Was craving pasta and was up north of my home so googled "Italian restaurants near me" and ended up at this WONDERFUL little Italian place. The service was fantastic. I ordered the lunch special; a warm roll arrived with my drunk and a crisp house salad arrived soon after. Once finished, the salad bowl was quickly cleared and my spaghetti with meat sauce arrived and was a huge portion - and delicious! The restaurant is cozy, the staff is friendly. Even the bathroom was pristine. Easy parking right out front. Three servers worked the room beautifully. I haven't eaten pasta in a LONG time and this was perfect! I took half of my meal home for dinner. The lunch special is a DEAL! I will definitely come back here. So glad I found it! read more

Came in tonight after watching some Italian cooking shows. Food was excellent. Loved the bread appetizer and the staff was very friendly!! She had the shrimp scampi with was light and fresh with a hint of lemon. I had the meat balls (a must because they're super tender and soft and delicious) and the Chicken Sausage Giambota. Our friend John invited us to have dinner at this beautiful restaurant! The minute we walked in the atmosphere was friendly, people talking, laughing and having a great time! The waitress was friendly, attentive and knowledgeable about the menu, and she immediately, brought us our wine glasses and took our order! Appetizer were delivery quickly, stuffed mushroom, calamari and the bruschetta was delicious! Then my main dish Pasta Arrabiata was delicious!!! I will definitely, will go back! I want to like this restaurant more than I do. This is my 2nd time visiting and when I arrived, just like the first time I visited, I stood at the entrance for a couple minutes without any acknowledgement or a greeting. I understand that restaurants are short-staffed these days, so I waited patiently with my friend. After 10 minutes, we finally hear "we'll seat you in a few." Okay, we'll hang tight. Then 20 minutes goes by and a few other people arrive, all of us waiting in the front of the restaurant. No acknowledgement from the restaurant on the small crowd of people waiting. At this point I see several servers give us eye contact, but there's no smile or greeting. We're all asking ourselves outloud... do you think they will send someone out soon? Do they see us? After 25 minutes of being ignored, I was done. Another couple gave up and walked out and we followed suit right after. When we walked out the door, someone came outside and said, "now your table is ready!" How convenient. They were mildly busy, but not enough to make zero attempts to communicate with the people waiting upfront. The food is super affordable, which is nice... but wasn't amazing from my first visit. Imagine our shock. We made reservations for Valentine's Day. No problem. They found our reservation and while seating us they asked if the valentines menu was explained to us. IT DEFINITELY WAS NOT!!! There was one set menu and it was $50 per person. So our modest intimate dinner was going to be a minimum $100. SOMETHING WE WERE UNPREPARED FOR!!! Imagine our shock and disgrace as we had to excuse ourselves in front of a packed restaurant and leave feeling disgraced. My love had just started a new job the week before and he was so apologetic. Started off with a nice blue cheese salad. Very nice not alot but I didn't mind. It didn't fill me up so I can finish meal. I ordered the Shrimp Fra Diavolo extra spicy. It came with 5 thick shrimp. Sauce was unbelievably on spot. Reminded me of when I used to go to New York a lot. Only issue was the pasta as it was way too thin for me. The dish could of used thicker noodles and a little bit more sauce. It would of soaked up into the noodles. It was good enough though and will happily order it again. Amore is a family-owned, Italian restaurant. Dining here was on par with going to your aunt and uncle's house for dinner. They love you, but they tend to forget about you. You forgive them for not remembering to refill your drink right away because they get around to it eventually and dote on you just a bit when they do. The food is not as good as your mom's home cooking, but there is plenty of it. You leave full with a goody bag in tow. The Stromboli was dramatically served with a steak knife plunged into it standing straight up. It's just the type of theatrics your crazy uncle goes to to get your attention and a laugh. The spinach salad had fruit and nuts in it which was a delightful change from the boring house salads you get elsewhere. You won't be back right away because there are lots of other options in town, but you can't help wanting to support this friendly, family-owned business. They're family after all. read more

This is a quaint place with quality food and great prices. The service is a little lackluster, but nothing to complain about. As every review has pointed out, they are BYOB, which is actually really nice. I can drink a $13 bottle of wine and it will only cost me the $13. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, which were the tiniest little mushrooms that anyone could find, and they were swimming in a bowl of sauce. The sauce was delicious, and we used their fantastic rolls to enjoy it. The table ordered the Veal Marsala and the Chicken Carchiofio, both of which were very nice. We also ordered a Margherita pizza, which came out a little cold (but reheated amazingly the next day). I'd come back, just for the quality and value alone. read more

I recommend it if you're a vegetarian or need something smaller than a dinner portion. For dinner I went basic with spaghetti with meat sauce, delicious, enough to take home for leftovers (if you had a appetizer) and a pretty simple dinner. Wasn't flashy but as a classic dinner, doesn't have to be! Simple but satisfying I did my best to save room for a coffee and dessert, I did it. Never fight to stuff your food down your gullet, get a to go box to save room for the sweet and good shit. That night I got myself a cappuccino and a Tiramisu. Classic and a top finishing combo on my list. It did the job. Get this combo if you can. They also provide rolls on the house as you wait for your dishes being whipped up. They for sure help with the meal f you wanna mix it up with the proper dishes. Also little packages of butter to go with it. The staff were friendly and properly attentive. Not too inquisitive nor distant. Fair to say on a very slow day, make me curious how a full restaurant would fare. None the less I would recommend this place looking for a classic dining experience not being overly flashy nor beaten down. This restaurant was just right. I have been told by countless restaurants all over the us and around the world how well they do it only to be disappointed with tough chewy poorly prepared dishes ranging from bland to soupy. Great family-owned Italian joint! Vangi is always so helpful and quick! I frequently use Café Amoré for catering office lunches, and Vangi does not disappoint! She does a great job with everything. My go-to catering order for 10-15 people is the spinach and cheese lasagna and chicken Marsala. I also order the salad, bread rolls, and a dessert. BEWARE!!!! Three of us went on a Friday night. The place was cute. The service was good but the food was not. The prices were very affordable and you can bring your own wine. Issues: 1. I asked the owner a question after she had a conversation at a nearby table which we overheard. She answered my question sweetly "no speaka the English". I then asked the same question in German, Spanish, and Italian. She then answered in Engish and quickly ran away. I think this place has been open since the dinosaurs roamed Richardson, and we know she "speaka the English" perfectly. VERY INSULTING. 2. THEY CHARGE, ALMOST HIDDEN ON THE CHECK, AND MISSING ON THE CREDIT CARD RECEIPT A 20% GRATUITY WITHOUT TELLING YOU. Two of the tables around us were seniors and we looked and saw they left an additional 20% tip, probably not knowing they were actually leaving a total tip of 44%. Of the clientele, 50% were seniors who may not scrutinize the check like the younger clientele. Is this SENIOR ABUSE or just a rude, sneaky policy?
