We were camping at the state park and liked the cafe so much we came twice for breakfast tacos and cake! They also had great decaf coffee which is hard to find. Friendly service and WONDERFUL atmosphere and decor. We loved the biscoff cake!

Awesome cafe in old downtown Denison. The decorations were beautiful and peaceful. Stopped in for breakfast after hiking around Waterloo lake and taking the cave trail. I had the avocado toast. The avocado was perfect. It was great but If I ordered it again I would try to get it with an egg to add protein. My son had a turkey sandwich that he wolfed down. As we we re leaving they were taking the chocolate chip walnut cookies off of the baking pan. I couldn't resist the ooey gooey cookie. They were pricey at $12 for 2 cookies but they are giant sized. Not sure I would have purchased if I knew the price first. Had an iced latte and it was super tasty. Service was great, friendly and unobtrusive.

On the outside, this is the perfect addition to Denison's ever-growing Main Street. And on the inside, this beautiful, quaint cafe has a lot of potential. It reminds me of a spot on McKinney's eclectic town square. However, I just don't think Denison is ready for the inflated prices on Cafe Blackbird's menu. And maybe I'm wrong... as the line was almost out the door when we arrived. My half sandwich/cup of soup and small half slice of orange was not worth the $9.50. The bread was a nice artisan bread (which I'd return to buy a loaf of for morning toast), but the chicken salad and tomato basil soup were just okay. I didn't get to eat the orange as my plate was whisked away while I was pretty much finishing up. I felt rushed and not very welcome the entire time. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, though; this could be because they've been busy with their grand opening and staff training. Also, the cookie I ordered was forgotten when my food was delivered to the table, and when I went to inquire about it, I was told they were baking more and that it would be about 12 minutes until they were ready. At $3.75 a piece, you know I was waiting for this cookie. Fast forward about 30 minutes and (feeling like a complete B) I had to ask again. Not sure when/if I'll return. Employees (and most patrons) weren't wearing masks and six-feet distances were not being enforced. The visit as a whole just didn't feel comfortable. I wish them well, though. Denison needs growth, especially on Main, and businesses such as this will definitely help.

Do they have gluten free bread or anything else gluten free?

They try to keep gluten free bread on hand, and the tomato basil soup is gluten free. Only dessert that's normally available that's GF is creme brûlée. You can call and request GF cookies

It was such a treat stumbling onto this piece of history just off Main Street. I was hanging with my little 8th-generation Texans, seeking out areas not yet conquered by "New"! They still have " curb service" here. Yes car hops on a 100-degree summer day! Priceless. Quite a few people are taking advantage of that service too. We chose to go inside and we were greeted by a huge smile and a quick ordering process The inside dining area is small but packed with interesting people from the area The kinda place they call your name when your order is ready, because you're part of the fabric of Dennison's community. We sampled the chocolate and vanilla shakes; both were worth the drive from Dallas. Then my perennial fave, the real fries! Hand-cut on site and fried to perfection. I mean, anyone who appreciates them knows, it's hard to achieve that perfect golden, crunchy exterior and soft, creamy middle. They do! This place is priceless. A few months ago, I had a burger at a similar place in another north Texas Town that's now closed. I plan on getting back here several times, hoping they thrive .

The whole setup seems very "original" (as in older and worn in). I had the cheeseburger, fries, and a Diet Dr. Pepper (the only diet option available, because Texas!). I enjoyed the food. The fries were thick cut but crispy and came in a huge portion; the cheeseburger wasn't too greasy and had a good amount of toppings. Getting your order was a bit odd, as everything came out of order and we had to check on some missing items, but we ultimately got everything. There are no bathrooms at this establishment.
