We had a table booked for a party of 3 on Saturday Sep/13.We were at the place just few minutes after 08:00 PM. The place was empty at that time, the waitress gave us a small table, table for 2, and the place was empty. We ask to be moved to a different one. She replied the place is full and we need each table for the right amount of people. 5 minutes went by and a party of 3 was given a table next to us, and that table is for 4. The irony is, we did ask the same waitress( it seems like she is a trainee) to seat us at that table and she refused and she refused to put an additional chair for us to use to put my wife and my mother bag, since the table was very small for a party of 3. And I will ask the owner to use cameras and be the judge your self. We were there to have fun, to see the zafiros band and of course to eat good food and have nice drinks. The food took for ever to arrive and we had the wrong croketas. And God is our witness the food was 0/10 in favor and on a top of that was burned. They all taste the same. We waited about 50 minutes trying to get the waitress attention to order the main dish and another drink. And I had to go to the bar and get the drink my self and I exchanged few words with two ladies seated at the bar thinking one of them was the owner( use your cameras to validate my story please). We decide to leave the disastrous place. I asked to have the bill at 10:05 and the bill was handed to me at 10:30 and I have to go to the front to pay and the waitress couldn't do it and called the cook to came out of the kitchen to collect the bull( Mr owner once again use your cameras to validate my story). When I was about to leave the place, at 10:36 that's when the show was about to start. And my understanding the show is suppose to start at 09:00. Mr owner I suggest that you really work on time management, improve the service( because your service is a disaster) and please improve the quality of the food. Our experience at your place was a pure disaster , the worst ever I have seen. And trust me, we really tried to have patience and consideration with the trainee waitress. Pleasantly surprised by this little gem in Hialeah. Delicious food, generous portions, very cute decor and wonderful service. My parents mentioned it was modeled after a well-known restaurant in Cuba, and insisted we have dinner here. Stopped by on a Saturday night, it wasn't very busy around 7:30pm, but people slowly began to trickle in. I was not able to catch our waiters name, but he was also the singer that night, and was able to do both roles wonderfully...so kudos to him. As I mentioned, the food portions are very generous so you will not leave hungry. We started off with the Thai Dish Platter appetizer. The veggie spring rolls and the crispy wontons were my favorite, we weren't a big fan of the dipping sauce. As entrees we had the special fried rice, lomo saltado and the half order of house smoked ribs. The fried rice was a table favorite, the lomo was not your traditional sirloin tips, but rather were cut in large pieces, still very tasty. The ribs were perfectly cooked, fell right off the bone, and their sauce was amazing. The cherry on top was dessert, we had the guava rum bread pudding, do not leave without trying it. But be warned you will need to share. Overall, wonderful dinning experience. My parents are tough cookies to please and they absolutely love this place! read more

Polynesio came up as a New Restaurant in my Yelp Mobile, marking it as a pleasant surprise, since it is tucked away in a strip mall just off Okeechobee Road. There's only one sign outside and the entrance has tinted doors. I'm not complaining too much, as it makes for a cool speakeasyish vibe. Once inside, you find cool ceiling lanterns and vaguely Asian decor. I spoke with the owner, who said that Saturdays they have live music. The soundtrack when I went to dinner was mostly Michael Jackson; I'm definitely looking forward to more modern and upbeat jams on weekends. As far as food, portions are both generous and tasty. Even though the restaurant was pretty empty, service was attentive with both the owner and my waitress stopping by. I started with the breaded cheese balls to be dipped in sweet and sour sauce (not too bad, I might try another app next time but the sauce was a win.) My main course was award-winning; it was delicious. I enjoyed their special fried rice (which they were careful to make with no shrimp.) The rice had a good texture, plenty of egg, scallions and lots of pieces of ham, chicken & pork. I spiked it up with a mixture of soy sauce and sweet & sour from the cheese balls. This place recently opened. It is very small inside, gets pretty full real fast. The customer service we received from Sandra was phenomenal, she was constantly checking up on us and making sure we enjoyed everything. Prices are decent, depends what you order. For starters we had wong tong "mariposas chinas". When you first see them you would think they were crab Rangoon but no, they are actually filled with some delicious chicken. On the side the worlds best sauce! That sauce was BOMB ! I even dipped my dinner roll into it hahaha. I had sangria, which I felt was missing the fruits to make it takes like real sangria, and some ice because it was a tad warmish. The half ribs were falling off the bones, the down side was the excessive amount of bbq sauce they put on it. It takes away the amazing smoked cooked flavor. The corn was dry, even had some dark patches. The pork chops were really good, dry, but the sauce on the side helped with the dryness. Their veggies though, they were so juicy and crunchy! Their special fried rice was good. Next time I shall try something else, maybe something more traditional. read more

