Our refrigerator s..t the bed recently on a Saturday morning and because of its age and how short the life expectancy is on a refrigerator we headed out to buy a new one. We first stopped at our nearest big box home builder's store and although they have plenty of refrigerators they don't keep any in stock, the earliest delivery was about 5 days out. We couldn't manage without a refrigerator for that long so we left and went to check other places. We had never been to Whitco, but I thought we should check them out as I had heard it was a good place to get appliances. Whitco didn't disappoint, they had lots and lots of refrigerators from lots of different manufacturers. The best part was most were in stock!! Yay!! We selected our new refrigerator ( and they were a much better price than the big box store). I will definitely drive out to Whitco the next time I need an appliance! read more

A small mom and pop type appliance store but they have a huge selection and the service was great. They are a little old school with handwritten receipts you can barely read, but also very personalized and will answer all of your questions honestly. We purchased a new washer and dryer spent around 1500 etc.. Bought the parts that are needed to reconnect both washer and dryer.The truck arrives here today and they reeked of weed. It was ridiculous when they open the door I thought it was a scene from Cheech and Chong ! They didn't have any of the parts to accommodate us that we paid for them. I understand things happen and if you wanna smoke a blunt do it way before you got here or after that is not good PR for Whitco. read more

I had bad experience with Whitco Sales in the past With my Washer, they didn't install correctly and the person that came to deliver and install was rude. But I thought I would give them another chance and support to support the local new business. I just called today 08/11/24 at 11:27am. I asked if they had Ge Dishwasher Portable, and gave them the model number. There is no need to install this kind of machine because it's not the ones that you put under the sink. and just connect to the sink faucet when it's time to wash the dishes. The man said I had to pay $200.00 for deliver, take my old machine out and instal. He was rude again and left me on the phone while he answer another phone call. I needed a dishwasher. Mine was put in when I redid the kitchen in 1990. Even though, my dishwasher needed to be replaced, I put it off because of all the government rules that made them more water efficient but less washing and drying efficient. I have been to family and friends homes and saw how the dishes had to be hand dried because their dishwasher didn't dry them. My old dishwasher finally broke, so I went to Whitco. The salesman immediately approached me and asked what I was looking for. He showed me one dishwasher from hearing my needs, (No whistles and bells, must be efficient, dry thoroughly and priced reasonably), and that was it. I went to the desk, paid, got a delivery date (2 days later) and was on my merry way. I was probably in Whitco for 20 minutes. On delivery day, the two delivery men were efficient in removing my old one and replacing it with the new one. It took them time to hook it up. They were very careful and made sure to clean up. Insulted in my home by the delivery man when I asked why he didn't have a mask on. Literally told me that masks don't block dust or coronavirus because "he knows best". He did put the mask on but to say "listen lady" and then lay into me with his non mask wearing opinion was inappropriate, wreckless and unacceptableI. I've been a customer for 17 years and unfortunately will no longer deal with them. Shame. My husband left a similar review and a response said it was a lie. He doesn't lie and neither do I. The place is cluttered, if the owner cleaned and organized updated his inventory to the 21st century. he prob could make more money! But, I degres.... First I purchased a refrigerator and it came all dented, they sent a rep that was the same and when I called the owner gave me the run around and said I'll look into it and get back to you. After nearly a week of playing phone tag with the owner I finally get the actual refrigerator I bought but this time when they delivered it then dented up the wall but the worst part was the delivery men... there were 2 that came and the small skinny one with the glasses was incredible inappropriate talking about things that shoul not be spoken about in polite company. He was vulgar. And they both smelled of marijuana. this is NOT how you conduct business. I will NEVER buy appliances anywhere else as long as a live close enough. 2 years ago I purchased 6 appliances for my new home and they priced matched or beat every price from Lowe's and HD. They also had everything in stock or able to get by the delivery date- which was seamless! After 2 years of helping us with an ice maker issue, which was impossible to deal with Samsung directly. Whitco handled all the communication and tried every option twice. Ice maker didn't work, but because we reported in the warranty time originally, gave us a full credit toward a new fridge. We initially were going to buy from a big box store. After consideration, we really wanted to support a local business. We had a couple hiccups but they really pulled through. Honestly, you can get better pricing and service here than any chain! Even if it was a few dollars more, I would still use them. We bought a full set of kitchen appliances. Their website says click here for pricing, you click and no one gets back to you. There is a text option. No one responds. When I nicely mentioned that to the sales person he snapped, "Guess we are too busy." Found the appliance I wanted and told them I was ready to buy. No one wanted to check me out. Customers everywhere and 3 people at the front desk on the phone. The store is so jammed it is difficult to navigate. Between the lack of response and lack of customer service I have no idea how they stay in business. I will return to Sclamos where they treat customers well. read more

