Whether you're into the wilderness or not, Cabela's is worth a visit! I've visited twice for their complementary photos with the Easter bunny and Santa. The staff is very kind and helpful with navigating the process. They have a larger selection of hunting, fishing, camping, outdoor equipment for sale. They also have a cute selection of clothes and boots for the whole family, infants to adults. They carry a lot of major brands and their own brand which seems like the best value. I'd definitely return and check out the taxidermy installations they have around the store. Parents--this would be a great rainy/cold day activity for the young ones! read more

Cabela's specializes in hunting, fishing, boating, and camping merchandise that has been a subsidiary of Bass Pro Shops. So if you are in the need for something in this area, Cabela's has it. I did a quick internet search of the product I was looking for and Cabela's had the best price. The store is huge, but I've been told the Cabela's in Memphis is 10 times the size with the boats in a pond in the store with restaurants and a hotel on the top story. The service was outstanding. Helpful and knowledgeable staff. For the stock, variety and price, I'd make the drive. I was in so much awe that I didn't take many pictures. I'll add when I visit again. read more

Located in Richfield, 30 or so minutes from Milwaukee, this is our go-to Cabela's. It's a bit of a trek but happy to pop by on occasion for camping equipment, outdoor wear, boating supplies, and more. As with other Cabela's locations, it's huge. One fun fact I didn't realize? They sell boats. I also love that Cabela's usually has a small aquarium area featuring various local fish varieties. When you're new to an area and maybe not as familiar with the local species of fish, it's nice to see them up close. The service is always friendly and accommodating and the prices are on the high end of average. If you need pretty much anything for hunting, fishing, camping, or any other outdoor life, Cabela's will have you covered and the experts to answer all your questions. Get to it! read more

This place is amazing. From the greeter at the entrance to the phenomenal decor inside, this place transports you to another world. Not sure what crossbow will fit your needs? The archery staff will point you in the right direction. The firearms counter is filled with those who are knowledgeable and understanding to your needs. Fishing? The fishing staff loves nothing more than to spend your time talking about how to get your next catch. If you need a guide for your next adventure, this is the place to get outfitted. I drove an hour to see the only pair of Swarovski NL Pure 12x42 binoculars in the store. I was told they were demos and I could purchase for 5% discount. Andy the manager after finishing his two sloppy joes for lunch came over to the optics counter and said they were not display units so I could not get 5% off of $3429 purchase price. The issue isn't if they were or were not display units, the issue is keeping your word to a customer that called first before driving an hour to the store. I have been to this store 4-5 times this year and there are more employees than customers each time with terrible service. I waited 30 minutes for someone to come to the optics counter. There was boxes of inventory behind the counter in various states of unpacking. It was a disaster and it used to be a place you would be proud to shop at. Sad decline over the past few years. The product was awesome and I purchased using my Cabelas Club card to redeem points and promotions. read more

