This is one of the best steakhouses I have ever dined in. Their signature ribeye steak is tender and juicy with an extremely flavorful crust on the outside and served sliced up (large portions perfect for sharing). We also ordered sides of mashed potatoes, Brussels sprouts, asparagus, and mushrooms and onions. All the sides were very good as well. The ribeye steak however was the highlight of the meal. I cannot speak to the quality or taste of any other dishes but this ribeye is worth coming in for. The restaurant itself is reminiscent of an old fashioned steakhouse bringing you back to the 1960's for a nice dinner, perfect ambience for a date night, celebration, or business dinner. I would highly recommend Cabernet. read more

Nice restaurant good seating and ambiance. My wife had the filet which she enjoyed. Potato gratin was good. I had a Caesar salad which was good but very small. I also had the flagship 27oz bone in ribeye. The steak was good but not great. Didn't quite live up to the hype for me. Service was satisfactory but slightly below par for this price point. Overall I'd recommend it for a nice night out because it does have a nice atmosphere. Better than Ruth's Criss but there are even better options available read more

Visited here for my cousin's birthday celebration. We had the $80 set menu (which is a great deal, in my opinion). The appetizer were delicious! I would give them 9/10. The dessert (cheesecake) was sooo good 10/10. The bread wasn't that good 7/10. The steak was exquisite!! Drinks were STRONG! 10/10. Both of our waitresses were awesome! Customer Service arriving until we left was 10/10. Ambiance was beautiful, yet simple. Clean bathrooms also, 10/10. I would recommend this place for any occasion. They also had a young lady singing live near the bar area, which I thought was cool. Also, valet is complementary. Try it out whenever you're in the area :) read more

This place had wonderful ambiance for a business meal. The noise level is 3 out of 10. The service was absolutely perfect. The restaurant is a very classic steak house with trained servers, the steak lives up to the hype. I recommend the soup of the day and salad. The old fashions are on point. Do not skip the bar classics. read more

Excellent birthday dinner out with my son and wife a few weeks ago. Love the decor, the staff has always been really good here and I find the value to be above average. The menu has a little bit for everyone so you can bring a bunch of different taste and everyone will be happy. My son had a Ny Strip as did I. Both cooked perfectly and as ordered. My wife's meal was prepared right on the money as well. Cabernet has been around for some time, you can't go wrong here. Highly recommended and we will be back. read more

First time to this delicious staple in Alpharetta. Food was DELICIOUS! We started with stone crabs, fried lobster tails, shrimp, crab cakes! WOW... (we are big fans of 'starters")... each item cooked to perfection, served up with perfect sauces, including the honey mustard sauce that is better than JOES with the stone crabs, For our main course, Hubby got the Prime Rib, I got the Petite Filet. So good... and perfect! Ambience is nice.. it was crowded... make a rez... The Bar is nice, but it's smoking..so we went straight to the table Highly recommend this place, and I'll be back read more

I was sooooooo looking forward to dining here. My family took me here to celebrate new job. I ordered A LOT! Just me being greedy. For appetizers I ordered the lamb with mint jelly with shallot straws. Phenomenal! So good. Also had the beef satay. Ehhh. A little overcooked and underwhelming. My daughter ordered the sashimi - that was good too. For dinner I had the rack of lamb and a filet. Told y'all I was being greedy. Ordered the filet medium rare...... came medium. And really didn't taste good. Had no flavor or taste. The lamb came with mashed potatoes and green beans. Potatoes were very salty. Also nothing was hot. Lukewarm warm at best. Also came rare. Mom ordered the lamb also - well done. Came medium. She got a baked potato that she didn't finish which is not her norm. Don't think it was hot. Daughter and SIL ordered the Rock Salt Ribeye. They ordered medium-rare it came rare, but was do flavorful! I had to sneak a taste. Way better than my filet. Dessert was chocolate cake - could be skipped. Soda and sweet tea wasn't really good. I know that makes no sense but a flat and watery Coke and watery sweet tea is not fun. Service from the person who fills your water was definitely on point. Always there. Our waitress....... not so much. Will I return. Only for the Rock Salt Ribeye and Lamb. I passed another steak place on the way and will probably try that place next. Oh... if you are a cigar aficionado they have a smoking lounge type area for those who want to smoke and eat and listen to a musician. Very nice. Attire: I did not see a true dress code. I 100% recommend Cabernet! My hubby made reservations for my birthday and we loved everything! I got the miso glazed grouper, hubs got the Cabernet ribeye, and we shared the peanut butter chocolate cake for dessert. The food was immaculate! The service was wonderful and the atmosphere was very cozy. Our dessert was good but I would definitely recommend the bananas fosters as it was such a cool presentation. (The table beside us got it and I was super jealous LOL) read more

