7/27/2014 Called…read moreGordon to fix a gas oven that wasn't working. He arrived and 9:30 and gave me a call at 10 to say it was fixed. I asked him how much for the repair and he said $240. I told him that was awfully high and he said it was $100 for the labor and $140 for the oven ignitor. I told him I wasn't happy with the charge but I'd pay it and I'd no longer be doing business with him. He texted me about 15 minutes later and said he had looked up the part cost and it was actually $100 so he'd settle for $200. He didn't want to wait for me to mail the check so I told him to drop by and I'd give it to him directly but I wouldn't be doing business with him anymore. Meanwhile I checked cost of stove ignitors online and found most ran between $25-$35. When he arrived I gave him his check and told him most ignitors were $25 but according to him this ignitor was $100. Since this was a basic GE stove I have trouble believing that was true but gave him the check and called it a day. After discussing with my wife, we agreed to get the washer repaired. He had the part with him and got to work to replace the part. In addition to making the repair well, he spent time to check that the washer worked after replacing the part and that it did not leak before closing the washer up.
