So glad we finally got to try Cafe Spaghetti and can't wait to go back! The staff was so kind and amazing especially our waitress, Joey! We had the ricotta crostini, spiedini and the rice balls all of which were so good. I think the crostini was my fave and I don't love hazelnuts but the crunch on top was so good! For our meals, we ordered the special which was a rigatoni alla vodka with zucchini. My boyfriend literally said he wished there was more zucchini in it, it was so good! I got the spaghetti vongole which was super satisfying and yummy! Perfect al dente noodles! Cant wait to go back and try more of the pastas and the tiramisu! read more

I made a trip to Cafe Spaghetti at the suggestion of Gaetano P. I'm very happy that I went, and I plan to become a regular. The space is very nice, and the backyard is fabulous. The crowd is mixed, a combination a new comers and old timers. The staff were all on their game, and the soundtrack was a trip down memory lane. I opted to dine at the bar, and I sampled several dishes and wines. I recommend the Arugula Salad, the Rice Balls and the Octopus. The prep on everything was very simple, and very tasty. I sipped Verdicchio and it paired very well with my food. I can't wait to return. read more

This place has gorgeous ambiance and a cute layout. We had the burrata, prosciutto, tomatoes and focaccia to start which was outstanding - A+. They aren't yet licensed for liquor so we had a mix of Prosecco and aperol spritzes to start. Our pasta was honestly just ok- husband had Nonna's Ragu which was a little plain, and I had the pasta e piselli, which honestly was also a little plain- just peas and guanciale with little tubes pastas, not much of a sauce. I want to give this place a second shot though as maybe we didn't order the stellar dishes? We were so impressed with our starter so we want to try other dishes next time. Worth a try. read more

Cafe Spaghetti, an early darling of the New York food media, is a good neighborhood neo red sauce joint. In a city in which you can't throw a meatball without hitting another Italian restaurant, Cafe Spaghetti isn't so good that it's worth a trans-borough journey for. It's good, especially if you live in Carroll Gardens or elsewhere nearby, but not necessarily revelatory. When my party of five were there recently, we carefully selected some starters to share and wanted to put an order in while we mulled the larger entrees, but were informed by the server that all orders have to be placed at the same time. Cafe Spaghetti is one of my favorite restaurants in NYC! I've come 5 times now and every time the service and food has been impeccable. Their backyard is also so cute and lively - definitely try to get a reservation there if you can. I normally start with their olive oil martini (dirty with gin) and end with an espresso martini, and both are always tasty and strong. I've also had their wines by the glass and have enjoyed those as well, although I prefer cocktails at this restaurant. Now, let's get to the food! Their spiedini is amazing - I always order this, but have also ordered and enjoyed the rice balls, ricotta toast, eggplant Parmesan, and the steak. I enjoy their pasta as well (my favorite is their fusilli ragu) but I find that it's a little too al dente for me so I normally ask them to cook it a bit longer for me. Finally, you can't go wrong with any of their desserts, but my favorite one is their bomba Di gelato. Truly a must visit spot in Brooklyn! read more

We chose to dine at Cafe Spaghetti knowing nothing about it, we were only staying in New York briefly and only ended up choosing Cafe Spaghetti after being denied reservations at several more prestigious restaurants. This being said, eating at this Cafe was one of the most rewarding and memorable experiences I had during our New York escapade. Passionate foodies like myself subconsciously attempt to mark restaurants down due to small, insignificant details like lavatory conditions and cleanliness; I think that it is safe to say that Cafe Spaghetti ticked every imaginable box. As soon as we arrived we were graciously welcomed by a beaming receptionist. We were smoothly shown to our designated table where we were seated and made comfortable. We then set our gazes on a mouthwatering menu which we soon found out was just as delightful as promised. In a matter of minutes, we were attended to by a kindly waitress. We elected to order two mouth-watering starters: Three fabulous fried rice balls which were crispy on the outside yet cloudy and comforting on the inside. We also ordered an appetizing plate of dainties that appealed to all tastes. From luxurious prosciutto to creamy burrata, these delicious starters set the scene for the dreamy main courses that were to come next... My main course, the Ragu alla bolognese was delivered swiftly and was, in my opinion, perfect. A divine blend of juicy but meaty bolognese spread evenly and thoroughly over high quality, Italian pasta. The other entrees ranged from a simple yet pampering pasta with butter, to a complex, flavorful, and succulent sausage Orecchiette. Everybody demolished their meals with vigor and gusto, however, some reserved room for a tiramisù which seemed to be one of the restaurant's signature dishes. A short but tantalizing wait yielded the most spectacular, the most striking tiramisù I had ever consumed. I don't like telling people what to eat in my reviews but this tiramisù is a must-get to anyone with a sweet tooth. A perfectly cooled, tented dining space filled with the sound of Italian music goes phenomenally well with the rich and comforting food of Cafe Spaghetti. All in all I would certainly come again and hope this review encourages other people to come to this amazing restaurant. Five stars! read more

