I came here for the first time last month and what a cute spot! Located in the heart of The Hill, Shaw's is a lovely spot for a cup of coffee with a pastry! The interior is beautiful because it used to be an old bank so it's got seating in an old vault, beautiful ceiling details, and there's plenty of space for seating. A whole vibe! I was craving a holiday-themed warm coffee on a snowy day, and this spot delivered. Their menu is extensive. I even snapped a pic to share because there were so many options. Came here on a Wednesday with a friend to do some work. This is the cutest coffee shop ever! The workers were super nice and they had a great menu with lots of options, including food. After we placed our order we went and sat down while we waited for them to call our name. I got a chocolate muffin and a café au lait and my friend got a blueberry pancake latte off their seasonal menu. The muffin was served with the fork and on the plate warmed up, and both drinks were served in mugs. We sat right next to the coffee roaster and saw them roasting some coffee firsthand, which was really cool. We both got some great work done and that super cozy environment. I would definitely be coming back because they had lots of seating and great drinks and food. Parking can be tricky anywhere on the hill, but it wasn't too bad to find parking during the middle of the day. read more

The cutest seasonal drinks I've seen at a coffee shop yet! Even for Halloween, they had an adorable little ghost latte that totally stole my heart. Their food was just as good -- the pumpkin cream cheese muffin came out warm, rich, and perfectly spiced. The space itself is super cool, with tons of seating and details to take in. It looks like it used to be an old bank, with big windows that fill the place with natural light. Service was a little slow, so a small line had formed, but our order came out pretty quick. Came here in a snowy day for a break between work and I have not stopped thinking about how delightful this coffee was! The space is fairly large and it was popular around noon so finding a table was challenging. I also wish there were more plugs, but I was able to make it work! I as hoping to order food here and did not see a full food menu so I got a scone. UMM excuse me... why have I not tried this gem sooner?? I visited here for the first time bright and early on a Saturday morning, and I instantly fell in love. I had a busy day ahead of me so I ordered my drinks to-go, but I seriously can't wait to come back and hang out to get some work done or catch up with friends. Such amazing vibes inside, especially with all the plants! I always love when a coffee spot offers fun seasonal beverages. I ended up ordering two drinks from their Valentine's menu, but they also had their St. Patrick's menu available, and I'll definitely be back in the near future to check those out. I tried an Iced Cupid's Kiss Latte, which includes marshmallow creme hearts and strawberry cold foam. My partner had an Iced XOXO Mocha, which includes cherry amaretto and mocha. One of my pet peeves about iced coffee is when it tastes like straight milk. It's safe to say that Shaw's exceeded my expectations with this! Both drinks were incredible and perfectly balanced. My 2025 coffee shop tour continues and this week it found me at Shaw's. I walk in mid morning on a Sunday and the place is buzzing--for good reason. This place is unique and beautiful. I think it is an old bank. There is a huge vault that actually has seating inside of it. The atmosphere is lively. Friends, family gathered to sip coffee and enjoy good company. Others studied or worked. The workers were a pleasure. Each one crafting coffee with a huge smile. Super polite, respectful, and their charm added to the homey feel. My coffee was great, i had a black coffee and a latte. Both were great. No complaints at all. The biggest thing I look for in my iced lattes is A LOT of ice. Boom, they passed with flying colors. A super awesome spot filled with even cooler people. Grab a friend head to Shaw's and grab a seat while you enjoy some solid grounds. read more

