I was just there the other day. However, I didn't really get a chance to eat. So, here's the thing. The food here is really good. I've had the pancakes, egg cream (delicious), waffles, eggs Benedict, and other items from the Cafe. However, the last time I was there, I was kind of turned off. Here's what happened: I went to the cafe because I wanted a great breakfast experience. It was going to be a long week, so I wanted to start the week off on a great foot. I could have easily gone somewhere else, but I was like, nope! I'm going to Cafe 72. Okay, so I'm there. I'm placing an order and the waitress starts scratching her head (which is a little off putting, since she'll be handling my food). I decide to ignore it. I decided to ignore it so much that I ordered coffee and drank some of it. I was trying not to let what I had seen ruin the experience (and I don't even like their coffee). Then, she rubs her nose. Again, I ignore it, because I know the breakfast is going to be awesome! Another customer comes in. My waitress starts to talk to her and she scratches her head again. A little later, she starts rubbing her eye. Ignore! Ignore!! Ignore!!! I just want my amazing breakfast. However, it was taking longer than anticipated to get my food, even though the place wasn't crowded. That's unusual. While waiting (it's about 15 minutes into it by now), several thoughts run through my head. Should I pull her aside and ask her if she can please wash her hands? Should I ask for another waitress? Should I just leave? I don't want to embarrass her, so I just hope that someone else will be the one to bring my food. So, guess what finally happens? She walks by again to tell me my food is almost ready and passes her finger under her nose. Maybe it was itching. Who knows. While I waited, another waitress passed by and asked me if I had been served yet. I finally decided that was my way out. I told her I needed to leave and mentioned that it had been over 20 minutes. She asked me what I ordered. It was actually a simple breakfast platter. She was surprised that it was taking so long. I offered to pay, even though I hadn't received my food (I just wanted a way out with as little embarrassment as possible. Plus, like I said, it was simple breakfast platter. It wasn't that much money). She asked me if I'd had anything other than a few sips of coffee. She was my hero! She said, "If you didn't eat anything, you don't have to pay." I was grateful. I'm still giving the place 3 stars because the food is terrific. However, my last experience, was not so great. Sadly, I don't know if I'll be back. What if I get the same waitress? Anyway, that being said, they have great food. The egg cream is really nice, as I mentioned earlier. There is only one place I've been to in Jersey with a better egg cream. That other place serves an Italian egg cream. That may be cheating on their part. Both egg cream creams are really good. read more

So my daughter found this place with her friend and told us about it. We went Saturday for lunch and fell in love with it as soon as we saw it. There is not much parking on one side, but you have a small strip mall next to it with more parking. Now my wife and I are Fixer Upper fans with Chip and Joanne and even did the Waco, Texas trip. When we walked in we felt like we were in a Joanne decorated establishment. It is very cute, homey and well done. They even have a nice outdoor sitting area. My daughter ordered a salad, my wife ordered the California Quesadilla and I ordered the Florentine Eggs Benedict. Our waitress was super nice and the food came quick. I have never had fresher Eggs Benedict and the Quesadilla's were amazing. Everything tasted so fresh and the portions were well enough. I will definitely go back numerous times. The price for all three was $45.00, a little on the high side but to be honest I did not mind due to the food quality. My advice is just go!!!! You will enjoy. read more

We went at 9 am on a Saturday morning. It was the perfect time it wasn't too crowded yet. We had the fresh donuts with blackberry compote they came out piping hot and delicious. We also got the traditional eggs benedict as well as a breakfast egg french toast combo. The combo was huge! It was great and enough to share. The eggs benedict were tasty, however the poached egg was a little under done for how like my eggs. The server was kind and kept our waters full. Once we were done eating they were quick to give take home containers. then cleared out plates; we were chatting a bit more and they came to give us a bag for our leftovers. We felt rushed out, but I know they were busier at 1030 and needed our table. My parents wanted to go out to lunch when I was visting them and they suggested Cafe 72. I was not sure because of the location, but knew we would be ok when we entered. The place was not the cleanest, but it was busy. The server was very nice and knew her job. Since everything looked so good on the menu, I could not decided what I wanted and was rushed when I had to pick, so I made a huge mistake! I ordered the Pastrami Benedict with mustard hollandaise. My mistake was it had caramilized onions, but they were not really not too cooked, so I had to pick them off. My meal was ok, but everyone else was happy and that is all that matters! My Mom was happy! I will be back when I visit NJ again and make better choices because everything looked so yummy! read more

