Sad to report an update on this restaurant based on a recent visit. Probably the worst clubhouse sandwich I've ever had. The meat? was thick, previously frozen particle board something that was not edible. Service was poor, tables and floor dirty. Nothing like a few prior visits where we had good service and great eggs Benny. So, sorry my recommendation had to change just because all we ever had was the Benny and having had the other food my perspective is radically different.

Stopped here for some breakfast and a Caesar. I was not disappointed. The Caesar was delicious and so was the eggs Benny. The mushrooms on toast were very tasty as well. Even more so than the Benny.

go for a drink don't bother ordering the burger. It's a weird texture. Very salty. Not worth the time or money. Staff seem nice. I didn't love the music but then again that's irrelevant.

It was my first time to go to Barney's; it's ridiculous because I am only a few minutes away yet I never knew there was a little gem right in front of my eyes! My friend and I met up here because she spoke very highly of their mimosas and their food! Well, I am glad I got to try it out. Their food is quite good and their services very fast and friendly. I ordered a traditional eggs Benny; I wanted my eggs poached medium and they did exactly that. I loved the crispness of the bacon but I thought the Hollandaise was a tad bland; it needed just a wee bit more butter and salt. Their fruit bowl which I substituted for has browns was excellent - a little bit of everything from grapes, bananas, apples, melon and oranges. It was just great and I felt so good that I resisted hash browns (rarely happens) and ordered some fruits instead. I don't normally like restaurants with narrow seatings but this one was quite nice. The ambience was warm and the wooden furniture gave the place a relaxing feel. Though it was really busy, we never felt rushed. Just a lovely experience!

Like Dennys but with alcohol. Can get really loud in the restaurant, so it can be a bit hard to hear a conversation. I liked the baked beans and a mimosa for breakfast.

Cute little cafe and I do stress little, it's size gave it personality but it lacked in ambiance. Due to its size most tables are right next to one another, one side was friends at another table other side I was elbows away from John Q Public. I'm not complaining it's urban living I should be used to it. Salmon Benedict with cream cheese was VERY good definitely in my top 5 best. Potatoes had a good flavor. Across from me had an omelette which was good a tad bit soggy in my opinion, the toast was delicious big thick slices, espresso was very good as well. I can not complain about the service for as busy as they were and the number of us they knew what they were doing!

Half order eggs benny with bacon and avocado - many options to choose from.

I prefer going here during the week when it's a bit more sane. Great breakfast options and they do half orders of the Benny's which I appreciate. Fresh horseradish in the caesars and lots of features each day and happy hour. I didn't love the chicken and waffles - at least the waffle part. Came out last time way over cooked and hard as a rock. The chicken was excellent. Replacement waffle came out doighy and undercooked - took rhw good off the bill which i appreciated. Theres a nixe patio out back and its mostly locals and regulars. They also cask their own negronis and old fashioned.

Amazing beautiful cocktails crafted by Brian! A Cesar and a spicy tequila grapefruit smash!

Caffe Barney has it going on all around! From their creative and delicious menu to impressive bar options, great location, fun artsy interior and patio seating, and awesome friendly staff!!! I've been there a couple of times now and I wouldn't miss out on paying them a visit if I'm going through Vancouver BC. They make delicious craft cocktails - even virgin options that are totally satisfying! :) I love their breakfast menu, whoa! The benedict options are abundant and so yummy. Totally worth your time and taste buds! Family friendly, but also cool for solo, couples, and small groups. Wish I lived closer so I could hit up their weeknight jam sessions.

I love caffe Barney, it's a local favourite of mine for brunch and dinner! The servers were great as usual and the food was great! We also got mimosas which were more champagne than orange juice which is also a huge plus!

