They have a nice selection of skateboards for sale and they also do local maintenance on them. Civil was created by Guido Silvestri and Rob Asselin in 2006. After many years of working in retail, the two founders imagined a store concept outside the realm of the traditional skate/snowboard/surf shop. The vision was realized in 2007 when the first Civil location opened in East Greenwich Rhode Island. Since then they added stores in Providence and Westerly Rhode Island.....this particular one is on Westminster St, Providence downtown. Their product mix at each one of their stores varies to suite the three distinct locations: in the city (Providence), on main street (EG), and by the beach (Westerly). Civil also has a private label collection and they have been honored to collaborate on projects with elite brands including Nike SB and SLVDR. They support local ripping skateboarders and snowboarders, including the notorious Yawgoons. Since they opened, Civil has been involved in the local skateboard and snowboard community by hosting and sponsoring contests, demos, park cleanups, video premiers, and other cultural events. The staff is young and very hip. Mostly guys in their 20s that love skateboarding, so they know their stuff when asked questions. Their prices are really good! I was just planning to buy wheels, but I also ended up buying laces and a skate wrench. As you can see from my other reviews of other bike shops, I've not had the best of luck. From stores that only push certain brands to stores that treated me great til they got my money.... it's hard in today's day and age of the internet where to go and how you will be treated. Let me tell you the guys at Cutting Edge have been hands down WONDERFUL at every turn. Not only did they more than willingly go thru bikes with my husband but also with me. The fact that they were so thorough and knowledgeable about the bikes they have, including my current riding disciplines. They have a varied selection of all kinds of bikes and if there is something you're interested in but don't see, just ask. They also have a used section that is available to the public. So what makes these guys great? They all have their own personalities and talents, but they are so harmonious and that's rare and lends its self to a lack of competition against each other for sales and puts the customers needs and wants first!! An equal great point is they are able to point out things to me that helped my cycling and make suggestions without being overbearing or putting sales first. These guys know how to generate true repeat business by fostering real relationships with every customer that comes in. Which is why on the third visit there we felt more than comfortable to trade in my husbands bike and upgrade him to a full suspension bike! He ABSOLUTELY loves his new bike and they just turned my bike from a 2x10 drive train to a 1x10 drivetrain and for a more than reasonable price!!! Craig this is how you do it and other businesses could learn from you, but they just don't even fit in the same category as you and your store!!!! Bought 2 shirts for good money and they both shrank a whole size in the laundry (cold wash, tumble dried low). Terrible value, terrible experience. Never giving this company another dime. You shouldn't either.