Went to the restaurant for Mother's Day Brunch was seated in a banquet room with plastic tables and chairs... restaurant should have told us we were getting the worst seats in the restaurant. Plus the staff started talking food away before we could get dessert.. as we walked out we saw the staff had to go boxes of the dessert we didn't get. I told the manager we didn't approve of the table and he did nothing.. don't come by and apologize.. probably take my business clients to other restaurants that want my business.. read more

Very Disappointing. Despite the good reviews, this was a terrible experience. Service started out fine, and then it was terrible. Empty plates and glasses left on the table for long periods of time. Other patrons we looking around wondering if anyone was going to do something. People were clearly frustrated. I was never able to get a second dink despite being there almost 2 hours. Steaks were both cooked wrong. Medium was medium rare, and medium well was rare. It was almost 25 minutes before someone came by and asked about our meal. So no chance to get things corrected. The lobster was way too salty. Almost inedible. Shrimp with the appetizer were served cold. Things were poorly run the evening we were there. We like eating at Nice Steak Houses and typically have great experiences. This was not worth our money or time. There are too many better options in the area. read more

I visited this location for a work happy hour which was in a section of the restaurant, so i did not get to see the whole place. From what I saw it was nice and the service was great. We had the waiters and waitresses keeping the food and drinks coming and also taking way the plates we were done with. It seems like they have valet parking as an option here otherwise you can self park. The restaurant is in front of a hotel and it seems like some of the parking spots are shared between the two. There were a lot of people that seemed to have gotten off work that were dining there that weekday evening. It has somewhat of a romantic vibe to it with the lighting on the dim side. The best thing is that the highway is right after the restaurant, so when you leave and you are hoping on 400 south, all you have to do is just make a right when leaving the restaurant and another right and you are on the highway. read more

I went there for my wedding anniversary , I took my wife there for the ribeye for two , I had it a few times and loved it. When we got there and I tried to order it, I was told that lunch is a limited menu, highly disappointing. Getting past that we order the sampler for appetizer , the porterhouse steak with asparagus , and a potato dish that was highly recommended. The crab crake was the best part of the meal. The steak was flavorless , I could've sworn they did not put any seasoning at all , they just grilled it. the asparagus was OK , and the potato side was mediocre at best. My wife and I were laughing at because it was just slice potatoes on top of each other, covered in cheese and made to look fancy. We definitely felt the atmosphere was great, but the food was way over priced would've been better at Texas roadhouse for 1/2 the price. It was a a quiet place to enjoy a romantic time , but that's was the best part, the rest wasn't anything to write home about. I could have made it all better at home. read more

Let's get into it...The Cabernet in Alpharetta is right off the highway exit and is relatively easy to find. Cabernet offers free valet parking but has additional space in the back of the building that is adjacent to a hotel if you prefer to park yourself. I've been here a couple of times, and it has always been top-tier when it comes to just really no frills steak. When you walk into the building immediately to your left, you will be greeted by the host/hostess who is fairly quick with acknowledgment and seating. There is also a separate sectioned off lounge area off from the dining area that patrons can see but not smell or hear that offers live music and cigar smoking (my personal favorite reason to visit. In addition, they also have an impressive wine menu to pair along with those selected cuts of meat I spoke of and even boast an inclusive start to finish entree menu that changes frequently throughout the month. Our server Robert was great and helped us make our selections throughout the evening, which was spot on as always. The Cabernet, for me, ensures a 3 for 1 evening. Great food, good wine, and mature light entertainment in a relaxed business casual atmosphere. read more