Caffe Barney is like a cafe pub cross over! It's small, long, narrow, and kinda noisy. It's quite bright inside, like most cafes usually are, but it has pub like undertones with a fully licensed bar. When you walk in there is a large bar at the front with quite a few stools, which look like it could be a good time for casuals drinks, and a couple high top tables across from the bar. As you move down the narrow cafe you see small wood tables and chairs and half booths. I didn't like how close the tables were together, but landed the corner table-1/2 booth spot; I felt less crowded. I really didn't like that your conversation was easily projected to the surrounding tables; loud chatter in general. The music seemed to be coming from the kitchen, and was difficult to hear in the main area. I wondered if the music was louder or the speakers set up differently if you could enjoy the music more and also not heard everyone's personal conversations so easily. I loved the art work on the walls; memorials for amazing artist who have passed (Bowie, Prince, Downie). I loved the fair prices for drinks and the drink specials. They had some decent St. Patty's deals on for the entire weekend. The food prices were a bit expensive, but on par with the rest of the over priced food stuffs in Van. I ordered the deep fried pickles, they were okay. It was a large portion for fairly cheap, but the batter wasn't very good or maybe the pickles were not fried enough???? I also ordered the Mediterranean Chicken Salad, which was $15, and was alright. The chicken breast was over cooked, quite thin, and a bit on the rubbery side. The other ingredients were fresh and flavorful., but I found the salad had too much Quinoa verses actually vegetables. The service was friendly and actually very good with an attentive main server and also the bartender and possibly manager helping out. I'd go back but would probably sit at the bar. ;)

Service was good, friendly. The restaurant is the same as I recall, clean enough. A little cramped and the seating isnt too comfortable. Its really not a good place to hang out for a long time, but rather sit down, eat, and get out type of place. I had the lavender latte and the Tagine this time. Ive had it before and at least its pretty consistent. Ive tried several other things on their menu in the past too, all pretty solid 4/5. Nothing standout as so amazing to deserve 5 stars, but consistent and tasty. I did have a reservation which they charge $10/person for, purely for donation to a charity and does not contribute to your meal at all, and also nonrefundable. While I find this somewhat annoying, I dont blame them for doing this from a business standpoint. They always have a lineup so there is no shortage of customers for them. There is no reason they need to deal with the headache of a ton of reservations. On the flip side, they honoured my reservation in a very timely fashion and I bypassed the line, so props to them for doing that part right. If you have to park, then you may find street metered parking or use one of the nearby paid lots.

I chose to sit outside on the patio instead of inside at the bar to take in that Canadian Vitamin D! It was sunny and hot, but the patio had a great view and was perfect for people-watching. My server, Dursh (or something close to that), was really cool. He asked my name, made me feel welcomed, and gave solid recommendations. He even picked my drink for me, which I ended up enjoying. He suggested a Benedict dish, but I'm not a fan of runny eggs. I had already decided on the El Camino poutine and plot twist....it also came with two runny poached eggs. Even so, it was still delicious, mainly because the yolk texture wasn't an issue with the crema on the dish. That poutine was an easy 9/10. It came loaded with cheese curds, pork carnitas that weren't dry at all, bacon, pinto beans, roasted pineapple for a little sweetness, salsa, jalapeños, pickled onions, salsa verde, cilantro crema, and spinach. The herb potatoes were seasoned so well too. All in all, a great last meal in Vancouver from the food to the service (even beyond Dursh, everyone was helpful) to the patio vibe. Great spot.

