Overall really good takeout. We always get delivery, never eat-in, and the delivery is always very fast. Pizza is terrific - particularly the one with basil and romano cheese on top. A bit pricey but Regina-quality so it's worth it. Huge menu. The burgers, steak subs, and salads are great. I would not recommend the steak tips though. They are really tough and small and therefore generally overcooked. It's almost like they know this because they offer different sauces to go on top. If they were good they wouldn't need sauce. Really good chicken parm as well as bruscetta. Hours are pretty good. read more

Absolutely disgusting...... I grew up in Reading (Italian family) and was practically raised on Capri Pizza (at least once every 2 weeks). While nothing beats Regina in the N. End, or Santarpios, Capri was a pretty good substitute. I lived away for 15 years. Moved back about 10 years ago. Had Capri about 12-15 times since I moved back. It's gotten worse every time..... I think the box it comes in probably tastes better than the crust. After the pie as cooled for about 1- minutes, the cheese tastes like something you might use to lay floor tile. The are obviously cutting corners...... And would you like to know how dirty the place was last time I was there (last week)??? Won't spoil you appetite with the gory details. Suffice to say it looked like no one had cleaned the glass doors in about 2 weeks. The chairs in the waiting area were so disgusting, I stood for the 10 minutes to wait for my "pizza". Sorry for the bad review but just wanted to let people know about takeout especially since it was our first time and we were looking for a good local place for takeout. BBQ chicken wrap has no BBQ sauce (unless you count hot pink dressing with no flavor BBQ sauce) and was extremely soggy (I only ate half). My husband was excited for buffalo fingers for the Pats game which were also disgusting and had no celery sticks even when I asked picking up the food if they were in there (how do you mess up Buffalo fingers?!?). The mozzarella sticks were good, and after reading other reviews maybe I should have got pizza? Also overpriced too. I took some pictures to show, but can't figure out how to post them. We order out just about every weekend with our neighbors and friends. We generally like Capri. The odd thing is sometimes we call and they deliver to us and other other times they rudely tell us they won't deliver to our (nearby) address. You just delivered to us LAST week and just this evening you told us you Don't DELIVER to our area - less than 2 miles away. We just placed a $105 order elsewhere for the 8 of us and none of the 3 other couples with us will be calling Capri again. Found a better place with more pleasant people. read more

The pizza is always good. A lot of the other dishes used to be good. We tried the veal parm and the chicken parm. Pretty expensive but we thought it would be great. The sauce was horrible. Not sure what happened here, but the food use to be much better. My husband and I came here for a quick lunch today and were told there were no servers and we would order up front... no problem, but the bar was closed also? We waited over 20 minutes before I even got my soup which was greasy and overly salted. I ordered the chipotle chicken panini which was hard as a rock, filled with rubbery cheese and wilted lettuce along with a huge piece of chicken breast which was virtually unseasoned. I did not see or taste any chipotle and barely ate my sandwich. We use to order here frequently and never had any issues, so I am wondering if they are going through some management/cook changes? I have lived in Reading almost 22 years now and my family and I always liked Capri. We enjoy the pizza and find it the best around. However, post renovation I have found the service subpar while prices continue to rise. Take out is supposed to be ready when you get there in the time they tell you it's ready but have found you have to wait much longer at times even when the restaurant is not busy. Recently I ordered a sub but said I didn't want sauce on it. After waiting 27 minutes for the sub that I called in the young women at the counter asked me two more times if I wanted sauce...hello anyone home! Horrible. It took 10 minutes on hold just to order the pizza. Then when I went there, they gave the thin crust pizza to someone else. They asked me if I wanted to wait but I said no, so I took the regular pizza. The pizza was horrible it was oily, had barely any cheese, and the tomato sauce tasted like a Russian MRE. Best pizza in Reading, hands down. I have tried EVERY pizza place in this town, and Capri is by far the best. It is NY style pizza, with a thin, softer crust, with a thicker, crispy on the outside edge. They add the perfect amount of cheese and oil on top, and the sauce is very flavorful. The prices are reasonable for a large pie, and when the food is delivered, it's still hot! The only reason I didn't give them a 5 is because I have also gotten steak tips here, and they were just OK. The BBQ sauce that came on them was good, but there was nothing spectacular about them. Pizza is amazing here, though. If you like NY style pizza, this is the place to go! read more

