had an omelette which was good a tad bit soggy in my opinion, the toast was delicious big thick slices, espresso was very good as well. I can not complain about the service for as busy as they were and the number of us they knew what they were doing!

Half order eggs benny with bacon and avocado - many options to choose from.

I prefer going here during the week when it's a bit more sane. Great breakfast options and they do half orders of the Benny's which I appreciate. Fresh horseradish in the caesars and lots of features each day and happy hour. I didn't love the chicken and waffles - at least the waffle part. Came out last time way over cooked and hard as a rock. The chicken was excellent. Replacement waffle came out doighy and undercooked - took rhw good off the bill which i appreciated. Theres a nixe patio out back and its mostly locals and regulars. They also cask their own negronis and old fashioned.

Amazing beautiful cocktails crafted by Brian! A Cesar and a spicy tequila grapefruit smash!

Caffe Barney has it going on all around! From their creative and delicious menu to impressive bar options, great location, fun artsy interior and patio seating, and awesome friendly staff!!! I've been there a couple of times now and I wouldn't miss out on paying them a visit if I'm going through Vancouver BC. They make delicious craft cocktails - even virgin options that are totally satisfying! :) I love their breakfast menu, whoa! The benedict options are abundant and so yummy. Totally worth your time and taste buds! Family friendly, but also cool for solo, couples, and small groups. Wish I lived closer so I could hit up their weeknight jam sessions.

I love caffe Barney, it's a local favourite of mine for brunch and dinner! The servers were great as usual and the food was great! We also got mimosas which were more champagne than orange juice which is also a huge plus!

Caffe Barney is like a cafe pub cross over! It's small, long, narrow, and kinda noisy. It's quite bright inside, like most cafes usually are, but it has pub like undertones with a fully licensed bar. When you walk in there is a large bar at the front with quite a few stools, which look like it could be a good time for casuals drinks, and a couple high top tables across from the bar. As you move down the narrow cafe you see small wood tables and chairs and half booths. I didn't like how close the tables were together, but landed the corner table-1/2 booth spot; I felt less crowded. I really didn't like that your conversation was easily projected to the surrounding tables; loud chatter in general. The music seemed to be coming from the kitchen, and was difficult to hear in the main area. I wondered if the music was louder or the speakers set up differently if you could enjoy the music more and also not heard everyone's personal conversations so easily. I loved the art work on the walls; memorials for amazing artist who have passed (Bowie, Prince, Downie). I loved the fair prices for drinks and the drink specials. They had some decent St. Patty's deals on for the entire weekend. The food prices were a bit expensive, but on par with the rest of the over priced food stuffs in Van. I ordered the deep fried pickles, they were okay. It was a large portion for fairly cheap, but the batter wasn't very good or maybe the pickles were not fried enough???? I also ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Salad, which was $15, and was alright. The chicken breast was over cooked, quite thin, and a bit on the rubbery side. The other ingredients were fresh and flavorful., but I found the salad had too much Quinoa verses actually vegetables. The service was friendly and actually very good with an attentive main server and also the bartender and possibly manager helping out. I'd go back but would probably sit at the bar. ;)

Decided to check this place out on Granville St on a Monday morning. I don't drink but my friends liked that they start serving booze at 10am. I ordered the veggie quesadilla and the portion was big. I was only able to eat half but the dish was extremely bland. No flavour at all. The salsa wasn't too real salsa. Just some diced tomatoes with onions. No cilantro or spice or anything. No spices in the quesadilla it was pretty canadianized dumbed down version for sure. The server gave us great service! Big thumbs up for her. The place is small but cozy with table and booth type settings. I also noticed a sign that said they had a patio out back which is good to know for the neighborhood in the summer. My friends said their food was about a 3/5 as well. Place seemed trendy and upbeat. The Caesar salad was baaaaaad. Probably wouldn't repeat though. Service 5/5 Portions 5/5 Taste 3/5

