You can't spend two weeks in Miami and leave without eating a Cuban sandwich. It would feel like…read morevisiting Philadelphia without trying a cheesesteak or New Orleans without ordering gumbo. Fortunately, a coworker pointed me toward Latin American Grill in Miami Lakes, just a few minutes from our hotel. It turned out to be exactly the sendoff I was hoping for. We started with the Sopa de Pollo, a bowl that made it immediately clear this kitchen isn't interested in shortcuts. Large chunks of chicken, tender vegetables, and noodles floated in a broth with remarkable depth. It wasn't simply chicken soup, it was the kind of soup that makes you wonder why every other version tastes so timid. A squeeze of fresh lime added just enough brightness to wake up every spoonful without distracting from the richness of the broth. Then came the reason for the visit. The Medianoche. I've always preferred the sweeter cousin of the traditional Cuban sandwich, and Latin American Grill makes a terrific one. Thick slices of ham and juicy mojo pork were layered with Swiss cheese, mustard, and pickles before being pressed between soft, sweet bread until the outside turned beautifully crisp. Every ingredient had a purpose. The pork brought richness, the ham added salt, the mustard and pickles cut through the fat with welcome acidity, and the sweet bread tied everything together. It's one of those sandwiches that reminds you how satisfying simplicity can be when every component is done well. Sometimes the best restaurant recommendations don't come from guidebooks or social media. They come from someone who simply says, "You should eat here." In this case, they were absolutely right. A great Cuban sandwich doesn't need reinvention. It just needs great ingredients, careful execution, and a hot press. Latin American Grill delivers all three.

This was my first time in 15 years coming back to try Latin American Grill in Pembroke Pines…read more When my family used to live in Pembroke Pines, I remember stopping by to grab colada and sandwiches for quick lunch every weekend with my friends before going out. It was one of more affordable lunches for us back then. Not much has changed in all the years. The food quality is still decent, the prices are still affordable, and the customer service is still friendly. It was a nice experience to stop by for a simple breakfast and colada. It helped me reminisce about my life from years ago, how much has changed for the better now, but still missing how some things were back then. Maybe it wasn't a simple dining experience for me today, maybe motivation for me to check in on some people from way back then to see if they are still doing well. Thanks Latin American Grill for still being at the same location and reminding me to reach out to people I haven't spoken to in years. They offer plenty of free parking in this plaza. I would recommend this place to others and maybe be back next time I am in Pembroke Pines area.

On my last…read morevisit, I noticed it was very similar but the way it was served looked different and had a variety of items I've never seen anywhere else in a bandeja paisa. The meat was juicy and delicious. The beans were like something my mom would make. They had both sausage and morcilla (blood sausage), maduro con queso (yes, plantain with cheese inside), an arepa that was not the standard flavorless white corn arepa you get everywhere else, it was like cheesy and had flavor to it. But my favorite part was they actually served it with avocado. Which believe it or not most places don't bother to serve it with (WTH right?!). I even had a tostones in there as well. So yeah....meat, two sausages, rice and beans, fried egg, fried pork skin, arepa, avocado, maduro and tostones. Like seriously what more could you ask for? OH! And I CANNOT FORGET to mention their LEMONADE. Their lemonade is BOMB, like amazing. Like if it's not the best lemonade you've ever had. I don't think you have your taste buds right. It's actually a LIMEADE, in a slushi form, and you can see the little chips of lime in it. It's sooooooooo good. And the glass is HUGE. Bandeja paisa + lemonade. I promise you will thank me later!

This place has been it for a minute. It's so consistently good! I normally go for breakfast, so my order is quite simple; eggs, arepas, some protein, and a good cafe con leche. To go, I'll grab a couple pan de bonos or empanadas. It's normally served immediately and I'm out of there in less than 30 mins. The decor of the place is quite appealing. The owner has photos and art displayed on the walls, showing some of Colombia's most beautiful areas. I recommend this spot for anyone looking for good Colombian food. There is also plenty of seating, so come with a group!
