This place is like an enigma. I like some things and hate other things. It's like IKEA for rednecks. While I do like their weird game food menu, and I am pro smart logical gun rights (no one needs a machine gun) and I support game hunting when an animal is honored and all of it's parts are used for meat and leather in a careful non wasteful manner... , I hate that animals were killed and put into a display diarama here. Just WOW! For starters, called to see if they had the firearm I wanted and was told they did NOT, decided to stop in anyway and noticed right away they had what we were after. The wait at the gun counter was just over an hour, the wait at checkout was close to 5 hours. If they didn't have my license and I didn't have so many Cabela's points, I might have just said forget it. Staff was pleasant, just severely understaffed and they were checking out ammo and miscellaneous items at the gun checkout and really with their back-up, should have been sending non-firearm purchases downstairs. After close to 6 hours, the only reason we would give them 2 stars is because they had an OK price (after Cabela's points) on a unique firearm. Hopefully they work on flow and staff better for weekends in the future. read more

I've been a loyal customer of Cabela's for a long time, and my son and I have made a habit of visiting the Lacey, Wa store at least once a week. That said, I lost a receipt for an item that I purchased, and I attempted to return it. The customer service dept said that they were invoking their right to refuse any return. The item I was returning wasn't even opened much less damaged. That might be the worst return policy I've ever seen. Sorry Cabela's, you've lost a long time fan and customer...even if I do find the Edit: after contacting Cabela's corporate office, they were able to look up my receipt and send it to me while confirming that I should have at least been offered store credit. All's well that ends well, it might have just been an off night for the individual that I encountered in customer service. read more

I purchased a new axillary fuel tank for my ATV and after putting fuel in it I found a leak in the fill neck. In trying to get a replacement I was told that they will not return a tank that has been used. How do you find a leak without putting fuel in it? They should not be selling an item that was defective if it cannot be returned. I'm done with Cabela's. read more

Why do you have to wait for 2 hours to ask a question at the gun counter when you only have 2 people working the counter and 12 employees standing around at check out. My wife and I have been going to Cabela's for a long time, it's sort of a destination drive for us because it's quite a distance. Over the years we've bought many items but mainly we go to Cabela's for their firearm selection. In the past, we've bought a number of firearms there but I'm sad to say that those days are over. Cabela's has been instructed by it's boss, Bass Pro, that all firearms will have a trigger lock mechanism installed and that those trigger locks will not be removed when customers are considering a purchase. This would be like going to a car dealership and being told that you can't touch the steering wheel! This policy means that customers interested in a firearm will not be able to tell how the firearms fits in his/her hand, nor the trigger pull, etc. Every Cabela's employee that I talked with agreed that the policy makes no sense and they all suggested that I write this, a complaint. Cabela's does not have the best prices on firearms but they used to have great customer service, no more. There is now little reason for us to go to Cabela's or, for that matter, to have the Cabela's credit card. To bad, Cabela's was a lot of fun. read more

Recently purchased a fishing depth finder and it didn't work the first and only time we used the last weekend when needed crabbing and fishing. We returned it to customer service and dealt with I believe to most incompetent people ever. First they told us that it was probably still in demo mode that is why it didn't work....questioning our intelligence. I believe it was defective and the supervisor told the cashier to just put it in the Bargain Cave (make a note to yourself to not purchase electronics from there, if you can't see they operate properly). They couldn't figure out how to do a return with out of state/tax exempt and part of it we used a gift card on. Super disappointed with the whole ordeal. We ended up going to a store in Oregon and our new fish finder works perfectly. read more

Drove 40 minutes to the Lacey, WA to purchase new rain camo. Website reported multiple options in 3XL in stock at store. Hard to find sizes beyond S-XL, rarity to even find 2XL. Walked around the store to find an associate for help. Felt as if employees were avoiding customers in general. Too many negative experiences for myself and other family members at this store. Family scoffed at me for shopping there, now I understand why. I wont continue shopping here and will support the smaller businesses. read more

If you are looking for anything other than a gun, this is an awesome store. The gun pick up process is horrible. I purchased a gun late last year, and waited through the gun check out procedure, over an hour. I had to return the gun for a repair and had to go through the same process to check it in. The gun was repaired by the manufacturer and by staying in touch with them I found out when the gun was on it's way back, a week later I called Cabelas and they found the gun but no name attached to it. When I went to pick it up, I had to wait again and this time it was over two hours to get called for check out. During that time I watched two customers that were buying guns give up and leave. When I was finally called I mentioned this to them and not a lot of concern that their process needs some improvement. They also have a horrible supply of ammunition. read more

