We were camping at the state park and liked the cafe so much we came twice for breakfast tacos and cake! They also had great decaf coffee which is hard to find. Friendly service and WONDERFUL atmosphere and decor. We loved the biscoff cake!

Vanilla iced latte

Awesome cafe in old downtown Denison. The decorations were beautiful and peaceful. Stopped in for breakfast after hiking around Waterloo lake and taking the cave trail. I had the avocado toast. The avocado was perfect. It was great but If I ordered it again I would try to get it with an egg to add protein. My son had a turkey sandwich that he wolfed down. As we we re leaving they were taking the chocolate chip walnut cookies off of the baking pan. I couldn't resist the ooey gooey cookie. They were pricey at $12 for 2 cookies but they are giant sized. Not sure I would have purchased if I knew the price first. Had an iced latte and it was super tasty. Service was great, friendly and unobtrusive.

On the outside, this is the perfect addition to Denison's ever-growing Main Street. And on the inside, this beautiful, quaint cafe has a lot of potential. It reminds me of a spot on McKinney's eclectic town square. However, I just don't think Denison is ready for the inflated prices on Cafe Blackbird's menu. And maybe I'm wrong... as the line was almost out the door when we arrived. My half sandwich/cup of soup and small half slice of orange was not worth the $9.50. The bread was a nice artisan bread (which I'd return to buy a loaf of for morning toast), but the chicken salad and tomato basil soup were just okay. I didn't get to eat the orange as my plate was whisked away while I was pretty much finishing up. I felt rushed and not very welcome the entire time. I'll give them the benefit of the doubt, though; this could be because they've been busy with their grand opening and staff training. Also, the cookie I ordered was forgotten when my food was delivered to the table, and when I went to inquire about it, I was told they were baking more and that it would be about 12 minutes until they were ready. At $3.75 a piece, you know I was waiting for this cookie. Fast forward about 30 minutes and (feeling like a complete B) I had to ask again. Not sure when/if I'll return. Employees (and most patrons) weren't wearing masks and six-feet distances were not being enforced. The visit as a whole just didn't feel comfortable. I wish them well, though. Denison needs growth, especially on Main, and businesses such as this will definitely help.

Blackbird is the kind of spot that makes me happy to call this town my home. There is clearly so much love and care put into to every aspect from the interior design and seating to the food and coffee. I've been into the cafe a handful of times since moving back and I'm always greeted like I'm their favorite customer. The last time I was in I had the iced caramel latte and the breakfast sandwich. Both were excellent. The avocado on the sandwich was so fresh and flavorful and the bacon was cooked to perfection. Almost no one gets bacon right, it's either so chewy the entire piece falls off in one bite, or it's so over cooked it's hard enough to chip a tooth on. Getting to take my breakfast on their quaint little patio always makes me feel like I'm in some boutique town in Colorado or Utah, not little ol'Denison Texas. I highly recommend stopping in next chance you get!

Do they have gluten free bread or anything else gluten free?

They try to keep gluten free bread on hand, and the tomato basil soup is gluten free. Only dessert that's normally available that's GF is creme brûlée. You can call and request GF cookies

Got it, here's the revised version without a hyphen:…read more --- I recently tried Craft Pies and ordered their supreme pizza. It was absolutely delicious! The ingredients tasted fresh and the flavors were perfectly balanced. On top of that, the customer service was amazing. The staff was friendly and made the whole experience even better. The atmosphere had a really nice vibe and it felt like a great place to relax and enjoy your meal. I will definitely be coming back!

I did a gluten free crust, and a build my own! 10.5 inches with tons of toppings for 15.99 plus tax! They have larger ones and a variety of crusts, cheeses and toppings! Very simple to order! I got basil pesto as my sauce, fresh mozzarella ( you can get shredded but I got the melty balls), chicken, tomatoes, arugula, Kalamata olives, spinach, garlic, and some kind of cool funky pepper I can't remember the name of. Staff was friendly, I waited for the text to pop up on my phone, and it was hot and fresh! I was offered Parmesan, crushed pepper and their home made ranch. I took all of that... brought it home to my husband (hour 15 min drive). They had run out of wings that day. Waiting on a truck. So I ordered wings from our hometown and got those on the way home. We watched football and had wings and pizza. He was so impressed with the pizza! I cook a LOT... a lot of healthy amazing dishes. I make my own pizza but he said this was the next best thing. Highly recommend!

Menu was vast- featuring…read morelettuce wraps, protein bowls, entrees, vegan options, teas, coffees, smoothies, frozen meat you can buy and take home, a salad cooler, juice cooler, and so much more! You order at the front and they bring it out. I had a roasted chicken quinoa bowl, with cherry tomatoes, cucumber, arugula, feta, and their signature lemon basil dressing! I ordered a side of avocado lime dressing, and had a green tea with lavender (unsweetened), and added stevia. The only thing is that the staff kinda doesn't say much. The girl who rang me up didn't know what the dressing was on the bowl, seemed to not know the menu well, and was friendly enough, but just needed more training or something. I'm a foodie so- I studied the menu beforehand. I used to own a 4 star in Louisiana. I knew every aspect of menu. I overtipped her up front. She brought the food but didn't check on me. I had to ask for things. I really didn't care because I love to eat in peace. But they weren't busy enough to be so.... I don't know... a little snooty? They spoke a lot to each other. The food was made where you could see it. All sustainable, farm to table, organic, etc... when I left, I asked for a to go container. Another girl brought it while the main girl was sweeping all around me (kind of a no no). The other girl was cute and more friendly. Seemed comfortable. I even was going to buy a tin of their tea but it wasn't marked. I asked the main girl how much it was. She said she would check, kept sweeping and doing her side work, and didn't come tell me the price until I was leaving (a sale lost). It's my 3rd time there and the staff is always kinda like that... almost as of they expect you to know the menu yourself. But when I left, one of the chefs opened the door and walked out with me. He was super nice. I guess it's hit and miss with the service but they do deliver it in a timely manner and it's super fresh. I just never let any of my servers hit the floor or greet a guest unless they could describe each dish with such detail that your mouth watered. I upsold. I checked on people and so did my staff. We asked questions and got to know our guests. But all in all this place I HIGHLY. recommend!!!!!!

A first rate coffee shop that puts the indie coffee shops of Austin to shame…read more And I should know - living in Austin and spending a lot of time in coffee shops. If Lettuce Indulge was in my hometown, it would be my number one hangout coffee shop. They specialize in very high quality straight up coffee, their own self-invented elaborate coffee drinks - and healthy main dishes. I did a straight up espresso and a chicken and good-for-you-stuff bowl. The straight up espresso was so good - I went for a second about twenty minutes later. I don't have a coffee taster's vocabulary - But this was a non-burnt, non-heavy, complicated, intriguing brew. It was not like any coffee I had had in a long time. * * * The chicken bowl beat the stupid stuff Starbucks sells you for lunch easily. My home coffee shops vary in the quality of their kitchens. There are some sandwiches and salads to die for. There is also a lot of mediocre stuff that makes Starbucks lunch look good. If my chicken bowl had been rated on an Austin scale from 1 to 10, It would have been a solid 8. I would be happy to eat that over and over and over again. * * * The room is fine. The folks who work there are super super friendly and super super nice. * * * The establishment closes on Sundays ... So I am going to guess that one of the owners or maybe a huge percentage of the staff are dedicated Christians. There is a lot of idealism in the craftsmanship that goes into the coffee. Same for the idealism that goes into the food. Plus the room has a very healthy vibe. There is a lot of virtue in this establishment. Virtue is a good thing.
