Absolutely horrible service. I called in an order for pickup. Upon arrival, I simply had to pay for the order, and they insisted I waited in a 30 person line to do so! It took over 40 minutes to get to the counter. Once, I actually paid, It took all of 20 seconds to tap my credit card, and they insisted on me waiting in line. Just complete nonsense. By the time I finally got my food, it was cold. When I asked to speak to a manager, I was shrugged off and told "nope, sorry, not today". The absolute worst service I've ever experienced. It's too bad, cause I always loved cafecito, but to pay $30 for 2 sandwiches, and to be cold, and have the experience I did, I will definitely not be returning. read more

Cute Cuban brunch spot, right across the HI hostel where I was staying. I dropped by for a single Cafecito (espresso with tsp of sugar) and the Elveez sandwich (I am a sucker for peanut butter and plantains, the guava jam was a nice touch). The Cafecito wasn't too sweet, a nice energy booster. The Elveez I enjoyed, not too bready for the relatively thin filling. This is probably not a café that you just stumble upon. You have to intentionally be looking for Cafecito. But once you find it you will be glad that you did. This small café makes great Cuban inspired sandwiches, salads, coffees, desserts, and more. We stopped in on a Saturday afternoon and there were a good number of people there, but we were still able to find a seat. We had the Cubano (roasted pork, ham, swiss, pickles, mustard) and Lechon (roasted pork, tomato, arugula, grilled onions) pressed sandwiches, along with the Cafecito (espresso). The Cafecito was very bold and intense in flavor but without the bitterness that I have experienced elsewhere. The sandwiches were similar to a panini in that they were pressed and grilled. But unlike a traditional panini the bread was more of a roll than two pieces of bread. The bread had a soft pillowy texture on the inside while being crisp on the outside. Very unique and tasty. I was shocked by the prices. The Cafecito was only $2.29 for a 10 ounce drink while the sandwiches were both $8.99 each. While there, two Chicago police officers came in and ordered. If the police eat there, you know if has to be good. This has to be one of the best deals in town. For a taste of Cuba in Chicago for a great price, I highly recommend Cafecito. read more

I was reading a book that mentioned Cubano sandwiches, and I just couldn't get them out of my head, so I was happy to see that Cafecito has online ordering available through Ritual, for both take-away or delivery. I live close, so decided to go with take-away. Ordering was simple, food prep was fairly quick, and pick-up was easy. The Cubano was good...not as good as I've gotten in Miami....but decent enough. Definitely satisfied my craving. Love Cafecito! This location makes it a great spot to grab a quick lunch in the loop. I usually get the "La Playa" it's a vegan sandwich with beyond sausage, spinach, vegan cheese, roasted peppers, and vegan Mayo. It's delicious! I have yet to get a coffee there but I'm sure that's also great. They have seating in this location, but not a lot so take that into account when planning to eat in. read more

Fast, tasty, convenient, just off the highway, and open on weekends (unlike the other Cafecito in the loop)! What more can you ask for? This is a little Chicagoan Cuban coffeehouse chain. They have Cuban style sandwiches and platters and drinks. It's counter service and very very efficient. This place has saved me in situations where I was running late to catch a plane - it's very easy to just grab a sandwich and go. And the sandwiches are very good! We stayed at the hostel next door so we decided to stop by this place on the way to the airport. I shared the Cubano and Guava-Q with my wife. I liked the prices for the area. It's ~$8 a sandwich. I liked the Guava-Q. It was sweet and a little soggy. The Cubano was a decent sandwich but it was not the best Cuban sandwich I've had but surprisingly on par with what I've tried in Miami. I like the style and the fast casual feel of this place. Would I come here again? Probably not. I wouldn't go that far out of my way to eat here but the sandwiches we had were pretty good. read more
