Very poor experience with the staff at this establishment. We had a 5pm reservation but our son woke up with the stomach flu, so I called right when they opened at 10am to cancel. Due to their 12 hour cancellation policy (which is at the discretion of the owner), we were charged a $60 fee. They were not willing to work with us because they claimed they had to turn people away to hold our reservation spot, while Yelp showed plenty of reservations open all evening. Couldn't get the owner to call me back. We were looking forward to visiting but this poor customer service was a huge turn off. read more

Excellent food, location and service! We enjoyed the fresh pasta and tiramisu - delicious!

Very much enjoyed our meals and service. Bruschetta was a great starter. Salmon was perfect. Lemon ricotta was yummy. Can't wait to return and try their other entrees. read more

The food is superb! Wine selection good. Atmosphere good except if you're sat in the back room near the dish station. It can get loud.

Great food and great service!!! Big portions too enough for lunch the next day. Will definitely go back when in town.

If you want truly authentic Italian food - run, don't walk to Cafe Stella! My husband said it's the best pasta dish he's ever had - and we've been to Italy!! We went on New Years Eve for lunch and were looking for something "hearty" to eat to fuel us for the day and it was beyond amazing! We met the owners and they couldn't have been nicer and interested in making sure everything we had was wonderful. And it was - my pasta dish was simply scrumptious as well! We are only in town for the holiday but if there's a chance we can go back before we leave, we're going!! Do yourself a favor and try it out!!! read more

Oh my gosh! Best bowl of pasta I've ever had! I had the Calabrian chili pasta with peas, so good! Very spicy. Hubby had the sausage and mushroom pasta and he loved it. I can't remember the name of the pasta, but it's perfect with any sauce. We started with the bruschetta board and that was also delicious! Service was great! Thanks Derek! read more

I can't speak highly enough of this place. The one thing that was comical is that it's easy to miss the entrance because the name of the restaurant is not on the street-facing windows/door. First, the food & drink: This restaurant fresh makes their pasta every day, and you can tell the craft and freshness with each bite. The portobello mushroom and cheese ravioli with alfredo sauce was heaven in our mouths. The wine pairing was perfect, and we tried (and failed) not to fill up with the delicious garlic bread and sauce and meatballs appetizers. While the calabrian chili & burrata pasta was not aligned to my desired taste, the burrata was fresh and tasty and the pasta was perfectly formed and cooked. Speaking of, the service: The staff asked how everything was, and when I shared I was not happy with the calabrian chili pasta, immediately offered to replace it at no cost with any other pasta dish. Given I was already full and snuck some of the ravioli, I declined, but they were immediately on it, friendly and helpful. Additionally, the staff clearly enjoyed their jobs - bantering with us and others, on top of service without pressing, and on and on. Would 100% recommend. read more

DELICIOUS HOMEMADE COMFORT YUMMM. Service was great. Felt like I was at home. My fav was the salmon dish.

Amazing food and relaxed atmosphere. I had the salmon -it was delicious, service slow, but they were understaffed and they were very kind. Nice easy going ambiance would definitely go back again for the comfort food. Pasta was the best I've had in town! The cannolis were also amazing! read more

Great outdoor seating area where you can listen to local live music being played near by. Also, the best chicken Fettuccine Alfredo I have had in years (and it's my go to Italian dish). Would definitely recommend give them a shot if you're in the area. read more

Good food - friendly server. Huge portions... try the past limon with chicken. Cant go wrong

I have been here several times, have ordered something different every time and nothing has ever disappointed. There is not a bad thing on the menu. Food is fantastic and drinks are great. The service is great and it's a very calming environment even when it's busy. Definitely my new fav go to place. I also take advantage of the student discount on Wednesdays for half off spaghetti and meatballs. read more

If you're in the mood for some amazing pasta, I highly recommend Cafe Stella. I went for a date night with my husband and we had an amazing time. The customer service was a step above...very friendly waitstaff. The pasta was delectable and the food came out so fast for us. My only regret is that we live in a different state and can't come back to Flagstaff every weekend for this meal! read more

We had dinner tonight at Cafe Stella's and it was delicious! French kiss! We went with some friends and all our dishes were to die for! We started with the bruschetta and my husband had a local IPA and I had a crisp cider. For dinner we had the eggplant and marinara sauce with the house made pasta that was cooked to a nice al dente and the chicken Alfredo. I'm not sure which one was better! The eggplant had a hint of red pepper that made it. For dessert we had the tiramisu and blueberry cheesecake - not made in house but were definitely very good! Our food came out timely and our waiter was great! We really enjoyed the atmosphere and will be back the next time we are in Flagstaff! read more

First impressions entering the restaurant was decent. Wine service and presentation needs work. Up charge for a ghetto Caesar salad was my least favorite. Do better please!!!! Pasta was aldente, sauce was lacking any depth of flavor. The wine and tiaramsu saved this review. 50/50 if I ever return read more

