I have been a Cabela's shopper online for years, but this location will never see me darken their doors again. I went to the gun counter to see if they had a limited edition Henry's rifle in stock. Although they had a reasonable selection, they did not have the specific item I wanted. When I asked if they would get me one, they never did tell me yes. All they wanted to talk about was how maybe they couldn't get it. I asked for a supervisor and got virtually the same no-answer. I asked them if they wanted to sell a rifle. Didn't ever get a yes. I went to the customer service counter and asked to see a manager. They brought me the same "Supervisor" I had already talked to and he gave me the same runaround. Only as I was walking out the door did he finally asked if I wanted to order one. Really, what did he think? I can only assume they didn't want to special order from Henry's, orthey don't have a good relationship with Henry's and can't get special editions, or they wanted to see me something they had in stock. I know what I want and I wasn't interested in being sold what they wanted me to have. Oh, BTW, I went into a gun shop in Reno and asked the same question. They asked me when I wanted it and told they would get it for me. Black and white. Negative attitude vs a Positive attitude. I will be buying my Henry's Rifle at the second location. I would not recommend doing business with Cabela's. read more

Cabela's Hmmmm you know even though this place has high ceilings [ ever notice when you are watching house hunters and the folks buying go on and on about tall ceilings, well folks walls are tall ceilings are high] but back to Cabela's. Even though the ceilings are high the place feels very oppressive to me, you know like the reverse of The Wizard of Oz when the tornado house lands in OZ and Dorothy enters OZ everything turns to Technicolor, well you come in to Cabela's and everything goes grayscale. But if one is prone to hunting, fishing, camping or any sundry of outdoorsy activities one might find what one needs. I have always found things a bit too expensive for my tastes. I had never been to Cabela's until today and I will never return either.... my hubby and I were looking at semi auto handgun that we had seen on sale on their website and I was actually excited to go to Cabela's and get my country girl shopping on!!!!! We arrived at 4:00pm it took us until 5:20 to get ANYONE to assist us with the gun we wanted to buy.... there were like 6 employees and we were told by them that there were only two guys who could handle the guns and assist us with our purchase.... so an hour and half later we finally get a guy who can help us we check the gun out decide we want it and proceed to purchase the guy asked us if we wanted to do the back ground check paperwork/iPad or do it when we return tomorrow to pick the gun up.... we both said huh Why do we have to come back tomorrow?!?! The guy tells us that universal back ground call center closes at 4:30pm ummmmm since when they normally accept calls up until 5:45pm and he must have over heard us looking up the hours and came over and said that guy at register is doing one now he will be able to do yours as well I guess they extended the hours freakin liar we have done several background checks and have done it as late as 5:50pm. Well here it is 7pm background check is done not sure wth the guy is doing but he has a line of ten pissed off people.... other employees are behind the gun counter are just standing around instead of jumping On a registrar or finding someone who can be on a register. My kids and I walked around the store during our hours of being in the store and never once did anyone ask if we needed help and when we went to the cafe to get some fries two guys who we're suppose to be getting trash decided to sit and talk for over 30mins until and older guy who was literally the only one actually working Told the two younger guys to get back to work and empty the over flowing trash cans!!!!! I've never seen so many employees just standing around doing nothing in my life!!!!! This is the weekend before Father's Day and it wasn't even busy I can only imagine how much the customer service is going to suck the closer to Father's Day it gets!!!!! Sportsman's warehouse is so much better on all levels!!!!! We will never shop here again.... read more

If you own a firearm of most any kind come here to stock up on bullets or to upgrade your current accessories. If your looking to purchase a firearm they have an extremely wide range of choices including used or new and some california not legal. If you're into shooting bow and arrows they also have a wide range of bows and cross bows. They also have an archer range where you can come and "pop" some arrows off in the facility. This store is huge and a must visit for hunting and outdoor accessories or supplies. Their prices are very good for just about everything they sale compared to other competition. Try out their restaurant area as most times they have fresh wild animal you can try and experience cuts of meat you normally wont get at other restaurants or would of think of trying. read more

