Let me preface this by saying I'm neither a hunter ore an outdoorsman type person. I do enjoy camping but, well, anyway... I found cabela's to be perfectly great both times I visited. The first time was Black Friday when they had a traeger grill with additional goodies for $300+ off. With the additional stuff they threw in it was about $400 in saving. I was also handed a coupon for $10 off. Cool! I went in, asked for grills since I'd never been there, I was lead over to them, and I was out the door in twenty minutes. The employee helped me load it. The second time was because I wanted to buy some snow boots they had in sale for $80 down from $120. To add to that the market basket next door was doing 20% off cabelas gift cards in $25 increments. Score! They didn't have what I wanted in my size but I was able to try the size up and the size down and knew that at least my size would fit. Again the employee was super helpful and pointed out I could order online and get free shipping with a code. Score again! I decided to pick up a nice thick plaid winter coat for $69 down from $110 (and again took advantage of the 20% off gift cards next door). The little cafe inside wasn't bad either. Wild boar sub was great as was the elk salad. Brought some fudge home for the wife as well and she said it was among the top she's ever had (the winner is still Ye Olde Pepper Company in Salem, MA). All in all I have no complaints. I was able to get the help I needed and had overall good experiences. I will certainly be back! Perhaps I will become more of the outdoorsy type too. read more

I went to pick up some items. When I had my items (about $200) there were only 4 registers open and lines had 8-10 people in each. I put my items down where I was standing and left. Besides the long lines, for some reason checking out takes a long time for each person. Sucked. Please open more registers! It's ok. I knew it's owned by Bass Pro. With having the huge Bass Pro in Foxboro this is a mild disappointment. Small kids section, small home section, basically everything Bass Pro has but on a much smaller scale. Lines were also very long with only 3 registers open and a wait time of 20 min. We went to look for a recurve bow. One for myself and one for my friend. I didn't find one for myself but my friend did. The staffs were knowledgeable and were more than happy to help. They let us tested the bow. We had a great time with them even though I didn't get anything. I'm value customer service above all else. This place didn't have more than maybe 7-8 bow, 2-3 that was suitable for me. But the staffs were so helpful and friendly. I swear that the next time I visit there for arrows, if I see those guys again, I'm writing to their supervisor to let them what great staffs they hired. Thank you! read more

Great store for archery and ammo! I bought archery kits for myself and my daughter and the sales associates were very knowledgeable and accommodating. How many pounds draw weight are needed for hunting? What's the best youth bow? Should I make my own arrows? Frequently asked questions such as these were easily answered, and there was no pressure to make a sale. Consequently, I have tried to patronize this store as much as possible in spite of the inconvenience of a one hour drive. They have some good deals on ammo as well; watch the website for occasional specials. I picked up several boxes of 9mm for under $10, probably not the best deal in the world but in the expensive Northeast, it's not bad. I recommend getting a Cabela's credit card and join the frequent buyer club which results in some signing bonuses and some freebies down the line. In fact I got about $30 off my first purchases there, and now I have another $10 coming my way when I head down there later today to get more arrows. It's easy and tempting to order your stuff on Amazon or similar, and I have done so; I did pick up a Predator compound bow from Amazon the other day, mostly because it's such a pain to get to Cabela's from my town and I have little time. But for generally supplying yourself with decent quality gear and accessories, when combined with the buyer's club bonus points, a weekend expedition to Cabela's is worthwhile. It's also a fun store for the kids. An additional bonus is the cafe which features some unusual meats. Just take note that the cafe closes earlier than the store, so time your shopping trip for the lunch hour or thereabouts, to maximize enjoyment! read more

My boyfriend and I went in for the first time last week and we brought our dog. An associate came over to my boyfriend and was very rude, telling us that there's no dogs allowed in the store anymore. Just spent over an hour at cabelas with my wife. She wanted to get her shotgun there but ended up walking out. Despite the weekend and holidays it was not too busy. We picked out the gun, went to shop around and was not told we had to sign into the gun purchase queue. Once we signed in we still waited another 40 minutes. While waiting, we watched someone walk right up and cut us. We told the employees but they shrugged and knowingly did not help. We went to customer service to see if they could maybe help but when they called the gun manager he said he was too busy to talk to us. Will not be back. There are better priced and more knowledgeable local stores around, that will treat us better. read more

