Not only does this restaurant provides futures for underprivileged youths, they provide this delicious combination of flavors. The Donny in the back & the Cafe Hope burger upfront. The Donny is a chicken parm on homemade focaccia bread!!!! You guys go support them! @phidingthefam

This place can be hard to find if you are not too familiar with the area, but once you find it, it is so cute and worth it. The glass windows overlook the gulf course. It is one of the prettier places for brunch on the Westbank for sure. The service here is a little strange but the workers there are really nice. Just make sure to bring some patience, you are supporting a good cause. I got the shrimp and grits and the gumbo. I thought the gumbo was a little salty for me since it didn't come with any rice like the other places. The potato salad in the gumbo was pretty different and that helped offset a little of the salty flavors. If you like creamy shrimp and grits, you would love this version. The sauce was rich and flavorful. The creamy cheese grits and the fresh juicy shrimp added a decadent punch to the meal. I would like to go back to try the lunch menu that they offer.

First I must state I love the mission of this place. Helping at risk young adults get training in the restaurant and hospitality industries. Now my review: I had the shrimp and grits with andouille sausage and the gumbo. The shrimp and grits were DELICIOUS. Everything about this dish was done right. The grits and shrimp were perfectly cooked. The andouille sausage was the perfect compliment to this dish. I have nothing negative to say about this dish. The shrimp gumbo was really good also. I recommend this place without a doubt. This is not restaurant fast food, this is delicious take your time and enjoy the flavor experience food. Great food and service. Without a doubt I'll be back. Even if I have to drive all the way from Lafayette to enjoy this great food with a purpose.

Food was good, had the brunch burger. It came out fresh including the perfect French fries. It's a little pricy but is a great treat. I haven't tried the normal lunch menu. I recomend not getting the water. It tasted like tap water. Also the service was okay, nothing special. I do want to come back and try the lunch menu.

Café Hope is such an amazing place. Not only is it a restaurant, but it's a program designed to train young people between ages 16 and 24 in the restaurant business. They are trained in every aspect of the restaurant from the garden to the kitchen to the dining room. They then go on to a job at another restaurant. It's a really incredible program. I have been to Café Hope twice. The first time I sampled a little bit of the entire menu and the second time was a typical dining experience. This review is of the second time I went, but if you are curious about any of the other food I tried (see pictures) feel free to ask. My dad and I stopped in here because, although I had been here for a sampling, I had yet to try the shrimp and grits, so that's what I got. I have been on a real grits kick lately and I have no idea why. If I go to a place and grits are on the menu, they are a "go" for me. I also got a side of potato salad, because during my sampling I loved it! The shrimp and grits came and they looked so good! There was a good amount of shrimp served on top of yummy, creamy grits. I added a little hot sauce and this just put the entire dish over the top. It was amazing! My potato salad was delicious, of course. The potato salad here is diced potatoes with a nice dressing mixed into it, so it isn't heavy at all. The menu does tend to change a bit, but I found that it's eclectic enough that anyone is sure to find something that they will enjoy and there is even a kid's menu, so be sure to bring them along as well. Lunch is served at the restaurant, Tuesday through Friday from 11am to 2pm. There is also dinner on Fridays from 6 to 9. I will absolutely return to Cafe Hope and support this amazing restaurant. A meal here is one you can really feel good about.

Back again but I want to give some constructive criticism so that you guys can improve. The service- it is soooooooo slow. I know it's a training program and I'm all for that but you really need to train on attentiveness and promptness. It's waaaay too laid back and I'm decently chill when it comes to understanding that waiters are overwhelmed. However, when you only have 1 table in the whole place- I shouldn't have to wait 15 min to get my coffee. Then another 5 to get the creamer. Then gotta go back for the sugar. Then get entrees out at separate times (like 10 minute difference). Then ask for syrup for pancakes and still don't have the syrup 10 minutes later. Just give a larger portion of syrup y'all. 1 oz is not gonna do it for 4 pancakes :) simple things like just keeping the sugar on the table or holding food on the warmer until everyone's is ready will go a long way. The food is outstanding as always :)

    Brunch burger

This little gem! I can't believe I have never tried this place before today. The brunch burger was amazing and the the shrimp and grits was cooked perfectly.

