The service was fast and friendly. There with a large open service area you can order and wait for without feeling like you're in the way. Completely opposite of the regular mom and pop strip mall type pizzeria, where you're crammed in a little galley way. Immediately greeted when we came in as well, our order was taken without being pushed and accommodated when we asked for some slices to be cut in half. We split a Greek slice, and warmed it up on suggestion in the oven. Definitely worth it. I tried the garlic cheese sticks and Buffalo slice as well. Buffalo slice was not as anticipated (did not make my eyes sweat) but that doesn't mean it wasn't good just a personal preference. It was more blue cheesy than Buffalo. They make my favorite regular slice on the Island. The owner grew up in Italy and makes one of the best REGULAR SLICES that I have had outside of NYC. This is a great pizza sauce. Bravo! Crust is just thin enough to allow you to hold the slice when it is baked well done, as I insist. And the cheese is just a little chewy, tasty and not over played. The food taste is delicious but the presentation is not. The Veal was tender & delicious. The Lasagna looks like it came right out of the oven. It was a total flop but it was still delicious. I did not call ahead. I walked in and ordered a large pie. I came back exactly 10 minutes later. The person behind the counter said "just a few more minutes" and I said "no problem, no rush." About a minute later I was told my pie was ready. Went to my car, grabbed a slice because I was very hungry, and the pizza was lukewarm, with cold spots in the slice!!! Obviously, I was given a pizza that was meant for someone else and had been sitting for a while. I can only surmise that they did this since I was already on site, possibly because they thought I was in a hurry, but I was really looking forward to a fresh, hot pizza, and would gladly have waited a few more minutes. I returned to Pizzaiola to sample a little bit more of their fare. Tale of the tape: Garlic Knots Small and bite-sized, they are somewhat doughy on the chew. When heated up proper, they have a good, satisfying amount of garlic flavor, which is unfortunately overshadowed by the heavy consistency of the inside of the knot. I heated mine up at home in a toaster oven for 20 minutes at 275 degrees. It was enough to give a decent crunch to the outside of the knot, yet the inside remained doughy. A slight re-work of these knots to a lighter texture could well make them a very good knot. Grandma Vodka Slice Tasted thick despite the thin crust, it was savory on the bite. However, there is not nearly enough vodka sauce on the slice for one to determine if Pizzaiola's vodkas sauce is any good. This is a shame, as I've had their Penne a la Vodka pasta dish, and it's quite good, though expensive. See my picture, you'll wonder why the cheese to sauce ratio is off, tipped way over to the cheesy side. An effort should be made to bring this slice closer to the sauce side of the Force, especially so since their sauce is respectably good! read more

I recently stopped in this location, and it is wonderful. My sister lives in the area, so I found a great location for pizza. I ordered a Grandma pie, well done, and it was wonderful. The crust was crispy, the sauce was phenomenal, and there was just the right amount of mozzarella on it. I also ordered a few Buffalo slices, which were so good, that I wish I had ordered more. The garlic knots were very tasty, just the right amount of garlic, and were completely fresh. I live all the way out in Nassau, but I plan on coming here when I'm in the area. Anyone living around there, it's a great location to have pizza. The other food, I didn't try. The greatest thing too? Uncle Giuseppe's is next to it. read more

Three stars isn't necessarily a "bad" review. It's average or A-OK (as Yelp likes to say). And with that knowledge in hand I can say that about Pizzaiola. My good friend and Yelp-dabbler, Aarti R. Iives near this pizza place and had taken out from here a few times, spawning her first ever review (hooray!) and a reason to go when I visited a few weeks ago. It's nestled in the corner of a shopping center, but once inside you do see some style to the place. No plastic booths or sun-worn tables. Things actually look relatively dapper (yes, dapper). The same can't entirely be said about the pizza...well, at least at first glance. Selection wasn't that vast, but I'll give it to them on a semi-late Tuesday night. They did have the friend-favorite buffalo chicken slice so I snagged two of those (one for me and one for my GF who was meeting up with us soon after). I also went for a white slice and grandma slice to round things out for my lady and I. While ordering/waiting, we mildly conversed with one of the employees, though his comedic attitude didn't entirely rub me the right way (and I usually love that stuff!). I also didn't love that he chatted a bit too much and gave our pizza a little unnecessary burn and only supplied us with one cup of blue cheese for the two buff-chick slices. Meh. Back at our friend's place we dove in. That buffalo chicken lived up to the hype and was a meat-filled slice with a little kick to it. As for "grandma", nothing too special. My girlfriend had the white slice and didn't believe it as good this time (she had devoured one prior and found it better then). Perhaps a third trip for her will divulge the truth? Who knows. Overall, what I do know is I wasn't as impressed as I was hoping to be, especially with the pizza. Maybe a sit-down dinner would suffice better? Either way, it's great Aarti R. likes this spot (to each his own, because that's what makes the Yelp world go round), but I can't say I'd make a trip here for any reason other than knowing it's nearby her place. We have had plain, pepperoni, meatball, peppers, and every time the toppings were fresh and generous. Great local slice shop. Located in the corner of a shopping center it can be alittle crowded but the food and service are worth the Mayhem. I ordered the "four horseman" of a local slice shop to audition them for a spot in my regular rotation (as my usual local joint has been slacking). Regular, Sicilian, specialty slice and some type of menu item. Regular pizza is on point. Great football pizza that you can plow down any random Friday from January till December. Specialty slice (margherita) was nice and thin as it should be. Sauce could use alittle more Tang but the ingredients were fresh and you can't ask for anything else getting something like this from a local joint. Veggie roll (menu item) was very cheesy (which for my wife is a must). Shops also tend to cheat flavors on these so they add extra garlic. They did not do this which is very important! Bonus points for that. In terms of service they had me in and out of there quickly. They saw I grabbed a menu to take with me (which is the universal symbol of first timer) so they tossed in a few extra garlic knots which smell amazing (I haven't tried them yet to be honest).
