Came here on a weekday night and we were seated immediately. The space is well decorated and comfy, great for large parties. The service was wonderful from beginning to end, we had the most attentive and friendly waiter. As for the food, everything was delicious. We had the buffalo fried calamari (was great), pork chops wrapped with prosciutto and mozzarella (could be larger to coincide with the price), and a pizzette that was fresh and loaded with cheese (no complaints there). Just had a dinner party of 20 here. Owner very nice when I booked and very accommodating but when got there with guests it looked like the table was set by children. They jammed my guests in with no room. When asked them to add tables or do something it took like 8 minutes while my guests all looking on to even work something out while my husband had to move tables himself. Very embarrassing for us. We had apps and the calamari and zucchini were horrible. The only good course was the Cesar salad and penne a la vodka before main dish. We had a canoli occasion cake which had all cream and hardly any canoli. PLUS... i didn't even realize until next day we didn't even get assorted cookies on the table with cake which was in the package we chose and paid for. Cafe Gio's is conveniently located off of Sunrise Hwy or locally off of Hubbards Path. The restaurant itself is nicely decorated and makes you feel like you're in a steakhouse rather than a pizzeria. Although I have yet to try their pasta, the pizza never disappoints. I've stopped in more than I'd like to admit during my lunch hour. It gets pretty busy, so if you have a limited time I would suggest ordering ahead. My only complaint is that the one time I've had zeppoles they were pretty greasy, but other than that it's delicious. Give it a try! You won't regret it read more

Went there the other night, Tuesday. Slow night, went for Pasta night. 6 people. 2 people had "ordered" 1 glass of wine each. Bill came, and without studying the bill, my mom paid $180.00 (and change). One of the people in our party, left the waitress, Jill, $40.00 tip in cash. The next day when our was disclosed how much the bill was, we called, and then went in person to discuss the high bill. It turns out that not only were we overcharged for a glass of wine ( menu says 9.00, charged 12.00), the waitress added in a $28.00 tip, without informing us, so then she was tipped on top of her tip. But now there is a new, smaller menu (there WAS way too many pasta dishes on the old one.) and a majority of the prices went up several dollars. I stumbled upon this place, and it looks like I picked the best of the lot right off the bat! The pizza here is DELICIOUS! But that's not all! The regular food is fantastic as well! They have weekly Pasta Night specials on Mondays and Chicken Night Specials on Thursdays. These come with your choice of dish, a salad, garlic knots, coffee or tea, and dessert. Trust me on this, when you go, get the cheesecake for dessert. I don't know where they get it from, but it is BY FAR the single best slice of cheesecake I've EVER eaten. Better than Whistle Stop? Wow this place was a gem! I didn't expect the food to be sooooo tasty. My boyfriend took me here, I was hungry and as usual didn't know what I wanted to eat. When we arrived, I honestly thought we were gonna grab a couple slices of pizza to go but we decided to dine in and I'm so happy we did! Our waitress Jules was a pleasure to have, she was funny, attentive, and made me super excited to try everything!! Lol whenever we ordered something she would make an expression that just made us know we made a delicious choice. The margarita was extremely refreshing, and had me feeling nice! Then we also got a Caesar salad which was filled with Parmesan cheese and croutons and the garlic knots were to die for!!!! Soooo buttery and flavorful probably the best I've had. Then for the lobster ravioli I'll admit I was way too full to eat but it was a great lunch the next day. The SAUCE omg I'm still thinking about it and the restaurant supplies a generous supply of it!! Don't have to worry about your pasta being dry if you decide to have leftovers the next day! (The italian food is fantastic for all you non-Italians out there ^_^) I used to come to this place firstly for pizza because they not only have a great selection of yummy pizza to choose from, but they also have a "restaurant" portion where you can sit down and enjoy a full three course Italian style dinner. The restaurant menu is out of this world! So many classic Italian dishes/options to choose from! Don't get me wrong a little pricey, but definitely worth it. Cafe Gio's website advertises Wednesday Dinner Specials with 23 entrees at $14.95 each. We figured it was worth a try. NOT!! When we were seated, we were presented with the Wednesday Specials menu. The list of entrees was the same as the website, but there was no price indicated. I asked our waitress to confirm the $14.95 price and was informed that Wednesday Specials are now $17.95! I pointed out the website pricing and instead of saying she'd honor the price (because it is falsely advertised!!!), she told us "they need to take that site down! We get calls all the time for things on that site that we don't even make anymore!" So, my wife and I each order a special. My chicken parm (which is on the regular menu for $17.95...I guess the pasty cheesecake and a cup of coffee are what make it "special") arrives ice cold. My wife's chicken sorrentino (cutlets layered with prosciutto, eggplant and mozzarella) is the saddest thing I've ever seen served in an Italian restaurant. Three really small pieces of chicken side by side on a plate. The middle piece has half dollar size toppings of prosciutto, mozz and eggplant. The other two pieces are bare. We let the waitress know how unhappy we were with my wife's dish ( I kept quiet about the temperature of my dinner because I was starving and just ate it). After the waitress agreed that we should be upset and said the kitchen staff should know better, she quickly removed it and offered a replacement. My wife's second dinner certainly looked better but the rubber chicken made the dish barely edible. Earlier in the evening we informed our waitress that we were going to need a dinner order to go. She took the order and told us she'd put it in when our dessert was served so it would be ready when we paid our check. That never happened!!! 