This is an amazing spot on The Hill to grab a cup of coffee. I'd like to highlight that walking in the door there is almost always a customer who looks up and smiles in this establishment or out on the outdoor patio, oten a wave or a hello, sometimes by people you know and sometimes complete strangers. The staff is great and as I understand the owners are from the same neighborhood as the business. I mean, who doesn't love supporting small/local. They have a great selection of morning treats and Italian cookies, in addition to a excellent coffee menu. The store is bright and has Italian Decor on the walls which makes the wait for your coffee pleasant while you listen to the locals talk about all the things that are going on in their world. My only criticism would be that when you walk back to the counter where the line forms that there is a tight spot when it is busy. But never once has that not been met with anything but kindness from the costumers that are waiting for their cup of Joe. A true sign that happy customers are present, means that they will get my return business. read more

Beautiful European style coffee shop in the heart of The Hill. Their pastry selection is wonderful. My son and I each had a French cream lobster roll. OMG it was amazing, and so big we really should have shared one. They offer a nice selection of traditional coffee drinks but what I really love is their Illy nitro cold brew. I'm addicted to it! I was actually pretty excited to see a new cafe in the heart of the Hill, I've lived in Italy for a while and recently spent some time in Sicily before COVID hit and looked forward to the pastry selection in particular. First of all after chatting with the staff a bit, it turns out the pastry is sourced in Chicago, which is not terrible, but its not especially local either, on the good side they do fill the cannoli as they sell them. The barista needs a refresher course as I saw little difference between a cafe latte and a cappuccino. All in all, its not a terrible place and feel bad to offer a mediocre review to a new place but perhaps things will improve. read more

Oh this is not good, I live a block from this wonderful place and they are going to get all my money. Cafe Dolce is a wonderful addition to the Hill with a great staff, delicious pastries, beautiful decor and a really good cup of coffee. I'm a Breve' fan and it's actually on their menu board. Most places it isn't and I feel like a coffee snob when I order one. We have had the Breve, lattes, mochas and iced tea and all were perfection... next up a nitro. Big huge plus is that they are open on Sundays. You may not think that is a big deal but another coffee shop a block over isn't, so I can have Sunday coffee now for a short walk instead of gettin in my car to go get one. During my visit to Cafe Dolce I was met by an unprofessional and disorganized staff who need to learn how to keep track of orders before they can learn to make coffee. There was no clear line for customers to wait in; we were all scattered around the store unsure of who was taking our orders or when we would be helped. When I finally got the coffee I ordered after the employee tried giving me the wrong drink, I was not impressed. I don't think anything in that store is made there. They use Illy coffee (which is bitter and not for classy coffee drinkers) and their pastries look mass produced. All in all, there are much better options for good customer service, parties, and coffee on The Hill. read more

The best chocolate croissant I've ever had. I have eaten a lot of chocolate croissants. They are my guilty pleasure- and this was the best. The croissant was light, airy, soft, buttery, salty, and the chocolate was a creamy bittersweet. The combination was perfect. 10 out of 10 will tell everyone I know about that croissant. Then there was the anise biscotti. Oh my. I could eat that stuff every day of my life and still not have it often enough. Not too overwhelming or crunchy- exactly what it should be. Perfect. Coffee was slightly bitter- but if drinking with a delicious treat you need that to counteract the sweetness. Will be returning. Often. Maybe today. read more

Older lady came over to help & after doing the same for a couple I corrected her and she said yeah that's it. Huge clue but out of desperation we ordered 2 things. They both we below mid. Would never come here again. People who rate this high need their heads examined or need to get a life outside STL in some real italian neighborhoods.
