We were given a gift certificate for this restaurant for a wedding present. We had never heard of it but decided to make a reservation and check it out. From our walk through the door until our departure, we were treated like their favorite customers. The place is beautiful inside. The food was delicious and our server was very attentive. The food is very much gourmet, a foodies delight. The owner found out we were celebrating our recent marriage and our desert came out with "Congratulations" written in chocolate on the plate. Definitely give it a try when you have the chance but do make a reservation, as it is very popular. read more

We just moved to Augusta a few months ago and this has been our best meal yet. It's simply is the most flavorful and unique. The owner greeted us at the door chatted with us at the bar while we waited for our table, and came over and talked with us often while we were seated to make sure we liked our meal. Went there for our first anniversary dinner and they did not disappoint. Everything we had was perfect! Loved the subtle but perfect taste of the crab cakes. They even bring them on two plates if you're sharing which made it even more enjoyable! We got the risotto with scallops and shrimp and the Halibut for entrees. Solid overall low-key fine dining. Classy atmosphere without being pretentious. The spinach salad was very good- with goat cheese medallions and cranberries with a vinaigrette. I also had bison ribeye with blue cheese croquette potatoes and sauteed asparagus. The steak was well cooked but needed a little more flavor from the sherry jus, the potatoes were excellent. I created a Yelp Account just to write this review... Cadwalladers was an unpleasant experience. I tried this restaurant while looking for nice fine dinning in Augusta. This restaurant is NOT fine dinning. The bread was dry and old. The menu was confusing, and went unexplained by the waiter. The lobster in the lobster bisque tasted rubbery, and microwaved. The 'Lamb Trio' was over garnished to cover-up an unappealing presentation. Mismatched favors, and poor cuts of meat made for an uneaten entree. The waitstaff was inattentive and made no inquiry into our uneaten food.... Many restaurants in the area can provide better service and food for half the price. read more

Save your money and go to Frog Hollow or Abel Browns. The prices will be cheaper, and the dining much finer. I've had better steaks at Texas Roadhouse and Longhorns, and they were 1/3rd the cost. When I order a dry aged steak, I don't expect it to be drowned in an overly salt sauce that masks the beef flavor, and I certainly don't expect it to have no marbling and tons of gristle. I have literally cooked select grade ribeyes at home that were better cuts than the beef they served here. The sides were all overly salty as well, and the only dish that I felt was even close to worth the price was the appetizer scallops. read more

This is a small and relatively quiet place to go for dinner. You feel like you are a guest, not a customer. Their chief is very creative and they are on top of their game. Love it! Obviously got the filet mignon and savored every bite. It was a big meal but I couldn't put the fork and knife down. Staff was very friendly and personal. I really like the no cell phones sign on the door. I definitely took mine (cell phone) in and snapped pictures of my breath taking food but made sure it was on silent as to not disturb the other patrons enjoying their meals. Came tonight for our 16th anniversary. Had the scallops appetizer, wife had the crab cakes and I had the petite filet. First of all, Lizzie was an awesome server, very personable and attentive. The food was very, very good. The only complaint, if I can call it that is that the crab cakes by themselves tasted a little bland but that's about it. My husband and I had dinner here and both enjoyed the food very much. The staff and owner were also very friendly. I would have given them 5 stars except that they only offered 2 red wines per glass despite bragging about their new wine list and they seemed a bit confused as to how to serve their red wines. I was served my glass in a white wine glass as was the table across from me but other tables were served red wine in red wine glasses. The Rutherford Ranch Cabernet started off nice but became very tart as I ate my meal. Perhaps more room to breathe might have helped. read more