Snagged a last min reservation to sit near the bar. The bar area and front tables are super cute - unfortunately we were in the hallway area so my date kept getting bumped. If I come back I'll try sitting at the bar. The back patio looks cute but would love to try once it's warmer out and the roof is open. Pros: - service friendly - great wine, cocktail, and amari list - ricotta crostini, delish, no notes. But only 2 pieces in an order :( Cons - the food - Cacio rice balls were ok but need a side sauce - app portions are quite small - we tried a few pastas and all of them were way too sauced/creamy. The seafood rigatoni barely had any spice and the crab was drowning in sauce. The cavatelli was sadly overcooked and the sauce sort of congealed with the amount of caramelized onions. The dish was also way too sweet I may come back and try some of the conventional pasta dishes (bolognese and the pomodoro) because the execution on the more inventive dishes is just not there sadly. Some of the non pasta entrees also looked good but we didn't try them. read more

My girlfriend and I came to Cafe Spaghetti on an impromptu Friday date night. It's a couple of blocks away from her place and she had never been here before. We did not have a reservation, but we were lucky to be seated quickly at the bar. The bar is well decorated with quirky objects that facilitate conversation and make you feel like you are in a modern version of your grandmas kitchen. We ordered the Ricotta Crostini with truffle honey for an appetizer. The honey was thinly layered and barely visible but exploded with the right amount sweetness. Our bartender, Kyle, whipped up an olive martini for my girlfriend, which had an olive filtered gin concocted within the restaurant. I'm not a gin person, but I took a sip of her drink to taste, as we normally do, and the martini was so smooth that even I would enjoy it. I had a Manhattan which was, honestly, one of the perfectly mixed mixed Manhattans I have had in a while. Kyle kept us entertained by telling us stories of other concoctions created at the bar and connected quickly with us. For the main dish my girlfriend ordered the Orichiette with broccoli rabe, which she devoured. I ordered the Fussili with ragu which was honestly the freshest pasta I have tried in a while. The sauce to meat ratio was perfect. We ordered hazelnut gelato for dessert, which was made in restaurant and tasty. However, we will be coming back for the tiramisu! The bar has a massive coffee machine / espresso maker for serving up the freshest cappuccino, which my girlfriend enjoyed with the gelato. I ordered a hot toddy which I highly recommend. I don't like hot toddy's, but wanted something warm that wasn't cappuccino. Kyle recommended it and whipped it up quickly. Calling this the best hot toddy I have every had is putting it lightly. Definitely coming back here in the future! Would totally suggest grabbing a bar seat as some of the tables looked a bit cramped. Didn't get a chance to see the back yard garden. The seating outside was heated and everyone I saw in there looked cozy and unfazed by the cold. read more

