The last time I went to C-Lovers in Abbotsford was when I was with friends and their kids, which was a very long time ago. When I went there today, the establishment looked a little more sophisticated and cleaner. I was also with my father this time. I ordered the Chicken Strips while my father ordered the All-You-Can-Eat Fish & Chips. The coleslaw that came with my entrée was pretty solid while the fries tasted great on their own. The chicken strips were made the same way they make their fish. Nonetheless, they were pretty good. My father liked his food. He even let me try on of pieces that I thought tasted good. When I had them before, they long thin strips of batter. Their menu is somewhat minimal with only a few appetizer choices and mostly deep-fried seafood. I thought the service was admirable and had no complaints that came to mind. C-Lovers is not the best place for Fish & Chips; however, it is one of the better restaurants out there. We are regular customers of C-Lovers. Starting in March 2020 with covid restrictions in place we always went with our masks on. We had purchased our masks from a fine dining restaurant that we went to during the pandemic. The mask is frequently used by servers in restaurants, even in some fine dining restaurants, which C-Lovers is definitely not. When we went for dinner last evening, Sept. 5 at 5:30 we both had our masks on and we sanitized our hands. The employee informed me that I had to wear a mask. I pointed to my mask and said that I was wearing a mask, she said that I had a face shield and it was unacceptable. Someone should explain the difference between a face shield mask to her. The manager was out. The handling of this situation was totally unacceptable. I've been here many times during the pandemic with this mask and there has never been a problem. I've never had a problem with my mask at any restaurant. To say that this was a humiliating and embarrassing situation is an understatement as there were a few customers in the restaurant witnessing this exchange. I also found it very disrespectful. I will not set foot in C-Lovers again and will not give them any more of my business. Any business that humiliates and disrespects me is not deserving of my business. read more

We have been to this location many times, and the servers have always been cheerful, and the service has always been very good. Considering the nature of the food served, they have managed to keep the place clean and pleasant...and recently added new booths. We always order the "All U Can Eat" option even though we eat less than before. read more

I have been a customer at the Abbotsford location for almost 20 years and have always received amazing service. However after 20 years on April 10 2024 I purchased 2 fish and chip specials 2 1/2 pounds each but this time I took it home to have as my Birthday dinner with family and friends and all of the fish was loaded with bones. I called the Abbotsford location and told them what had happened and they said we are so sorry for all the bones in your fish and they asked for my name address and phone number saying they would happily fully replace the whole meal which was absolutely a stand up thing to do and I agreed to get at a later date. Well Today June 25th 2024 I called to use the credit for the full meal they said they would replace after all it is $115 we are talking about only to be told so sorry you're only going to receive a $15 dollar Voucher not the $115 dollars for the meal. This is absolutely ridiculous and unacceptable. I told my Pastor what had happened with this and he shared it with the congregation. If anyone wants the $15 voucher it's yours as I nor anyone from my family or friends will ever have a need to use it. They have lost my 20 year loyalty. read more

We went here for a family all you can eat dinner. This place has this done right to a T. Your first platter has FIVE PIECES OF FISH!! FIVE!! And a huge pile of fries. All cooked to perfection. Great attentive service, the Fish is cooked perfectly, moist on the inside and crispy on the outside and delicious. The fries are also nice and crispy. The tartar sauce is nice and they have all the fixings. We highly suggest going there to anyone who likes fish and chips! read more

In my opinion, their oysters are awesome. They taste fresh, and they are not overwhelmed by the batter. My parents, a good friend of mine, and her kid like the regular fish and chips. I also want to add that Nadine is a wonderful server, very pleasant and attentive. They get four stars instead of five from me because the guy who served me the one time I went to the the take-out line was not very friendly or helpful--but he did cook up some damn-good oysters. read more