They source much their produce locally when available so be sure to ask what vegetables they've gotten from the local area. We just happened to stumble upon this place one Friday night, trying to find a restaurant that wasn't already booked up as most nearby were. So glad that we came across it! The food was absolutely amazing(we had the swordfish, the filet mignon, and the seasonal scallops as an appetizer); the chocolate torte and pumpkin creme brûlée for desserts were incredible. Our server Aaron was very attentive, helpful, and entertaining, making our experience all the more enjoyable. Finally, Mr. Cadwalladar was ever the charming owner, checking on us every so often to make sure we had a wonderful time and greeting every guest that came through the door like an old friend. I would give this zero stars if it were an option. First, we could barely find it, no signs on the rundown, dirty pink building. Then walking in it was so dated and old. Everyone working there was very old and it made us feel kind of weird. When I say old I mean like geriatrics old and not in that sweet loving grandpa kind of way. Seated at the tiny table by a drafty window/door. No rolls were offered which surprised me. I ordered the crab cakes after reading reviews. They were barely warm and I couldn't taste any crab. Basically it was just mushy blobs that were breaded and fried. My husband got scallops and those were the only item that tasted decent. I also got a caesar salad and it was drenched in dressing and super salty. The croutons were so hard that I couldn't chew them for fear of breaking a tooth. But hey, we just care about the steak which we heard was good. We both ordered the 28 day aged rib eye. The only thing about the steak that was good was it was cooked a true medium rare. But it wouldn't matter if it was a hockey puck. First off, it was covered in so much of a salty, odd flavored sauce, we didn't even taste actual beef. Like not one bite tasted like a nice piece of steak. All we could taste was the salt which we tried to scrap off. Secondly, the meat was a terrible quality. I don't know if it was grade select or what but there was absolutely no marbling and a lot of gristle and tendons. It was chewy and tough. I couldn't even continue to eat my meat and just had her bag it up. The french fries were soggy, I held them up and they just wilted down. The broccoli was over cooked and all garlic and salt. When we got the check for the whole meal it was 157 before tip. Our TERRIBLE grisly chewy super salty ribeyes were 49 dollars A PIECE!!! I have had better quality steaks at Texas Roadhouse or the Toki Japanese place. They gave us no mints which sounds terribly petty but at this point we were so mad at throwing away this kind of money that a mint might have helped. Especially after our mouths felt assaulted by the amount of salt and garlic they used to make up for their terrible meat. If you want to go out with your significant other and are looking for a modern restaurant with good steaks look somewhere else. I am so very upset at wasting this kind of money on such terrible food. We only really go out to a nice restaurant once or twice a year if that and to know this was such a waste of money, it just kills me. Not to mention that we are in our mid 40's and felt like we were eating in a run down nursing home. read more

Tried for the first time. Service and ambiance were great, but have to agree with posts stating overpriced. I wouldn't pay an xtra 10.00 for a salad here again. We tried apps, scallops and rabbit sausage, my husband loved. My daughter ordered a special app..the heirloom tomato, grilled onion, and goat cheese tart I believe it was called, very good as well. But here is where I get weird, these Girls need steak sauce!! And they have none other than the sauce on your plate...No offense to the chef!! My daughter would have liked it for her filet and was also hoping for A1 or Heinz, it's just Us..most people probably wouldn't care. I ordered the pork chop, grilled great and the dijon mustard mashed potatoes and vegetables were very good (would've loved some Heinz 57, though!, ha).... Among the 4 of us we had the pork chop, the tuna and the New York strip x 2. Waitress suggested an appetizer platter of some cold cuts and cheese which we ordered. That was the only mistake. We were charged $95 for it! It was listed on the check as a "Masters" platter. Like a lot of things in town during Masters Week.it was extremely over priced. So, lesson learned. We just moved to the area, and were looking for a good "date night" restaurant. We're still looking. This restaurant was ok, but not great. We found the food to be a little bland. The scallops appetizer was amazing, but that was the highlight of the meal. I got the pheasant, and, while the outside was well-seasoned and flavorful, the meat was very bland. The pear potatoes (mashed potatoes shaped like a pear and panko-breaded) were also pretty dry and tasteless without the sweet sauce they pour over it. When I ran out of sauce, they needed salt & pepper at the very least. My husband got the bison steak, and also found his food dull. His potatoes were a sun-dried mashed, and he didn't care for them at all. For dessert, he got the blueberry pie. He said it was good, but not great. I got the s'more mousse which consisted of chocolate mousse (very sweet, but not much chocolate flavor), meringue (in place of the marshmallows - again, it was sweet, but that's about it), and a graham cracker crust that was VERY stuck to the bottom. I had to use my knife to pry it off. My husband got a special peach martini that he said was very good. I got a chocolate martini. They use melted chocolate ganache that, when cold, turns very hard. So, again, unless you want to pry it off the glass, it doesn't add anything. Which means, again, there was really not much chocolate flavor to speak of. The service was excellent, but that's not enough to justify the cost. We probably won't return. read more

