I want to love cafe eleven and they definitely have some delicious dishes there. They have the most amazing peanut butter cookies and a yummy brunch buffet. Unfortunately there are some aspects of this place that are hard to overlook. Firstly, their bathrooms are NASTY! They have a horrible smell and it just makes me question the cleanliness of the entire establishment. They're basically unusable in my opinion. Secondly, I ordered a quesadilla there just yesterday, which I found a long blonde hair in. I had to throw the entire thing away because I was too grossed out to eat it. The breakfast buffet was terrible! It has 4Stars on here so we thought we would give it a try. The staff was super nice and the restaurant was clean. The buffet had a variety of items but all of which are were poorly prepared. The eggs had to be carved out because they were so well done (almost grey in color). The bacon was really greasy and the pancakes made to order were SO doughy. No amount of syrup would fix that! Not a good value and def would recommend you looking elsewhere. Disappointing to spend $30 on breakfast when our hotel offered a buffet as well for free. We were looking forward to a nice home cooked meal. read more

We are locals and love the food here. Their menu is varied and delicious. Prices are reasonable and people/service is always great. The Saturday and Sunday buffet is wonderful featuring made to order pancakes and omelettes as well as fresh salad, muffins (to die for when they are baked there) fruit, grits and biscuits, sausage and bacon, scrambled eggs plain and with spinach and tomatoes, plantains, homestyle potatoes and French Toast. Vegetarian or Carnivore - there is plenty for everyone. We eat here every week and are always please. The wine is good, the beers are unique and varied and the music / talent is abundant. The only negative I have is the place is VERY loud when busy, the music is VERY loud when it doesn't have to be for the venue, and the crowds are daunting. It was Sunday Breakfast Buffet - good selection of 2 kinds of eggs, bacon/sausage, biscuit & gravy, fruit, plantains, home fries, French toast, and salad bar - everything from carnivore to vegetarian! And on top of that they had to rush me to order pancakes and omelettes with everything you could possibly want inside. The price was right at $10.95 too! This is the kind of place that could only exist in a laid-back, Southern beach-bum town like St. Augustine Beach. It serves coffee, breakfast, lunch, bubble tea, beer, and apparently comes alive at night with live music - hey, this place is large enough, and there's a very nice stage! I was there for breakfast. I can't say no to coffee and pumpkin pancakes, and neither disappointed - generous serving, fluffy 'cakes, good coffee. Ultra-friendly service in that beach-bummy kind of way....it's hard to describe, but you know what I'm talking about. Cheery, jovial, seemingly without much care beyond serving great pancakes and what the surf's doing later. What a life. I could get used to this. I should have ordered a beer just for the novelty of having a beer in a coffee shop at 9:30AM on a weekday - that draft Pumking had my name on it. A Pumking with pumpkin pancakes, that would have been something. Oh well. I did, however, order a taro bubble tea to finish things off. Unfortunately, this wasn't so awesome. It was like drinking taro-flavored milk; too much milky flavor and not enough taro. I felt like I was drinking a glass of milk, and I don't think I'd had a glass of milk since age 11. If you're starving this is an easy way to get a quick bite at the buffet. They had two dollar mimosas which was awesome but they did have a lot of Orange juice. The guy at the omelet station was cooking the eggs and then just adding the toppings at the end so none of the toppings were cooked. If you're running an omelette station you should probably have somebody who knows how to make omelettes. The restaurant itself was cute. They should add a place where you can put your plates when you're done. I wanted to get more food on a new plate but had to wait for somebody to come and take my plate. Awful service, no organization behind the bar, a staff that doesn't have any clue how to prioritize tasks. The place was half full, and the staff made it feel like it was overbooked with a line out the door. You have to order your drinks at the bar, and our server took two orders behind us and made their drinks after making us wait for ten minutes. When we finally asked her about it, she sarcastically responded "I'm working on a bunch of drinks right now". I'm sorry, but my girlfriend and I have been in the service industry for years. You never talk to a customer like that. We waited for about 10 minutes before getting seated and had an inside table. This is a buffet brunch and it's about $12 (not bad!) with great selection. There's fruits, salad, scrambled eggs plain and one with cheese, spinach and tomatoes, or you can opt for a custom omelette. There's also potatoes, french toast, biscuits and gravy, bacon and sausage. You can even custom make pancakes! There's a hefty selection so you will come away stuffed! I liked the custom made pancakes -- you can have chocolate chip, strawberry or walnuts and others I cannot remember. I had a walnut pancakes, delicious and very filling! The eggs with cheese was good and I liked their potatoes! Nothing disappointed me and the price was right. Free refills on coffee and use the check in for a smoothie. Glad our friends took us here! What a great place. Going into Cafe Eleven is exciting because of the vibe you get from the parking lot. Cool people, relaxing outside sitting at tables and and even couches. Going inside and seeing this cool stage and atmosphere made it even more exciting. The people working were getting ready for the evenings crowd taking pictures of food, menu boards of specials to post on their websites. Although it feels similar to a cool coffee shop, the menu is completely different. The selections are great and hard to choose form because they all sound so good. We all ordered so many different selections and to our surprise every item was exactly as described on the menu; The basil chicken pasta, seashell pasta tossed with grilled chicken, fresh basil, tomatoes, garlic and enhanced with the perfect amount of seasoning. The Blackened Salmon served over a bed of mixed greens, was served with walnuts, & Gorgonzola cheese. Served with home made raspberry vinaigrette dressing. Everything blended perfectly together. The Steak quesadillas was made with grilled steak marinated cilantro and lime, mozzarella cheese, fresh avocado, green peppers, & onions. All stuffed and grilled in a sun-dried tomato wrap. All of the other items we tried were so good. We left stuffed. I do have to add that the service was amazing. There wasn't one person including the manager that wasn't working hard to ensure everyone was taken care of. Definitely a place where people are passionate about food and service. I have lived in St. Augustine full-time for 2 1/2 years and visited here regularly for 8 years and I don't know how in the world I missed Cafe Eleven until a few weeks ago! I am shocked and appalled that I've missed this fabulous eatery, but happy and grateful that I finally found it! As a person who eats a mostly vegan and always vegetarian diet, there just aren't that many good places to eat around here (don't worry, I'm making sure to review every place I can find that has some really good vegetarian/vegan options!). So, imagine my surprise when I finally wandered into Cafe Eleven and found a whole vegetarian menu!!! Here's what I've had there so far: 501 Salad - AMAZING!!! Avocado Melt - AMAZING!!! Tempeh Panini - AMAZING!!! I was going to try and come up with creative, tantalizing reviews of each dish, but I'm just going to stick with AMAZING!!! because it just says it all.
