This is one of the best if not the BEST restaurant in Chalmette, LA. They offer some great lunch specials and happy hour specials! This is also probably the closest to a fine dining restaurant that exists in the Chalmette area. They really offer some great food here and their service is also really professional and above average. Came with a group to try the $20 lunch deals. Considering inflation and ambiance at this restaurant, a 2-course meal for $20 is a good deal. Starting with ambiance. Is this a Commander's Palace or Arnaud's level place? No, but honestly, I don't expect to find anything like that in St. Bernard. The tables do have actual tablecloths though, and the lighting isn't business-bright, so it's definitely a step up in atmosphere/sophisticated feel from many local restaurants. The waitstaff also seemed a bit above average, patient and attentive. Now for the food. One of us loved oysters and hadn't had them in a while, so he skipped the special lunch menu in order to get an oyster appetizer and oyster entre; he said both were good. One of us got the lunch special with the Korean BBQ Steak Sandwich; she said the flavor was good, but was slightly disappointed at how the sandwich literally fell apart because the bread couldn't hold up to the juicy contents. The last two of us got the lobster bisque starter and the shrimp & grits. The bisque was poured tableside, which I thought was a nice touch. The sauce/gravy on the shrimp & grits had beer in it, which made for an unusual, excellent flavor. One other thing: do yourself a favor and park in the parking lot behind the restaurant. Low key quiet environment outside of New Orleans. We were in the area as my daughter attended a Friendsgiving. Not typical to dine out the night before Thanksgiving but I'm glad we did. We had reservations so we were quickly greeted and seated. There was no shortage of great service from how quickly we received our water to the wine menu, to food suggestions. I totally forgot the name of my dish but it was amazing. It was a redfish I believe topped with a creek crawfish sauce, lump crabmeat that was also over fried green tomatoes. The bbq oysters were a new try and they were pretty good. We ordered a 1/2 dozen the was surprisingly presented with a dozen. Needless to say we ate them all. We left and headed out to pick up my daughter but realized she wasn't quite ready when we went to pick her up so we returned back to sit at the bar and have a cocktail and dessert. I had another glass of wine with the brownie and ice cream, small portion which was roughly $4. Perfect size and perfectly priced enough for us to share and enjoy 2-3 bites each. I brought my mom here for a birthday dinner; it's her favorite restaurant in Chalmette. We came on a Thursday evening and it was not too busy. We were 1 of 4 tables. Food was delivered to our table very quickly but our entrees were a little bit cool. Our server was very attentive and friendly. The boudin egg rolls appetizer is so big, it is enough for 4! It was super crispy on the outside and the filling was delicious. The ribeye was good, but definitely could have been better if it was hot. The crabs entree came with delicious buttered potatoes. Worst birthday ever! My dad and I stopped at me mes for lunch! As they no longer had the grilled tuna steak with the asian sauce! And the menu cut to three items for a 20 dollar lunch we ordered two half oyster po boys! And a spinach and artichoke did! After waiting 30 minutes after eating the appetizer, mind you there were only two tables and three waiters on staff! We had to ask for our sandwiches! No one had even put the order in! After this fiasco the tab came to over &65.00 for one poboy and a side dip! Water is $6.00 a bottle no glass full or half bottles! Went last week with friends for the first time. Food was tasty but for the price a small house salad would be nice. Service was good & attentive. Getting food out took some time. The turnoff for me was as my ice tea became empty it was not filled. I asked for a refill only to find out when I got the bill I was charged another $3 for the tea. Now I eat out often & I have to say even in high end New Orleans restaurants nobody rips you off for another tea charge! What does a glass of tea cost five cents to make ? So for that reason I am out & will not return or recommend the restaurant. If you are going to be cheap & charge for tea refills at least tell the customer about it! read more

From the time I walked in till the time I walked out all staff members were friendly and engaging. The ambiance was classy and relaxing. For the appetizers we had char-broiled oysters, boudin egg rolls, head-on shrimp, and crab cakes. They were all delicious. My two favorites were the oysters and the boudin egg rolls. I had the lunch special it was a piece of deep fried pork loin with these pan fried potatoes with a mushroom sauce and it was laid on this barbecue type sauce. it was delish. Everyone at the table said their food was excellent. The kids shrimp with fries, shrimp and grits - which I want to try next - the fillet with a house salad, and gumbo. As soon as you walk in you are greeted by the hostess which looked to be the manager on staff for the night. He was very friendly and sat us right away. Ashley was our waitress and she was very attentive to our needs even though she had the entire section by herself. My fiancée and I went to celebrate our anniversary and it just happened to be steak night. My favorite! I got a 14oz NY strip medium. It was cooked perfectly. I got it with the loaded mashed potatoes. They were pretty good just a little too much sour cream, but everyone's palate is different. It's a small place but it is a great place in the parish for a more high end dinner experience (they also are open for lunch, with specials). Only complaint I have is we got a lemon ice box pie to go and it was very small and thin and cost $9. MeMe's is the best kept secret in Nola that everyone needs to know about! If you don't live in the Chalmette area don't let the drive intimidate you, it's more than worth it. Chef and Owner, Doug Braselman (former Head Chef at Emeril's before Covid) has curated a menu of local favorites. Everything we ordered was perfect, from the House Salad to Filet Mignons and the House Special White Chocolate Bread Pudding. Service wasn't rushed which made it easy to relax and enjoy our meal. Our Server Ashley was great and so knowledgeable about the menu. The background music was spot on for the mood and wasn't too loud. I can't wait to go back to try several different kinds of oysters and their lemon pie. I'm adding this to my list of favorites and will visit often! read more

My husband and I visited Meme's last night. We ordered the Boudin Egg Rolls which were extremely over seasoned with salt. I ordered the roasted chicken, which looked more like half of a Cornish Hen. For $24, the portion size was very disappointing. Especially when you are still hungry after your meal. May I suggest they at least add a salad to the entree'. Overall I thought this place was pretty good. Brought a friend here for his birthday. Went on steak night, I like that they give you a free glass of wine with your steak. Steak was good, we all had ribeyes. Garlic mashed potatoes good as well. All steak places are very overpriced everywhere, but I would say this place doesn't gouge you as bad as the others. What was overpriced was the asparagus. They charge $7 for sides but an extra $2 for asparagus so I paid $9 for 6 pieces of asparagus and 2 of them were short (see picture). Wow! And not in a good a way. I have been a patron throughout the years and as time has passed I have realized how much money I have wasted at this restaurant. The last visit I made my mind up, I will never eat here again. I ordered the seafood platter. I believe it was $32. What I received was a microwaved pile of old seafood and fries. It may have been fresh the day before but not the next. It was so unappetizing. If you want fresh ho somewhere else or order a salad.