We've only been here a couple of times but have always really enjoyed it. The food is great, service is good, and the ambience is classy. We came with a group this time so the food took a while to come out but I completely understand. My salmon was impeccable! They do have a yummy gluten free chocolate torte. Fastest collapse of a decent restaurant I've ever seen. The quality of the food was awful, particularly the steaks. Service was good but that can't make up for the terrible ribeye and filet that was served. I was shocked and embarrassed for the guests I had brought. Sad,because six months ago it was wonderful. It was 70% full on a Saturday at 7.00pm and that should never happen. The quality of the meat was disappointing. read more

The room I rented for a business luncheon was not ready, was dirty and the 3 courses took an awfully long time to serve. Over a 1/3 of my attendees left before desert was served. Had an issue with the bill and the lead waiter was indignant, rude and had to get the mgr involved. She was helpful. read more

Our strategy on New Year's Eve is simple - get dinner, get it early, and get home and stay out of the way of Amateur night.....This year, as we didn't want to venture too far, we went to Cabernet. I would call this 4.2 stars, as it's better than 4 stars, but this will do - - Sitting on Windward Parkway, location is key as you can get a quality upscale ish experience and you don't have to go too far. The price point was much different than higher quality peers in the past, (say 30% less), but they have narrowed that to about 10-15% less.... - It's a nice spot - they take care of it, it's fancy but not formal. There is valet - though I don't know why as it sits right in the regular parking lot....but no problem there - nice touch if you just want to pull up. - Staff - Really well trained. You are greeted properly, don't have to wait too long for reservation (within a few minutes) and walked to your table - Our service team was Chad and his partner - they were outstanding. Funny, nice, personable and good recommendations. Food - The food is quite good. A couple small misses, but overall, they deserve their place in the ranks of the "really good". There are a few steak places in Atlanta - that are legendary and no-one would argue that - I don't think Cabernet needs to be in that category - it's hard, and needs to be earned over years - but it is at the top of that next bunch. Steaks - the high point - this is why you come here - and they taste really good. Cooked perfectly, well seasoned, not overly so, hot, buttery and a good selection. We come here for the steak. Lobster (on the side) - broiled, well prepared. Appetizers - really good. Oysters Rockefeller which were tasty, warm and big, and then beef carpaccio - which was well prepared and well seasoned. One nit - do better on the toast - they were a few pieces of white toast, cold, crumbly and really did the beef a disservice. That is an easy fix We wanted oysters but they did not have saltines (you think they would send a runner over to Publix really quick... Salads - I appreciate they are able to do half portions.....but they were really good - no qualms there. Sides - mashed potatoes were really nice - simple, butter, salt, I love that - no fancy truffle anything..... Brussel Sprouts with Bacon and Thai Chili - man- we were excited for them - but they were terrible. Just cut in half, hard and dense. There was no amount of bacon or sweet sauce that were going to make these better- shave them, shred them, crisp them, do something....big miss Desert was eh - a chocolate ganache cake that was dry instead of decadent. Ice cream was OK I really did appreciate their drink service - great cocktails - the bar is awesome.....great - well thought out - wine list - AND - they have a nice feature where they partner with some really good wineries to have some bottles that are high quality and well priced - bravo there. If you get a chance- go in the bar it's a cigar bar with a ventilation system that must cost a zillion dollars because it's not so bad.....fun nightclub feel, great crowd, everyone having a good time. Overall, really happy for this place - well done and thank you for the good evening. If they focus on the small nits, it will be even better.... read more

We had our group lunch here yesterday. The restaurant is beautiful inside and initially two waiters introduced themselves and said they would be our servers. After we placed our purser they became impossible to find for drink refills or problems with the food. One coworker ordered a steak well done. It came out rare. I had a burger which was served with no condiments, it was also very dry and served with McDonald's type fries. We kept looking around for someone to address those issues. Eventually we caught our waiters attention and I was brought my condiments. My friend told them he ordered week and received rare. We fully expected a new meal to be brought to him however they brought back the same plate they must have just microwaved the steak - but they removed the side from the plate. I've never had an experience like that at what appeared to be a high end restaurant. read more

Good dinner here with my husband. Staff was friendly. Restaurant has a cigar bar attached to it. The bar is enclosed but you can still smell smoke when you walk in. Unfortunately the candle they had burning by host stand doesn't disguise the smoke. Food had hits and misses. I ordered the grouper and a Cabernet salad. Not bad not great. Little too salty and fish a bit dry. My husband on the other hand loved his steak! The bread basket was delicious! read more

