I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group--no more than four people--given the limited space and portion sizes, especially if you enjoy family-style dining. The short rib entrée was a 3.8/5. While flavorful, it was slightly on the drier side, and the mashed purée portion underneath was very small. The okra king salmon was amazing and paired perfectly with the vegetables. The veal sweetbreads were crispy on the outside and very buttery on the inside. Overall, the flavors of most dishes were delicious and unique. I can see why they earned a Michelin star. The pistachio cheesecake wasn't too sweet, and we enjoyed every bite. Service was outstanding--from the host to our waiter and the entire dining room staff. The food came out quickly, and our waiter was very attentive. I would definitely return for the great vibes, excellent service, and thoughtful cuisine.

Juicy chicken with peppers on ciabatta bread and fries to write home about. The pasta was in pesto that seemed freshly made and the grilled chicken thighs we added was fantastic. It has an interesting, culturally diverse menu, great ambiance, and the folks running it, we met Mike and Chris, were so sweet and lovely to talk to. They definitely put a lot of care into the food they are putting out. We got the H&S bibb salad, which was fresh, with fun pops of flavor and crunch, and not overly dressed, which I really appreciate. We then split a bowl of t seafood gumbo, which was incredible. I love a seafood forward stock for gumbo and this one had a great minerality that Mike told us came from the oyster brine he'd saved from the fresh oysters that eventually went into the gumbo. The oysters were perfectly cooked and there were ample crawfish tails and large shrimp to make this a hearty dish. We also got the crawfish spaghetti special, which was loaded up with crawfish tails, and also slices of garlic, onion, and calabrian chili oil which gave a nice spice without making the dish heavy. The drinks were fun too, get the cuba libre daiquiri if you like rum drinks! They have half priced drinks during happy hour, which goes til 6 so you can actually make it after work. How do you categorize a restaurant that offers a full menu of Mexican food, a full menu of Italian food, a full menu of local fare and American classics, AND why not throw a little Asian food in as well. Now, do all of it VERY WELL, and you have quite the conundrum when you sit down to eat. "What am I in the mood for?" Luckily, you can mix and match to your heart's desire. Garbage nachos and Thai ribs? Sure! Chicken alfredo with a couple of tamales? No prob. A good steak with a Cuban quesadilla? Why not? The possibilities are endless. Now, mix in some killer drinks, and we're talking about somewhere you'll want to bring all your friends who can't decide what they want. It's all there for them, and if they can't find something at Blue Tomato, you might want to reconsider your friends. The service staff at BT is wonderful and homey. From the moment we sat down, the staff set the tone--professional, genuinely friendly, and impressively efficient. We began with a trio of starters that showcased both richness and restraint. The foie gras torchon was silky and indulgent, perfectly complemented by fruit confiture and warm, toasted Bellegarde Bakery bread--a classic pairing done right. Marinated crab claws, dressed in a lively chili vinaigrette, delivered a bright, briny punch, while the pickled pineapple and jalapeño chips added just the right balance of sweetness and heat. A cucumber salad rounded out the starters, crisp and refreshing, acting as a welcome palate reset before the mains. For entrées, comfort and finesse shared the plate. The confit chicken thighs were meltingly tender, paired with ham-braised greens swimming in a tangy apple cider vinegar broth. A lovely Dijon cream tied everything together, adding richness without overwhelming the dish. Equally memorable was the half smoked duck, beautifully executed and deeply flavorful, served over a smooth pumpkin-sweet potato purée. The cherry bourbon glaze brought a subtle sweetness, while the pepitas added texture and a nutty finish. Dessert was the perfect exclamation point on an already wonderful meal: a slice of hot chocolate cheesecake, decadent and deeply chocolaty, crowned with toasted marshmallow fluff that leaned just enough into nostalgia without crossing into excess. Toups Meatery continues to deliver thoughtful, soulful cooking with polish and heart--comfort food elevated, served by a team that clearly knows what they're doing.