Store is clean and well kept. If you don't pass a personality test, you won't be able to buy any popular firearms. I understand a business can do business with whomever they want and refuse service. I also understand that a FFL can refuse a sale for any reason. After my approval to buy a semi automatic rifle, I was told that I was still waiting approval which was a lie. The clerk was considering if I was good enough character to sell a firearm to. He finally refused after wasting my mine for almost an hour. I found it ironic as I was carrying the 10mm pistol I had bought from Cabela's a few months before. The clerk said the ATF pressures big box stores not to sell certain firearms. I was on the hunt (lol) for a new salmon rod 'n' reel for my son for Christmas. I had done some research online, but I gotta try before I buy, and Terry at Cabela's was super helpful in helping me put together a very nice combo, including a Pflueger reel that was on sale. Of course since we're outdoorsy we had to spend a few hours here, looking at fishing stuff, camping, clothes, and the taxidermy displays of many State record deer and elk. The aquarium is impressive. Cabela's (now owned by Bass Pro Shops) has some work to do. It was 3 weeks until Christmas, and barely anything of quality was on sale (on a weekend)! The camping selection leaves something to be desired, and everything is overpriced. There was a tent for $1,000! Do they even know this store's demographic? I'm a BPS rewards member, and purchases here don't apply towards BPS rewards, although I was told they accept BPS rewards dollars towards a purchase...That's like talkin' out of both sides of your mouth. Took my little one to see Santa. Was a little late for my reservation but everyone gladly still took us and the photographers were very nice. This place offers a lot of viewing pleasure for those who enter. They have many animals on display as well as a fish aquarium to view. Very fun experience and always clean. I'm active duty military and have the cleanest record, as well as bought several firearms in the past from other places with no problem. First time buying a firearm from Cabelas and all of a sudden being denied buying a firearm with no explanation because of their system. Apparently this isn't the first time this has happened so why in the hell is it still a thing especially with this important of a process. This place has got to have the shittiest customer service I've ever experienced in my life. Purchasing my firearm online was the last bit of help I ever received at Cabela's. From the time I entered until the time I left, the entire process was a headache. There was only one person ahead of me and I had to wait an hour while he finished shopping in the aisles with his son before completing his purchase and filling out paperwork for his background check. The man literally looked at me and said, You'll just have to wait" as he stared off into the distance and did absolutely nothing. Meanwhile, there were 2 other employees walking around behind the counter but no one would provide any service and seemed irritated when I asked them for help. When I was finally acknowledged, it must have been by a manager because all the assholes that refused to help me, started volunteering to take me off his hands as if they hadn't just been ignoring me for an hour and a half. The manager shooed them away and although there were other customers who were also waiting for help, they offered them no such assistance. They just walked away and left those people standing there. Once I began their tedious paperwork, I started to believe that I would soon be free of their wretched store but their computers went out in the middle of the application so I had to do it twice. I arrived at Cabela's at 11am and had to be at work by 3pm. I ended up being late because nobody that works here gives a shit and it shows. 2 days later I noticed that I had a missed call from them the day before but they couldn't leave a message b/c my voicemail was full. So, I called the next morning to see why they called and they wouldn't even answer the phone. They SERIOUSLY told Diane (the receptionist) to tell me that if they were calling about a denial (I have my CCW so I doubt it) oh well cuz I'm only going to get the one call. If it was approved, they'd call me back at some point but I was not to call THEM back EVER unless it's been more than 30 days. Talk about a power trip! These people have taken my money (which is why I guess the service is so bad), won't produce the product or refund me, and blatantly refuse to discuss any of the specifics when THEY called ME. I understand the Dept of Justice takes awhile to do background checks but the fact that Cabela's leadership really thinks a paying customer is not entitled to a response to a question is absurd. It's been 3 weeks and I haven't been able to get anyone on the phone except Diane who sounds sick of my shit and probably wishes that they'd just pick up the phone in Firearms and do their damn job so she can do hers in peace. I'll be damned if I drive out to Richfield again just to spend another 3 hours standing around to no avail. At this point, I don't want anything Cabela's has to offer because I'm not about to kiss their power tripping asses to spend money at their store. Although I have only been to the store a few times because I use the web site for shopping but today I wanted to go in and look around. I truly have taken for granted this store as just a retail space and today I took the time to really appreciate how cool this space is. My boss and I were talking and beef jerky became a subject and it turns out that both of us have an idea in the back of our head to make it at home. I told him that making jerky is like home brew beer, you can use any meat with any flavor profiles for unlimited creations but I never got around to doing it. I new I would find what I needed to get started here with some employees input and sure enough I left with what I needed to get started. The store is truly a destination stop for everything out doors with a cool general store and a restaurant. The wild animal dioramas are truly museum quality and can be viewed from two levels. There is nice wood all over to give you the cabin/outdoor feel all over. There is a laser target range for your amusement which is cool. I love the staff because they are so friendly and help full with one woman who was off the clock who spent time with me showing/explaining the make your jerky/sausage/sticks section with all the hardware and seasonings to get me started. read more

