We initially were going to a sports bar across the street when Whiskey and Ashe caught our eye. What a great find and experience. Spoiler alert I like cigars and bourbon and Whiskey and Ashe exceeded my expectations. They have a wall of bourbon and rye plus and additional spirits and beer for non-brown liquor drinkers. since we were the only ones in the bar our bartender took excellent care of us. We had many samples and the local Louisiana Seven Three Distillery rye was one of my favorites. If you want a smoke they have a fully stocked humidor and cigar specials. There is a very comfortable outside area with TVs. We all agreed that if Whiskey and Ashe were in our area, we would live here! Since we were ride sharing we spent the afternoon here, ordered food from next door and shared it with our bartender/bourbon guide. Plus one is now a bourbon drinker (sort of) as she was introduced to a bourbon espresso martini. Wow, it was delicious.! Our bartender, Griffin, was young but so knowledgeable and he expertly guided us through our tastings. Pro tip: If Griffin your bartender tell him the folks from Austin said he needs to tell you his apple joke.

Great Muffaletta and Cubanos here!!!…read more We came in to try their legendary Muffaletta on a weekday morning. Getting there about 5 mins before they opened, there was one couple in line in front of us waiting for them to open. Once they opened, we were immediately seated. They have a nice menu loaded with all the typical NOLA favs. We opted for a half order of their Muffaletta and a Cubano as well as a side of red beans & rice. Their red beans & rice was tasty! Nice texture and flavor. The Muffaletta was really good! Loved the warm, soft, fresh bread... I believe they make it there. The meats and the olive spread were so very fresh and tasty too. The Cubano was a fav as well... made so nicely and packed with flavor too. Their Cuban bread was spot-on as well. Service was great! The venue it made to look and feel dated, as if period and it definitely looked and felt that way. Pricing was decent. Overall, definitely worth a visit!

In all fairness it was a busy night. We started with the charcuterie board featuring alligator sausage, pâté, salami, blue cheese, Irish porter cheese, smoked gouda, cornichons, tomato jam, Creole mustard, and crostini, and everything was flavorful and perfectly paired. The warm Italian Muffuletta was another highlight, loaded with ham, Genoa salami, pastrami, Swiss, provolone, and olive salad on fresh seeded Italian bread. Absolutely delicious and a must-try when visiting. To finish, we had the Chocolate Doberge Cake, which was rich, decadent, and the perfect ending to the meal. Great food, unique ambiance, and authentic New Orleans charm. Highly recommend stopping by if you're in the city.