We went to Cafe Stella on Saturday night, and we loved it! Their garlic bread is delicious, the cocktails were a hit, and we got to know our server and joke with him while we were there. We ordered Chicken Alfredo, Lemon Ricotta, and a red sauce pasta and it was all great! We sat right inside, and it's cozy but with a modern twist. We definitely plan on coming back more often. We're always happy when Flagstaff gets a new restaurant for us to enjoy! read more

Hard to believe the good reviews. I guess most people think fresh made pasta means better and don't know that certain sauces pair better with the toothiness of a dried pasta. Plus the quality of the fresh pasta here is on the lower end of texture/taste anyway and penne needs to be banned or regulated to one dish a menu lol. The sauce was edible but honestly Raos jarred sauce is better. Pork chop was tiny compared to their insta pics. Salad was iceberg with vinegar with no hint of oil. Astroturf on the walls made no sense for an Italian restaurant (or anywhere). Tables outside were like plastic tables from Walmart. Stay home and save your money. read more

Good food, good drinks, good atmosphere! Pasta is made fresh at the restaurant. Their breadsticks are bomb!

Cesar salad was lettuce with Cesar dressing not a Cesar salad. Pork chop was a hockey puck. Red sauce tasted like a basic sauce from a grocery store. I'm honest so the place survives. Get a consultant in the kitchen and enhance the food. Flagstaff is not the market to wait to resolve it. Waitstaff we're really cool and the vibe is there. Strictly the kitchen needs to level up. read more

Stopped in for a quick drink and apps and it took a little over 45 minutes from order time to check out time. We cancelled on ordering food when we saw how long everything was taking. The server actually avoided us(actually turned away when he looked at us at the end) at the end and had other servers close us out. I think their problem right now is they are understaffed but the other reviews were right about the current growing pains. Not dinging them based on this but there's also a weird right-wing "media is silencing freedom" painting on the way out to the patio that absolutely messed with the "Italian fine-dining" vibe they're going for... read more

Very underwhelming. Nice staff but place was very "diner-like" and dirty. We actually didn't stay for the full meal.

We are passing through Flagstaff and we wanted some Italian Pasta My daughter found this place online We were all hungry and ready to eat We were seated after 10 minutes The waitress was friendly and took our drink and food order right away Then things went down hill from there After 10 plus minutes we received our drinks Then it took 20 minutes to receive our salads which i inquired the first time about our meal Then I inquired again 15 minutes later We were considering leaving at this point The food came after a 45 to 60 minute wait for Spaghetti and meatballs The food was luke warm and bland The meat balls were burned and hard to cut We were really hoping for a good meal I take no pleasure in writing this review but unfortunately it was just that bad read more

I thought it was fantastic. We were a party of 5 and all had different dishes. Homemade noodles, who does that?! Al dente, spot on. Bruschetta board was delish. Bread was great and should be added to every dish. Transforming the old Downton Diner had to have been a task, but to turn it into a welcoming , authentic Italian restaurant? Nicely done. Our waiter, Derek, was great. Friendly, knows the menu and is genuine. Nice experience. We will return and certainly recommend. Thank you! read more

Cafe Stella - Derrick !!! - Italian Near Me - Flagstaff, Arizona

the best pasta I've ever had! makes sense since it's made in house, Oregano's has been replaced! if you go ask for Doug, excellent service!

My wife and I went to Cafe Stella on the recommendation of our son and daughter in-law. They were in Flagstaff a couple of weeks ago and told us that they had found this amazing Italian restaurant. We decided that we would give it a try. Being Italian and what I consider to be a pretty good cook, I wanted to know what made this place special. My Italian family is from Tuscany and Sicily so my food experience is limited to those two regions and mostly the Sicilian because that's mom's family. The recipes here are from a very different region and the tastes are different from what I am used to. I believe the food originates from Calabria, Italy. That said, my taste buds were celebrating this whole new world of flavors. My wife had the lemon ricotta pasta and I had the Margherita chicken pasta. They were both delicious and the serving size was just right. Derek, our server and the owner couldn't have been more solicitous of our needs. His timing between stops by our table was perfect. I enjoy having space but I don't want to be ignored. He was perfect. The ambiance is really nice. Quaint, small and welcoming. We live in the Valley but we are in the Flagstaff area several times a year. We will be back. read more

Aspen was my server and she provided excellent service and provided an overall great experience!!!

Went in this past Sunday and had Aspen as our server! She was amazing and so was the food! A good local Italian place!

Cafe Stella is a good Italian restaurant in downtown Flagstaff. It has only been open less than two months. They are still working on making everything better. I have only been once and plan to return. I had the salmon with pasta. I upgraded the salad to a Caesar salad but was disappointed un the salad. Otherwise, I would given the restaurant 5 stars. I requested that the salmon be cooked to medium rare, and the kitchen did as requested. They make all their pasta fressh, which is a big plus. The sauce was light and flavorful, a perfect complement to the salmon. I look forward to trying Cafe Stella again. read more

The pasta and sauce was amazing first and foremost. My only small issue was that I ordered take out and when I got back to my room and opened it, there was the smallest amount of food... I had maybe 4 bites. Not sure if it's the same when eating in but it didn't look that way when I picked up the food. Delicious 4 bites. read more
