I have an awful lot of time for Café Sofias. Great food all day long and very nicely priced too. But you go there for the atmosphere as much as anything else. It's relaxed, extremely friendly and with a decidedly local feel. It helps that the staff are lovely. If you hang around long enough they'll freshen your tea and give you penguin bars-no joke! Great place for a good long chat.

    Love the tea in here.

Upgrading to a five star review. The staff here deserve it, they're the best. On my last visit I spotted how they rushed to the door to help an elderly customer in to the cafe. They helped him to his table then too. As for the fare, well the pot of tea is excellent. And the fryups have chips as well as beans. We recently went to another cafe for breakfast and all I kept thinking about was how it was no way near as good as Sofia's. Enough said.

I agree that the best thing about Café Sofia is that the food is priced right. They have a menu full of items that you would expect to cost a bit - steaks, chicken kiev, pasta, curry and burgers - but everything is really reasonably priced. Does this speak to the quality of the food, some say yes and some say it doesn't matter. The food is decent, but not spectacular. I have only had the coffee and a few of my friend's chips, but they were good. The rest of the group wasn't head over heels in love with their food, though they did like it. It was generously portioned and cheap and they were more than satisfied with that fact. On the other hand, the atmosphere is nice and they have a big outdoor seating area. It is also almost always pretty busy, which goes to show a well-priced meal is quite the crowd-pleaser.

Great fun breakfast place. Fast. Fresh Great prices.

Breakfast was a happy experience at sofias. I can get used to the beans with Irish breakfast. And got to exchange my mushrooms for an additional egg, all at no additional cost. We got a table for four within seconds of walking through the door. Good job sofias.

Unquestionably one of the best frys in town, portions are huge and staff are agreeably fast, friendly and efficient.... its quite a testament to their professionalism given that for the most part they are dealing with the terminally hung over on a Sunday afternoon... I have wandered in on occasion and the place smelled like a stale pub...all due to the clientèle and their collective nasty hangovers.

Dishes were prepared perfectly and everything was really tasty! Amazing breakfast/brunch food. But the place lacks atmosphere.

Since I don't eat red meat, I was very excited to see a vegetarian Irish breakfast option. I ordered this as well as a mocha latte. Despite the rain, my friend and I sat outside since all of the indoor seating was occupied. Thankfully some heaters provided warmth for what could've been a chilly breakfast. Very quickly the lattes came out which my friend and I sipped on. They were soooo cute, mine had the design of a little bear on top! The latte itself was hot and not too sweet, the perfect start to the experience. After a few short minutes, the food came out! Immediately, my friend and I dug in. It was honestly everything I expected and even more! There were no weak links on the plate and there were generous portions as well. I sat there for a while working my way through my delicious plate!! Overall, I was very happy with my experience at Beanhive. It was an aesthetic cafe that also provided a hearty breakfast. I would definitely recommend.

The potato cakes were ok but the avocado served on top was not all the way ripe and therefore a little hard and not very flavorful. The portion sizes kind of seem small but that could be because my girlfriend and I split everything and it was basically a couple of bites from each other's dishes. We got the blueberry lemon pancakes, and a meat dish for the needed protein, so one savory and one sweet, the way breakfast is meant to be worshipped and devoured simultaneously. Beautiful, small place that gets packed very quickly. Interestingly enough I thought it was a French bistro, but I believe the owners hail from Ukraine as that is the country flag that was hung outside the shape if my world history learnings are correct. I cannot recommend this place highly enough and would come back in a New York minute if I get the chance to visit Dublin again. As always people SYOY!!!

I accidentally dropped the top dollop of the croffin and the staff member was very kind to replace it with a new one, which was not necessary but VERY much appreciated! I didn't wait more than 5/10 minutes. I grabbed a couple of different things for us to try -- the focaccia, morning bun, salted caramel roll, and the cinnamon roll. My favorite was easily the focaccia, which could compete with the best I had in Italy -- so good. The morning bun was good, but nothing crazy exciting. The salted caramel roll had to be the least caramel-y caramel roll I've ever had, but it didn't taste bad and the salted part was interesting (in a good way!). The Cinnamon roll was unique, which I appreciate. It had a big glob of cream cheese frosting (too much for me, but I imagine it would float a lot of folks' boats) and some orange flavoring! I quite liked the orange. I wanted to get a matcha to go, but they said they didn't have disposable cups. You could buy a 5 euro reusable one and then if you brought it back you'd get a refund... interesting, but I was leaving that day and wouldn't be back in the area. I can't speak to the ambiance because we were in and out, but it looked like they had a decent amount of space. All in all, I would recommend this place! For me it was a 4, but I'm sure for some it would bop up to a 5.

Sunken below street level it feels more off the main path and you have to keep your eyes out to find it easily. Walking in the place has a real chill and cozy vibe up front. I was seated right way and ordered off their all day menu. I got their Double Baked eggs, brown soda bread, bacon, sausage and roast tomato. For my tastes the double baked eggs were overdone, but that's double baked for you. Everything else was so delicious though that I truly didn't even notice. It was a wonderful pile of meat overflowing out of a little skillet with a stack of soda bread and butter. Truly it was a delight. I also ordered up their irish coffee. This was especially fun because it's not a simple shot of whiskey, coffee and cream. They create a brown sugar syrup blended with the whiskey to cook off the alcohol but retain the flavor. This means you can day drink and not even bat an eye at it being strange. The flavor was delicious and I'll be trying to recreate this at home for sure.