When I walked into this place I thought I left Hialeah and walked right into the French Polynesian islands. It is beautiful and the attention to detail from the silverware to the lamps is incredible. The owners didn't leave one detail out. The service was better then I would have expected. The waitress was very kind and took our drink order and had excellent recommendations. Every food and drink that came out had a great presentation and I was blown away to say the least. I will be returning I had a great experience here not just the service, but the food was fresh and delicious. I had mixed parilla and was able to try a little of everything. My only suggestion would be to add less oil to the parilla to not make it so oily. But the churros were delicious and the fried rice! Yum!! read more

I went here yesterday after 5pm when I realized it's a local spot near me, we were a party of 3 , we walked In no one greeted us, after a few mins just standing there , we had to ask do we sit where we want? Then someone came to sit us. That didn't fall well with me. SO moving on the food although it wasn't bad, it wasn't good. the fried rice was cold when we got it so imagine a feed minutes on your plate and the rice was super cold I like my food hot, I ordered a margarita but that too was not that good it was very, very low in alcohol so I opted for a sangria which was a little better. We had the appetizers too the mariposas were good , the little cheese balls were so-so. I also had a avocado tomato salad that was good you can't go wrong on That. First time trying Polynesio Lakes. Upon entering I was amazed and surprised by the decor and cleanliness of the place. It's warm spacious and welcoming. I didn't expect to find nice well decorated restaurant in this part of the city. Waitress was nice and spoke little English. Chef Walter came out to great us and gave us few suggestions of the menu and there were not disappointing. I ordered the grilled New York steak sandwich and it came with Parmesan truffles fries It was very good quality, quantity, and presentation. My friend got the pesto chicken over penne and he said it's one of the best he had. Overall very good experience at this new place. If you are in the area you must stop and try it, you won't be disappointed! Definitely we will go back. read more

This is probably the best food in the area. I can honestly say that I am very impressed. It's been awhile since I wrote a review, but Polynesio definitely deserved one. The service, decor, and specially the food this place is a must go to next. We tried several dishes and all had great presentation and taste. I regret not taking pictures. The 3 appetizers we had mariposas chinas with the tastiest sauce, cheese balls and tostones rellenos all full of favor. The fried rice and barbacoa chicken is a big portion and filling. We couldn't finish it. The guava bread pudding was amazing. They had live music. This place is by far very clean and inviting. The decor is outstanding, the food is delicious and for those of us who grew up in Miami or in the United States but are Cuban we will forever remember El Polinesio Restaurant. Horrible!!! Apparently the good reviews come from family and friends. The server was not the problem. I ordered yuca frita as an appetizer. They were like croquettes and came with a dip. No flavor to them or the dip. The main course was shrimp alfredo. Because I figured it could not be a cuban restaurant. The alfredo was salty and the shrimps were hard and about 3/4 inches in circumsference. I asked the server if it came with a side of bread or salad. Nope, only cheese. The table next to me ordered what I'm guessing were pork chops for all 4 guests. I saw they had a hard time cutting the meat. No wonder the place was empty. My family and I went we all had different dishes I had the lomo saltado as an entree and it was pretty tasty. My girlfriend had the chicken pesto pasta that was to die for it was my favorite dish. My mother in law had the pollo Polynesio which was a half a chicken with two sides the meat was full of flavor honestly tasted like smoked ham. My father in law had the rack of ribs I've had better. I think the only thing good about the place was the server. She was very upbeat attentive and nice how ever when it comes to the food it was not a good experience. I ordered the chicken Gordon bleu and it came out cold the server took it to the kitchen and they gave me a new chicken this time it came out a bit more warm but the cheese and ham were still cold after that 2nd time I couldn't bring myself to ask for a 3rd time to remake the chicken (it seems the chicken is like any store bought chicken put into a freezer and than an oven to cook) I asked if I can have my dish changed, in my eyes that did not seem like a problem as I was going to ask for something more expensive but come to my surprise the server came back after talking to the owner and asked why I wanted to change my dish. I just sent the dish back to the kitchen twice for being cold, was that not enough of a reason, after I spoke with her she said that they will change my dish I ordered a fettuccine Alfredo which my boyfriend had ordered as well. The comparison with the dishes was very noticeable. His was more dry and sticky while mine was creamy. The chicken has no flavor besides the flavor of wood from the furnace and the sauce is a very heavy cream (which I did not mind). I also ordered a crema de queso which I loved and a queso frito which was so-so. Over all it seemed like a very nice place and I wanted to try it but I don't think I'll ever come back here again but that's just my opinion, you can never judge a place until you try it. read more