The store itself- 5 stars The products they carry- 5 stars The prices- 3-4 stars The food option- 5 stars The flavor- 2-3 stars The store itself is awesome, you can go here just to go and look around and take this kids to see the fish and attend free classes. When you buy something here you are buying quality, however, you are also spending a lot. The food options are amazing, however, everything I have had there has been over cooked making it almost impossible to taste exactly what animal you are eating. As a side note they only have Pepsi, however, they will get a pass on this one from me. What she didn't tell us was that they pull a hard pool on our credit. And $50 does not apply if you don't qualify for the card. I thought it was extremely rude. Ordered a pistol month ago thru thru the front counter. Never heard from them again. Attempted to call them several times over the next week at different times and also left messages. THEY NEVER ANSWER THE PHONE. Also ordered another gun (shotgun) and had the same experience. Ordered online and received it much faster them going in. They also ignore the women and mostly talk to the men. Not a good experience. Shared my opinion with a customer service person in a different department and was told told several people in the last few weeks have been calling about the same thing and was told they spoke to the manager over there who could care less on the complaints! read more

I gotta admit.. Cabela's is a pretty damn awesome store. There are so many different things to look at and the size alone makes it for a long visit. If you need to get in touch with your outdoorsy PNW side then this is a nice place to start out at. They have pretty much anything you can think of here and the prices don't seem TOO bad, but on the other hand I can see how it can easily get expensive shopping here, LOL The dead animal displays are cool to look at too (not in the creepy way, but more in the "damn this animal could MESS ME UP in real life" kind of way) and the salmon aquarium is worth checking out too. read more

UPDATE....A Manager from Cabela's today contacted me and said he agreed I had compelling evidence and they WOULD honor my purchase'. It took several layers of red tape but quite happy they did the right thing for their customer. Once I receive the product in a couple of weeks this review will be completely edited to reflect. Happy with resolution assuming they follow through as expected. Buyer BEWARE! Cabela's is advertising blow out specials, taking orders, providing delivery dates then cancelling orders three days later telling yo7 they are out of stock and you have to buy the more expensive item. Contacted Customer Service repeatedly and they will not do a thing, when posted on their site with documentation received numerous comments stating similar issues until it was taken down. Was not greeted by a single person, the employees would greet anyone else who looked much older. The employee would make eye contact but not greet me and ask if I needed help finding anything. I was wondering around the store for 20 minutes before I had to approach someone. At this our it's not very busy.. so I would assume someone.. Came here with my daughter and grandkids. Almost like going to the zoo, but the animals hold still. This place has an incredible display of stuffed indigenous animals. Deer, coyotes, mountain lions, bears, big horn sheep, mountain goats, beavers, prairie dogs, and even some African animals. Well almost all the animals hold still - except the fish - big fish - Salmon, Trout, Bass, all DINNER sized, just swimming around in the huge aquarium that is a floor to ceiling size. They have a shooting gallery - laser guns, that shoot at all kinds of targets. It costs a couple of tokens per game, and I never found out how much the tokens were, people kept handing us their extras. My 6 year old granddaughter and I had a blast with that. We were thinking about trying their restaurant, but I didn't see much low carb stuff that I could eat. Mainly Burgers and Fries, but very exotic meats on the burgers. Yeah, they had guns, knives, sporting goods and clothes too. We browsed the store, but the highlight was the "zoo". And best of all, not that far to go from Olympia and free for browsing. read more

We stopped in again last night to see about getting my son a new fishing pole because he broke the tip of his favorite one completely off a couple days ago. For being a Saturday evening I figured it would be more crowded than it was, but realize that relative to the size of the store and parking lot, you could have 200 people shopping in here and it still wouldn't feel crowded at all. They are having a large clearance sale right now. The discounts on higher priced items are good, however I still can't bring myself to pay $40+ for a shirt that isn't that special. I did find a winter beanie hat for a good price and although my son did not find a deal on a fishing pole he liked, one of the sales people gave him a card for a repair shop. I really appreciated that because I would rather repair a good fishing pole than throw it in the land fill and consume another one. Great job Cabela's, thanks! read more

Only in America...will you find this Surrealist tribute to all things outdoorsey. I especially enjoy Dead Animal Mountain that rises majestically over the isles of shotguns and camouflage, decorated with every big and small game stuffed animal native to North America unfortunate enough to find themselves in the crosshair. Oh yes there's even an enormous aquarium filled with game fish, Inside the mountain. Walt Disney, eat your heart out. If you are looking for anything related to the outdoors you will find it here, along with some pretty good prices. Also, if you present your PETA membership card you receive 10% off on the elk and wild boar sandwiches in their cafe. BTW, did I mention the stuffed elephant? read more

Stopped by their cafe for dinner & ammo on a recent slog. The cafe has a novelty menu with wild game (boar, elk) along with exotic meats (bison). Unfortunately they blanket the food in so much canned sauce that you can't even enjoy the distinctions of these quality meats. For the prices they charge, you could go to the nearby Ram Brewpub and have a much better meal. read more

