    Ropa vieja

THE MOROOOO! If I could submit a review with two words it would be that! I have never tasted anything like their Moro unless it was in Abuela's kitchen. My party and I agreed we would go back alone just for that side dish! To be fair the yuca and maduros were amazing as well! I had the tops vieja which was delicious as well as the lechon. The breaded chicken was missing flavor but cooked right and would have appreciated cooked onions versus raw. Overall experience was great and service was attentive! Very casual setting and old school Cuban vibes which e enjoyed! Don't leave without the tres leches and flan!

Best place for Cuban food in the area. Had a chill but classy vibe, booths with glass dividers for privacy. Their marriquitas, ox tail, Vaca frita, lechon, morros, cameron, and just about everything we tried was great. Staff was very friendly (though if you go, make sure to have a Spanish speaker in the party), we were seated promptly and the food came hot and fresh.

    2024.10.18 - liver steak

It was okay, great service and big portions! What I got a couple of items to share - Plantain chips, fried fish and liver steak (bonus Oxtail). The plantain chips came out warm, not sure if it is homemade or not, I do appreciate that it wasn't salty and the dipping sauce for this was great great (be warned, garlic-y), the liver steak was okay, cooked well with the onions on top. The fried fish I wish was better, it was not fresh.. so we got the oxtail which was so tender and soft! Very surprised by that. The mixed season rice has these pork rinds on it and it was no where near chewable... The white bean soup has okay, but it had pork/meat which I was surprised it had. Environment It was very late for me, so I didn't see much on the outside, but I was able to park very close to the restaurant on the back. The inside was very spacious with a lot of booth seating. Niceness of the staff Very nice staff and attentive. I wish that the waiter was a little more descriptive about the dishes though. i.e when I asked about the white bean soup, they left out the important details that there was pork in the soup as well. The server was very nice to swap out the fish dish that was not as fresh but I was surprised that the cost did not reflect the new dish name... Dollar It was mid-pricing. The total for the 3 dishes was 80. Yes I will try somewhere else.

    Roasted pork plate is $15

Stopped in for lunch at the recommendation of a customer. Not a bad spot, very authentic, everything is in Spanish and the servers are bi lingual but will first speak to you in Spanish. Got the roasted pork plate and it was fine. The interior of the restaurant is over for the area. Very clean as well.

White Rice and Black Beans Plantains Vaca Frita de pollo

Stop by Molina's for take out dinner and I am sad to say that my meal was a disaster. The rice was mushy, plantains taste like frozen plantains, the vaca frita de pollo was bland & under cooked. Needless to say the beans and the onions were the stars of the show. The gentleman that took my order was pleasant. Overall, I would've ate a better at Pollo Tropical than Molina's. This was their yucca con mojo

I'm giving 3 stars for the service. Our server was nice, but there were a few things I wasn't too happy about. We were offered still or sparking water, so I said "still". I should've asked for tap water but it didn't cross my mind. The water was $12 which was a surprise since it was almost the price of the food! When I paid by card, the server with the credit card machine was on the phone speaking with the manager in Spanish. The screen of the credit card machine was faced away the whole time so we wouldn't have been able to see the total. It was a bit shocking being charged almost $37 for one dish that cost $17! The service charge is ~20% and already included in the bill. Even though the food was good, I felt a bit icky from this experience so I won't come again when I'm in Miami Beach. If it was only one of the above I would've been able to brush it off easier, but the combination of being charged for expensive water + not being shown the total before being charged + server being on the phone + 20% service charge before tip was quite a lot. I sat outside and it was really nice being right on the sidewalk and people watching! Cute restaurant and great location right in the heart of Miami Beach.

Our favorite time to visit is Sunday brunch, especially since they have a special menu. We recently came for Father's Day, and even though Julio was celebrating as a father himself, he was working incredibly hard to make sure every guest had a great experience. You can really see how much heart and dedication he pours into his business. As expected on Father's Day, there was a bit of a wait, especially since we were a larger party, but none of us minded. To thank us for our patience, Julio generously brought out croquetas for the table on the house, which was such a thoughtful gesture. I can't recommend Trigo Café enough. The food is consistently excellent, the service is warm and welcoming, and the atmosphere feels like home. While brunch is our favorite, their lunch and dinner are just as great, and the new tapas and wine area they recently added is a fantastic addition. If you haven't been, you're missing out!

However,…read morewith slow service and nickel and diming (18 percent automatic tip) and smallish portions I don't think I'll be back. Having had a quick workday lunch and walked around the mall, I had worked up an appetite. I was seated in a corner table for two and my order was taken. The restaurant did not seem that crowded even for a Friday night but it felt like a long wait. Unlike many Cuban places, they don't offer complimentary bread. I ordered their "platanos a tentacion" (bacon wrapped sweet plantains), grilled chicken and moros. The rice was a little hard and the chicken breast on the small side and barely seasoned other than the onions garnishing it. Service didn't feel very attentive for me as a solo diner. Between finishing my dinner and waiting to order either dessert or cafecito, I also sat and waited until a waitress finally came by. At that point, I just got the coffee and my check. I don't believe I was offered a printed receipt, just the card terminal. I asked if the tip was included and pretty much in time when I was putting the usual tip (trying to be generous with 20 percent) I was told that it was a service charge, and that the tip was extra, but had full amounts starting with 18%. So basically I paid 30% tip for a small portion of food and inattentive service. Looking back, I see that this restaurant had a different name and I had enjoyed dinner at their other location six years back. It's disappointing to see how it has fallen off. As it were, a lot of the original creative items on the menu are no longer being offered.