Before I start grab a complimentary port or scotch or sherry. Then let's take a tour. Ok. It will be short tour. They just have a few rooms. But first well stop at the little side kitchen where you can help yourself to coffee, tea, soda and water. For a charge they also have wine and beer available. This is also where you hang your key when you leave the house so they know who is here. We got the Under the Apple Tree Room which was spacious and nicely decorated. It even had its own private yard. Also has gas fireplace, jacuzzi style tub and stand up shower. The heated bathroom floor was a nice touch. If you get tired of your room you can also enjoy sitting outside on a deck or the living room. We really enjoyed relaxing on the couch back in our room in front of the fire place. Morning came a bit too soon. Was hard to get up out of the super comfortable down blankets on the King bed. The breakfast was ready though and included three delicious courses. Polenta with almonds, banana kirsch, and smoked salmon with poached egg on toasted croissant. Yum. Jam Cafe, Vancouver Jam Cafe is my favorite brunch spot. Anywhere. That sounds like an exaggeration. It isn't. I've been traveling to Vancouver for work for almost a decade, and every single trip includes a stop at Jam. If I'm lucky, two. I've also become that coworker who convinces everyone to meet outside at 7:45 in the morning so we can be part of the first seating at 8:00. Thankfully, we're all from the East Coast and have been awake since 5:00 anyway. Over the years I've successfully JAMfluenced more business travelers than I'd like to admit. And yes, it's still worth the wait even if you're not first in line. The restaurant itself is tiny. Cozy farmhouse vibes, mismatched decorations covering the walls, and maybe 15 tables between the dining room and patio. It feels more like someone's favorite neighborhood breakfast spot than one of Vancouver's brunch institutions. The menu is comfort food turned up to eleven. Everything is indulgent, creative, and somehow still balanced. You can tell the kitchen starts with great ingredients because every component tastes like it could stand on its own. I try to branch out every visit... and then usually end up ordering the Tater Tot Bowl anyway. Crispy tater tots, buffalo sauce, Mexican street corn relish, and ridiculously good pulled pork. It's the kind of dish that sounds like it shouldn't work, but every bite somehow gets better than the last. And then there are the cinnamon roll pancakes. They are enormous. They're also one of the best brunch dishes I've ever eaten. Birdfluencer Lorraine M. declared them the best pancakes she's ever had, and after several visits, I don't have much of an argument. Service is exactly what it needs to be. Friendly, efficient, and quick. The staff knows there's a line forming outside before the doors even open, but you never feel rushed. Overall, Jam Cafe has officially become part of my Vancouver tradition. At this point, a work trip to the city doesn't really start until I've had breakfast here. If you're visiting Vancouver and only have time for one brunch, this would be my pick without a second thought.

We arrived and placed ourselves on the waitlist. We waited about 45-60 minutes total. But boy oh boy was it worth it! The restaurant is a Mediterranean inspired breakfast/lunch/ brunch. The interior was warm and inviting. The hostess and our server were both very sweet and provided great customer service. We started with coffees. My husband ordered espresso and I had a salted caramel latte. Both coffees were great - they had bold flavor and the froth on my latte was fluffy (bonus points for the cute latte art). For our entrees, my husband ordered the Fricassée. The short rib was tender and delicious! The tomato sauce was also amazing. Just wanted to note that the sauce was a bit more on the tangy side. I ordered the Cassoulet. The tomato sauce on this one was my favorite as it was a perfect balance between tangy and savory. I also really enjoyed the white beans which helped add to the body of the meal. The grilled focaccia is perfection! They're crisp and crunchy on the outside and light and fluffy on the inside. We used the focaccia to devour every last bit of the tomato sauces from our plates. I don't really run into Mediterranean breakfast often. But Medina Cafe and these shakshuka inspired dishes have definitely won us over. I'd come back and wait in line all over again. Yum!

Between the food, drinks, and overall experience, Medina Cafe is absolutely worth a visit. The service was fantastic, I'd happily come back, especially for those potatoes because I'm still thinking about them!
