I went during a random post snow day for a coffee fix, and ended up being taught about the wonders of coffee from a knowledgeable barista. St. Louis has made solid spots, but if I'm going to enjoy something nuanced, well-sourced, and delicious, I'm coming to Blueprint Coffee on Watson. I love the whole vibe of this place - natural light spilling through the many windows of this former car garage, good music playing, plants everywhere, warm wood, yellow furniture, and non-pretentious, friendly baristas - and the single cup coffee is a fave. Today's cup was Turaco, rich, dark, with some smoke and tart berry. When it's really nice outside, they roll the garage doors up, and the breeze paired with everything else is glorious. There's long communal table seating inside and a back patio with multi-top tables under shade, so whatever dynamic you're looking for with your coffee, Blueprint offers it. Stopped by for coffee with a friend we were kind of unsure about the place but after wards we really enjoyed the coffee and scones. Very small place we had to park across the street barely any parking. Inside is very small also not a lot of seating outside. Also they are very pricey. Let me start this by saying that I wasn't here last weekend or anything. It's been a while. I wrote this review when I came home to save for when I was holed up in my home recuperating from having my 2nd knee replaced. All that being said, this is based on my first visit. I have been here at least 4 times since. I mean, I gave it a 5 star review didn't I? Anyway, this is their location in the Lindenwood Park Neighborhood. It's a cozy old service station that creates the most tasty drinks. I usually drink a dirty chai. As a matter of fact when I drink one from here I go home and clean my whole house. And, I don't even taste the bitterness of the espresso. Everyone there is super nice. I usually tell them what my go to was at a different place I tried and they give me something from their creative minds. I ALWAYS end up liking it. Speaking of, I have tried to "make" cold brew with chocolate milk but it sure doesn't taste anything like theirs. The food was good. We just got a couple of bars that had a lot of grains and seeds. (Yes, I didn't write down the name of them.) Those bars kept my tummy full for a long time and was really good. It's not the biggest space but there is space to sit outside, again, not a lot, but that is typical honestly. Blueprint has the best latte in St. Louis (out of all the places I've tried! My favorite is the ice caramel latte with whole milk (not much of a non-dairy milk gal). The Watson location also has a little outside area. Not as many seating spots inside, but still a good size. Parking lot can only hold 3 cars but street parking is usually super easy to find. The staff is always knowledgeable and kind. I always look forward to stopping in! There's usually always a line but it goes quick. Stopped in on a friend's suggestion, had some darn good coffee. The interior has a nice minimalist vibe, probably great to study or work for a bit but we got ours to go and enjoyed it immensely. No fuss, just good coffee. We didn't get any food or baked goods but the selection looked pretty solid, especially the biscuit sandwiches. Maybe next time. So it's a coffee place that clearly takes coffee seriously, and I like that a lot. Best local latte I've had in awhile! We finally visited Blueprint this past weekend after a long time planning to go, we don't often drive down that part of Watson but also say it when we pass and are reminded its so close to us. The line out the door on a Saturday morning immediately told us we chose correctly. First thing that stood out inside was the atmosphere, everyone working including other customers were in a good mood. I liked the available variety of different roasts and seasonally crafted drink options - tea also. Service was quick, employees helped make choices based on our preferences. Blueprint is my favorite coffee shop. From their great selection of baked goods to their incredible coffee selection they have been our go to for our coffee needs and friend dates. I always go for the biscuit with butter + jam or the egg biscuit sandwich both are 10/10! The egg sandwich has a tomato jam that is too die for and they have truly perfected the egg patty. For coffee, my partner loves their cold brew and I tend to go for their lattes usually with oat milk and salted caramel syrup but you can never go wrong with their seasonal drinks. Ambiance-- they are always playing incredible music, they have seating areas in the front and back of the cafe, tons of plants to brighten even the grayest of days. They host markets in the front lot and even have a basketball hoop if you are feeling up to shooting some shots. Service-- we love everyone that works here! Blueprint has the most amazing coffee. Chances are, if your favorite local coffee shop doesn't roast their own coffee beans, they probably get them from Blueprint. They have perfect the roasting process. They have a great food menu, too! I got the sausage & pepper egg biscuit and it was gooood. This is also one of the more family friendly coffee shops I've been to. The baristas are so sweet to kids, they even have stickers for them, and they have these really low tables that are perfect for kids. Also, if you buy a bag of coffee beans, you get a free drink! It's sweet. The one con is it's not a great place to sit and work. There isn't a lot of seating, and the only outlets are by the bench with low tables. read more