I was meeting a friend here yesterday who's visiting from California, and when deciding on a meeting place, we realized a bunch of the Gastown coffee roaster places were closed on Sunday, so I mentioned Breka , knowing it was opened 24/7. (LOVE this!). Plus, this site is close to Waterfront Station, and my friend had a busy day planned, taking the Seabus to N.Van and doing a lot of sightseeing. So this Breka was perfect. I was there early at 10 am-ish, and from the outset, I was impressed: exposed brick wall, long counter and display case, fully stocked with the most beautiful pastries and tarts and cakes, and lovely looking sandwiches, too....Just lovely. I ordered a tea from the guy taking the orders. At the check-out, the woman working the cashier was the most unfriendly, aloof person I have ever encountered at a Breka. She was downright dour. Never looked up, never smiled, said I owed X for the tea I ordered, gave me a receipt and said I was "number 3", no "thank you" (despite my saying thanks!), nothing. She looked really unhappy and bothered to be there. (I sat at a nearby table, waiting for my number to be called. I saw her interactions with all the people behind me - and there were quite a few, as it got suddenly busy in the cafe. She was cold and unfriendly to everyone in line as she rang them all up. These are mostly tourists! Why have a dour, borderline-hostile woman at the check-out counter of a busy cafe in a touristy part of our city? I just don't get it). Anyhow, I waited 10 minutes to hear my number called, but I never heard it. I walked up to the take-out area and there was my tea, on a receipt that said "number 3". Did they call out my number? I honestly don't know. I was seated at a table a few feet from the area and listening for my number and I didn't hear it called. I was not impressed with this set-up. Not at all. My friend arrived and got a chocolate concoction which looked amazing, and he loved it, so there's that. I still love Brekas but I probably won't return to this site. Between the cold experience at the cash and the prolonged waiting for my order (a cup of tea!), and not being sure if my order number was ever called, it just all left me with a bitter taste in my mouth.

We were having gorgeous weather in Vancouver so we decided to eat on the covered patio. The place is pretty cozy, but was only moderately busy when we went. They have a pretty good menu with lots a Benedict's and a build your own breakfast option that seemed pretty nice. I took the recommendation from our server and got the bacon benny. It did not disappoint. I think I have recently discovered that I love poached eggs and these were perfect. The yolk was nice and runny and the white was firm but not hard. I like to cut in to my egg and have it run down and get messy on the plate. The hollandaise was excellent. So many breakfast places will serve it broken, but not here. It had the perfect amount of lemon, butter ratio for my taste and I really enjoyed it. The bacon was good, not to salty, and the english muffin was, well, an English muffin from a package that they toasted and out on the plate. I did splurge and paid the extra dollar for the truffle potatoes and they were very good. I love truffle oil on potatoes so I am a sucker for it whenever its on a menu. You just cant mess it up. Fried potatoes, truffle oil, and a lemon squeeze to bring it all together. My wife got the brunch burger and she loved it. It was a messy breakfast burger that a lot of places have but this one was done right. A poached oozy egg, on a burger patty with american cheese, the best burger cheese in my opinion, bacon, hollandaise and arugula on a brioche bun! It came with tater tots and they were nice and crispy just like she likes them. Well, why didn't I give it five stars you may be asking? Great question. Here it is, each plate came with a side that was just awful. Mine had some "fresh" fruit that nearly made me laugh. It consisted of the saddest, limpest piece of watermelon I have ever seen this side of a trash can. I also had an old crusty orange wedge and a single grape. My wife got a slimy side salad that I think was holding on for dear life. Both, we deemed inedible and moved on immediately. I think there is a rule, or at least there should be one, in restaurants that if you wouldn't eat it then don't serve it. But first, the food - I ordered scrambled eggs, chicken apple sausage and paid an extra $1 for truffled lemon potatoes. The verdict? 4 out of 5. I'd ordered the eggs "very soft" and they verged on medium-firm. They still tasted good. I'll gladly pay extra for the truffled potatoes next time. My husband ordered the salmon avocado benny. While he loved the tomato soup he chose on the side, he was less enamoured by the benny itself. I had a taste and was underwhelmed by a forkful of overripe avocado and slightly fishy-tasting salmon. We finished with an order of beignets which despite being freshly-fried, were bland; although the accompanying strawberry sauce was deliciously tangy-sweet. Onto the service. This place spins like a top, and I mean that in a good way. Although we came at a peak time, all front of the house staff we encountered -- from the hostess to our bubbly server, to the smooth manager -- struck a perfect balance of being in flow, working flawlessly together, and maintaining light conversation with us. Exemplary. 5 stars out of 5.
