This place is a hidden gem and I'm so glad I finally remembered about this place. They offer authentic Korean food from bibimbap with different proteins, tokbokki, japchae just to name a few. Portions are good enough to share amongst 2 people. Tokbokki was very spicy but so good! I got it as a combo that came with fried seaweed rolls. The spicy pork bibimbap was very good too (wish I got bulgogi instead so I could taste everything besides spiciness). Chow fun was okay but wouldn't order again. I also tired the veggie pancake, I think it was a special they offered so it's not on their menu. You order at the counter and they will bring your food out to you. Portions are huge! There's a few tables inside where you can dine in. We popped in for a late lunch and by the time we got our food, we were the only ones eating inside the restaurant. I also saw a large group of Korean women enjoying themselves inside, so I knew this place had to be legit. We ordered the veggie kimbap ($13), BibimGuksu ($18), and garlic shrimp ($20). I was starving and the food definitely hit the spot. Kimbap was standard and I inhaled it in minutes. The bibimguksu was great for a hot day. I opted for the gochujang instead of the soy sauce for an extra kick. I also requested no beef and the employees kindly subbed kimchi instead. It's not a heavy dish at all and the leafy greens it comes with actually makes it feel quite healthy. In contrast to my dish, my boyfriend's garlic shrimp was rich and more on the heavier side. I had this place bookmarked for a little while now...today we decided to try someplace new. We are so glad we did, it's in a a strip mall off of Lipoa in Kihei. It's a small place that had lots of to go orders going out. We sat in to dine, not a lot of tables available, but we came in around 1:45 so not too busy. Ordered spicy chicken, tteokbokki with gochujang, veggie kimbap and spicy chicken bibimbap, egg over hard, side of kimchi and 6 purple corn teas. The purple Woongjin corn tea is so refreshing. The veggie kimbap is colorful and pretty and yummy too. Doesn't even need any sriracha, then again they likely don't have it either. The spicy chicken bibimbap is good. The spicy chicken is super flavorful, maybe too intensely so too. The bibimbap has a good blend and balance of veggies too. Spinach, carrots, red cabbage, radishes, zucchini, mushrooms and bean sprouts. My only complaint is that the mushrooms are the dried shiitake rehydrated and they are too rubbery to me. The spicy chicken is decent. The spicy chicken is a tad fatty. Ordered 4 purple corn tea to go and a side of kimchi too. It's weird to eat Korean food without kimchi. The side of kimchi is okay, a bit more mature and ripe than I would like, but decent flavors. The tteokbokki is spicy, nice flavors and not badly done here. The kimbap and the tteokbokki are two of the best items ordered here. The purple corn tea is highly marked up at $5 a pop here, we pay $1.99-$2.99 at H Mart back at home or even a small Korean market back at home. read more

If you love Korean food, this is the place to go!!!! This is so long over due. We have been here so many times and just writing this review makes me wanna go here for dinner. Their meat jeon is SO soft, not fatty, it's so delicious. They also have bulgogi jeon and the first time I ordered this I thought it might be the same thing but ITS NOT!! The bulgogi jeon has vegetables and is almost like a Korean type of okonomiyake. It's so good. And here's a good tip - if you don't finish it all, put it in your air fryer and you'll have the best left overs!!!!! The Kim jeon is similar to the bulgogi jeon and is also an excellent choice. We also love the sesame garlic tofu! If you're lucky, they might have mandoo when you go. We have only gotten mandoo twice so far and it's huge! Full of meat and lots of yumminess, they do not skimp on anything here. Everything we have tried here has been excellent but I love their jeons the best. The portions are large and the prices are very reasonable, so if you are price conscious then this is a good stop for you. Also, if you aren't particularly hungry then a single entree could possibly suffice for two people. For our order, we got the soondobu and the bibimbap. The soondobu has about a medium spiciness level, so be aware of this before you order (in case you usually order mild). Overall, the dish was mediocre. The broth had a bit too many spices (not related to the spiciness) but perhaps needed a bit more salt. The broth wasn't as simple and smooth as you would experience at other Korean restaurants. They also weren't particularly liberal with the seafood. The bibimbap was top notch and is definitely worth a try. The arugula and spinach were great additions. The rice was made well and wasn't too crunchy (like some other restaurants). The beef was also tasty and wasn't too salty. read more