Nice menu. Comfortable seating. Great for a business dinner or upscale family dining. Very attentive service. Valet parking. We had the 16 oz rib eyes. Cooked to perfection. Beautiful caramelization. Dress nice people, Cabernet is an upscale restaurant. I believe there's ample parking in the back but I chose to valet my vehicle (complimentary, so don't forget to tip!. Came here for a surprise birthday party for my friend so it was a large group of us and we were assigned two waiters. Who btw we're great in recommending menu items & cocktails. We were fortunate enough to dine here when they were featuring a 3 course menu. So to start out I partook in a pre-dinner cocktail which was a paradise martini ($5) it was good but sweet. For the appetizer I had the lamb meatballs on a pita with taziki dipping sauce, they were great and it was just enough to hold is over for the main course. Entree was a bone in filet and a piece of grilled salmon! It came with a side of succotash. Super hungry or greedy not sure, the birthday girl & I decided to split a side of creamy mashed potatoes. Thank goodness we did because the name describes it all, they were delicious! Full of flavor and fluffy. The fillet was cooked perfectly and had great seasoning as did the salmon. By dessert I was so full I asked the waiter to package it, but it was a berry cheesecake which was great as well. I asked the girl sitting next to how her meal was as the waiter was taking her plate away (she had triple cut lamb chops) and she literally sent me home with her leftovers. So I can officially say the lamb is great as well. *Fun fact on Wednesdays (we wear pink) also they have live music in the lounge & $10 cigars & cognac (or something Brown). Our executive committee met here for dinner for the first time. This was my first time dining here as well. Staff was very pleasant and we began with drinks at the bar. Very nice bartender and drinks were good. We were seated as a group and the server was extremely helpful with the menu and very attentive. The food however was just average. I was hoping to have a great steak being that Cabernet is a higher end steakhouse. But the steak was average at best and lacked flavor. Two of my colleagues ordered porterhouse for two to share and they said the same thing. It was just blah! Side dishes were good though. And the wine of course was the best part of the meal. :) we ended the evening at the bar and I topped the night off with a good Old Fashioned. So, my recommendation is to stay at the bar and perhaps try a burger or come for happy hour. read more

We were graciously greeted by the valet parking attendant. Our small party didn't have reservations but we were kindly accommodated. The wine selection was great. It paired perfect with our Filet and potato gratin. The steak was perfectly cooked to medium rare. The chocolate mousse cake was our favorite dessert. Our waiter was extremely nice and helpful. He made great recommendations. I'd highly recommend this place! read more

Meet the Manager: Richard H.

Richard Holley, a native of New York, apprenticed under Gilbert Le Coze and Eric Ripert at Le Bernardin, New York's internationally acclaimed four star seafood restaurant and the sister restaurant of Atlanta's Brasserie Le Coze. Chef Holley was selected to open the Coconut Grove location of Brasserie Le Coze in Miami, Florida and then moved to Atlanta to assist with the opening of the second location at Lenox Square in 1994. Holley's talents were quickly recognized and Pano Karatassos of Buckhead Life Restaurant Group courted him to steer the course at Chops and open The Lobster Bar. During Holley's tenure as executive chef at Chops, the restaurant was consistently rated as one of the top steakhouses in the United States. In 2000 Chef Holley opened Cabernet Steakhouse and had been at the helm of the restaurant since then. His innovative style combined with his seafood expertice give the Cabernet menu a unique steakhouse feel.

