These guys are awesome. I had a chance to contact this FFL about a week ago. From the moment I dial up their number, I had a few FFL-specific questions in mind, and their representative answered thoughtfully, and thoroughly. Even though I hadn't ever walked into their shop, they didn't even know who I was, and I had not bought anything from them at that time... they still treated me with the utmost respect. Because of this awesome interaction, I've been saving up to pick up my dream pistol, and I WILL be ordering through Private Sector Arms. Not just because of their respectful, and knowledgeable service reps... but the fact that they are an authorized dealer for many manufacturers including Magnum Research, and Kimber (if memory serves me right). If they place the order, you can save on an FFL transfer fee as you would occur if you purchase a gun off gunbroker...etc. Also, their added integrity, knowing that they inspect each and every firearm thoroughly when a shipment arrives... rest assured your firearm will come out looking fresh. Great customer service and actually has a functioning online catalog. Meaning you can pay online before going in...but of course still need to fill out and sign paperwork for those that read this assuming you can pay online & pick up without passing a background check. Know what you want and some basic prices before even considering this place. My wife went in alone and she has no experience in this industry she was looking for her first firearm. Don somehow talked my wife into a Glock 43 when he didn't even have one in store to put in her hand. He told her he had already ordered it and it is on the way and will be ready for pickup by the her wait period is over. He charged her $750 for it. It MSRP at $485 and sold pretty much everywhere at that cost. He had her do all of the paperwork and supposedly got her approved. Im confused because part of that paperwork includes a make model and serial number for the firearm, which again wasn't present at this time. When she came home and told me of the great deal and how nice this guy was i showed her three different websites with it costing $485. She decided to cancel her purchase but we had to wait until the following day because of business hours. The next day we called prior to noon and was told Don only works 1-130 and we have to speak with him. So once we finally did speak with Don he said he would either let her keep it and give her $200 back because of the overcharge or she can return it minus the paperwork fee, completely understandable, but also a 25% restocking fee. He bases the 25% off of the overcharged purchase instead of the actual cost. But whats worse is it was never even in stock to begin with. I asked him if he thought it was right that he takes advantage of women and he became super irate and started calling me names insulting my manhood and challenged me to come to his GUN shop and get into some sort of altercation with him. Don it was a simple return of a product we didn't even have possession of. Im curious to see where this firearm ends up like in his brand new section or in the used section where it belongs since according to Don had an original owner already and had to be restocked. Anyone who recently purchased or purchases a Glock 43 hopefully asks that question you deserve to pay a used price as he already made close to $300 on it. So like i said there are many other shops that will be more than helpful in finding you what you want without taking advantage. And their inventory is poor so be prepared to move onto another shop anyway. Look at his own picture he posted of the Python. $2500 lol. Heres an online pic of its true cost. So he got us for just under $300 and we got absolutely nothing in return. And threatened me because I questioned his business methods. Great shop that just opened up in W. Oly. So far I have been in to make a few purchases as well as coming into the shop to have some gunsmith work done. The staff is professional, knowledgeable and friendly, making both the decision process and paperwork a cinch. After waiting in line at Cabela's to get poor service and getting the run-around by other local shops on FFL transfers and orders, dealing with Don at PSA is very simple and straight-forward. I wanted to write about my experience at Private Sector Arms, because I feel like our community might have the wrong idea about this store and the gun-purchasing process in general. I just wanna say, do not judge a book by its cover. I do not know the owner personally, but he absolutely MADE my experience. He is very much about safety and doing things by the book, which I completely appreciate. If you read some of the comments about this store in forums/media, people act like this shop is run by the worst people. I assure you, this is actually a very small, family-owned business and quite the opposite how some people portray it. Let's put it out there--I'm a leftist biracial Millennial woman who needed a firearm for home defense. This was my first weapon purchase as an adult. I grew up around guns so I am comfortable with the idea of them, but had not touched one since I was young, so I was nervous about the process of purchasing one (or in my case, 2) for home defense. Don made it an absolutely seamless and comfortable experience. After scheduling a handgun training course, I did some research on the gun shops around Oly, as I prefer to support local businesses. I have been to Cabela's before, and it is so unwelcoming. Ultimately decided to purchase stress-free through Private Sector's online store. The selection was very good and prices were very fair. I wasn't too sure about the whole background check process-- everything seems to always be changing in WA State, so I was unsure of what I actually had to do to get my guns, but figured I would wait for Private Sector's staff to fill me in. A couple of days later, Don called, told me the handgun I ordered was in and told me to come by and do my paperwork. When I drove up the store, not going to lie, it looks slightly intimidating. It gives the whole "new/modern gun culture" vibe from the outside. I'm used to more of a relaxed gun-culture; more necessity (like hunting), less hobby. But I completely understand why people love guns. Lots of flags and logos on the outside--which I expected because I watched PSA's Youtube videos. Really, not "lots of flags"... just two...lol... and none that I am unfamiliar or uncomfortable with what they represent. I was pretty nervous being out of my element, but I saw an MP coming out with her kid, so I felt so much more at ease. Me and my SO popped in and pretended to belong. Inside, the store looks like a small jewelry or pawn shop, just guns and knives in the cases instead of gold, and rifles on the wall instead of guitars. Some vintage guns on display, which as a history buff, I completely appreciate. We were graciously welcomed by Don, the owner (who may also look kinda intimidating if you are not used to lots of tattoos and the modern biker style), and told him I needed to "do the paperwork". He was very professional, friendly and matter of the fact, which immediately put me at ease. He walked me though the process and told me about the wait times and laws. He helped my SO pick out a firearm while I was filling out my paperwork. Don answered all of our questions without making us feel like dummies. He was polite and accommodating to absolutely everyone in the store, no matter who they were or what they were asking for (and they were busy with a complete array of characters coming in). Don said he would call when my background check was done and hopefully, my shotgun and SO's paperwork would be in and we could pick it all up at once. About a week later (I guess it can normally take 10 business days), Don gave me another ring. Shotgun in, paperwork done, and we could both pickup our arms. Came in that day, and Don produced our weapons, made sure they were clear and handed them to us. All looked great. We purchased some ammo from him, and he answered questions and made some recommendations for types. Ammo was fairly priced compared to the big box stores, and they have a small selection of accessories. Overall, I am SO VERY HAPPY with my purchases and the experience. Than he continued to dry fire my gun until his dad came over and demanded for me to give him a price what I wanted when I really didn't know what they were worth and was one of the reasons I was there. I did a special order for a lower and they called me the moment it arrived to come pick it up. I also had a time that I was needing a basic repair on a rifle. The owner of this store is a liar, arrogant, and is price gouging people. I had my lower sent to this shop because LaRue Tactical had their FFL on file already. Big mistake. I was warned by LaRue Tactical that people are price gouging for transfer fees. I didn't listen. When my lower arrived, I was charged $80 dollars for a transfer fee!! I expressed to the owner that the price seemed pretty steep. He started to pathologically lie, and tell me he had to raise the price because all the other stores have raised the price. He said it would prevent him from having to do so many transfers? Well little did he know, I called multiple shops before I arrived at Private Sector Arms and the highest price I was quoted for a transfer was $30. That's almost 3 times less $. They are selling boxes of ammo for $10 to $20 dollars more than other local stores. They are charging $1500 for an AK that I just bought about 10 miles away at another store, for $1100. When my proceed came in for my transfer. I expressed how I felt about this to the owner. He was on the verge of getting hostile and made nothing but excuses. He says things like, "once we get to know you, we will hook you up". Sorry, I shouldn't have to kiss your ass or be your buddy that you "know" to get a honest price on a firearm or transfer. I am a customer that knows what they want. I spend alot of money on guns and ammo. I will never give my money to people like this. I will also echo the other reviews, that they are extremely arrogant as well. He told me my LaRue Tactical build would be worth thousands and treated me like a high roller. When you can build a complete LaRue rifle for about $900 dollars. Less than what he is asking for a RF cheap AR-15. Shop somewhere else! read more