Well, it's a year later and we were so excited to go back to Cafe Moon today. The owner surprisingly remembered us from last year which was sweet. Again we ordered lots of veggie options (too much on purpose) so we'd have leftovers for the week. The small restaurant was packed with people and more kept coming, plus the take out orders. Yikes....they really need to hire another person to help so the customers don't have to wait so long for their dishes. Also, there is definitely space for another table or two as only 14 people can sit with the current configuration. We loved the flavors of the dishes we got today; the portions were very ample however EVERYTHING was swimming in oil. This restaurant is located in a shopping center with ample parking. The restaurant does not have a bathroom, but the bathroom is located a few doors down. It is simply decorated with a few table and chairs. After many nights of fine dining, some of which were very disappointing, Cafe Moon was a breath of fresh air. My family ordered to share, beef bulgogi bibimbap, seafood jeon ( seafood pancake) and pork soondubo jjigae (pork tofu stew). Everything was very good and perfectly seasoned. Sadly I only remembered to take a pick of the bibimbap. The owners were very nice and I highly recommend giving this place a try. As soon as we walked in, we were promptly greeted and given a few minutes to look over the menu. I was totally excited for some korean food so we ordered a lot. We tried the korean bbq chicken, spicy squid plate, seafood jeon, and bulgogi bibimbap. We seated ourselves and within a few minutes our food started coming out. Located in the Lipoa Center, Local/Korean food has finally made it's way to Kihei! My mom had heard about this place from a few people, so she stopped by to grab a couple things. Got the kimbop & chow fun. The chow fun was on the sweeter side. It had char siu & I think ground pork in it. I thought it had great flavor, even though I am more of a savory fan. The bulgogi kimbop was also very tasty filled with a wide array of veggies. Pricing did seem a bit high, but the portion size was generous. The kimbop could've been a meal in itself. After having poke nearly every meal, my friends and I decided to get some Korean food near our Airbnb. The restaurant is super small, with just a couple tables. Fortunately, there was no line and no problem finding a table. We ordered up front and sat down to wait for our food. The only drawback was that we had to wait quite awhile for our meals. I ordered the soondubu jigae. It was probably one of the best I've ever had. The jigae had a lot of seafood in it and the soup was rich with flavor. Fantastic home style Korean food. The Spicy Pork Bibimbap and Vegetable Japchae were the best food of my trip to Maui.

I'm speechless! The food here is absolutely amazing. The Gyozas and the sauce (perfection). The Bulgogi (perfection)... My most recent craving and food addiction is their Spicy Chicken (I'd say perfection again but it's more than that), it's hands down one of the best chicken dishes on island. If I say it's nearly too good to be true, you have to go try it for yourself so you believe me. I don't lie about these things. Good food is important to me and my family. Definitely a gem in the mostly empty shopping plaza it resides in. At the time of my visit (9/2021), dine in was available although there aren't many tables to sit at. We opted for take out for this reason! Items we ordered (as of 9/2021). - Bulgogi Kimbap - $13 - This was really good (especially considering all the work that goes into making it! The bulgogi was delicious and paired well with the crunchy vegetables it was wrapped with! - Spicy Pork Bibimbap - $17 - Also very tasty with a very reasonable spice level (won't leave your mouth on fire). I would recommend this dish! - Spicy Tokbokki - $15 - For spicy lovers this will be your dish. Comes in a boiling red hot sauce (seriously looks like lava) that will satiate all spicy food lovers out there. It was way beyond my spice tolerance but the missus really loved it. - Char Sui & Ground Chow Fun - $16 - This was intriguing to me but unfortunately was the most mediocre of what we ordered. It wasn't bad per say just nothing spectacular. The char sui was rather meh. I would stick to the Korean cuisine. Cafe Moon is such a sleeper restaurant and I am about to wake you guys up. With almost no choices for korean food on the island, this is the best spot if you are craving korean food. For starters, the gyoza was very crispy and very fresh, did not taste frozen at all. I ordered the pork kimchi stew and added spam and it was so flavorful. We also ordered the veggie fried rice and the cold soba noodles whose flavors absolutely exploded in our mouths. The portions are so big, you could make two meals out of each dish if you really wanted to. we spent two hours enjoying our food and each other's company in this comfortable little restaurant. the man who helped us was extremely nice and we had a delightful conversation with him. i am even eager to say i would even claim him as my uncle. he was very welcoming and he meshed so well into our conversation that i wanted him to order a meal and eat right next to me. Wow. I've lived in LA (frequented K-Town) and have plenty of authentic Korean restaurants nearby in the Bay Area - Cafe Moon is a little treasure here in Maui for those craving Korean food. Kimchee fried rice portion is very generous, as is their bulgogi. Flavors are really authentic and food is not greasy (yay!). Restaurant does take out and there is enough seating here for a handful of parties (of 3-4 each). read more