I ordered a fishing reel on the 13th of November and received it a couple of days later. Unfortunately there was something wrong with it so I went through the procedure to exchange it. Officially there was another order for this item 11/19/16 after I spoke to someone on the phone (recorded call). This reel now is obviously a used item, at least as a floor model. The entire reel is full of oil and the writing on the reel which supposed to show the Gear Ratio is completely warn of. I PAYED FOR A NEW UNUSED REEL AND I WANT A NEW, UNUSED REEL. How is it possible that one of your employees sent me a used item?? How is it possible that no one responded to my emails I sent to them ? Worst Customer Service !! I'm a new trap shooter Need to buy a shotgun, know what I want. I went to the gun counter in Berlin for some advice, maybe a casual LOP measurement, chance to check my options there. The guy at the counter basically walked away from me mid-sentence. Could not have been less interested, blew me off. I would say he was rude but that would suggest he was slightly engaged. He was comatose. Hey, Cabelas, even in Massachusetts there are lots of other options for buying a gun. I'll be looking into them and avoiding your sleepwalkers. Quick edit: I went to Kittery and bought a new gun there. The selection was much broader, the staff was engaged and awake, and I avoided the MA sales tax by taking delivery across the river in NH. My local Cabela's in Berlin, Massachusetts is now stocking a variety of used MilSup as well as other used guns. I went into the store today to purchase a Brno Mod 2 in 22 LR for $379. I looked thru the rack and found a gun with nice medal and wood. The bore looked good too. I proceeded to buy the gun. I have a Mass LTC and have never had any difficulty making a purchase. Unfortunately, Cabela's has a new policy passed down (supposedly from the Bass Pro management) - the trigger locks don't come off until after the purchase (which is "as is") and you have left the store. I asked to at least feel the trigger - no go. Then I was asked to sign a document agreeing that the sales team had demonstrated and explained safe operation. They had not yet shown me- so, I asked to be shown how the safety and bolt release and safety work. I believe that this is required by state law and is also store policy as they were asking me to sign that they had shown me. The hitch is that you can't demo those without taking the trigger lock off and they had been told they would lose their job if they did so. So we were in a deadlock and I left without the gun. IT APPEARS THAT CABELA'S CANNOT/WILL NOT SELL A GUN WITHOUT REMOVING THE TRIGGER LOCK AND REQUIRES THAT YOU SIGN A DOCUMENT ATTESTING THAT THEY HAVE DEMONSTRATING THE SAFETY FEATURES WHEN THEY HAVE NOT. They have the gun and my phone number. I can go back if they call. Otherwise , no reason to go. There were other guns I liked and I plan to buy a boat in Spring 2019 - but it will have to come from somewhere else. read more

I'm surprised that people find the staff pushy. I found them just the opposite, to the point of being invisible. I went in to buy a pair of hiking shoes & was able to try on some clearance shoes that were out, but there wasn't a soul around to grab any non-clearance shoes for me. Okay, no shoes for me. Then I went to look at some binoculars and, after waiting around looking expectant for a while, I finally caught the attention of the guy behind the counter. He ambled over, grunted "Help ya?" and showed me the binoculars I was interested in. And when I say "showed me" I mean just that--he never spoke another word, just handed a couple of pairs to me. I try so hard to buy local and support my local economy. Unfortunately, this store prohibits me from doing that. Once again, I was forced to walk out of the store as nobody there helps at all. I stood at the gun counter again for 20 mins for the old geezers who have nothing to do in their retirement work the counter. They move like molasses and are just grumpy and have absolutely no desire to move merchandise. After 20 mins and watching 2 of them walk away; I gave up. It's Amazon again for me. I hate it, I do; but this worthless store leaves me no choice. I can order online and have it delivered before these guys ever get around to asking me what I want. So sad. Scope is right there, 10 feet from my reach. All I need is someone to grab it and bring it to me. Nope. If you pick up ammo, you'll wait forever to pay for it. They ONLY open another register once 6 people are in line. And a single person in line generally is a 5 min wait. So expect to wait 20-30 minutes to check out. Why? What are these check-out clerks doing when not checking people out? Certainly they aren't helping people in the store. This store is terrible. I hope it closes. read more

