Cafe Du Monde is the go-to for beignets in New Orleans. This is a quick franchise stop just north of the airport in Kenner and very convenient to hit while translating. This particular location was dead on a Sunday afternoon (~4:30pm). A few other families came in and out. No complaints. Whatsoever. Of course the location in the Quarter is classic, but this location uses the same recipe and has the same friendly service. And it was practically next door to our Convention site. The beignets are light, flavorful, not too sweet, and physically melt in your mouth. The chickory coffee is my favorite kind of coffee in the world (world = monde en francais, so this is very appropriately named.) This location is about half an hour from the French Quarter. We stayed in New Orleans for two nights and were looking forward to a leisurely breakfast of beignets and coffee. It's literally part of what prompted this trip, as an add on to our trip to Mississippi! I've been dreaming about beignets for a while, not having had them for a number of years from Café Du Monde itself. My parents took me to New Orleans when I was a kid and after that, dad used to make beignets from the CDM mix. With a looong drive ahead of us home, we opted not to go to the café in the French Quarter, but rather come to this location on the way out of town. The beignets were just delicious. Pillowy and spongy, with a delightfully crisp outside. Warm. Yummy. Even better dunked in coffee! I'm not typically a coffee drinker, so I had gotten milk to go with my treats. Chris got coffee. He usually takes it black, but they had put in what I guessed was steamed milk. He didn't love it, so I swiped it. It had a terrific, rich, full flavor and the milk made it creamy. The beignets were hearty enough to stand up to the hot liquid and it made for a terrific combination. They had an array of mugs, their brand of chicory coffee and boxes of beignet mix for sale, the latter of which is coming home with me. By the time I finished, powdered sugar adorned my face, my hands, my phone, my pants (which were black, lol), and the table. Chris only got it on his hands - he was raised in Louisiana and commented, "I was born to eat this food." ;) If you're looking for the total experience, I'd recommend going to the location in the French quarter. Cafe Du Monde is classic New Orleans and always a treat, whether for locals or tourists. There isn't much better than an order or two (or three) of beignets and a frozen cafe au lait. All of the locations are pretty solid with the one in the Quarter being the best environment as the original stand. Only thing that gets me about Cafe Du Monde is their continual rise in prices. Every time I go it seems they've gotten more and more expensive. Particularly for a place that locals support, not cool. read more

This Kenner location has a spacious and orderly dining room with outlets along the wall for those plugging in laptops. Cafe au lait here is tops!!! Served hot in their standard ceramic mugs. The beignets are beyond goodness- this goes without saying. If you can resist the beignets then this is a good study/work site. read more

Don't get this wrong, I am a huge fan of this place. I hate to give them such a poor review but due to the service at this location that's what it deserves. The parking lot was full to capacity so we settled on going through the drive thru. Huge mistake! We ordered two cafe au laits & 2 orders of beignets, from there we hit the road. Much to our dismay our coffee was extremely bitter. I could tell by the color there wasn't enough cream. I ended up tossing my $7 coffee. (I did get a souvenir cup by getting a large) We couldn't eat the beignets in the rental car without getting powdered sugar EVERYWHERE. We had hoped to eat inside but it was packed out with no overflow parking available. I realize it's a popular place & especially down on Royal you should expect a wait but I wish they offered more parking space here by the airport even if you have to wait in a line inside. You cannot eat these things without making a mess! Once we reached our destination the beignets had started to get hard & unfortunately lost that hot & fresh allure they hold. Café Du Monde was super smart to open a location here. I knew a trip to CDM was in order on my recent trip home. We usually go to the main location in the French Quarter but time got away from us and ,before you know it, my trip was coming to a close. Before catching my early flight, we decided to have beignets here to skip the parking situation in the FQ. I didn't get a chance to look at their hours but they were open at 7ish in the morning (The one in the FQ is a 24/7 location except on select major holidays)! The space is located on Williams Blvd in Kenner which is merely minutes from the airport. We had no trouble parking since they have their own private lot. The location is huge with lots of tables and we dealt with no lines. Plus you're in the AC. They also take credit cards here which is a plus since I never seem to have enough cash when I'm at the FQ one (they are cash only). The employees were super friendly considering it was so early in the morning so they get 2 thumbs up from me! And it was a Sunday! The beignets were hot, fresh and delicious as always. Had to get a Café au lait to go with it too. They also have a huge selection of souvenirs like beignet mix, coffee, mugs. They even have Tervis tumblers with the logo! This will probably be my go to location to get my beignet fix on my way out of town. Especially since they lack a location in the Southwest concourse. read more

I couldn't wait to return to nola and one reason was of course the beignets. Every time I saw a location, I stopped to get an order because it will probably be several years before I'm able to get back. This location had a drive thru, and was near my hotel which was awesome because I didn't have to wait to go downtown. Okay fine, the beignets are probably the best I've ever had. We stopped by here because it was close to our hotel and they had a drive thru window. The beignets are smaller than at Cafe Beignet but they have a different texture inside. They are fluffier and the outside is more crisp. Getting them in a to go bag means you can shake it up in the powdery sugar goodness and make sure it's covered on all sides. I was worried that some reviews said their beignets did not come out hot and fresh but ours were! I do think the cafe au lait was better at Cafe Beignet though. Love this location! I come here every time I am in New Orleans. Today the service was great. The gentleman working the window was polite, social, and helpful! This location is not in downtown N.O. so there's no line, you drive up, park & walk in. The only positive thing is that the Beignets were hot and fresh. The worker who took our order was not friendly. It was so dirty in here dirty tables, dirty seats, dirty bathrooms. I asked to have some tables clean because there was literally no where to sit. I was treated like this was a special request? The older gentleman came out back gave us a dirty look and cleaned one table very poorly than went outside, to the back of building. I ended up cleaning our own table while the cleaning gentleman slowly cleaned that 1 while he stared me down, with a dirty and disapproving face.