Okay, I have to give this place 11/10. From the beginning, Kayla was amazing and friendly checking us in. My boyfriend and I sat at the bar and Mike & Bobby couldn't have given us a better experience. It was literally phenomenal. I went there yesterday, as they opened-5PM- late lunch for me. I ordered the orecchiette. It would have been great were it not for the saltiness. It was extreme and I found the dish barely edible. My server, with the long poney tail and bright lipstick, asked me if everything was okay, to which I answered it was way too salty. She said she would tell the chef but then, she brusquely grabbed the carafe of water and smiled/ giggled as she filled my glass and said: "here, have more water." It was really odd. Then she left to take another table's order. I sat there, not eating, until the other server,-dark rimmed glasses- asked me if I was enjoying my dinner; I explained the aforementioned issue with it and he readily, without hesitation, offered me the option to choose something else. (I ordered the watermelon salad. ) THAT was professional. To the owners: please advise your younger inexperienced wait staff on how to proceed in such circumstances. Before you dismiss my high praise as a 1st time Yelp reviewer who must be "astroturfing" - which, frankly, I would prob do, too, if I were you - let me just state for the record that I am neither friend nor family. Tbh, I am reluctant to even leave this review for fear that this place will blow up, but f*** it -- they totally deserve every bit of success coming their way! Everything - and I do mean "everything" - about our experience (from location to decor to service to menu to execution to vibe) was totally dial'd in from the jump. Cafe Spaghetti features a focused menu that delivers intensely soulful home-cooking with love, but it is decidedly *not* stuck in time. Let me tell you, this ain't no simple red sauce joint nor is it some "finance bro" temple of Instagram "gastronomy." It is, however, a local gem that is absolutely crushing familiar old-school favorites by displaying a deep respect for tradition that not only honors the past, but subtly pays it forward. To that end, almost every dish benefits from some sort of smart yet simple ingredient tweak that results in a slight variation on the theme (or deviation from the norm) but without ever pretentiously gilding the lily. In this age of branding, it is so refreshing to see ownership that practices restraint and humility, thus prioritizing product over cheap headlines and food porn social media content. And then there's the consummate service. Giovanna is a super-lovable, highly informative and effortlessly engaging rock star GM who shines a fun and relaxed light over your entire meal while everything around her hums with utter efficiency and unassuming professionalism. In fact, as our evening unfolded, we uncharacteristically delegated almost every decision to her ... with complete trust and confidence. Cocktails? Check! Paired wines? You betcha! The right pasta to compliment the apps? Yes, sir! As for Chef Sal, who came out of the kitchen to say hello to total strangers, well, he basically personifies every awesome characteristic of his inviting restaurant, which he not surprisingly also owns. Big grin, big passion, big heart and just an enormous talent w/o a shred of ego or artifice. And not for nothing but every single staffer regardless of position smiled and greeted us coming or going with genuine sincerity. That is not something you can teach or put into a training manual, but it is absolutely something that a smart and evolved owner and manager can identify when hiring staff. So if you want unfussy yet delectable food in a warm and welcoming environment with a ton of human touch and oodles of authenticity, look no further. First time coming to Cafe Spaghetti after I got invited through my food blog...I was thoroughly impressed with the service, ambiance, and most importantly the food! The Brussel sprouts appetizer was one of the BEST Brussel sprouts dishes I've ever had - the pepperoni and parmesan added a whole other level of flavor. Their pastas were delicious and we also enjoyed their version of an Aperol Spritz. The staff was constantly coming over to make Sure we were enjoying our meal and had everything we needed. this is our second time here, the first was amazing, warm and inviting. unfortunately it was not a good experience tonight. there was a new bartender that was clearly nervous and inexperienced, along with a drink menu that no longer has prices for cocktails. the more tenured bartender was chatting to two patrons over the course of our meal, as servers asked him to refire drinks that weren't up to expectations. the tenured bartender recommended his spin on a negroni which turned out to be a premixed drink he charged 19$ for that was good, but was a 12$ cocktail. A very disappoint experience with a surprise charge at the end, with unprofessional bar service. read more