The Cafe in Cabela's: We were in Cabela's today and thought we'd see if the cafe had improved... hard to believe it could be worse than it was, but oh yes... it was. I had to scrape God only knows what off the outside of my Grilled Cheese, it was totally disgusting. Apparently no one cooking thee knows how to clean a grill. Let alone knows how to work one. It was enough to turn your stomach. My friend had a hot dog, which he was only able to eat half of it. We both agreed the bagged potato chip were good. We both ended up with indigestion. Doesn't anyone there care enough to do anything about this? Wait, what am I thinking, it's been this way for several years, so no one actually cares. How pathetic. read more

Cabela's isn't really at all the type of place I frequent, but I needed to get a bunch of clay pigeons and shotgun shells as a gag gift for the men in my group of friends for christmas, so off I went. Cabela's has a LOT of hunting gear. I imagine they have damn near everything you need for hunting pretty much everything. They have cameras that take pictures of the animals when you aren't there. They have these nifty little huts that you can put up in a tree and then shoot the deer or rabbits from. And they have a whole entire zoo of dead taxidermied animals and an aquarium that is wonderful especially if you have kids and can't afford to take them to the real zoo. The people that work here are incredibly helpful and friendly. It was VERY busy when I was there on account of it being the holidays and all. I imagine you could likely find what you are looking for for less money somewhere else, but if you need a one stop shop, this is likely the place. read more

Prices are typical, but watch sales and find some pretty awesome deals. Coordinate the family to go. Get some walkies and just run around. Neat stuff to see, VR games, clothes, food... family fun! Went in with my niece to get her started with archery. Chad spent two hours with us in the range. Chad customized the bow to my niece, & gave her a great first lesson. We bought the bow, a case, arrows, & some accessories. Since we were on Amtrak, we couldn't take it with us. & Cabellas no longer ships from the store. So after brainstorming about how we could get it to my nieces house, they packaged it for us, & got permission to have UPS pick it up & ship it to my nieces house. It is still a shrine for the outdoorsman trapped inside my city slicker life-form I inhabit - and so I still had to go. Dragged the poor kids along and they suffered while Dad was working his way through this mecca of fishing and hunting. This location is smaller than the other Cabela's around the country, but they stock enough toys for boys to keep you busy for a few hours (if your family lets you...) The selection from other outdoor superstores like Dicks Sporting Goods in the MIdwest is better, but Cabelas in Verdi, NV works in a jam. A local also recommended Scheels in Sparks, NV-as bigger (and more $$) but I will need to save that visit for another day. When I don't have my kids with me... The prices are moderate, but like other posters mentioned, the customer service needs improvement. I have ordered Cabela's mail order and been very happy, but the personnel in this Nevada store are few, and a bit slow. I requested a pair of shoes to try on that were on sale, and it took the clerk a long time to dig them up. In addition, when I brought them up to the cashier it was not the sales price as noted. The clerk had pulled a similar style-but not the sale one and it was $10 more. I still kept them because the fit was good and the price was still OK-but the shoe clerk should have either told me the correct price or honored the price for the shoe I thought I was getting. In addition, a clerk in the fishing section could not be bothered to help me she was so intent on stocking merchandise instead of selling me some gear. I ended up buying one of their Cabela's brand reels from another salesperson who was great, but it was aggravating getting zero response from the other clerk. Despite my gripes with the level of service, it is still a fun place to shop. The pricing is better at a Wal Mart, but if you need ammo, a holster, clothing, fishing tackle or a used firearm you can usually find something that will appeal to you. Check out their Gun Library locally and online and work with your local agent to get what you want if necessary. Fair prices for the used firearms, but at least you know there is a store standing behind the sale, as opposed to buying it from a private party. Interesting displays of some older firearms, and it's nice to be able to pick up and directly examine the long arms on your own from the racks of displays. Though not an ideal shopping safari, I still managed to drop some money for some ammo and fishing gear and leave a happier man for it. read more