So, This store as the best cashiers I have ever experienced, friendly, quick and knowledgeable The in- store pick up is another story. When I started in the line for in store pickup, the man at the front had been waiting for ten minutes. Associates keep walking by and promising help. When I got to the front, I was confused on the number of items that I had waiting, to which the associate went through my order, with the comment ' whatever that is' after every item. I know retail is a demanding field, and working after the holidays is not everyone's cup of tea. However, this was a less than stellar experience. Stopped by here last Saturday afternoon (October 19) because I needed a new pair of sunglasses and was curious as to what other outdoor gear the store had to offer. What I encountered was basically a Donald Trump rally in the parking lot. There were multiple trucks decked out in full MAGA garb with megaphones playing Trump music (whatever that is) and MAGA people roaming the store with Trump 'superman' garb on. Many guests were uncomfortable with this and were leaving the store very quickly. I was considering buying a $200+ pair of sunglasses but decided not to based on the environment. I mentioned the situation to a cashier as I was checking out (buying a bottle of water) and she said she felt very uncomfortable too. Totally inappropriate to promote politics in and outside of your store, especially those of a POTUS who promotes racism and division in this great country. Will never step foot in a Cabela's again and will recommend others not to. End rant. read more

Very nice decor (mounted mammals, fish, game birds; large live fish tank) that was expensive to build. Worth it to take the kids there to see just the displays. Prices I thought were very expensive. Staff constantly eyeballing you like you are going to steal everything not nailed down. Cashiers' were friendly, but the floor staff (dressed like park rangers) were a little pushy. Easy on/off the highway (Rt 495). Worth visiting again if you are in the area. read more

Great service and products. Came in for a cheap surf casting pole and got a great deal on a 10 foot for under 70 bucks. Also scored two life vest for 10 bucks each. Everyone was super friendly. We just came here for the first time tonight, it's exactly what you would expect from a Cabelas. Prices are higher than a discount store, but so is the quality. Beautiful layout, interesting decor (aka taxidermy), well designed with excellent restrooms and easy-to-find departments. I shop here a lot for ammo, the selection is great and the prices are alright for some calibers. I have spoken to the gun counter clerks twice and both times they didn't know about the firearms they stocked. Asked the woman there about a Remington 870 model and was told it was not MA compliant despite it being sold at almost every gun shop in MA (including this cabelas). Second time I was misinformed on a Henry rifle, politely corrected the clerk and he seemed upset. The handgun selection is small and everything is set at the MSRP or above, so if you're looking for a fair price go elsewhere. read more

Worst customer service I ever had at Berlin Cabela's last night! We usually love going to this store as the prices are usually right and closer for our drive than Bass Pro. We drove 40 minute to Berlin store to use Christmas gift card with my husband who a disabled but avid sportsman. The Store was pretty quiet, not nearly as many customers as our usual trips. Shopped for about 30 minutes and got in line at about 6:30. There were only 3 registers open and one closed when we got in line. There were about 8 people left in line at each one. By 6:45 when only 2 customers had gotten checked out ahead of us, my husband was getting frustrated and wasn't going to be able to physically stand in line much longer. There seemed to be a lot of employees around the store, so I went to check at C.S. desk to inquire about more registers being open. There were at least 8 people in line there too, with one employee helping everyone. Clearly he was also frustrated by the answer, with attitude, I got that, "he didn't know, they were supposed have opened more already and I would have talk to the manager," like I was supposed to be able to find one on my own. Isn't that kind of the definition of customer service? I returned to my checkout line to see an employee near there. I asked if he was the manager (yes) and that we had been in line for over 20 minutes, would there be more registers opening, we would be leaving with no purchase if not? He said he was "lane busting?" with attitude like that should be good enough! We stood in line a couple of more minutes, put down our merchandise, and left! There was a little comment from the manager, "sorry folks" on the way out. No, here is a coupon for your next visit, how can we make this up for your return. GREAT management! This was very hard on my husband who has been a Cabela's die hard customer since the days when the only way he could purchase was mail order before there were stores in New England. Unfortunately, I can only say that the lower cost and convenient distance of the Berlin Cabela's will be outweighed by the fabulous customer service and his ease of getting around for a visit to the Bass Pro in Foxboro or Hooksett. There is also the added bonus of taking the half day trip to Bass Pro and being able to bring my dogs instead of leaving them home that long. FYI: We are older 40/50 somethings, I am an avid online shopper and have only ever written one negative review online. I typically brush off these kinds of experiences and spread positive comments, but I will be posting and messaging this letter to my FB friends and as many "Yelp" type pages as I can find. I am really disturbed by this whole experience as, having limited mobility, there are few things my husband takes such interest in as supporting his joy of being a lifetime sportsman. We arrived that evening being very excited for the clearance sales and his hope of coming away something great. This was really a disheartening, and unrewarding experience. #Cabelas read more