The restaurant has so many seating options, including front porch, backyard, dining room (which is super cozy and quaint), and the bar. We were seated towards the back of the dining room. The entire staff is so friendly from the hosts to the bartenders and servers. We ordered the cacio pepe rice balls (note: not arancini per se because they are not served with marinara sauce), fried artichokes, spaghetti alle vongole (came with a few tomatoes - that's what the macchia rosa means), orecchiette, and tiramisu, along with a couple Spaghetti spritzes. Came here on a friend's recommendation early on a Friday evening with no reservation. Surprisingly they had a table immediately available in their backyard. We were a party of 3 - 2 adults and a toddler and they confirmed we would be ok at a 2 top in the sun, which we were, but I really appreciated that they asked. The staff was super friendly and the food was delicious! We ordered the riceballs, tomato and watermelon salad, the penne with crab, the eggplant parm, and a cannoli to go. We also had a few drinks, I especially enjoyed a drink that was amaro over lemon ice (though I do think this drink was slightly overpriced by comparison to other things). The crab pasta was delicious and I definitely intend to return for more of that in the near future. My kid crushed the watermelon salad and basically refused to share so I only got in a bite and I totally understand why he was hoarding it and saying "yummy!". The rice balls and eggpplant were very good, but I would likely try something new rather than re-ordering these in the future. The cannoli we waited too long to eat once getting home (totally our fault) so I can't give it a fair review, but I will note that the filling was a heavier ricotta style vs a light mascarpone, in case that turns the tables for anyone. My only non-positive comment is that in an effort to cool down the backyard (we came here during the heatwave) they were using fans which were placed very close to the tables, and were a little distracting. To me this isn't a deal breaker, but I guess it's something to consider if you plan to dine outside here while it's hot. read more

My daughter and I luckily caught a table for two in their charming back yard on Tuesday night. I say luckily, because at 5:30 pm, the place was hopping. The tendency when you see the name is to assume, " another run of the mill, Italian place". If you do, you would be so wrong! This is Italian food done perfectly, served by a staff that is both knowledgeable and friendly. Rarely, do you find both those attributes together unfortunately, but we were delighted to find an unpretentious wait staff that was passionate about what they were serving. I could say more but I must speak about the food. Again, the tendency at first glance, is to say, " run of the mill" and I must say, this is where most Italian places go wrong, because simple food is distinguishable only by the quality of the ingredients and the attention paid to the preparation. This is where Cafe Spaghetti excels. Example? I asked our wait person, what brand of dry pasta does the chef use? Minutes later, he returned from the kitchen with a pound package of the imported fusilli they used in making the excellent ragu and pasta I had ordered. It was top of the line. The type I might use for Christmas dinner. We started with drinks. My daughter ordered an Aperol Spritz and I had a local Italian beer. Both very refreshing. Then, we shared a Speidini ( a fried cheese sandwich) that was creamy and delicious in a lemon flavored anchovy sauce that was heavenly. By now, we were really looking forward to our next choices . M ordered the broccoli rabe and sausage on orichette, and I had the ragu ala Nona that was complex and delicious. M's broccoli rabe is another example of simple food with quality ingredients and expert preparation that Cafe Spaghetti does so well. When a dish is right, you taste it immediately in the mouth feel and the perfect blend of ingredients. Both our entrees displayed that perfection I've been crowing about. I ordered a tomato and watermelon salad for us both to share next. There were roasted nuts in the salad browned darkly but without a hint of bitterness and the combination of watermelon and tomatoes was almost dessert like and restored our taste buds. M wanted to finish with a lemon sorbet and again, we both were extremely satisfied but perhaps because the kitchen was so busy, there was enough space between our courses that where we might have felt impatient, we were enjoying the night and the crowd and that feeling of satisfaction so I never once felt my usual " Where's our damned food? " gruffness characteristic of some old Italians. Instead the waiter bought M's sorbet which was again, perfect and (without our asking )an incredibly creamy cannoli with powdered sugar and tiny cherries that was the polar opposite of the sorbet! The ambiance was an outdoor atmosphere but air conditioned. We ordered the tomato, feta and watermelon salad which everyone loved. The ricotta crostini was not like anything I have had. A touch of sweetness with hazelnuts. The crispy brussel sprouts were a favorite. We have three different pasta entrees; spaghetti pomodoro, fussily bolognese and orecchiette.
