Excellent spot for a lunch or dinner in the medley area ! I absolutely love their smoked pork completa with moros and yuca. This is my go to order at this spot. They have very reasonable prices with good portions and very tasty food. The smoked pork meat is my favorite but the ribs and chicken are also good. This place might look like a small place in a random shopping center but they are putting out some good food. I stopped in while with one of my employees in the area. I had the roasted pork with boniato, white rice and garbanzos. First the serving size is huge, enough for 2 people. But wow was that some tasty pork. You can tell it was marinated well as the flavor is throughout the meat. My employee had the boliche which was soft and flavorful. I decided to take some home to my husband and the woman behind the counter offered me a piece of the smoked pork. My mouth waters thinking about it right now. Great Smokey flavor, tender meat, I can't believe I almost left without having it. I took my husband home the smoked pork and he loved it- he is picky so this rare. Found this place when I was putting gas in my car by the Wawa around the corner & when I tell you that this restaurant is an absolute gem... located in a small plaza in the corner of the building by the stairs, I walked in here curious of what they were offering. Great thing is that all their food is fresh and ready to serve, they put it on a to-go plate so you can leave right away or eat-in. Honestly, I couldn't decide on what to get because everything looked so delicious, so I decided to go with white rice, shredded beef and fried plantains. I had to sit down and tear it up because I was hungry... so why not. All I'm going to say is that I had to order a second plate to-go for later today & decided to try something else out. If you are by the area or if it's close to you, this is a must go-to restaurant if you want to be full and satisfy all your hunger needs. When you walk in to the storefront off Okeechobee Road, it looks like a plain Cuban cafeteria with a couple of precooked meats and sides. You don't see or smell any smoker, and you order your "completa". Once you get to your table though, in front of you is a tasty piece of smoked BBQ chicken. So yes, it's an undercover BBQ spot. Looking for some BBQ dinner after a Sunday at the office, I came across Suarez BBQ on my Yelp search..I was expecting one of the traditional Okeechobee Road ranches and was pleasantly surprised to find an air conditioned, intimate spot with Old Havana street scene paintings on the wall and a TV showing some soccer game. I opted for the BBQ chicken, moros and sweet plantains. It seems they have the meats precooked, and they re-smoke it after you pick, leaving the tasty smoke (which is complemented by their smokey bbq sauce. The moros were just greasy (I dont like dry rice) and the sweet plantains generous. The staff was pleasant, and let me know their claim of their smoked beef special. Wow this place is a super great find! In the middle of a warehouse district I would not expect to find such an amazing Cuban BBQ restaurant. No it's not fancy, but the quality and bang for your buck is amazing. My girlfriend and I ordered the take out plate of BBQ pork, black beans and rice, and yuca. The woman piled our container to the max with not just the filler food but the amount of pork was CRAZY. I almost felt bad only paying a little over $8.00 for that much great food. I remember my parents bringing me food from here years ago before when it was an open air more... rustic and authentic barbecue place I guess you could say. I hadn't had them in years and had told them to bring me some whenever they were in the area. They took me and boy was I surprised to see that it was no a normal looking fritanga-esque storefront in a plaza. It took me by surprise because obviously, what a change. According to what my mother heard, all the bbq smoke was rubbing neighbors the wrong way at their old place or something or other. But fret not because the food is still just as great. You can taste the firewood in every bite of meat and in the rice as well. I've never tasted rice like theirs anywhere else. It just makes you want to overeat everything they have. And their tamales? They're to die for. Sweet corn with bits of steak that's been molido into the dough. They might look heavy and doughy but they are definitely not. Again it is like a fritanga style where they have specials of the day and the like but everyone was mostly there for their signature meat and rice. We bought 3 full plates, three tamales and two drinks and it came out to just under $30. It was a great amount of food for every plate too. We wanted to take meat home and a pound of meat was about $8. You can't beat these prices for their awesome taste. Edit: open great hours too. Weekdays are about 6am to late evening, around 8 or 10 I think it was and weekends they open at 9am until the same evening hours. read more

There are many many things wrong with this place, which is a shame because the food is pretty decent. Let's start with service: We walked in and were met with blank stares all around. I said several things in Spanish so the employee would know I understood; still nothing. I asked the guy behind the counter and he told me to order first, while speaking in an annoyed tone. I ordered the pork chunks and the avocado salad, and he told me I had to pick out an avocado from a bin and then buy it. Ok, fine. My boyfriend had a "completa" with smoked meat, congri, and maduros. We finally went to pay and the lady was rushing us out, and I asked her if was going to cut my avocado for me like she had said. She then sighed and started to cut it with no gloves on. We started to eat and the food was almost cold, but it tasted pretty good. We also checked our receipt on the way home just to see how much we got charged and we were overcharged by $3. Pathetic. Terrible service, floors were dirty, rude staff, and overcharged on top of it. I'll never be coming back here again. read more

Two stars because the chicharron was good. After reading reviews about this place I was eager to get to a local spot near the office to grab some chicharron and fried masitas! I got there and wasn't expecting anything fancy but the service was definitely not stellar. The masitas tasted like old oil, I thought the mariquitas were fresh but they were just plantain chips heaped in plastic bags in a plastic container. They had a bunch of avocados and I got super excited and asked if they made avocado salad as in other cuban places, only to be told No! And offered a wilted looking iceberg salad instead. The bagged chicharron was decent though some pieces were a little too salty. I love these little comedores but this one I will not be returning to! Especially after I asked for lime and was directed to a plastic Tupperware and told to scoop them out with my bare hands as does everyone else. I was traveling through for work and didn't have time to look up reviews so I figured I would just stop in because I saw a barbecue sign and figured it's hard to make bad barbecue. There is no way I would consider this barbecue, it is instead some of the best food I have every had! Seriously! I stopped in on a Wednesday thank goodness because their special that day was Ropa Vieja and it's like the angels started singing. I had to pace myself because I found myself shoveling the food into my mouth as fast as I could chew and even when I felt like I was going to explode, I still couldn't stop myself from eating! The portions were gigantic and were enough for 2-3 meals. I struggled a bit because I don't speak any Spanish and the lady behind the counter didn't speak any English but I did my best to try to pronounce everything I wanted.
