I just spent one hour speaking to 3 people about a cable box which stopped working , I was disconnected and when I called back the person who answered my call was CLUELESS. He couldn't review my previous call record and proceeded to tell me my account balance which was paid 3 days ago!!! THIS IS UNACCEPTABLE! Very mixed on how to rate this company. We re-signed up for cablevision some years back. We let them take the phone service and as a result we had no phone for 2 weeks. - Not Good. EVERY YEAR Cablevision raises rate - in out case at least it was far above the inflation rate. - Not Good. You have to spend hours on phone with their "disconnect" team to try to get prices in line... instead of paying more for ongoing less service. - Not Good. Although we only had rare outages after the beginning, when another carrier offered support in out area, we jumped over to them. 1.5Hr on the phone with Cablevision JUST TO DISCONNECT, listening to HANG ON TO YOU offers and you MUST HOLD ON TO COMPLETE disconnect. - Not Good. I rate them one star - not for the technology, but for the company and it's aggressive billing and other tactics to squeeze every last cent. read more

Hard to get a human. Have triple play and pay $300/mo Pixilation on phone and tv, Lose voice calls and tv unwatchable. Many calls to service from cell phone. Robots tell you what to do with rebooting etc. Had nothing to do with the problem since the problem stems from a weak signal originating in their distribution center. Finally get human who has no clue. I think company taken over by a Dutch company who wants you to upgrade y to Altace. Everyone I have spoken with who did this switched back to the old Optimum. Arrogant incompetent company . Unfortunately alternatives in this area are flawed as well. . read more

Had to go to a coffee shop to get internet. The service is horrible and the cable company just does not care.

The abolute worst. The internet service is awful, the customer service is even worse. I am currently trying to get a supervisor and the agent is refusing to get me the help I need. Stay away from Optimum!!! read more

came home on 4/20 to no internet, no tv, no Wi-Fi. called and was told its the cable boxes and they will send someone out on monday 4/22, to replace the boxes. tech came out and said it wasn't the boxes, its the cable. tech came out on the 4/24 and replaced the underground cable. still doesn't work. tech came out on 5/3 and decided we need fiber. came out again on 5/4 and still couldn't figure out why there was no service coming into the house but someone would come 5/6. no one came. tech came 5/7 to determine if there is a line to pull the fiber optics thru. there is not. i called last night to find out where we stand and a date for when the issue will be resolved, and got hung up on 2 times. they are idiots. they kept telling me the only way to get my service back is to delete the fiber optics order. NO!!! that wont help, we didn't have service before the fiber optics order was placed. so when is someone coming to install the fiber optics? May 21?!!!!!! are you F'n kidding me????? another 2 weeks? we're paying over $200 for no service? No WI-FI, no phone, no internet and no TV???? WTF?! i was on the phone with the fiber optics dept telling them they need to come sooner than 2 more weeks, and the guy hing up on me. LOL! Two days we had an appointments to have our TV & internet service hooked up. Two days gone....both days Tech was a no show, no call, nothing. Trying to get a human being on the phone is next to impossible. Insane pricing for lousy service and lots of pain and aggravation not even close to being worth the price. Go another route. read more

We signed up with Optimum/Altice on 9/17/20, the installation was done on the first week of October but we did not move to the house and used the TV until Nov 15, 2020 in which we found out that 2 out of the 3 cable boxes would only work after rebooting it, every time you turn the cable off the cable box would not work again the next time you turn it on. The other cable box just wouldn't work at all it kept on telling us to call service which we did multiple times. It would work for about an hour and then die off again and would say to call service again. On Nov 25 I have had enough so we took the cable box tho the store to have it exchanged for a working one but the lady in the store said that she could not guarantee that the replacement box she will give would work without any glitches, She recommended that we upgrade our rented set top box to an Apple TV with Altice. It costs $10 more she said and we agreed. After another week of unstable TV and internet, we decided to cut optimum and move to Verizon. I asked my son to return the equipment to the store on Dec 23, 2020 and they acknowledged it with a receipt except they said that they would not accept the apple TV and would just bill us $180 for it, on top of that they did not agree to cut our service until January 6, 2021. They treated my son horribly for cutting our service with them and forced us to pay for services that we did not use. We do not have any use for the appleTV because all our TVs are smart TVs with apple play built in. They are also forcing us to pay for service that we did not use. read more

I have nothing against the customer service department - they are great. You certainly can get them on the phone and they act quickly. But I'm getting tired of all the inconsistency with cable. It's just not reliable. I'm always rebooting the box and the modem is a disaster - it goes out almost every day. Years ago I had DirecTV and the only time I had an issue was during an epic blizzard or thunderstorm when I might lose signal. Cable TV just doesn't work. It's not cool. Listen to Rob Lowe ... IIs there anyone @ Cablevision who can tell the truth? Do they get paid by the telephone calls they answer! They give you an answer, not caring if it is factual or not to get you off the phone Then when you call back they tell you there is no record of your telephone call on their screen. We luckily had power and cable all through the night. This morning the cable went out at 11:00 am. Three times today I was told different stories and times it would come back on. The women this morning insisted after getting my zip code we were in lower Westchester. I was just on hold for 90 minutes and the women kept talking about Long Island! The reason the cable has not been restored in northern Westchester is their customer service keeps sending repairs to the wrong areas! No supervisor called back as their reps promised. NO one at cable can give a reason why our cable was cut 12 hours after the storm passed! No one can tell us when it will be restored! Con-Ed, Verizon & FIOS never stopped working. Will be saying good bye to Cable & hello to FIOS. There is no honesty or customer service at Optimum! read more

If there was a way to give all negative star ratings, that would be what they deserve. The customer service for this company is total garbage! We've been customers for over 20 years and the last few years they have really gone down hill fast. They seem to have a formula used by all the associates. First, the wait time to speak to an associate. It's usually no less than 45 minutes. Then, when you finally get through it seems like they pick out of a hat the same 3 lies to tell you about what's going on with the service issues. They never make any notes on your account for the next person to review. I must have called 5 days straight and each time had to explain the same issue to at least 10 different associates because, as it turns out, it's always someone in another department that will be able to help you, and not them. Other times when they have no clue what they're doing and can't be bothered to help, they simply disconnect the call. I can't wait for the day this company goes out of business! Honestly it has run its course. We use them for internet only now and have already put a call in to Fios. Not sure how much better they will be, but am hoping they're not worse. Cable TV and phone are dead, but consumers need more of a selection for internet. read more
