The firearms selection is huge, but the checkout process has made this a first-time-last-time situation for me. Unless you literally have all day (or can make multiple trips), don't bother. Any random local store will treat you better. Buying online and shipping to the store sounds great until you have to deal with their infuriating process of standing in line 3 TIMES in the same trip. I'm not an outdoorsy kind of girl, so I normally wouldn't go to a place such as Cabela's. However, my husband needed to pick up a hat and some ammunition for an upcoming pheasant hunting trip, so I agreed to accompany him here. One word to describe this place: HUGE! This location has a main level, and an upstairs level. The following are just a few of the attractions here: gun library, aquarium, boat center, bait shop, ATV shop, shooting gallery, and bargain cave. I definitely was impressed with the gun library. The selection of firearms is pretty extensive. And I wasn't aware that there were so many kinds of ammunition in existence. My husband had a question re some ammo, and the associate that he spoke to was very nice and helpful. Cabela's has a great selection of clothing for men, women, and kids. You are sure to find something that will keep you comfortable in the great outdoors. I was very pleased to see that they sell one of my favorite brands, Under Armour. Cabela's also has their own brand of clothing. The aquarium is a must-see. It is filled with many different kinds of fish, and is huge. It is very relaxing to just stand there and watch the fish swim. I didn't get a chance to check out every area in the store on this visit. But I'm sure we will be back here in the future. read more

I went to Cabellas on Black Friday 2018 at about 11am and I was looking for a Walther CCP and they had one in their used area. I ask the guy working back there for help and he did not seem real interested in helping me. He showed me the one they had and it was $399. I ask him if it came with another magazine and he said he did not know so I asked him if he could look and he rolled his eyes but did go look for it. After he found the box and it did have two magazines I asked him if he would take $350 for it and he said no they just got it in and that they were not interested in budging on the price. So I took off an went to another outdoor shop up the highway about 20 minutes away and found a brand new one for $417. I am not sure if there is something going on or not but it seem the people that work there are not very friendly anymore. I don't understand why they would not budge on the price but I have noticed the last few times I have been up there that if you look at the people behind the counter about half of them point firearms at the customers when showing them to them. I have always loved this store bought a lot of things there in the past but I think from now on I am going to stay closer to home and support my local shops. Employees of the store blatantly discriminate against women. I, a female, went in there to pick up an online order and I was the only one waiting at the counter. After looking up my order numbrr the worker walked away in the middle of helping me to ring up the purchases of a man who just got in line behind me. All he had to do was hand me the product I'd bought on line which was sitting two feet away and have me sign a clipboard but apparently women are second-class citizens here. Confidential up until now: I had always bristled at the thought of patronizing Cabela's. This is most likely because I was quick to envision their core consumer/most loyal patrons to be almost exact replicas of my extended family on my mother's side. (Yes, I love said extended family, but we generally butt heads about anything/everything. They're Wisconsin folks, proper. They like hunting, fishing, all things conservative, and aren't necessarily the most forward-thinking folks in the universe. We're all unique snowflakes though, so that's a thing.) I was also told by my brother that Cabela's boasts a "gun world," a store within the store that, by very name alone, seemed horrifying and full of somewhat scary militia-types. Fast forward to now, previous thoughts and musings less confidential and more, well... out in the open. I've now actually been to Cabela's, and I've now actually purchased items from Cabela's. (Well, L did, but technicalities, you know?) Camping: I love it... commune with nature and all that. Ground yo'self. Treat yo'self to a hike, a bike, a swim and a fire, some great conversation and tons of deep breaths (just not around the fire). The thing is, that while camping in and of itself should - imho - be a simple pursuit not requiring "glamping" amenities, it is nice to have a few nice essentials that make the experience more enjoyable. Here are my camping essentials: -a nice tent with a rainfly -a solid air mattress (it doesn't need to be double high or whatever, it just needs to not have holes in it) -a warm, comfy sleeping bag -a camp stove (one of those grates you put over the firepit) -a water "bladder" (gross terminology, but if you've camped you know what I'm talking about) -camp chairs -a latern -2 coolers, one for food/water and one for beer So, yeah. Not a ton of stuff. That said, we needed some of it pre-this past weekend's trip, and Cabela's is conveniently located off of 41/45. Sleeping bag: we got a double-wide. It's a two person deal, and it's SO AWESOME. A little on the pricey side ($200) but the hope is that this thing will last us a loooong time. Camp grill: this thing was $30 and it kind of sucks, but it was kind of our fault... we should've opted for the larger sized one. Whatever. Latern: a battery-powered Coleman ($40) was our choice, and though I really love the romanticism and OG nature of oil lanterns, this seemed the easier route for sure. The staff was helpful, the prices relatively reasonable, and the selection pretty outstanding. (It's a pretty huge chain... what do you expect?) I almost got lost in a sea of waterproof shell-type fall jackets and hiking boots... thank the Cabela's gods I managed not to wander too far into "apparel" and "shoes." So, if you like camping, fishing, hunting, or general outdoors-y pursuits, Cabela's has got what you need and then some. This place is a mega-mall of outdoor shit, you guys. We come here once or twice a year, typically before and after hunting season. This place is the Sam's Club of guns - the IKEA for outdoorspeople. They have sections on guns, camping, 'gear', animals, home decor, footwear, seriously they have something for everyone. There are always salespeople roaming around offering to help, and they have frequent promotions and sales, making it easy to score a deal. Very clean place, lots of staff and lots of product - plus they're serious about their second ammendment rights - 5 stars from me! read more