30 minutes after we were done with dinner and ready to leave, we were still waiting for the take out order. We should have just cancelled it. When we got home, my son opened a dinner that contained hard uncooked pasta and two tiny pieces of chicken swimming in greasy sauce!! So here are a few tips for Cafe Gio: 1) Change the pricing on your website or honor it when customers ask. Right now you are guilty of false advertising and that's illegal! 2) If your servers make a mistake that keeps customers sitting at table for an extra 35 minutes, offer them a free glass of wine. It will go a long way toward making the wait more tolerable. We didn't even get our water glasses refilled!! 3) To our waitress (you know who you are), if you're bringing a dish to a table and it doesn't look right to you, DON'T SERVE IT!! Complaining to your customers about the kitchen staff doesn't make it OK. It means you knew the dish looked like crap and served anyway. And when you said you wouldn't blame us if we never came back, I was so relieved because we won't be back and I might have lost some sleep if I thought you blamed me. 4) Lose the cheesecake! DON'T BUY GIFT CARDS HERE! I tried to use one, granted it was old because I forgot about it for a while, and they refused to accept it. There was no expiration date and I looked it up online and it said it was available to use for $40. We are not strangers to this restaurant. We live in the neighborhood and used to eat there at least once a week with my family. We always used them for pizza too. To make things even worse, the owner, who refused to accept it, wouldn't even talk to us face to face or return our calls. Waitresses are very nice and understanding but with all the really good and reputable Italian restaurants in the area, this guy has lost us as customers! Let me start by saying we haven't been there in a couple of years, but we always enjoyed the food and service. Sadly ,this was not the case yesterday. We decided to stop in for their Wednesday night special. Their website says for $17.95 you get an entree, salad, pasta ,coffee and desert, which sounded good. First when we got there, the hostess seemed a bit overwhelmed, so she had the busboy take us as he set up our table, no biggie. The kid got us some water and menus right away. We looked at the menu and didn't see the previous mentioned special. What we got was a special chef menu along with the regular menu. Well this chefs menu had the entree's I saw on line but the pasta, salad ,desert and coffee were ala carte. So these were $3/4 a piece, with all entree's priced at $13, now the price would be $22/25 altogether instead of $17.95. Well we wanted to ask why the difference in price, but we did not see a waitress for the 15 minutes we were there. So we had a bad taste in our mouth with the prices advertised versus the menu prices, so we left. A previous poster mentioned this happened to him and was told those are the old prices online, but they would not adjust the price. This is not good business, it gives the impression of bait and switch. Let me say it looked like there was only one waitress but we were not sure, because we saw another girl but just for a minute. Keep in mind the place was only half full, we and one other couple were the only ones in the front section at 6:30. I would not be surprised if they left also as they were looking around when we left. Whatever the are paying that busboy, it is not enough. That kid was running his ass off trying to make up for the place eibeing understaffed or the less then enthusiastic coworkers. Overpriced and nothing to write home about. Tried to order 2 chicken Parmesan hero's and 6 garlic knots to pick up. I was quoted $28+. We called back because when you look on their online menu it was $18 for the heroes and 3 for the knots. We were told that the menu is old and these are the new prices. When we explained it was off their site the woman said no those prices are wrong. Each hero went up $3. No offer to honor the price so we cancelled. I've been to Cafe Gio twice now, and I can honestly say it's an alright place. It's not my first choice, but I don't mind coming here. Tonight we were seated right away, even though it seemed to be pretty busy. It did take awhile for a server to greet us though. When she did finally come to us, she was extremely sweet and pleasant! I ordered a soda, which was awful. It was flat and watered down. The syrup needed to be changed badly. But whatever, I didn't mention it to our server. It wasn't a big deal. The salad and garlic knots that come with the meal are great! Everyone is right about that salad dressing, it's delicious! I ordered the pasta fanatico. It had rigatoni pasta with asparagus, mushrooms and chicken in a pink pesto sauce. It was pretty yummy. I just didn't like the chicken that was in it. It was a little chewy, and had an off putting flavor. I pushed all of that to the side. It was a lot of food, I wrapped up most of it to go! When we were finished our server came over quickly and promptly gave us the bill. Again, Cafe Gio is a nice place if you are in the area. I myself just wouldn't make it a regular destination. A+. I generally am not a big fan of the "pizza place in a strip mall" but this place is worth going too. Friendly counter staff and waiters/waitresses. Very warm environment. Excellent and extensive menu. We started with a plain pizza and pizza with chicken. All done to perfection. We also tried the chicken Parm sub and chicken fingers. Each was better than the next. Pizza is a thin crust foldable delight reminiscent of an old school city slice. Give it a half star if you like it juicy.

Pasta night not as good as it used to be. Don't waste your money here.. Mama 's in Copiague is the place to go for a good Italian meal out!
