While in the neighborhood for an appointment on one afternoon with utter hunger pangs I opt for something quick, simple in hopes for a very moderate price. A cold cut sandwich is simple without going wrong as one would hope, as one would think... I ordered one turkey, cheese with lettuce, tomato, and mayo on white bread. The result was no cheese and very minimal mayo for an utter eye-popping overprice of $5.99!! Having a minimal breakfast early in the morning to gone through the whole morning into the afternoon I quickly engulf the whole measly sandwich. Seating is available covered with filthy tables as their clientele do not bus themselves when completing one's meal. Business cards are available for grabs but no takeout menu. Server is curt, impersonal and stolid. As per previous Yelpers noted, basic utensils and napkins are not provided but must be requested to become available and this is a food service business... ergo, the food service industry sorely tanked!!

I got takeout here: double burger and fries. It was a simple no-frills burger. Decent portions. Not too interesting, but not bad for the price. Staff wore masks. Social distancing wasn't an issue since it wasn't busy (on a Saturday afternoon).

Cafe Bora Bora has been in the hood for awhile now. Located next door to Emerald and NetCost. As you walk into the Cafe, you notice the impressionable wall art that is on both sides of the wall. Very calming and nice to look at while stopping by and grabbing some early more breakfast or a late lunch. They have a wide selection of food. Veggie tuna here is hella good. Especially in the morning. Always fresh and a strong and hearty breakfast will set you back by $8-10. Thats a bargain right there. Came the other day and checked out the salad bar and hot food items. I basically filled the plastic container to the brim and it was $11. Considering I was a hungry hippo, it was pretty cheap. The food was great and salads were fresh.

Pretty good roast beef sandwich on rye with some mustard.

The baker's dozen (13 bagels) is worth it because you can choose between regular and specialty bagels and it still comes out to $24. And if you get the dozen on a Wednesday, you can actually get 16 bagels! The bagels are big, and airy. The combinations and variety of options go on and on. Excited to be try a new one every time. They are pretty precise with the weight of spread you order, as well. We ordered the egg salad, tuna salad, and scallion cream cheese spread. The egg salad and tuna salad were mild in flavor, not heavy, tasted healthy. I've only come on weekends, so there is always a line out the door, but there are many staff members, so the line moves. If you are ordering a lot of bagels, be prepared for back-up options because although they are constantly making the bagels on the premise, popular options do run out and you may have to wait 15min for a new batch.

They've done such an outstanding job across the board (customer service, price, food, etc.) that I am constantly thinking about going back. Located on the constantly busy (#2) 30th Ave, one wouldn't notice this place as being any different from any other bagel shop. There's hardly any seating but a steady stream of customers all throughout the day. The NSFW signage (#3) keeps the place fresh and interesting, if not extremely memorable. The first thing that is offered (and often complimentary) is their fried rice balls, dubbed "Ben's Balls" that are mixed with seasoned rice, kimchi, topped with a gochujang mayo that would wake up any sleepyhead. Each bite had a nice crunch, but the lingering effect of the kimchi makes it addicting. It is the ultimate complementary snack, a desired, potluck item, and frankly genius. This is not something I would ever consider getting out a bagel shop, but having had them I would gladly buy them by the dozens. Most folks are here for the Seoul Meets Bagel (SMB) and rightfully so: it's layered with chopped bulgogi meat, cheese, egg, kimchi, topped with gochujang mayo and is packed with flavor. While the dank ass pork sandwich is a crude name, but it's not hard to see why it's one of their best sellers. Their regular bagels are also excellent. Folks who are expecting a large variety of cream cheese may find it disappointing that there's only a handful in the display, but they do have lox, bacon scallion, tofu cream cheese, and some flavored cream cheese. For what it's worth, my toasted everything bagel with lox was fabulous. It was pillowy soft, nicely toasted, and extremely filling. Offering Korean savory bagels wouldn't be complete without actual Korean fare, which is also a part of their larger than expected menu. It includes items such as Korean fried chicken, kimbap, pajeon (various), bibimbap, kalbi, ramyum, and mandoo. This is in addition to the burgers, breakfast platters and sandwiches, and a number of pastries. The staff is mostly Spanish and English speaking, in addition to the owner Ben who brings Korean to the table. Prices are very reasonable for Astoria and I'm hoping they continue to stay that way. This spot is the ultimate neighborhood spot and I'm insanely jealous of all the residents in the area that get to enjoy this on the regular. ___________ (#1) Why mess with something that doesn't need changing? Oh, because palate + innovation. (#2) And incredibly gentrified. (#3) One sign reads: "My happy place is when I tell people to .... FU, KMA, MF, STFU, SOB, SMD." Oh how New York.

Beware of Dishonest Business Practices…read more This place has a huge sign advertising FREE coffee with any egg order, so I came in this morning expecting exactly that. I ordered an egg and cheese bagel with salt, pepper, and ketchup, along with a coffee--since, according to their own sign, it was supposed to be free. The man at the register (who I assume was the owner) charged me extra for the coffee anyway. When I politely pointed out that the coffee should be free, he acted clueless and said, "Oh, I didn't know you wanted the special." Seriously? Why would anyone knowingly choose to pay extra for something clearly advertised as free? He then said, "Okay, I'll give it to you," but still charged me the full amount. When I asked again if the discount had actually been applied, he flat-out claimed that it had. I showed him right there that it hadn't, and instead of fixing it, he shrugged it off and said there was nothing he could do--basically trying to keep the extra money. At that point, I walked out. It's not about the price of a coffee--it's about honesty. If you advertise something, honor it. This felt deceptive, shady, and completely unprofessional. Disgusting business practices. I won't be back. Stay away
