The store has totally changed my views on locally owned shops. Prices are actually not higher than the mall (Nordstrom, Macy's, etc.), the staff are actually kind and helpful, and there is a cute dog hanging out and wagging its tail! I had a great experience getting a rare item in my size at a lower price than expected, with smiles and kindness through the end of the transaction. Measured, put on a treadmill to see my steps and then recommended a larger size than I had ever bought. He told me I needed to accommodate the larger of my two feet more than my sizing had in the past. He brought out about 4 different pairs/brands and I tested them all out on the indoor track. Eventually we settled on a pair of Saucony. This was a brand I had never bought before and so I was hesitant. But I'm now a month into running with them and they're easily the best running shoes I've ever owned. Price was pretty standard at 150 or so but they're totally worth it. Will be back when visiting my family in Milwaukee. That's how much I loved the store.

Came back with kids to pick out bikes and had a decent experience with young female employee. We were told it would take 24 hours to service new bikes, but we should pay first and pick up later. Returned the next day to pick up bikes and "Aaron" was disrespectful and being rude to my wife and children. I addressed this with the manager who simply made excuses for the behavior and said that it's not a store for kids and safety is a concern, but customer service is not. The guy seems mentally disabled so I didn't take the conversation much further. Clear that this business doesn't value customers or long term relationships. We will never shop here again.

I stopped because I saw it on my way back from Cedarburg Monday night. As far as sporting goods stores go, there is a decent amount of inventory. The lighting isn't as bright as Sports Authority, so the place looks dingy as a result. The prices seem in line with other sporting goods stores, but the customer service is what elevated this from a 3 star review to a 4 star review. I was greeted when I entered and asked if I needed help finding anything. He walked me toward the right area and another team member took me the rest of the way. The weight lifting belt that I bought rang up $10 more than the price on the peg where it hung, which is common in retail since things get moved to the wrong place by customers all the time, but the same product from that same peg had the same price as the price on the peg. So the team member have me a 15% discount to get closer to the listed price, which I was cool with. I also bought a new Brewers t-shirt for about $5 less than I find at most other retailers. I will consider Burghardt's for future purchases if I can't find what I want closer to my house.