I'm gonna have to say, I like this store a lot more than the Reno one I've been too. It is two story and with a restaurant. Wish we would of known it had a restaurant and we would of ate here for lunch. Much more of a selection and more animals then the Reno one too. My 3 1/2 year old was very impressed with the cool fish tunnel. They don't carry a lot of size 14 shoes which both my husband and step-father were looking for. But no biggie, it's common that stores don't carry that size. My hubby was able to find some Crocs which run big and he also got a really cool Under Armour shirt. It was also cool that they have a Bargain basement and also clearance racks all over the store. Can't wait to come back on our next trip. read more

First off at this point COVID-19 cannot be your excuse for everything!! I arrived at the store (Lacey 05 Aug 2020) excited about to purchase; my first ever bolt action...I arrived to the gun counter and the line/customers were minimal. So I thought it would be a quick transaction; look over the gun, due up the paperwork, get approved...bc I am a law abiding, Military personnel and I'll be out the door...NOT the case-I stood in one line for 45 mins just for the guys behind the counter to tell me gun purchases are by number you'll have to wait MORE!! Now by this time I'm looking around for signs bc this begin to make me lose patience...finally after 25 more minutes of browsing the upper deck for nothing I intended to buy...JACK, called my number...man I tell ya!!! I told him I was looking for a Ruger American in 7.62!! He proceeds to say I'll have to show him as if I work behind the counter!!! I then repeated my statement bc the mask makes my voice very muffled- and I stated again Ruger American in 7.62...and directed him to the area where it should be (SMH). So he looks through the section and didn't see the caliber I wanted, I asked if he could look on the computer and see if they had one present...as he was looking; he ask is it in 7.62x51 "dude" do you work here or not...I stated 7.62x39-have no knowledge of his everyday environment-then he got snippy "oh that would've helped!" Got past that headache, was not on there inventory oh ok no worries. Can you look it up at Bass Pro Shop-I'm very up-to-date with the news I knew the two fell under one umbrella....JACK proceeds to say oh I cannot look it up-SMH that was twice!!!! So long story short if he doesn't have the patience/customer service/appreciation for his job maybe he needs to find other employment or a different section!! Thanks JACK, I will never visit the Lacey, WA store as long as I'm on this side of the US... Thanks to Bass Pro Shop in Tacoma, WA...they assisted me with expert customer service-I am a proud new owner of my Ruger American 7.62x39...I was in and out within less time with my rifle than I was with JACK (Cabela's) waiting on my number to be called!!!! It's REI for the hunting/fishing/boating crowd. A jampacked gun section, camo section, an aquarium with live game fish, a massive display of stuffed creatures from the world over, ample parking, and exotic meats. Friendly, knowledgeable help, and the widest assortment of earth-toned clothing I have ever seen. I'll probably be back the next time I have a craving for boar bacon, which I didn't look for, but I assume that they have. I mean, they had a handgun that shoots shotgun ammo, so why wouldn't they have boar bacon? Aside: have you ever had boar bacon? Delicious. read more

My buddy the pirate loves this place. Apparently this is the only place he shops for his hunting needs. He asked if I wanted to see what it was like. I decided to take his offer and enjoy myself a ride down the i-5. As we made it out to the middle of nowhere. I noticed this was a flagship store for some shopping complex. And it was the only one open. The other stores were discontinued because of the economy. As we pulled into the parking lot I notice all the vehicles are trucks. They all have NRA stickers on them. So as my buddy goes wild like a kid in a candy store. I go on my little adventure. I look at all the pictures of out houses. Then all the stuffed animals a gun can put down. A lot of 4 legged creatures, and even a bull walrus. They also have these aquariums that have salt water fish and the other has fresh water fish. As I meet my buddy at the cashier I notice his cart is quite full. Ammo for all his guns, sub temperture sleeping bag, all weather pants, socks, and grenade launcher . He paid for all of it and he was a happy camper. If you want to look like you hunt or fish this is your store. Hop onto the I-5 and drive your butt here. read more

Cabela's is a destination outdoor, sportsman's store. It offers everything to satisfy the outdoorsy side of yourself. The building is gigantic and clean, and the selection can't comapre to your strip mall fishing, hunting, outdoor lifestyle store. I have been purchasing goods from Cabelas long before there was a store in Lacey and have never questioned the quality of the products I was buying. I have bought flyfishing equipment pimarily. I have had one poor experience that was so awful that I must review this store with two stars. Here goes: I find some pants online. I purchase the pants. The pants do not fit me. As a result I call Cabelas in Lacey and ask if I can return them in store and purchase ones that fit. The customer service rep entered the product number to ensure that they would be available. He says yes, the size and color he tell me, are in the store and to make the 45 minute journey there. After a long drive, I arrive. I am greeted and I begin my search for the pants. After a good twenty minutes I can't find the pants. I search every inch of the men's department. I finally ask for help, which was a difficult feat in and of itself. Two reps tell me that they have never carried the pants in the store and they don't have them. I ask them to double check because I was told that they would be there. They are not there. I ask if there is something that they can do because I drove a long distance to complete this transaction. No help. Go once and be in awe of this place. But, you can buy nearly everything here somewhere else with better customer service policies at more reasonable price. read more