Would say this is my favorite pizza place in the area. Pizza is very thin crust NY style. Haven't had the chance to try other dishes. I always get the pizza. They have a half decent bar. The interior is a little worn and you have to expect that at least 2 tables will be a soccer team or baseball teams worth of rowdy kids. So let's call it kid friendly. Apolgies having a back up coming out of oven now. 8pm, still no pizza's call back, hold another 5 minutes ummm sorry delays coming out of oven now can i send it for free, seriously, 2 hours , no calls and clearly just a line- reminded us why we stopped going there. I ordered takeout and was disappointed with the errors in price. I told them over the phone that I had a 2 dollar off coupon for a large pizza. It was never taken off of the total. In addition to the pizza, I ordered boneless buffalo wings and the menu says they come with celery and blue cheese. There was no celery included. I asked for ranch instead of blue cheese. They said no problem, but I got both and I got charged for the ranch. One of these things wouldn't have been a big deal on its own but all three really put a damper on the meal and made me feel like I wouldn't order from there again. read more

The most inconsistent pizza on the planet! Just when you think they are great, you go in the next week and get a train wreck of a pizza. What I have noticed is that they either don't train the staff, or don't understand that a two cheese blend has to be mixed together, and not just throw whatever cheese is on top. We ordered two extra cheese pizzas. They pooled all the sauce into the center and made them a sloppy inedible mess with a huge dry crust section. One pizza was ghost white because it was all mozzarella and tasted horrible, the other pizza was a grease pool of cheddar. To top it off, they have this idiotic, stubborn method of using a GREEN PEPPER of all things to mark extra cheese pizzas so they can tell them apart from regular cheese in the oven. Way to use the most powerfully flavored topping known to man! Ever consider that one friggin' black olive will do the trick without ruining the flavor of the entire pizza?! Everyone in my family hates green peepers, so I get to hear about it. I wouldn't normally be so ripped, but when we actually specifically requested they not use a pepper, they said they couldn't do that. Wow! Mix the damn cheese properly, spread the sauce to the edges and lighter in the middle, and don't use a damn green pepper to ruin the flavor, and you'd have one of the best pizzas around. And maybe sharpen the damn cutter after 20 years so the slices are actually cut. We've given up on this place after years of "what kind of pizza will it be tonight?" When a large extra cheese and an order of wings comes to almost $30, it better be damn good. If you don't start paying attention to consistency and quality, the outrageous prices and many other great option in Reading will catch up with you. I'd love to go more often, but the inconsistency has made it go from our weekly go-to shop, to maybe once every 6 weeks for a change and "cross your fingers" gamble. read more

I moved to Reading about a year and a half ago, coming from Medford/Somerville, where I lived for about 8 years. Back then, my favorite spots were Pini's in Somerville, Santarpio's in East Boston, and Reginas in Boston (and then Medford, at Station's landing). Obviously, the last two places are regularly regarded as the two best pizza joints in the Boston area. I actually find Capri pizza to almost be a hybrid of the three above mentioned pizzas, so it definitely works for me. I only have two issues with their pizza. A) it's too damn expensive. I am not sure how they get away with it. B) It's quite salty....I don't really notice it when I am eating it, but I always find myself chugging water at the end of the night, before I go to bed. Maybe that is why it tastes so good. I don't know. Some other locals were telling me they all switched allegiances to Gregory's Deli, for pizza that is virtually the same, but a couple of dollars cheaper per pie. I've given it a shot, and it has been hit or miss. Sometimes the dough is not always cooked through as well as I like (and I ALWAYS get my pies well done, wherever I go), and the toppings leave some to be desired as well. Not to say it is terrible, I've gotten a few good pizzas there too. I would have to give Johhn's Roast Beef in Stoneham a close 2nd to Capri...their pizza is phenomenal, but it is a different breed altogether. More of a greek style pizza, with a flaky crust. But Johnn's does everything right, from subs to calzones. If you havent checked it out, I highly recommend it! Especially the Chicken Bomb!!! Columbo's was my first pizza spot, as it is closest to my house. It's pretty solid, but can also be hit or miss sometimes. Just my $.02! read more

well i recently moved to reading from the next town over and decided to give this place a try since they just did their bar over with 8 new big screens . So i checked out there menu on line and noticed their boneless buffalo "wings" and said to my self lets try those bad boys and take them home and watch game 4 of the Bruins playoffs.so i get home and they were the worst boneless buffalo "wings " i think i ever had except for Tanner Tavern in Woburn.BUT wait they were not boneless buffalo 'WINGS"as advertised on there menu they were nothing but chicken "TENDERS"rolled in buffalo sauce.HORRIBLE thats my review !Oh and wait did i mention that they just added 8 big screens and it was 7 pm half hour before they drop the puck and the bar had 2 people there.Thankfully my wife and i decided not to go eat there so i didn"t waste that much of my money.So i close by apoligizing to CHILE"s i should have gone with my regular place with great food. read more