We ordered the parrillada polinesia and all meat was over cooked, the chicken tasted old and dry, the sausage was pure salt. [Disappointing. Wouldn't return.] Visited around 1 pm on Thursday after reading good reviews. Warm welcome from server, who sat us in one of their 3 booths. (Only other patrons were finishing up in another booth) I would have preferred a table as this booth was right beside the re-tool/service station and kitchen entrance. It was also a bit tight and table was immovable/not adjustable. (I didn't ask to move simply because we aren't able to speak Spanish and our waitress didn't speak English.) We were a bit disappointed it is not a full bar...just beer, wine & wine-based cocktails (sangria/margarita/pina colada) but thats on me for not having researched better. (Misinterpreted pics of "cocktails" and "happy hour" signs) Ordered margarita; just ok. Wished I'd stuck with water. Server (missed her name) was incredibly sweet and upbeat, working through our language barrier to take our order. (She even taught me a few Spanish words/phrases! ) Unfortunately, the food was a huge disappointment. It was generous & reasonably timed but was also both incorrect and bland. (& this coming from someone avoids spicy!) My boyfriend's Cuban was barely warm, *not pressed* & very sparse. He said meat & roll were fresh, crinkle fries were ok... just cold and not as described on menu. ("How can our food be cold when we're the only table and practically sitting in the kitchen?!"). His side of garlic mashed potatoes were subtle, light & fluffy. Best thing about the meal. My Kalua Pork Sandwich was also cold, dry & bland. When I mentioned the missing pineapple relish, server first checked the menu then took plate back to kitchen. It was returned with what appeared to be a few canned pineapple chunks on one of the sandwich halves. The ambiance was a little lost since it was so bright outside but is likely quite lovely after sundown. Our server was friendly & attentive. Very modern and clean inside, and with very affordable prices, they cannot be beat in quality and value. Not a very good experience. I went with my family on a Saturday. In terms of ambience and atmosphere, there was live music and by live I mean a solo singer with terrible voice and bad taste in music. He was singing so loud that our ears hurt. He also makes the guests sing while eating which is super bad manners. That restaurant is too small for such loud music. In terms of decor, the restaurant has very nice decor but no waiting/receiving area and when the restaurant was busy people would come in a wait by the door standing for at least 20 mins before someone approach them many of them left and no one noticed. In terms of food, we ordered Maripositas Chinas for appetizer, they were over cooked. Also ordered Te Kelan Cheese Balls these were great in taste but super expensive. They only serve 6 tiny balls for $7 that's over $1 per ball, the most expensive cheese balls you will ever find. Their bar only serves 3 kinds of drinks, and they don't have them all available. Main dish we all ordered the Pollo Barbacoa, the chicken was insipid, no flavor and a little dry. The side rice was edible. I ordered the Curly Parmesan Fries, the fries were not curly, were reheated and the parmesan was from a bottle. In terms of service, the servers were very attentive and fast. They were also very polite. I think if they improve the quality of food, the price or quantity of the appetizers and the live music to be more Cuban classics at a decent volume, they could retain some costumers. read more

First time here and it was pretty good. We try to adhere to a Keto lifestyle and this worked out fine. Only downfall was they did not have club soda or seafood.
