Received AMAZING Customer Service. I ordered two large river tubes online. Tamara, the Cabelas Berlin MA rep at the pickup desk, asked if I would like her to inflate them for me. I was so grateful for the assistance and her thoughtfulness in offering. She helped me to the car with the inflated tubes and then wished me a wonderful time with my family! Made my day! Wow, this place has everything under the sun! Went on a Saturday and the place was packed. They had a friendly gentleman greet you as you walk in. My brother was in need of some pants and shirts for a weekend getaway. They had a great selection of Carhart clothes and of all sizes. Hard to find a large selection of sizes but they had it all. They have multiple dressing rooms as well. I was in awe of all the items they sell here. If you're an outdoor enthusiast, this is your place! A nice place to bring the kids as well, lots of animals all over the place. Felt like I was at the San Diego Zoo. They also do licenses here as well, this is truly a one stop shop. Cabela's supports RVers and campers by permitting overnight parking in their lot. Hooray as I wanted something a little different instead of the usual highway rest area, Cracker Barrel or Walmart parking lot. The "RV parking only" area was easy to find, over to the side. I arrived well after closing time and departed well before opening time, so I did not have an opportunity to thank them for the free parking with my business. I am an Asian American and it was very clear that staff were unwelcoming to me and my family. The greeter ignored my Asian American husband, who had said hi to her. I walked right behind him with our child and she looked down, but we could hear her loudly welcome the people who were right after us. My husband also looked at the glass display and was ignored by staff while others were being helped. We had never been to a Cabela's but I have no desire to come back after it was so blatantly clear that we would not be treated equally. read more

It's not this store but the online shopping. I placed a big order for Christmas with them. My card went through and they charged me. A few days later I get an email that there is a system error and they could not process my payment however, on my statement, they totally did when I called the company. They said that they could not find my payment in the system. I had to call my credit card company to have them cancel the transaction because they were explaining to me that they could not do it on their end since they did not have the card number very sketchy stuff that my husband tried to do the same thing and he got the same error email. Not a lot of selections in fishing department. I understand it is right after pandemic but they need to stock up on things. I go there to get fishing gears and I am not seeing much of new stuff. Thomas in the fly fishing department (I think that's his name) was extremely helpful to a beginner like me, explaining the different leaders and lines and getting my old fly rod lined up. He helped set up a loop to loop connection and now changing out a new leader is too easy!! Before this year I wouldn't see anyone in the fly shop or even the fishing area sometimes, so it's nice to have someone that knows fly fishing around to help. read more

This is your average outdoor sporting goods store. It's beautiful inside and is a pleasure to walk in and see the different taxidermy that they have around the store. Their fish tank and displays are beautiful. They have a huge selection too! The downside is their prices are fairly high. When you find something on sale it's usually worth it! I also love that they have a small cafeteria with game meat sandwiches. I think this helps make this store more of an attraction and just fun to visit. Usually the service at the cafeteria is lacking and it seems like it's where they send the disgruntled workers to spend time as a punishment!! Overall this is a nice store... read more

First of all, great place to visit and look at all the taxidermy and fish tank. Even if you're not into anything related here, it's worth to come in and check it out. Next, the workers here are very knowledgeable and professional and they really do help and there are plenty of staff on the floor. I mostly come here for fishing gear, and they have a great selection of everything, but of course at premium prices. You can get a rod and reel at the same price as anywhere else, but they get you with the other gear you need to buy. Obviously not my first choice to buy gear like weights, lures, lines, and hooks, but they got them at your convenience. Just remember you're paying extra for their rent, utilities, and all those animals... Also, I don't know if what they tell me is the truth or not but having been here quite a few times and buying a number of different things, each time a worker has told me that they have the same exact pair of boots, or the same exact rod, or the same exact reel, etc. I suspect it may be a marketing strategy but it would be nice if they were actually being genuine. Do not buy a boat from Cabela's!!!! I recently purchased a $40,000 boat from this Cabela's and took it on a family vacation up in northern Maine. The first day out on a big lake the boat broke down. My wife and I were left adrift in the rain for more than 2 hours. We finally got towed in and as it was the weekend I had to look at my brand new Tracker tied up at the dock for 2 1/2 days of my vacation on Small Mouth Bass Heaven of a lake. Monday I trailered my boat 2 1/2 hours down to Bangor to have the problem diagnosed and repaired. It turns out the electronic connection for the fuel pump had been disconnected. I did not disconnect this. Quick fix and I drive back another 2 1/2 hours to camp. No problems since. When I bought the boat, I ordered an extra seat which the salesman told me would be around $300-$400. After returning home I received a call from parts telling me my seat was in and it cost $900. All the while I was talking to John Adam's the service manager and he felt bad and said he was going to take care of me for my lost time on the water and the inconvenience of driving 5 hours for the repair. I was offered a $150 Cabela's gift card and they would sell me the seat for $550. Do the math, they are essentially selling me my seat at the high end of what I was quoted and leaving me with nothing for my trouble. I then spoke with Fred Fortier the sales manager. Zero people skills, rude, interruptions throughout the conversation and would not improve the initial offer. In fact, he rescinded it. Terrible customer service. Trying to have two fishing poles exchanged purchased with cash. I am currently in the store at Hudson, Massachusetts looking to have an exchange or returned for merchandise credit. The Return Policy Procedures clearly says "Without a receipt: Items returned without a receipt will be processed at the lowest sale price plus applicable sales tax. Such items may be exchanged for the same product or returned for merchandise credit in the form of a Cabela's gift card." The Customer Service Lead at this time denied my request to have my fishing poles exchanged. I was hoping the store would honor its policy. read more