No Reviews for Cabela's?? Why?? It's not new just never got around to it. Just North of Milwaukee is Richfield and they have an outdoors superstore like Bass Pro Shops/ Outdoor World, And Gander Mountain. They have group of nice people working there, who are interested in helping if you need or browsing at your leisure. I came here specifically to find a seat cover for an ATV. They didn't have any. I later found one at Fleet And Farm. in Germantown. The check out girls are friendly and enjoyed taking money. I've found some good deals here. My wants are always greater than my needs. I could always use a brand new Fishing rod.especially if they are under $50-80 bucks. This location has many local animal mounts ( huh.... i said mounts. ) and an aquarium with plenty of local sporting type fish. There is even an elephant standing in the corner...... really! Go look plus a bunch of Buck heads and Full... mounts...( I did it again..) Keep your eyes open for sales as they have fliers and unadvertised clearance section throughout the store and also on the second floor is the education room for CCW classes. Make sure you inspect carefully I ordered a browning Maxus 2 wicked wing online, first one had a gouge in it covered by matching paint. Second one had scratches in the camo on the stock. Cabela's Richfield was not helpful at all and manager (Anthony) was rude and couldn't care less about selling the gun. After 3 trips to Richfield which is 60 miles away from me and 2 blemished shotguns the manger offered 50-100 dollar gift card for me to keep the blemished gun, that won't even cover the gas I used to come out there 3 times. Sorry a $2,000 shotgun shouldn't come with blemishes. They also put these guns back in their inventory, I know because they offered me the original blemished shotgun as a replacement, so be careful what you buy from Cabela's Richfield, WI. It is most unfortunate that I drop my review of Cabelas from a paltry 2 stars to 1 star. I was in the market for a concealable handgun. I did some on-line research and found that the firearm I was interested in was on sale at Cabelas for not that much more than my go-to online gunshop. While I have had negative experiences at Cabelas in the past, I still would prefer to shop where my money stays in my local community so I drove up to Richfield and started talking to a gun salesman. While I am not going to mention names, the shorter older gentleman who helped me seemed to have more of a nonchalant and brash attitude towards my questions. I felt like I was being more of an imposition to him than a buying customer. I asked him if he would match the price I had found on-line, After disappearing for 5 minutes to apparently look up the name of the popular on-line store, he came back and said that they won't. He badly mispronounced the name of the store which led me to believe he was not well versed in online sales. What bothered me the most was that before I was finished, he put the firearms I was looking at away and promptly disappeared from behind the counter, leaving me to ponder what I should do next. I ended up eavesdropping on another customer who was being served by a younger, taller, bearded salesman. This salesman spent a lot of time talking to this customer who ultimately purchased a firearm from Cabelas. While I attempted to wait to talk to this younger salesman, the first salesman who helped me, returned but I had no further interest in talking with him. He saw me waiting but did not approach me or attempt to inquire whether I had any further questions. Poor Customer Service and they don't stand behind their products! I returned a pair of the Cabela's Euro 10x42 binoculars, for an exchange due to workmanship issues. I was told it would be 6-7 weeks internally before they would even get to my return. 8 weeks go by and I'm emailing and getting the run around. Today 10 weeks later I'm told there would not be an even exchange and that the "Lifetime Guaranty" stated on the website is not worth a damn. They offered me $229.88 for my binoculars!!! These are $999.99 dollar binoculars!! When I asked them to return my binoculars they said they would not be able to do that. So I'm stuck! I was a former black card cabelas member and have not bought any firearms from them since before the bass pro buyout. Thought I would give them a chance again. Order a 22LR plinker pistol online to pick up at store. All went well, couple hours later got confirmation to pick up pistol and do paperwork. I went in to do required forms. I put my legal name thats on my social security card and birth certificate, and social security number to ease the process.( Also concealed carry certified and former C & R FFl holder that I let lapse). Staff denied saying my drivers licence name and name on form were not the same. Sorta like have Mike on your drivers licinse and Michael on your birth certificate and CCP. Cabela's is quite a store - If you're an outdoors person, that is. We stopped because we were headed out Holy Hill way and I was hoping for a new warm casual jacket. First - the store is huge. Like bigger than big. There's an aquarium, a big "mountain" with all sorts of stuffed wildlife and a whole museum dedicated to deer hunting + trophies. PETA members will probably not enjoy Cabelas. Second - they have everything. If you want to hunt, fish, camp or decorate your home to look all cabin-y, they've got it here. Deer urine, camo sheets, antler lamps, fishing lures, ice shanties, bass boats - not to mention lots of jerky AND the supplies to make your own. Third - camouflage lingerie. Fourth - should you be out for a ride on your trusty steed and be like "damn, I'm out of ammo". Never fear - they have a horse corral for your convenience so you can shop anytime. Fifth - hope you enjoy country music, because that's what's on the sound system. In short, I did not get my jacket because I didn't want to spend $180 for a North Face, but the Mister did find a pair of shoes at a good price. Let out your inner BEAST! I don't care if you're not a hunter, fisher, or trapper. This place is impressive. You can always judge a place by its following. I was impressed by the number of people leaving after a day of shopping decked in Cabela's logo sweatshirts and hats. A real following for sure! Size matters when it comes to housing a massive selection that attracts sportsmen and women. Clothing? Check. Gear? Check. Food? Check. The area's largest display of taxidermy? Check. From the mountain of stuffed animals including the other two areas on the eastern side of the complex to the aquarium, it's an impressive place. This place is great to spend a few hours exploring. I appreciate that they label each animal so it has an educational experience. Two cafes allow for you to take a break and enjoy some backwoods grub. Be sure to checkout the bargain room on the second floor for deep discounted deals. No let down, but all-in for this giant outdoor superstore. Make a stop if you're in the area. read more

Great place to look & get a feel for an item I'm looking for. But, most prices are full retail. I just bought 500 yards of 65 LB. test Spider Wire for $52 bucks. Found it online for almost half the price. The only deals you will find seem to be on Cabela's brand. The bargain cave isn't all the bargain I would expect either. I priced the new Shimano Tranx at Cabela's, found a full retail price of $499 on it. Picked it up online for $375. I wish they offered a better selection of St. Croix fishing poles. The US made models are lacking. The gun & ammo selection is awesome. Glad to see they restock the ammo on a weekly basis. Ammo prices are competitive. Everyone here is so friendly! We were asked every time we entered a department if we needed help finding anything or had any questions! No employee looked unhappy to be there, they all had smiles and were very inviting & helpful read more