Now, I'm from the land of Bass Pro Shop...and this Cabela's is SO much better than Bass, it's ridiculous. Since the store is so big, I think they carry an extensive selection of anything and everything, it's just a matter of locating the right direction to start hiking in. But never fear, a friendly employee would be happy to point you there -- we were acknowledged by every single employee who walked by us, and that was a lot! The guys in the firearms department were very helpful, and they had a great selection of both new and used, as well as ammo and accessories. I'm definitely coming back here to buy a real coat, hat, gloves, etc. Signage was good (no trouble finding the restroom), and they have a big clearance room upstairs if you're looking for a bargain. Good clothes. They try to be like Columbia or North Face, but they lack in amenities the the others offer. Simple things like gusseted elbows in coats; chest pockets for phones and accessories, but only on men's items? What do they think? Women don't have that stuff when we're outside and need that convenience and protection? They expect he same price though! So I was researching for this particular item and finally came across it for sale on Cabela's website. I've been looking for this item forever, like 6-9 months. I finally found it and ordered it on 04/11/2020. I got a confirmation email, money was deducted from my account and I was suppose to pick it up at the Richfield store in 5-8 days. I decided to go online tonight and sign up for Cabela's Club. After doing so, I checked the status of my order and noticed that Cabela's cancelled it. I went online to look the item up and noticed the same exact item (item # and all) were identical, but for a lot more money and without the Romeo red dot sights. I called and spoke to a lady in customer service and in short, after she put me on hold, she stated that she would get me the same exact item and the sights for the same price that I paid for it originally, but she had to transfer me to another customer service representative. This other lady representative that I was transferred to told me that they were out of stock and despite that the order went through and the money was taken out of my account, I'm not guaranteed the item. She also stated that Cabela's has a disclaimer on their website that they don't have to honor the advertised price! She then stated that she could give me the item at their cost of $950 but can't give me the sights. I said no, that it wasn't fair and that I want what I ordered. So she then said that she'll talk to someone higher up. After being put on hold, she came back and said now she can sell me the item for what I originally paid which was $862, and give me the $55 in gift cards that I used toward the purchase, but still not give me the Romeo red dot sights. A store full of helpful people in Cabela's uniform shirts, but no help at the registers for almost ten minutes at 7:45 on a Wednesday night just before hunting season. There were 8 forlorn people waiting in line and literally NO ONE was at any of the 5 registers. I set down the products I had intended to buy and told the woman (not, apparently, capable of staffing the registers a few feet to her right) that I was leaving because there was no one from whom to purchase goods at the store. She explained that she could not do anything about it, and did not seem to care anyway. First time there, last time there. I purchased a Cabela's Alaskan Guide brand sleeping pad ($129.99). Supposedly it comes with a "Lifetime Guarantee". The lifetime guarantee is for what they deem to be the useful life of the product. For a sleeping pad I was told, "1 or 2 years." Which is it, I asked. Well, it depends. Anyway, you are better off to but a name brand like Thermarest that will stand by their product as opposed to Cabelas brand with a Lifetime (out of sight) warranty that vaporizes when you are out of sight! At least with Thermarest you can have them repair the product. With Cabelas, it's either replace within the lifetime for manufacturing defects only or buy a new one. Their customer service was a total waste of time. I am so done with Cabelas. I feel that I'm better off to jest purchase on Amazon and have things delivered for free. read more

I will say I do enjoy going to Cabela's, they always have a lot of things to look at and anytime I need a certain item they seem to have it. My biggest gripe is that I'm so dang tired of walking through the front doors only to be pestered by two or three people staring at me and asking if I have a Cabela's club card. I had ordered a gun from Cabela's in Feb 2020, it gave me the option to pick up in a store and was NOT on back order at the time. I received an email a month later, on March 10, telling me it was on back order, I would get an email when it was available. In early April I called the Cabela's in Richfield WI, the first call went to a line no one answered. The second call attempted to do the same but I stated no one answered. I was placed on hold for awhile then finally I was connected with some one who was clearly annoyed with my question and stated firmly I would get a call and an email when my gun arrived. I waited and waited. Today--May 31, 2020-I drove 40 min to the store to see about my order. When I arrived at the service desk there were 3 clerks talking. No other customers. I asked about my order and mentioned the last communication was in March and it was on back order. The clerk made no movement to help me just stating if it's on back order they don't know. I asked if she could just pull up my order and then she rolled her eyes and begrudgingly walked to a terminal to look up my order number which I provided. She stated "Well , it's been cancelled. We can't fill the order this year". So she did have new information! Cabela's did not send me any communication so that I could look elsewhere for this product. Unbelievable customer service right. Stopped