The drinks here are seriously good. The Einspanners are rich and well made, especially the pistachio and black sesame. The space feels fresh and modern, and having free parking in Koreatown is rare and appreciated. It does get very busy and loud though. If you are looking for a quiet place to work or relax, this might not be the best spot. Some of the chairs are uncomfortable for long sitting and the layout is not ideal for focus. Prices are on the higher side and not every drink delivers what it promises. I had one or two that looked better online than they tasted. Staff are usually polite and efficient, but during rush hours the energy shifts and it can feel a bit cold. Still, it is a solid cafe with unique drinks and good atmosphere if you catch it at the right time. With a few small improvements it could become one of the best in the area. read more

Super cool edgy cafe vibes! This definitely adds another list of ktown cafés to check out in the neighborhood. Ordered the Black sesame einspanner drink since I love black sesame and this did not disappoint. Not overly sweet like other places, great nuttiness and roast from the sesame and espresso shots balanced by the slightly sweet cream. Nothing is overpowering. However it is on the pricey side ($8.5). It comes with a cookie/pastry but did not care for it, it kinda tasted stale. Plenty of parking in the lot and there is also street parking if needed. There are around a few tables laying around to study at and several chairs and stools to sit around as well! Service was quick and efficient, you order at the register and they'll give you a stand with your number. My drink came out in around 5 minutes. Definitely will come back to check out their other drinks and if I'm feeling in the mood to treat myself since the drinks are more expensive but seems like that's the trend with coffee places now. read more

i always see this cafe open late at night while walking around the streets of ktown. i noticed it was a busy place filled with students so i had high expectations. thankfully it has a decently sized parking lot in the back with free parking/no valet. i got the matcha einspanner with oat milk. i was so excited to try it but unfortunately it was not what i thought it was going to be. it was creamy to say the least but it did not taste like matcha whatsoever. it was more just like a simple vanilla ice cream with green coloring. maybe for the next time i'll try something different but for my first time after seeing good reviews about the drink i got, i was really upset. however, staff were kind and fast and overall the atmosphere was a total vibe! read more

came to Cafe Upper on a Tuesday morning for a work sesh. they have a free parking lot on site which is so nice for ktown. when you walk inside, there are ample tables. the tables are a little small but there are outlets against the wall. drinks are a bit pricey, averaging $7-$8 but they have 20% off drinks from 8 AM to 2 PM which helps. they also have alternate milk options. i ordered the chai latte hot which was solid, but nothing crazy. my friend ordered a hot matcha latte which was good, but maybe not worth the full price. they also have some pastries and bagels. the cafe was not super busy when I went. there's a lot of natural light as it has big windows facing the street. sadly not much people watching but you can watch the cars drive by. overall a decent work spot. read more

A few months ago my cousin broguht me here to try the drinks. I ended up ordering the strawberry yogurt smoothie and got a bit addicted to it. I basically started visiting here once or twice a month now. The only issue I really have with the drinks here is that they fill the cup up to the top and a little but of yogurt sticks out from the top and all they have are like flat lids so when you try to put a lid on top of the cups it overflows and can make a bit of a mess. Don't know why the neon blue light strip in the cafe helped me focus and lock in.... (Just me? Okay....) Outlet accessible at one or two seats. Wow. Hands down the best bingsu I've had. I've tried many bingsu places in Ktown and nothing can top this one. The ice on the bottom was shaved down so finely it felt like snow. Also the ice was saturated with the cream/milk base so it wasn't just icy but it was creamy and had somewhat an ice cream consistency which I liked. Most bingsu places I've tried have the shaved ice consistency, but it has no flavor to it. The combination of the red bean, Injeolmi powder and pieces of chewy mochi was the best combination, especially on a hot day. The cafe itself is very aesthetic and great to take instagram pictures or study with friends. The decor is very bright and fun while the rest of the space is modern and sleek. The workers are very nice here and accommodating. This place serves pastries as well as coffee/matcha which I definitely need to try next!