For not being your typical "gun person" or fitting the stereotypical exterior of what some people might "think" a gun owner looks like, made no difference when it came to how I was treated at private sector arms. I had been looking for something small and affordable for some time but felt like I was not as important of a customer at other places cause I don't have too much knowledge in the area of guns (other than wanting one). The fact that they actually care about what you're looking for and getting it to you for a fair price made all the difference in the world to me. They have a very unique selection of guns, not the typical stuff you'd see or mess with at Cabela's. High end, unique and affordable. Family owned, and very personable which made the experience what I needed to finally drop the money and get a gun for myself, and I got that at Private Sector Arms. I bought a .25 calaber used automatic hand gun at PS and after the 4th clip the extractor broke on it. I took it back into PS and the owner did help me find the part to replace the extractor , but was having a hard time finding the part. So I let a retired police officer and gun trainer look at the weapon to make sure that was the only thing wrong with the weapon. He found 3 more items that where wrong with it. In my opinion I believe this weapon should not have been sold. I am out $150 and a lesson is learn. read more

great shop for true shooters. they got really top end stuff and do decent trades . you can process new gun sale ten times faster than big cabelas . they will also order whatever you want and get it in fast , like a few days. this is the last of the old time personal gun shops, so much better than the big box stores where the amateurs there know nothing about guns , ammo or gears. another plus is the owner , Don, can do modifications on your AR15 while you wait; who can do that for you nowadays? read more

Recently contacted Private Sector Arms by email asking for information on FFL transfers from GunBroker. Received the following email from Don R. Teague CEO. "Yes we do transfers from online purchases. $35 plus 8.8%tax on invoice total including shipping." We made 2 GunBroker purchases. The first we we're charged $35 and the second $50 a few days later when it arrived. When asked about the higher fee we we're told that the rate had gone up but since we we're quoted $35 they would honor that quote, after we had already paid the fees and purchased ammo. He told to come back any time in the next couple weeks and we could use the $15 towards any in store purchase. Stopped by today and the same man completely denied any knowledge of the agreement bluntly stating the FFL transfer fee is $50.00. This used to be our favorite Gun shop in Olympia but no longer. Don't like the shadyness of this sales man. Will take future business elsewhere. read more