at Hamburg location to purchase a 380 or 9mm compact handgun. This was Friday April 12th. 6 sales people dressed in a scout looking uniform only one an older gentleman helping a customer the other 5 were Lolly gagging around shooting the breeze or holding a scout meeting or something. Went in to the Richfield location with the intent to purchase my first shotgun. When I asked about left handed options the salesman said "good luck, you don't have many options". After finding a suitable model on my own I was told I could just order it as a left handed model online. I asked if I could do the order in the store and the salesman said "you can just do it on your phone or at home". I looked quickly on my phone, but saw no option to choose a left handed model... "oh...I guess that'll be a special order". I asked how to place a special order and the salesman apprehensively pulled out a form for me to fill out. A sales associate recently entered the wrong address for an order that never arrived, but they were so quick to send me a new order, no questions asked. On October 21, 2017, I went in to get my draw length and draw weight adjusted on my bow. I also needed to get arrows, field point tips, and a release. The man at the archery section named Mike was super helpful and super nice. I am new to bow hunting and he answered all my questions promptly and in a kind manner. I didn't feel like I was bothering him. He also took his time making sure everything was adjusted perfectly for me and made minor adjustments when needed. He explained everything clearly so I could understand it. He made sure not to price gouge me, and stuck to the budget I had. Overall it was a very nice experience from the moment I first walked in. The Richfield store overall is excellent. The rub comes when you hit the gun department. It's a total crapshoot whether you get someone who is helpful or an associate who could care less. The last two visits in row have been the latter. Both times they were older gentleman and were both very abrasive and seemed completely disinterested in offering help. When asked questions the reply would be a yes or no with no offer of follow up information. There will come a time when I will just stop patronizing this store for my shooting needs and go elsewhere. I ordered a fishing reel on the 13th of November and received it a couple of days later. Unfortunately there was something wrong with it so I went through the procedure to exchange it. Officially there was another order for this item 11/19/16 after I spoke to someone on the phone (recorded call). This reel now is obviously a used item, at least as a floor model. The entire reel is full of oil and the writing on the reel which supposed to show the Gear Ratio is completely warn of. I PAYED FOR A NEW UNUSED REEL AND I WANT A NEW, UNUSED REEL. I've had VERY mixed experiences here. The physical facility is outstanding. Selection is huge, the building is kept neat and orderly. The marketing is excellent and it's truly fun to walk around and look at everything for sale, Prices seem a tad on the high side, but not outrageously so. Selection is also excellent. Service, on the other hand, is VERY spotty. Sometimes you get a good salesman who really knows the product, Sometimes you get someone who wants to be helpful but really doesn't know much about the product. It is, unfortunately, not rare to have difficulty finding help or finding someone who wants to help. I've walked into the firearms department more than once, just itching to spend some money, and found no one willing to come from behond the counter to help me find what I wanted. My drive to this store takes about fifty minutes, so it's an effort to get there, On more than once occasion I've made the drive, shopped around, and walked out empty handed because no one wanted to help me or answer questions and I gave up. The last time this happened, I drove south to their competitor and had a spectacular experience and I stayed away from Cabelas for quite a while. Last week I decided to give them another chance. I was looking for a rifle and happened to get a salesman who seemed to know what he was talking about and helped me find something I liked. I made the purchase and was walked out of the store with all my packages, only to find when I got home that the box for the scope was left behind (along with the user manual). I called to see if it was still there. After struggling with the phone system and getting no one to answer, I was given the store manager's voice mail. Four days later (as of the writing of this review), I still haven't gotten a call back. Strike one. Yesterday I called again and found someone who had the box and set it aside. Today, while driving there, I received a call from the firearms department telling me I had to being my rifle back in because they processed the background check incorrectly. Strike two. I had to turn around, go home, fetch the rifle, and then drive back to the store. They were apologetic and gave me a $100 gift card for the trouble, which softens the inconvenience a bit. But then I decided to spend the card on a range finder. I asked for someone to come talk to me about them, and he gave me some pretty minimally useful information about them. Another gentleman came by to help, and he was awesome. He knew the product, knew what to recommend, told me why it was the best unit for my needs, and explained how it worked. ALL THEIR PEOPLE SHOULD BE THIS GOOD! So this is why I call their service spotty. Honestly, I think I'll be driving past them to their competitor for a while. Will never purchase another gun at this location again the incompetence of the employees at the gun counter and checkout is unbelievable, when I first purchased the gun I waited 1.5hrs in line only to get to the counter and be told that my background check was up for further review (everyone that was in line in front of me and behind me was pulled for further review this has never happened to me anywhere else) so I had to come back the next day for pickup waited 1hr in line and decided to leave since I only moved 1 person in that amount of time, I then came back the next day waited 2hours in line before getting up to the counter, had to bring the gun back for a repair and I am now standing in line again going on 1.5hrs to get the repaired gun back they have only helped 3 people during this amount of time read more