Worst selection of fishing and hunting products out of any Cabela's store I'v been to. This is a glorified clothing store with a fish tank. Multiple times I have checked inventory online, then called to confirm, show up to the store and the items can't be found. Employees look in the system and in stock room and come up empty handed every time. I was able to get a particular dog kennel, that they carry and many pet stores don't. I spent more time browsing everything outdoorsy than in the dog department. I was very excited when Cabelas finally opened after waiting an eternity. For years I've ordered exclusively online as there's wasn't a store near me. The selection, price, and quality of their online store is fantastic. The store is a disappointment. I was looking for an ultra light, 4'6" Fenwick rod for trout fishing. I asked one of the burly guys who were standing around the fishing counter doing nothing. I was instantly told "They don't make them that size." Uh, yeah they do. When I brought a pic of it up on my phone his fellow employee chimes in "Ok well we don't carry any that size." I searched through the rods and finally found the rod I was looking for, the exact one these dopes said they don't make/don't carry. The same day I went over to the shoe department to look for a hiker in size 14, something I can always find online. After waiting an eternity I finally drifted into the "employees only" back room to find the two shoe employees basically hiding back there doing nothing. They couldn't be less enthused about helping me. On another occasion I sent two emails to the service manager in boating regarding dropping off my outboard. Never a reply. Here's the problem....it's a huge store and it seems they simply can't find enough knowledgeable outdoor enthusiasts to work there. The selection is still great with lots of big and tall sizes. Come here quite often for sporting goods, it's usually decent priced stuff and it's closer than the nearest REI. I really like the atmosphere with all the taxidermy animals and the huge fish tank. I also appreciate that it is a pet friendly store, my dog loved coming in here to look at the fish. First off COVID friendly and honestly my only complaint about the store is that it's not open later. I shop there frequently, so to see some of these reviews that are so negative, I feel like during these times they are doing everything they can to provide the best service possible. There are many staff members who I can consistently find easy to locate because of the uniforms and the abundance of people they have working there. When I have a question, if they don't know the answer, they typically will help me start looking in the general area while they try and find an answer to my question. I read a comment on here that stated how they weren't greeted at the door, and I don't know why that would've been such an issue, if you really need someone to greet you every time you walk into a store to remind you where you are and can't go about things yourself, you're most likely to get lost in there as it is because they have it all. Short and sweet, never had a bad experience in this store and I always feel like even if I see a team member I don't typically recognize, I have been treated with the same amount of respect and quality service from every single one of them and I look forward to the next time I go there because how could you not? read more

Very disappointing. Ordered a catalog item (catalog arrived the day before) from Cabela's (I'm a 20+ year catalog customer, and live next to the store where I shop weekly) which was a $400 tree stand, stated to include a camouflage blind and shown in pictures with said blind. Item arrives - no blind. Sorry, Cabela's says, it was a typo and the blind is sold separately... I'd still like my blind; I was promised it, and I paid for it. "Well, we can get it for $50... no wait $100. I'm sorry, flip to this page in the catalog, that's the blind and we can get it to you for $180 mind you it's usually $210" - Excuse me? I've got the catalog in front of me, and that item is marked $150! I refuse to pay for an item I already purchased and was promised; I might concede to paying a small fee (for example the $50 first accidentally offered) but certainly not full price or anything close to it. It's insulting to offer it to me at a $20 markup over your advertised price. Poor business practices and very little respect for longtime customers. Perhaps this is due to the recent buyout by Bass Pro Shop who have always been rude, inept, and not deserving of my hard earned dollars. read more