I think the below review calling it Ikea for hunters really nailed it. A cornucopia of outdoorsy stuff of every type, variety, flavor, size, and breed. Reasonably affordable too, I scored a house-brand hoody for $40.00 that's one of the best I've ever owned. If you're a history geek, go check out the gun trade-in section. Lots of vintage World War II type rifles from all over the world sitting out to play with dazzled both my gamer side (Call of Duty II!!!) and my history side while simultaneously shaking my poor blue-state bred heart to it's very core. read more

Holy hunting batman!! You wanna hunt something?? Come to this place! Very similar to Bass Pro Shops, but more hunting focused as opposed to fishing. Awesome fudge shop here! Ended up getting 6 pieces of fudge (Buy 4 get 2 free). LOTS of flavors (Snicker fudge, Dark Chocolate fudge, Oreo fudge, Twix fudge, etc.). The fudge made it worth the stop. The Mr had fun looking at the fish tank as well as all of the crazy gear they have! If you're looking for anything outdoors or if you're going camping, I definitely recommend this spot. They wont stand behind their products. I bought a $200 fly rod and reel combo here, which is a lot of money for me. Product said 1 year unconditional warranty. The rod then proceded to fall apart mid cast less than two months later. Took it back to the store, and they basically told me to get bent. Calls to corporate went unreturned. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on, and will never again buy anything with the Cabelas logo on it. read more

This Cabels is ok but lacks in service. I have tried several times to shop for a handgun here but, I have been ignored by the guys behind the counter. On more than one occasion the clerks have walked right past me , choosing to help out the male customers, even though I had been standing there much longer. I love to hunt and fish and regularly buy items from cabelas.com so I was very excited to hear that a Cabelas was going to open up near Reno. My boyfriend and I both took Friday, Nov 16th off of work to drive up to Cabelas Grand opening on that day. We arrived at 0930 to lots of police sitting around watching the traffic go by and every single parking space was already taken. We parked in the overflow parking in the dirt and rocks on the hump. This store is relatively small compared to the other stores in Wisconsin. The store was packed. I asked an associate to find me a case of Winchester 20 gauge shotgun shells. I waited 30 min and he never came back. I ran into the same guy in the grill section a couple hours later and he asked me if someone had gotten me my case of 20 gauge shotgun shells....uh no... We looked at all sorts of shotguns and rifles and the associates were very helpful and knowledgeable about the firearms and the ammo. There were no specials or any sales for this opening day. We did hvae a hard time finding items that fit. My boyfriend tried to find a pair of dri waders in his size and they were not available. I tried to buy a pair of hunting boots in my size, 8, and that was not available. We did end up buying a few duck decoys, some other clothing, a case of 12 gauge shotgun shells, a few fishing lures, an air duck, some camo grass for the duck blind and even bought a couple bags of salt water taffy while waiting in line. The taffy was pretty good!. We generally had a good time even though the lines were long and the store was packed but it was obvious lots of people were very excited to have a Cabelas open in that area. This store has a lot more fresh water fishing tackle than salt water tackle. They have a great aquarium and nice taxidermy mounts all around the store. They also have a cafe that serves elk, buffalo and deer. If you are in the Reno, NV area to gamble or ski, this is a great place to stop by. Otherwise, it might be more worth your while to shop online instead. read more

The first time I stepped foot inside this huge place I was floored. This is truly an outdoors man paradise. They truly have it all here, from all your camping needs, to any and all fishing supplies and even a good supply of accessories for your truck or SUV. The gun library was unbelievable and was a real enjoyment. But the one thing that I enjoyed the most was looking at all the taxidermy animals. They have every animal you can hunt, from a Elephant to a Polar Bear to even a Rattlesnake. Definitely worth taking in the camera. And if you want a real unique experience, stop by the grill and try some wild game sandwiches or burgers!!!! read more

