Butterface burger and Jones green apple soda
    Scarlett M.

(Note: 4 stars is a good, solid rating from me. I don't automatically give everything I like 5 stars.) New burger place in da Parish, had to give them a try. I must say, I really liked it! The thin, savory, slightly crispy meat patties pair really well with the creamy peanut butter on the Butterface Burger. They have a nice soda selection - I opted to try a Jones soda - and the fries on offer are brown curly fries (superior to plain yellow fries).

Smashed in Meraux takes burgers, smashes them like they owe rent, and serves them up so good you might need a safe word. The OG, Route 66 & Side Peace were all killer burgers but the masterpiece... The Smokestack--Double, American Cheese, Beef Bacon, Fried Onions, Pickles, Rufus Teague BBQ Sauce . Twisted Fries? So addictive you'll fight your own family for them. Pull up, eat recklessly, and embrace the food coma.

Just tried Smashed yesterday in Meraux and it was on point! This new spot is slinging some of the best burgers I've had. They have so many unique flavors, something for everybody. I also like that they have curly fries. Staff were attentive, welcoming, and friendly. They have parking, lots of tables and it is bright. Very casual. The red velvet milk shake was perfect! Not overly sweet.

I called in my to go order and the person who took my order was nice. I ordered the grilled fish and shrimp which came with 2 sides. I got the green beans and side salad. I wanted Italian dressing, but they don't carry it so I settled on balsamic vinaigrette. She told me it'd probably be about 15 mins and since I live about 10 or so minutes away, I hopped in the car after I got off the phone and drove there. There were a few customers dining in but it wasn't very busy. My food was ready and sitting at the counter, so I paid and went home to eat. It was a nice sized piece of fish and a good bit of shrimp. Fish flavor was good but shrimp flavor was just okay. House salad and green beans both had pieces of bacon in them so I tried to avoid that as I ate. I believe the total was about $26 or $27. Overall it was just ok in my opinion. Some of the other items on the menu may taste better. I may try something else from them one day.

Once I heard that I knew I had to give it a try. Me and a friend decided to give it a try on a Friday night. Went in and was immediately seated, no wait time at all. the place isn't very big, so I was surprised by this. After reviewing the menu, we placed our orders for the Brewster Burger (10-ounce sirloin beef) with a loaded baked potato. I decided to try their signature drink the Boom a lache, they have a full service bar so you can order whatever you like though. My drink came out first and it was delicious, very similar to port of calls monsoon drink, and the size was huge. After a short wait the food came and we were thoroughly impressed, great burger and the loaded baked potato was just right. Can't wait to go back when I'm in the mood for a quality burger at a great price.

I wanted to like this place but it missed the mark for so many reasons…read more 1 - Ambiance: it feels like a plantation. There's also a long rope hanging on a tree outside adjacent to where some of the parking is. Not sure if St Claire owns that land but I'd probably try to get it removed... The architecture and decor on the inside only reinforce the plantation theme. 2 - Food & Drink: This is the crux of any experience and I just felt that nothing truly delivered. The beets were good but I've had so much better. The smoke flavor wasn't really as deep as I'd like. The gumbo lacks a certain savoriness to make me want to revisit it, and the meat inside just didn't quite taste as rich as I'd like. Usually that's the best part. We got the rabbit ragu as well which was good but again nothing to write home about. The strawberry hand pies were again good but nothing special. 3. Special Occasion: This may just be a pet peeve of mine but if someone makes the effort to tell you it's a special occasion maybe make the effort to make it special by offering a free dessert, drink or something? I don't know. 3. Service: not bad All in all. I wouldn't come back. The drive honestly kinda sucks. The way it's billed you'd expect something a bit more elevated in terms of experience. I'm frankly disappointed because I had been trying to make it to this restaurant for quite some time. I've been to mosquito supper club which I thought was a much superior experience.