I visited Shaw's coffee one day after a big snowstorm. This coffee shop has a friendly atmosphere with lots of seating. They offer coffee flights, signature coffee drinks, and a small selection of baked goods. I ordered their vanilla latte, my typical go to drink when I go to a coffee shop, and overall it was good. I am visiting family in St. Louis and also had a good friend in town. We wanted to try the local coffee shops on The Hill and couldn't miss Shaw's! We went twice in a few days and got different things. The first time I got an Iced Chai Latte added vanilla syrup and my friend got a Halloween latte (the Ghostly Ghoul- which is smores tasting)! Let me say their seasonal halloween/fall drink menus are adorable!! Both drinks were very tasty! (Hence why we came back!) Shaw's is in an old bank building and still has that layout, which is really unique. They also roast their own beans and you can buy whole beans there! They have plenty of seating although it can get busy. The second time I got an Iced Vampires Kiss (which is a mocha with strawberry syrup) and my friend got an Iced Caramel Bourbon Latte. We both decided to grab food this time- I got a bacon cheese scone and she tried a egg sausage Kolache. The drinks were great- if I rated on coffee alone it would have been a 5, however the food was just okay. I think where they could improve is having a toaster oven instead of a microwave. They heated both of the items up and they would have been much better in a toaster situation than microwaved. It made them kind of soft. I would absolutely come back for the drinks! Shaws is an adorable coffee shop nestled in the hill neighborhood. Parking is a bit hectic in that area so you may have to walk a few blocks but it's a cute area. The coffee shop itself is super large with tons of seating. The coffee menu was super fun! I loved all the holiday drinks. They were very unique. The drink matcha was very cute but tasted just okay. I didn't enjoy the pastries we got. They were a bit dry and not warm when we received it. The ambiance is great. I would totally come again to try a new holiday special. read more

There was lots of room for chatting working or studying, it had a nice feel to the place, and the kings cake scone I had was delicious--and huge! The only thing I didn't love was that they left my teabag at the bottom of the cup; since I take my tea with milk and the tea bag had no string, I didn't know this; the bottom inch or two was undrinkable. On my way to study this morning, I stopped into Shaw's Coffee. This window-lined coffeehouse is located in the heart of The Hill and serves a variety of coffee blends, specialty drinks, and bakery items. Today, I was really craving a pistachio latte. After much research, I learned that Shaw's Coffee did indeed have pistachio syrup, along with a variety of other flavors to choose from. I was delighted to see this, as many coffee shops in the area have limited flavor options. The barista who took my order was amiable and warm, greeting me immediately as I came up to the counter. I ordered a regular-sized café latte ($4.50) with pistachio syrup and almond milk. I think this price is relatively reasonable for a 12 ounce coffee in St. Louis. After ordering, I took time to admire the aesthetic of the coffee shop. The interior was brimming with bright foliage and wooden accents. Moreover, there was also an industrial coffee grinder in the middle of the seating area, evoking a sense of craftsmanship and dedication to quality coffee preparation. There was also great deal of seating, which included high top tables, regular tables, and cushioned benches. The walls were lined with windows, which added a natural vibrance to the space. I waited only about five minutes for my coffee and then was on my way. I found that the latte itself was average. The pistachio flavor was forefront but tasted mildly artificial, and the espresso was a bitter, resulting in a latte that lacked balanced. When ordering a latte, I enjoy a creamy and rich consistency, but my drink was a bit watery. This, however, can sometimes be attributed to the type of almond milk used. Despite this, I still sipped on it throughout the day. When reflecting on my experience, the interior of Shaw's Coffee offers a relaxing and tranquil ambience that affords an ideal space for getting work done. Unfortunately, I will likely not order a latte from this coffeehouse again. I do hope to try one of their different coffee blends and a bakery item in the future! read more

I was in the area on a Friday afternoon and wanted a coffee, this looked like the perfect place, and it was. The location is very walkable - the main door is on a busy street but the side door is on a quiet street so you shouldn't have issues finding parking. The place is super cool, an old bank with the safety deposit boxes still there. They've filled the area with plants. They serve at a bar area and have tons of seating. When you step inside, you are greeted with a world map listing the many origins under each region for their roasted beans. There is a small vault you can see as you order. The barrista working Sunday morning has been their a long time in my opinion and does a fantastic job, especially with the number of customers they had waiting. Selfishly I don't want anyone to know or visit Shaw because it's hands down the best coffee shop in St. Louis. Among the many things I enjoy is the ratio of espresso to milk remains the same no matter what size you get. It's the only place in STL, that I know of, that does this. When ordering a larger latte at most other places, you're only paying for added milk, with the amount of espresso never changing between sizes. Something I never really understood other than they can charge you more for less. My only critique is the awkward placement of the lovely plant life, making it difficult to navigate the line. What a gem in the cozy Hill neighborhood in St Louis. This establishment oozes ambiance along with the smell of fresh roasted coffee produced right on location. This converted bank office retains that high ceiling place of importance. You can even sip their delicious roasts in the old bank vault. And the coffee - magnificent! Go for the French press so you can sample the menu. Colombian, Costa Rican, Sulawesi- all so tasty. And not to be overlooked are the welcoming and capable staff.