This is such a great dining experience on so many levels. First of all, the food is wonderful. It's a rotating, seasonal, local menu of Louisiana classics done in new ways. The place itself is beautiful, set in an old chapel with shady courtyards. Finally, all "employees" are at-risk teens learning career skills and completing their education. If you're in the area and have the envie for a fabulous lunch, definitely stop by!!

What a wonderful find. Thanks, Yelp! If you're looking for an inexpensive but delicious lunch, take a trip out to Cafe Hope. The setting is charming, the food good, the price right, and the staff very friendly. Google the restaurant first, so you know the "why" of the restaurant, and you'll enjoy it more.

The food is fantastic for lunch, and better yet, when you go there, you're helping out a great cause. It is also really affordable. I love the mac 'n cheese and the bread pudding, but everything I've had on the menu is tasty.

Salvo's Seafood was another recommendation from a friend, and at this point I think we need to keep…read morelistening to their recommendations because this place was absolutely worth it. This was actually my first real seafood boil experience, and it was my wife's first seafood boil as well, so we really did not know exactly what to expect. Thankfully, we had Jaden as our waitress, and she was amazing from beginning to end. She was attentive, friendly, patient with us, and helped explain everything since we were both new to the whole seafood boil experience. Having someone willing to help you instead of making you feel like you should already know what you are doing makes a huge difference. We went with the all you can eat special, and when that food started hitting the table, we knew we had made the right decision. There was a ton of food with shrimp, snow crab, blue crab, sausage, corn, potatoes and everything covered in some seriously good seasoning. The seasoning was one of my favorite parts because it had plenty of flavor without taking away from the seafood itself. My favorite was definitely the shrimp. I could have kept eating those by themselves. They were seasoned perfectly, had great flavor, and were easily what I kept going back for. Then we tried the charbroiled oysters. I have to say that oysters really are not my thing, so I was not expecting them to be one of the highlights of the meal. I was completely wrong. These were awesome. The charbroiled flavor completely changed it for me, and I actually enjoyed eating them. My wife was impressed too, and that says a lot more than my opinion because she grew up eating oysters in New Zealand. If she says the oysters are good, I am listening! Another thing we really appreciated was that we never felt rushed. We sat there for around an hour and 15 minutes eating, cracking crab legs, trying everything, talking, and just enjoying ourselves. Nobody made us feel like they were waiting for us to leave. Jaden continued checking on us and making sure we had everything we needed throughout the meal. And yes, a seafood boil is messy. By the end of it, you know you have been eating! But that is part of the experience. You are cracking shells, dipping seafood, getting seasoning everywhere and enjoying every minute of it. For someone who would normally say this type of meal is not really my thing, Salvo's completely changed my mind. Great seafood, awesome seasoning, huge portions, a relaxed atmosphere, and excellent service from Jaden made this a great experience for both of us. We will definitely be coming back. Next time I already know where I am starting: bring me the shrimp and those charbroiled oysters!

I wanted to eat here, really I did…read more I was in town last week for work and a coworker and I made the 45 minute drive from where we were staying to Salvo's. Google said they were open, but when we got there, we found out they were closed and on vacation the week before the 4th of July. I'm not really mad about that but there was nothing on their social media about being closed or away that week. I called a couple of times on our drive over and no one answered but the locals we worked with said this place is hopping during dinner time, we just assumed it was really busy and they couldn't get to the phones. A little better communication would have been appreciated, especially in a city where tourism is such an important industry for them. I'm sure the locals who eat there all the time knew they would be closed that week, but us out of towners did not know. So I'll go right in the middle, three stars as I can't really judge them on their food. However I work in a customer facing field too, and communication with your customer base is key. That really bummed me out. Maybe next time.
