Comfy space for working, I was here for about 90 minutes this afternoon. I had a table with power outlets where I could use their wifi and drink coffee while pounding away at the keyboard. They do have background music so I'm thinking this isn't a great spot for your Zoom calls. A few others were here before I arrived and were still present when I departed. It's clearly a spot for hanging out. I think the seating area is also the coffee shop for the church but on a Monday afternoon, they weren't holding any church services. COFFEE SHOP REVIEW: Cadence Coffee Co. (7th street, downtown chatt) Went to a new place today and I picked it mostly because the pics I could find included a fair amount of comfy seating. I was a little annoyed to see Christian buzz words painted around the room. I like words but I don't find them decorative and dislike them as a design choice. And Christian buzz words as decoration are exactly as valuable to the world as Christian t-shirts. The space is clean, bright, and the seating is very good. It's a relatively large space for a downtown establishment. Further evidence that there are backers (and intentions) beyond selling coffee for money. While waiting for my coffee, I went to use the restroom and was disappointed to see individual restrooms gendered into male and female. And worse yet, they are locked and you must ask for a key. Which means that a trans person would have to come and ask for a key and the barista has to either guess their gender or ask. An awkward situation for both, imo. I sat on a comfy leather couch and began to enjoy my latte and coffee cake and they were simply outstanding! I couldn't have been happier with the food and drink situation. Bland contemporary Christian music played over the speakers and I realized I forgot my headphones. And then to make matters worse, they have a piano in one of their seating areas. It is clearly marked with a charmingly snarky sign (see image) discouraging "just anyone" from sitting down and playing. Unfortunately, this did not stop one young man from sitting down and playing yet another bland Christian song over the recorded one. He wasn't good, and he only sort of knew the song. I had resigned myself to leaving as soon as my coffee cake was gone. But mercifully, the pianist stopped after five minutes or so. I should mention that this is the kind of place that seems to do its best to welcome and be kind to homeless or mentally ill people. This is to be lauded, in my opinion. Especially if you decorate your coffee shop with "Honor", "Generosity", and "Risk" and you're located in the middle of an urban downtown. TL;DR Coffee-- OUTSTANDING Food-- OUTSTANDING Space/decor-- GOOD Music-- BAD Vibe-- WELCOMING Odds of sitting near a Bible study-- HIGH Points for respect to the poor, lost points for gendered bathrooms, lost points for the terrible idea of a piano in a coffee shop. read more

After running a little behind because of traffic, my original stop had closed. I searched for the nearest coffee ship and Cadence came up. I walked a short way around the corner and in the door. Parking, while on the street, was easy to find (less than $1). The young lady working was so kind to greet me and find out what my coffee preferences were before making a suggestion. I noticed they had a "pay it forward" card but didn't think much of it. After grabbing my coffee and taking a seat, a man came through the door. The young lady greeted him by name and asked how his day was. He replied to her question and stated that he had lost his courtesy card. She very warmly told him that was okay and she was happy to refill his drink. Complete kindness and full of dignity that all people deserve. Honestly, I was moved by this. It made an impression and when in town I will continue to support them!. read more

Another one of my favorite little spots in Chattanooga. Their chai tea is very good and it goes great with a coffee cake. Cadence has also taken proper COVID precautions by adding plexiglass and sanitizer at the cash register. There's also outdoor seating and room on the other side of the shop for additional distancing. LOVE If you've read any of my other Yelp reviews, you'll notice a pattern. I. LOVE. LOCAL. COFFEE. SHOPS. It's my thing, and you might say I'm a bit of a connoisseur of a good cup of Joe. This place is great because not only is the coffee good, but I love the vibe! I went during the holidays in the afternoon, so the crowds may be totally different at other times of year. I was meeting a group of friends, and we were able to take over a large couch space in the corner that fit all 6 of us! There was also a piano across the way. Music + coffee ... heck yes! There were large tables in the middle of the room, and at one point, a group came in and played some board games. It seems like a very chill atmosphere. Parking is not super fun. You do have to park along the street with a meter or find a paid lot nearby. If you're prepared for that, it's a great experience! Note: the city of Chattanooga has a parking app you can use to easily pay and reload your meter. Nice thing to have when you're exploring downtown in general. BEST CHAI LATTE TEA in town! How can I say that? Because me and my hubby did our own experiment we called operation "Chai Crawl". We went to almost every coffee/tea place in town and tried their Chai tea and none of them was as good. There were a couple of good places but Cadence is GREAT!! From what we learned it's in their process they steam the milk with the tea and it really enhances the flavor and creaminess. We actually get ours with almond milk and it is creamy. WHAT!?!?! Their blend is also perfect in it's harmony of flavors without one overpowering the other. Oh did I mention the staff?? They are always helpful and friendly. What more could you want. I seldom go into this establishment (even though I pass it almost everyday on my way to work) because they cater to a crowd that I am not part of and that is "People who have money to burn" Don't get me wrong they are there to make money and I understand that but $10 for a Iced Mocha and a parfait is ridiculous in my opinion. The parfait was very good but not nearly worth $4 and the coffee was fair, not the best I have ever had but not the worst either. I don't know who is directing the marketing at Cadence Coffee, but they deserve a raise. I've heard SO much about this place. I mean ALOT! It finally got me here and inevitably contributed to my dissatisfaction. Cadence is appropriately a little, well...off beat. It has all of the right decorative features. There are vintage bicycles and their parts. There are displays of dangling coffee mugs and a few vinyl "LP" records. There is a nice little mix of quaint seating areas. The service is very good. There is a reservable space for groups and revolving HDTV images stolen from someone's Pinterest "saves". There are NOT enough electrical outlets, a pet peeve of mine, but there are some when you don't have to compete with other guests for them. It's on the 7th and Cherry intersection of town, an "up and coming" retail district. Frankly, it's a good spot for friends and coffee of the scenic city. Really! I guess I'm just setting you straight. I'm calibrating all of the "buzz". I'm keeping it, literally, down low. That way your visit will be much more satisfying than mine.