We went to the Cabelas in Richfield, WI a few days ago to buy a 32 gun Cabelas brand gun safe. It was sold out online, so we figured it would be better to come into the store and ask in person to have the safe put on back order for when it comes in, to have it delivered. We weren't in a rush to to have it physically, but were pretty sure wanted that one specifically when it was available. The first employee we ran into worked behind the gun counter, and said he would send someone over to the safe area on the sales floor to open the safes so We could look at the insides.. We were open to looking at other safes, but we're pretty set on the sold out product. We waited a bit and another employee walked up and asked what we needed. We told him our story, and that we wanted to look at the insides of some safe as well. He said "well I can't do that, I don't have keys". Okay. I said fine, can he help me put this other safe on back order? We are pretty sure we want this one anyway. He said "I don't know how to do that". Okay. He went and grabbed the original guy from behind the counter, he walked over, I explained again that I would like it on back order. I had my cabelas site open on my phone, he said "Scroll down and click on 'wishlist', and that's it". Then he walked back behind the counter and left us by the safes. I couldn't click on the wishlist button on my phone, they hyperlink wouldn't work, but I couldn't ask for assistance because the guy walked off. We were about to leave the store because we weren't getting anywhere with assistance when someone asked us if we needed assistance. He was super sweet and said that he was going to meet us at the service desk with someone who would be able to answer our questions. We though that was great so we went to the desk and waited a few minutes. A man walked over, I think he may have been a manager (half black and half white beard, didn't catch his name). We explained our story again, and he said: "Yeah, you only have one option. You can apply and get approved for a Cabelas card, and put the safe on your wishlist" I asked:"I have to have a Cabelas Credit Card to put this on my wishlist? Is that why it wasn't working on my phone?" He said "Yes. Then you can come in and buy things on the card, build up points, and then basically get a free safe when it comes in!" I was angry. I didn't say anything rude at all, but I knew that this guy just lied to my face to get me to apply for a credit card and get him kickbacks. I was PISSED. We are here to spend a lot of money on a semi large safe, plus an expensive delivery, and are greeted with several very unhelpful employees and an employee that straight up lies to us to swindle us into getting a credit card that wasn't needed. I was insulted. We left and went to Fleet Farm, bought a safe the next day, and had it delivered this morning. Cabelas has permanently lost our business. I love Cabela's, Its a sportsmans mecca. The people here are super nice, it could be because im from NJ but they seems nice regardless of my normal understand of customer service. If you haven't been here, you owe it to yourself to check it out. It has lot of family fun like an aquarium, a mountain covered in taxidermy and a fudge shop. I've been a Cabela's customer for 25 years. I hate to think how much money over the years I have spent with them (and hope my wife doesn't figure it out). I still stop by the Hoffman Estates, IL, Sun Prairie, WI and Richfield, WI stores but I've noticed (as have others) that since Cabela's was purchased by BPS that the quality and quantity of their name branded goods has went down hill. If I wanted to purchase BPS branded merchandise I would shop at BPS. I will continue to shop at Cabela's mainly because they are one of the few companies that still carry some higher end rods and reels. I do miss the days though when Cabela's was THE premier sportsman outfitter. read more

It's also a great place to bring the kids as their is a giant aquarium of Wisconsin native fish and lots of really cool taxidermy animals that are museum quality from all over the world. Since the merger things have gone down hill. They sold the credit card to a less than desirable bank. They have decreased the coupons and sliding scale coupons. They reduced their discount to military. They decreased the amount they offer for discounts on their so called customer appreciation days. The cashiers lack attention to detail on product purchases. Not one asked me if I had the correct ammo when I bought multiple boxes and missed as I did that I had one caliber that was odd and I don't own firearm of that particular caliber. Keep the profits Bass Pro and fill your fat cat pockets. This is why I buy most of my products off the internet. We were passing through from Texas on our way to fish Sturgeon Bay and I needed two new rods as I didn't want to try to carry them on the airplane and Aaron at the reel counter was awesome!! He helped me in selecting the perfect rods then helped to properly string them as well as teaching me the best knot to tie fluoro to braid. I love that they allow me to bring my dog in the store as it's far away from home and I hate to leave him in the car, plus he's well behaved and enjoys everyone ooohing and awwwing over him. The firearm counter is always ridiculously busy and they could use a few more associates there but they are nice, polite and knowledgeable. The firearms selection is huge, but the checkout process has made this a first-time-last-time situation for me. Unless you literally have all day (or can make multiple trips), don't bother. Any random local store will treat you better. Buying online and shipping to the store sounds great until you have to deal with their infuriating process of standing in line 3 TIMES in the same trip.