Went in to purchase a pistol and some ammo. The wait was over 2 hours. A customer going to wait 2 hrs to spend his money, not going to happen. Went to Castle Guard Sports in Centralia. Even with a longer drive I made my purchase (saved $50.00) and was home before Cabela's would have been able to talk to me. By the reviews, looks like others feel the same way. You might hear "so slow" or "so busy" or "pricy" from other reviews. Those people have no idea what a big box store should be like. We are blessed to have such a selection of items to pick from here in this town. Firearms counter is busy for a reason, they hire people who know what they are talking about. I don't know why I haven't reviewed Cabela's in Lacey sooner, maybe I am just getting old! Well, this place is pretty much awesome - what an incredible store. And if I find this place so incredible, why do I only give it 3 stars? well, I am glad you asked.... I came here about 4 years ago when I was in the market for a shotgun. I couldn't believe how many people were hanging at the gun counter, with only 2 employees working the counter! I waited and waited and waited....well you get the idea, and waited even longer. Finally I just left. Thinking this just may have been an anomaly, and an unexpected amount of people showed up on a normally slow day, and maybe someone called in sick, I decided to give it another try. And guess what, it was exactly the same as my first visit - 2 counter guys with 15-20 people waiting to be helped. I was done after that - this place isn't exactly centrally located and I don't know about you, but I don't enjoy driving an hour each way to stand in a line of 20 waiting to be helped. So fast forward to Dec 12. I was in the market for a rifle and decided to take the trip to Lacey (what was I thinking?). Wow, there had to be at least 40 people waiting, maybe more - the recent events really were spurring a frenzy! but how many people were behind the counter? I counted 3.....waited a few minutes to see if there were more coming from the back.....nobody else came out in the 10 minutes I was stupid enough to wait. Ok, maybe they were caught off guard.....but this was a Saturday, and only 3 people working the most popular dept in your store? Really? Lets move to Jan 13. I am in the market for a handgun for my wife. I attended a couple of gun shows and did some research and narrowed down my selection...which was becoming difficult to find. So on a day we happened to be out and about down south, we decided to stop in and see what they had in stock....nada of course. But again, there had to be 30 people in the immediate vicinity of the gun dept - this time I counted 4 employees behind the counter. Making very small headway, but still completely inadequate for the time. Again, this was a Saturday. How do you not figure out you need more people working the firearm dept? Not surprisingly, the accessories shelves were just barren....hardly anything. Man, I am just rambling...I think this is the longest review I have written...guess I am just a little frustrated with the lack of help. I suppose it's my own fault, I keep driving a friggin hour each way to this place, knowing it hasn't really gotten better. (is gotten a word? ah who cares at this point). I will give a shout out to Cabela's online - when I was looking for a certain caliber ammo that is pretty much out of stock all over the country, they were out of the bulk, but still selling smaller quantities and they didn't triple the price like everyone else has. Beautiful facility....that's where it ends. The absolute worst customer service I have ever experienced in a sporting goods store. I've purchased firearms from here off and on since they first opened. The past couple have been the SLOWEST most drawn out escapade ever. Both times I registered with their text system and it still took forever to get a counter person. Both times I went in knowing exactly what I wanted- no touching, or looking at several, or anything. Simply a " I want to buy a ......, So let's start the paperwork". One of the times my wife and I figured we would turn it in to a date night in Olympia because we live about 50 miles South. So we figured an extra couple hours before dinner and so on. Between waiting for help, the paperwork, and more waiting; we lost our date night. The very last firearm a few weeks back it literally took about 5-6 hours total between the 2 visits. I grant that our worthless state has gone nuts on paperwork, but I just purchased a firearm from Sportsman's and the combined time of both visits was literally 25 minutes. They are operating under the same laws! I do want acknowledge that the staff is friendly enough once you do have help- but they are completely inefficient in the gun department. Also, both times they had several customers mulling around, but certainly did not seem to be overly busy. Several associates in the area, some appearing to not really be doing much. Cabela's get it together! Some of my relatives buy me gift cards for birthday and Christmas. I have since asked them to consider Sportsman's cards instead of Cabela's and then I shared why. Impressive place. Upon driving up, it's as though you're arriving to a mecca on the hill. The store is absolutely huge, complete with a mountain, fish tanks, many many stuffed animals, etc. I was quite impressed by the men's clothing section that is very large. While they didn't have the items from their website that I was hoping to check out in-store, it was still a neat experience and now I know that I'll want to return for future purchases. read more