I tried to order an engraved Black Powder 1858 Remington that they never delivered.. the delivery kept moving and there was never a real promised delivery... recently I ordered a Colt Peacemaker Air Pistol and its the same dance the delivery keeps moving and when I asked them to change the shipping cost to something being offered they change the delivery again... it sucks that instead of just giving return customers the lowest shipping cost they continue this charade... if something you want is orderable but is on backorder... go somewhere else... read more

If you are looking for ammo, it's here, if you are looking for a good price on ammo, keep on truckin' I honestly think this Cabela's is to cater to the Californians that just want to run across the border and buy OMG scary magazines and things like that, because the prices here don't even beat the local gun shops. And their firearm prices are all over the place, most of the time higher than LGS by $50 to $100. Service was OK, couple of things didn't ring up correctly, and when I was filling out my 4473, they seemed they would much chat each other up than help finish up a deal. I visited this establishment today as a part of my wrestling teams trip to reno, and one of my team mates insisted we go to Cabelas on the way home for a "great meal" instead of stopping at subway (which is 10x better than this hell hole). We arrive and i pay 9 dollars for a roast beef sandwich and a side of potato salad. The sandwich tasted like cardboard and was dry, and the potato salad tasted like watered down potatos, and was close to flavorless. I am so happy to say I wasted 9 dollars on a shithole they call a sandwich, and spent an hour doing it all! I am also happy to say i have vowed to never step foot into another Cabelas for as long as I live. All in all, im only giving them 1 star because I have to to be able to write this review, if i could i'd give 0 stars. My toy store! I can (and I have) spend hours in this place. There are a ton things here. I'll walk through an area, then later walk back through the same area and find different things, I didn't see the first time! Everything you need for an active outdoor life is here. The staff is usually friendly and helpful. The stuffed animal displays are kind of cheesy, but they intrude the kids to wildlife, so it's ok. I wish I lived closer... then again, maybe it's good that I don't, I would be broke! ha ha. read more

Cabela's is the worst place to try and buy a firearm in the entire Reno area. They are rude, ignorant, and just plain don't know the laws in the state of Nevada. They refused to accept the interim Nevada drivers license for the background check which was issued to me by the Nevada DMV to be used along with the punched California drivers license which is to be used as the picture ID as instructed by the Nevada DMV. When I told the supervisor in the gun dept this fact and that other gun stores accept them he asked which gun stores and I told him All gun stores in Reno he replied that Cabela's doesn't then shrugged and walked away. I left and went to another gun store in Reno selected my S&W handgun of choice, handed them the same 2 documents from Nevada DMV which Cabela's refused to accept, passed the background check, paid for my purchase and took my new Smith home with me. My friend warned me about shopping at Cabela's because he had a bad experience from them as well and he refuses to shop there. I should have listened to him, Now I am going to tell all my friends and everybody I meet not to shop at Cabela's also. Don't shop at Cabela's. They don't deserve our business until they change their attitude and treat customers better. read more

Was there two weeks ago and was able to pick up some good supplies. Competitive on all pricing. They have just about everything you might be looking for and more. I made several attempts to follow up on the order with their online system and using their tracking system it said it had been shipped. On the 14 day I called and talked to a live person who said the item was unavailable. I do not recommend ordering anything online. read more

We have been here plenty of times and never got to review. Went in today and walked around and got our ammo cartridges for decent price, a few clothing items and Cabela's salt water taffy. Their prices are fair for quality items. We played a game at the shooting gallery and looked around some more. The only reason for the four star review is if there was more customer friendly service and welcoming their patrons or asking if we needed anything. I always enjoy workers who are appreciative of their customers patronizing their store. This is the only observation we've have noticed in the past as well. There will be a time that we will have a question or help finding an item and "hunting" down a worker is never any fun. Good spot to check out if your in Reno for sure. read more

I had a horrible experience today. A Cabela's employee made a mistake on a gun purchase and gave me the wrong gun. I called him on it and tried to exchange it for the correct gun. The manager said I would have to sell back the unwanted gun as a used gun and pay $500 difference for the gun I wanted and already paid for. Usually when an employee makes a mistake the manager should make it right. read more