This place has seriously gone downhill. If you like the ambiance of an overcrowded high school lunch cafeteria than this is the place to go. Reviews are from previous years, but thought we would chance it. Big mistake. Overload plates with limp fries. Fish is in fingerling strips, that offer up more batter than fish. The fish itself is bland to the point of being tasteless, with an off-putting, gummy consistency and an aftertaste of grease. After our disappointing experience, a local friend steered us to the Bow & Stern restaurant in Downtown Abbotsford...Hallelujah!!! The difference was night and day. I feel the need to do a follow up as lately this famous place has some issues that seem to be rather unfair to the seniors and others that has just came to my attention: Aug 2010 I and a party of 6 others had all you could eat fish & chips. 3 person /s were seniors. Came time to leave- Seniors have tea (Our severs not once mentioned this was not part of the deal- all you can eat, drink included) They only had one plate couldn't finish didn't want to waste so asked for a bag to take home. Now that part was ok... If only they had first plate but because others had seconds they couldn't allow this!!! 3 seniors were charged for their cup of tea because they didn't have soda pop ..... wouldn't allow them to take home their first helping : Due to the fact is others had a second portion. I went to talk this out with the manager and he was rather rude and couldn't even allow the tea .... BILL WAS WELL OVER $ 75.00, and we were regular customers! I felt this ordeal has put such a bad rinse in my mouth that as good as they may be to treat customers this way is uncalled for and because of there cheapness they have lost us. This is a really great place to come and enjoy some tasty well prepared fish and chips. It's open concept leaves it bright and spacious feeling. The staff are very friendly and are really attentive. Great for bringing the family as they do have child options. The all you can eat is a really great deal and they offer a pint with the all you can eat for a couple of bucks. Even when it's bustling and busy, the place runs great. Always a good experience. read more

First time coming to C-Lovers in Abbotsford. Service was excellent! My brother & I ordered Onion Rings, Mushrooms & Clam Chowder to start. Then both of us each ordered the Cod Platter (3 Prawns, 2 Oysters & 1 Cod with Fries & Cole Slaw). The food was delish & filling. Both of us almost didn't finish our meal. I have been going to C Lovers for about 10 yrs now. I used to think they were the best in town but after my last 2 visits, most resent tonight I don't think I will return. The quality and portion size of the fish has diminished. The shrimp now comes to your table not deveined. When told the manager about shrimp veins on last visit, he says that's how they come. Tonight waitress says that's how they come. WTH. Nobody wants to eat shrimp poop. Also they have raised the prices by a couple bucks. More money, lower quality. Won't be going there again. Service was friendly and helpful. The Takeout special had 23 pieces of cod and enough fries for three people. It could have easily fed six. The batter was light and lovely. Coleslaw was well done also. Overall a great surprise for a very reasonable price! read more

We have tried many fish and chip shops all over and this turned out to be very good. I read some reviews before going and some were good and some not so good. I chose the all you can eat cod and chips for 13.95. Service was great and friendly, order was taken promptly and the portions were good. Bottomless pop along with as much fish and chips that i could eat. What more could you ask for. Next time i will have the beer with it. Great place. Keep up the good work. read more

We were seated promptly. Menu's were given right away, drinks ordered and received very quickly. Our order was taken and brought to us I'm sure within 5-10 minutes, it was very fast. The food is excellent, and are huge portions. The prices are probably comparable to other restaurants, but is much better than other restaurants. Absolutely horrible. Ordered some for take out and a 2 piece cod and fries does not come with tartar sauce. I ordered 2 tartar sauce and it was mayo with a bit of dill and that's about it. I have been to this location twice now during my stay. The first time was a Monday and it was not overly busy. The second time was a Thursday and the place was packed! On both occasions I was quickly greeted and taken to a table. When I saw how busy it was I thought I would be in for a wait, but tables seem to turn over quite fast. The dinner rush began to calm around 6:45 so that sped things up as well. As has always been my routine, I ordered the all you can eat fish and chips. By far the best bang for your buck. Service was very quick. I had a smiling server who seemed to enjoy her job. My drink was quickly brought to my table while I waited for my meal. Teamwork seems to be a big part of the success of this location. The servers helped each other out with food and drink running. Not something I would expect, but pleasantly happy to see. When my plate arrived, it was fresh from the fryer. I could feel the heat coming off of it on my face. That's a big deal for me. I know it hasn't been part of a large batch that was cooked in advance of an order. I tucked into my piping hot fish and chips, slathered in tartar sauce and malt vinegar and just couldn't stop. The fish tasted fresh, had no fishy taste to it at all and again, it was hot. A few minutes in, my server checked in to see how I was doing and offer a refill on my drink. As I continued to make a my way through my plate, it soon was gone. My server must have radar, because only seconds later she was at my table from across the dining room to offer me more. Again, I received a piping hot plate of fried goodness and I was happy. When that was gone I noticed her heading my way, again with the radar! I declined another helping and settled up. On dec.6th. I phoned in a order for 2- 2piece dinners. When I went to pick them up I waited for half a hour while other people came in and ordered and got there order before me. I complained I he said sorry. 15 minutes later I got my order. I took it home and when I opened them the wrapping was soaked with grease. The batter on the fish was real soggy and the fries were the same. I was the worst fish& chips I have ever had!! I will be sure to tell all my friends and relatives.