Worse dinner that I ever had. They took my knife away after appetizer, didn't give me a fresh one. Brought my salad out and had no knife to cut my salad. Asked for mojito, they said out of mint. Asked for cabernet, he said ok then never brought me one. I overheard a lady said "we don't even have the glass for cabernet." They didn't bother to tell me that. Ordered my filet mignon, i request to have steak sauce on t he side. The lady said loudly "we don't have it" while the presentation is going. First of all, that was rude. Second, steak sauce should always be an option and not forced. This place didn't open yesterday but this is outrageous. Will not get good review from me. Then I requested to have my dessert to go. The lady brought it out on a plate. I was sitting there with my hands folded and pissed off. The guy came back after 10 min and grabbed it and said he'll make it to go for me. In my head, i was thinking "really?" I'm not going back to this Restaurant. Will not take my colleagues here again. All of us at the table agreed the food was bad. Made a reservation online that went smooth and got a confirmation right away. This place was recommended by several people but they said it has been a while since they were there. I was taking a friend to a birthday dinner thought it was some place"special" . Arrived 5 minutes early was told it would be just a few minutes . 2/3 of the tables were empty went to the bar had a drink waited 25 mins finished our drink and left no one came to tell us there was a delay. We could not be seated at any on the tables? Why make a reservation ? Was expecting more. Not a good experience ! read more

I have lived in Augusta my whole life and never knew this place existed. I ate there this evening and I am grateful I did. We called and made reservations for 730. Upon arriving we were greeted and shown to our table within a minute. The menu was simple (which in my opinion is always best) and the environment was relaxing and classic. Unfortunately our server did not have the specials committed to memory, however this is a small point. We ordered two appetizers, the crab cakes and the cheese sampler platter. They arrived within ten minutes of ordering. They were fresh and tasted good. The cheese sampler came with three cheeses and crackers to be paired with pickles, grapes, or honey. I thought that was an excellent platter. The crab cakes were cooked perfectly and contained a great deal of crab meat, the greens on the plate however were not cut at all and I found that distracting. They did taste incredibly fresh however. We ordered for our entree the pork chop and the yellowfin tuna. I just want to state at this point that everything we ate was executed perfectly as far as technique is concerned. The meats were cooked properly, the sauces the right consistency, the veg was not over done ( something that happens a great deal in cooking in the south.) the wait time from apps to entree was around 15 minutes and you could tell that the kitchen actually paces the orders so that the entree comes up after you are done with your appetizer. That is something most corporate places care nothing about and they will allow your food to sit in a hot bar until you are ready for it. The only thing I question about my entree is why was the garlic in the spinach not cut or minced? I don't know many people who enjoy a full piece of garlic. Since the meal and service had gone this well so far I asked what were the possible desserts. We ordered the lemon tart and the peach cobbler. (I call it cobbler, but it was a modified version and I cannot remember the term used.) They were fantastic! You could tell that every part was made in house and not shipped in and microwaved like most restaurants. The total for two apps, two entrees, and two desserts was 110, which is very reasonable for the quality. The staff worked professionally with each other and we're past the false doctrine of "if it isn't my table it isn't my job." I will be returning, a lot. read more

First and last time to visit. The service was good a little slow staring given wine list and asked for chose of wine before given the menu. We ordered the special 60 day aged bone in ribeye steak. Starting with a Caesar salad. The salad was so spicy hot I could not eat. Did not have the traditional Caesar's dressing it tasted as if it had hot sauce in the dressing. First time I have ever sent anything back. They did send out a spinach salad that was quite tasty with goat cheese The goat cheese was breaded and deep-fried in two patties on the side a healthy food deep-fried. Would have been better crumbled and serve on top. The aged steak from New York was cooked perfectly I cannot say the same for the mashed potatoes and asparagus. The asparagus was beginning to seed The chef was trying to be creative with the mashed potatoes adding mustard and mustard seeds when using mustard and mustard seed a little goes a long way this overpowered the whole dish and really I could not even eat the mashed potatoes nor could my husband. The bread was hard and cold. The butter was not real. A butter spread of some sort ?? When we were waiting on our check a table across from us was served a fish dish. It smelled so bad my husband had to get up and leave. My rule of thumb about fish is if you can smell it don't eat it !!!!!