I came in on a Monday around noon for a break from work. Usually the service here is pretty good but this time around they seemed occupied with training some staff or something like that. I had to wait a couple of minutes to place my order even though there wasn't a line. I just made myself comfortable. When it was time to order, JM took my order, and she was prompt about it, no chit chat just business. I had the espresso tonic, and it's my favorite drink from them. They make their own tonic, and it's always so refreshing to me. To me, it tastes a little spicy from the acidity of the espresso and bitterness from the tonic. It's not hot spicy, but kinda like how black pepper makes food spicy sometimes, but I like it! The service here is usually more friendly. This hot spot is located in a revamped in an old garage. Garage doors are still there and often open for a super airy feel. Lots of air and sunshine! There is seating in the shop or a patio on the back, so it's up to you! They offer several espresso options and drinks (one of each please), loose leaf tea, Italian sodas, hot chocolate, special seasonal drinks, and cold brew on draft. The cold brew is so great that customers buy it by the growler (see pictures). I got an iced americano with a splash of half and half. The coffee at Blueprint is always top notch. I like my coffee as pure as possible, so I can only comment on the black coffee and not lattes or other specialty drinks. While Blueprint offers many different types of beans, blends and roasts, you can always count on it having a big, bold flavor. It's a strong brew with loads of flavor. And to boot, the coffee is always well balanced and very approachable if you're someone who isn't used to craft coffee. I love to hit Blueprint anytime I'm in South City to grab a bag of beans to brew throughout the coming week. Two things to note about buying their beans. First, talk to the barista about how you brew your coffee at home and have them grind the coffee for you. I always feel so much better knowing that I have the correct coarseness of grind for my chemex at home. I love the vibe of Blueprint! It's in an old automotive repair shop, and still maintains some of that vibe with exposed ductwork and open concept. The coffee was amazing, and I like that they're experimenting with things like carbonated coffee and nitro cold brew. Note this is focused solely on the coffee, not the service or building/atmosphere as those were great. I was really hoping to like this place and consider it as a replacement for Starbucks for my cold and nitro brews but unfortunately, it's just too "unique" for me. By that I mean their coffee I tried (referenced above) does not taste like regular coffee by any means, it's more floral tasting and it's just not my cup of tea. I was definitely super disappointed, after waiting in line to get this odd tasting cold brew, so I can say without any uncertainty that I'm not coming back. So unless you're into unique coffee profiles, this is not the place for you. If I had to compare this to anything, think of it as a if you like Bud Light but then you are coerced into trying an IPA. This place is unique, and had a fresh take on a coffee shop. I went with a group who are all coffee drinkers, and although I am not a coffee drinker I felt they had a lot of great options for other beverages to try that were creative. I ordered a chai soda, which I have never heard of before and I was pleasantly surprised! It was a chai latte with some sort of carbonation, not sure I would order it again but I really enjoyed having the option to try something new. Their food menu was pretty extensive for a coffee shop which was also nice. I had been traveling all day and hadn't eaten since 7am that morning so when I visited around 4pm I was starving. I ended up ordering the yogurt parfait, which I expected to be high quality based on the price but I was pretty disappointed. It ended up being a small portion size of yogurt, with granola and a little fruit on the side. The description on the menu made it seem like it included more in it, but it was definitely something I could have gotten at a grocery store for cheaper and a larger portion. Lots of seating available, and they had a great patio with seating in the back too. Service was friendly, although a little slow. I would definitely go back, but I would order something different next time. I would have given 5 stars but I felt the price was expensive for what you get. read more