We had reservations but arrived a little early and had to wait about 5-10 minutes to be seated - not a huge deal for a busy Saturday night. Once we got to our table, we had an amazing experience. The table was sprinkled with rose petals and a card wishing us a Happy Anniversary. Our server, Tony, came promptly to take our order and noted our food allergies and restrictions. Our first course was the seafood tower, which I was able to customize with more shrimp since I'm allergic to oysters. Second, we had the lobster bisque and the burrata & beet salad. Both were divine! For the main course, I had the scallops while my husband had the filet medallions Oscar style, which comes with asparagus. We also ordered two additional sides for sharing - the crab fried rice and truffle mac. You honestly can't go wrong with either dish! We loved our meal but my husband wasn't crazy about the steak. Everyone--from the hosts to the servers to the kitchen staff--seemed to be moving at a pace slower than molasses. It certainly wasn't the energetic brunch atmosphere I remembered. Our server, was particularly disappointing. Despite arriving early, we waited over 30 minutes for our food while multiple tables seated after us (with different servers) were already eating. We repeatedly had to ask for water refills, chip refills, and basic service needs. Whenever we needed him, he seemed to have vanished like the last tortilla chip in the basket. The service issues continued throughout the meal. We requested to-go boxes and were handed a stack of five-plus containers, but no bag. After waiting, I eventually had to track down another server myself to get one. At that point, it felt like I had been promoted from customer to assistant waiter. The most frustrating moment came at the end of the meal. Before we had even requested the check and while I was actively packing leftovers into my to-go containers, Blake seemed overly eager to clear the table. In the process, my to-go containers were knocked to the ground, and my phone ended up falling and cracking. I would not recommend the huevos rancheros. I recently dined at Cabernet Steakhouse and had a rather unsettling experience with their valet service. While the dining experience itself was pleasant, what happened with the valet left me deeply concerned. Upon arriving at the restaurant, I opted to use their complimentary valet service, which is usually convenient and hassle-free. However, this time, things took an unexpected turn. When I returned to collect my car, I was shocked to find that my apartment key fob and house keys were missing from my keychain. When I inquired about my missing keys and key fob, the valet employee appeared disingenuous and initially claimed ignorance about their whereabouts. This raised some immediate red flags. Feeling uneasy about the situation, I had no choice but to involve the local police to at least begin the process of filing an incident report. What happened next is where things became even more perplexing. While the police were questioning the valet employee, a black car pulled up to the restaurant, and a man with black hair walked over to the valet to hand him my missing keys. The timing of this return and the seemingly insincere apology left me deeply concerned that the disappearance of my house keys was not a mere mistake. I understand that mistakes can happen, but the circumstances surrounding this incident are undeniably suspicious. I'm writing this review not to tarnish the reputation of Cabernet Steakhouse but to urge the restaurant's management to conduct a thorough investigation into the valet service they employ. The safety and security of their patrons' property should be of utmost importance. I hope that the restaurant takes this matter seriously and reviews its relationship with the valet company to ensure such incidents do not happen again. In the meantime, I would advise other patrons to be cautious when using the valet service and consider alternatives until this issue is addressed. First, we got the feeling the server was over eager to sell us a bottle of wine. My partner doesn't drink, so he opted for water and I opted for a half bottle. It was a bit pushy, but we payed it no mind. Once brought out and poured, I moved the bottle further as to not accidentally knock it over and I guess by habit closed the bottle, then proceeded to the salad bar. The server came to find me in line to ask why I've moved the bottle, then proceeded to tell me that the wine needs to breathe so he'll re-open the bottle. Personally didn't need a lecture on how wine needs to breathe, I'm well aware, nor do I find it appropriate to chase me down in line over it, but okay I let it go as well and thanked him for his help. Everything else was great, until the check came. I guess there was an issue with the card we used and different server very discretely brought it to our attention. Of course we're embarrassed, but grateful for the discreetness. Mind you, we've been here many times and have never had any issues before, just inadvertently gave an old card. I grabbed my purse to provide a different card and the initial server decided to comment loudly to my partner something about where'd you get lucky enough to find her as if to say women don't pay. I was shocked and mortified! At that point I simply replied that it all comes out of the same accounts anyway, just a different name on the card. The comment was well beyond inappropriate, brought attention unnecessarily, and was absolutely unwarranted. At least we've been together for more than a decade, I can't even imagine if this was someone's first date! We didn't need to offer an explanation, but at that point we just wanted to be done and get out as quickly as possible. We'll likely dine here again, but definitely hope we never come across this particular server again.

Our server Nichol was absolutely fabulous and made sure we had a great time every step of the way. For the dishes we tried: -Calamari has a nice dry heat to it and was very flavorful, but could've benefited from a sauce to help balance out the spice. -Tuna poke was to die for, super flavorful and very high quality fish. -Beef carpaccio was also fantastic, loved all the topping and the meat was perfectly seasoned and sliced -The lobster risotto was nice and creamy without being overbearingly rich. I didn't personally care for the lobster too much here so I might skip that one next time. Will definitely come back to try more dishes next time!