Tables are so close together that my party had to get up several times during our meal to let people pass. Some creativity in the menu. My entree included a side, & the server recited a list. She failed to tell me that the one I picked was a $4 upcharge. When I mentioned this to the manager he didn't seem to care. So they got my $4, but lost this customer forever - & the rest of my party of six. read more

This place is usually good. But, today it was awful. I don't know what happened. We have been here many times before. We drive 45 minutes to eat here. The eggs were hard and way overcooked. The bacon was burnt. The peppers and onions that we added as a recommendation from a waitress a while ago were so overcooked and mushy and flavorless. The onions were like from French Onion Soup. Our teenagers' meals of pancakes and breakfast sandwich were normal. Total disappointed. May not come back. read more

my brother-in-law took my wife and I here for breakfast because it is one of his favorite places in town. We went here on a Sunday morning and at first I was pretty skeptical because of the wait that we had in front of us. We were told 20 minutes but it was more like an hour. Even though we were starving we decided to wait it out because he promised that the food was that good.... He was dead on! The food here is amazing! It is very fresh and unique. Our group had a cheese steak omelet, cannoli stuffed French toast, Ruben with onion rings, and the loaded potato hash. Everything was perfect. The wait staff was also very friendly and you could tell that it was an enjoyable place to be. We WILL be back to this place again. read more

This place was awesome ! I got Benedict florentine and it was to die for. Finished it off with fried donuts that had a great blueberry sauce to accompany it. My friends got the pulled pork Benedict and the cafe 72 special and they were both very pleased. The place is cute, quaint, and clean. The staff was very kind and attentive. Wow, this one's a sleeper! I never expected anything this good to be hidden behind a 7-11 but there's a first for everything. I went there twice while visiting, returned because it was so good. I had the Shrimp and Grits and loved it! The staff there are great, really helpful and like to see you enjoy the food. If I ever go back to Ewing, I'm making a point to go have a meal at Cafe 72. read more

Wonderful brunch place! We ordered. A bunch of things, and everything was delicious. My wife thought the French toast was a little too sweet, but was perfect for me :) she ordered the chorizo tostada egg special....wow it was amazing. Service was great as well, we came just minutes before they closed and weren't rushed out - we left 45 minutes after their closing time. Great food and great service! Time after time, take out is what gets me thru the day. And I dont spend my calories frivolously. Snagged a breakfast sandwhich and it was fresh, hot and ready to be devoured. My wife had pancakes. They were the lightest, fluffiest most delicious pancakes we've both ever had. She also loves the hash there. She has been multiple times. I had the meat lovers omlette. Perfectly cooked, diced ham, flavorful bacon and sausage. Delicious. This was my first time eating here and it was a pleasure. Also has a nice ambience with strung lights and pleasant conversation everywhere. Seemed like a good mix of regulars (who the staff referred to by name) and others. Highly recommend this place. I'm not from area. While waiting for my son who is practicing his golf game at the Mountain View public golf course, I found this place to pass the time. The menu offered unique dishes as well as good old traditional selections. I decided to try something new so I tried the Portobello Tower. It was delicious. I visited this place based on the yelp reviews, since it seems to be very difficult to find a good breakfast place near Hamilton. I was afraid from the outside appearance that we had made a mistake and was going to be hung by my accompanying family members, since I was the one "savy" enough to pick the place. Once inside my fears were appeased since it was very welcoming and the staff was very friendly. We all had a variety of meals, from pumpkin pancakes, to tiramisu french toast, to a simple bacon and eggs. Everyone enjoyed their meals, which is always a hard thing to accomplish. We will come back and explore the menu further and hope that this place can remain consistent. read more

The food was so delicious. I absolutely loved their coffee. The home fries were probably my favorite I've ever had. I also loved their Pumpkin Spice Pancakes and they were so good, didn't even need the tiramisu cream it comes with, or the cinnamon butter, so delicious without them.