When I'm in store I love this place and all of the staff, but GOD forbid you need to call the store, especially the Marine, ATV, and service department. I bought a boat through them, because Ranger boats are not sold at Bass Pro Shop, which I live two miles from. I have over an hour drive to get to this Cabelas. I bought a pair of hiking shoes here and they gave me two different sizes. They realized this happened and set the other box aside but when I came back they had lost them. I came back a day later to exchange/return the ones they gave me and I waited in the shoe department for 30 minutes and even asked the guys In fishing if they could find somebody. And they couldn't. Customer service didn't know what was happening and also had to track somebody down to figure out what was going on. Worst customer service here and very unprofessional. This location is one of the reconfigured smaller stores as compared to the behemoth locations built in the 90's and early 2000's. Hello. Just back from Cabela's where I purchased 2 pair of shoes for $229.98. The young man in the shoe department was extremely helpful. The customer service representative who rang up my sale was likewise very helpful. But then there was HALEY - who ruined the entire visit. I'm surprised I actually bought the shoes. Thursday night, Hudson, Massachusetts, at 7:45p. There was one register open. Twelve people were in line ahead of me. The 2 customers immediately in front of me dumped their purchases and walked out exasperated. I looked over at the service desk and Halley was standing there doing nothing, so I walked over and asked If I could purchase my shoes there. With a look of disdain, Halley directed me to the one cashier. I explained that twelve people were already in line that wasn't moving. Halley followed me over to the line, and when I turned around, she was gone. Back to standing doing nothing. So I asked her what the story was and she made it QUITE CLEAR that she was not a cashier. I asked if she was the manager and she wouldn't say. Maybe Hallie should be a cashier. Someplace else! I really don't have time to be doing this. And I never do. I went there looking for fly fishing equipment. Their selection of fly fishing equipment is not that great, I would say they have a average selection. Where I will offer the most positive feedback is for the young man who helped me pick out waders. I was actually surprised by his advanced level of knowledge on all things fly fishing. He stayed with me the whole time I was trying on waiters and boots and answered every one of my questions. For the few questions that he did not have answers for, he went and found someone who could answer my question and in another case looked the answer up on the Internet. "Experts" there to give advice have limited/contrarian opinions and are bad listeners. You can't really "touch and feel" many of the products in a meaningful way, if that's your goal for going to a store, rather than buying online. Such a waste of time. Unless you know exactly what you are going to buy and need it immediately, I don't see a benefit of this place vs. Amazon. It is totally understandable that going into the store at this time is by appointment only. We called ahead of time to book our appointment and told them that there would be 2 of us. We drove 40 minutes to get there for our appointment to be told "well I didn't write your name down so you can't come in only one of you is allowed". I think its totally unacceptable considering we made the appointment in advance. The gentleman at the front door did not have to be so rude about it. I will not be shopping here again. read more

Gun library: Unsatisfactory customer situation. I have a federal gun collectors license, a MASS LTC and am an NRA firearms instructor. I wanted to see an M1 Garand in the gun library as a potential purchase. I asked to see the trigger group of an M1 to assess its correctness. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked to remove the M1 stock to confirm the barrel date. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked to measure the muzzle and throat erosion to assess the wear. NOT POSSIBLE. I asked if the gun was in working order. "DON'T KNOW, IT'S SOLD AS IS". Appears they are targeting inexperienced potential buyers with over priced guns and not allowing knowledgeable potential buyers to accurately assess such guns' realistic value. Hunting, Camping, Fishing, and uhhh Shooting? While Cabela's has these four major departments, it has MUCH more. Cabela's is one of those really unique places that may look like (from the outside) just a store, but really is an experience. This may be true for Bass Pro Shops too, which I've never been to, and have no desire to go to, but I'm a Cabela's fan. This place is truly outstanding. For any of their four departments (hunting, camping, fishing and shooting), they have anything and more you could ever possibly need. So many cool items I've always wanted. I could spend DAYS here just searching and searching for cool things. The shoe section is great and the clothing section is also outstanding. The variety is great... there are more than one of everything. They have a cool candy section (saltwater taffy!), a quaint, modernized cafe, and sculptures, fountains, and one of those interesting 51 cent machines in the back of the store. Employees do LURK around the store constantly (-1 star), I even think I saw someone with an "Asset Protection" shirt on. They didn't say anything to me, but certain employees did look sort of annoyed in general and possibly pushy (like another review promotes). The guys at checkout were very friendly though.... What people need to realize is that the prices are high because the quality is high. If you are going to buy a tent here and a tent at Walmart, obviously the one from here will last longer and be a better quality. Sort of like LL Bean, and I'm sure if you have the proper receipt it will be replaced. Overall, I will making another trip up to Cabela's at some point.... and definitely dropping another few hundred dollars. So much unique stuff! Like I need more stuff.... read more