I just bought a washer, and it was the easiest appliance purchase of my life. I used the web site for the store, received a price quote for considerably less. Plus the delivery men, they were supposed to deliver between 11am and 1 pm. They arrived at 11:25am. Installed it, removed my old washer in 15 minutes it was awesome. We purchased a fridge from this store 10 months ago. This week, the fridge started malfunctioning. Not the store's fault. The repair guy, after looking at the fridge, informed us that it was over two years old and most likely refurbished. We bought this fridge thinking it was new, for the very new price of $1200. Repair guy said he sees this all the time when on service calls for appliances purchased from Whitco. Now I am fighting with the manufacturer trying to get the needed repairs covered under warranty and wondering what recourse I have. We went to this store because we wanted to shop at a local business rather than the big box stores. Well, this place gives the good mom and pops a very bad name. I should have trusted my gut which said "run" when I saw how cluttered the place was. I am a wheelchair user and could barely get though the front door. Not sure why the fire marshall hasn't shut them down yet. It's really dangerous. If you want to shop local for your appliances, go to Penney's in Sturbridge. That's where we would have went but they happened to be closed over the July 4th holiday and we were desparate. read more

I just moved to Spencer and I thought it would be a great idea to support a local small business. I have been in the store before with my mother-in-law so I was prepared for the tight quarters and packed shelves. I wasn't ready for the way, my spouse and I were treated. There was only one sales person and that guy was helping someone else. As we walked by for the fifth time he mentioned that he would be right with us. We where looking for a dryer and only a few had prices so we had to get someone to help us. We waited at the front of the store as the other areas where tight and uncomfortable. I was looking at some stuff on the shelf and then the sales person came over. He was quite abrupt and started to readjust the items that I had been looking at on the shelf. In a huff, it was apparent he wasn't approving of my messing it up. I soon figured out that he just didn't like us for some reason. I told him that we where looking for a dryer and he immediately said " Well, our cheapest dryer is over 300 dollars. That's all we have.". It was obvious with his demeanor and the way he presented this information that he was not interested in our business. He assumed that we couldn't afford it and didn't even attempt to find out if we could. Little did he know we could but didn't want to spend that much on a dryer. If he was a good sales person we may have bended on that. He just dismissed us and didn't give us a chance. It was very upsetting to be treated that way. I will NEVER go there again and in fact, I will make a point of telling people not to go there. We did go to Dave's appliances in Brookfield and let me tell you...What a difference!! They were extremely pleasant and offered information on the dryers and they also had some refurbished dryers. They were quite accommodating and I will recommend them over Whitco any day!! read more

How is this place not a fire hazard? A safety hazard at best. You have to duck and turn sideways to get down the aisles. The outside is also an eye sore. It takes up so much of the block that they ought to take some pride in being a local community business and spruce up their curb appeal. It makes the center of town look like dump. My wife and I have bought several appliances at Whitco over the last 3 or 4 years. Washer, Dryer, & Oven/Stove. The best thing about the place is it's no muss, no fuss, and very competitive prices (as compared with other B & M stores as well as the likes of Amazon). The owners will give you a run down on what each item will and won't do and thankfully there is no high pressure sales tactics or push for one to buy the ever dreaded "extended warranty". Whitco won't win any store glitz awards, but the bottom line is you can get what you want at a decent price. As a matter of fact, they go out of their way to be sure that my purchases are delivered promptly and installed properly. It does get hectic there but you have to be patient. Whitco is unlike any other store I've ever been to. It is very "Central Mass" and definitely very old-school. The place doesn't look all that big from the outside, but it is a maze like environment, with inventory stacked high up to the ceiling. I recently bought an LG 37" 1080P LCD TV there for $399, when the absolute lowest price listed anywhere else for this model # was $529 - Amazon, Best Buy, and plenty of online retailers I've never heard of - none less than $529, and some over $650. The owner has been in the store every time I've been there, and he has been very helpful. I highly recommend Whitco to anybody in the general Worcester area looking for appliances, TVs, etc. They also sell lots of bikes and toys. read more

My husband and I went to Whitco to purchase appliances for our new house. They had the best prices and a great selection but it took them two and a half weeks to deliver. We were told that things would be delivered within the week. It ended up holding up our builder and the signing process. Communication was not their forte either. Absolutely first class. Ive bought two entire appliance sets from here now. The first time I did more research and running around price checking than any normal human being ever should. My last stop was Whitco. Bill worked with me on the prices, beat every place I had been to, and got me a tremendous amount of mail in rebates (around $700 if i recall). Delivery crew as well was top notch. Joe brought everything in without a single glitch or mess whatsoever. After the job was done he took us through the operation/features of every piece of equipment, (all the way down to maintenance and changing filters/parts as needed) and even gave us pointers on how to properly clean them so you dont get streaks on the stainless steel. Haha. During this time we were in the process of moving in. Before leaving, the guys helped me carry a few dressers and heavier items upstairs. I even recently had a malfunctioning dishwasher...after 2 months of fighting with LG and after 5 repairs, i called Bill. I had a new dishwasher in my kitchen in 4 days...11 months after the purchase.
