Kelly at the front is perfect. No notes: she's 5/5 with customer service…read more Terry in the key island? Not so much. Before I even interacted with him, there was a guy with no name tag on the other side of the counter in front of the register, so close I could have tapped his shoulder, who completely ignored me for several minutes. Eventually, Terry came around the corner and asked if I was being helped. I said no, I just need a duplicate key. I followed him to the other side of the island and gave him the house key I was having copied. No sooner had I handed him the key then he took a personal call on his cell phone. He was on his cell phone the entire time the key was being made. I was flabbergasted because given the white ponytail hanging out of his hat, I judged him well old enough to have customer service ingrained in him, but this old-head Terry showed less respect to me as the customer than the average 15 year-old employee I see bagging groceries. He slipped the new key into the bag and handed it to me with no break in his phone conversation. As I walked away, I decided to compare my key with the duplicate Terry had just made. The match was COMICALLY different. My biggest regret is that I didn't snap a picture of it for this review, but suffice to say there's no way the duplicate key would've opened the deadlock I need it for. That's actually very concerning because I'm relying on this duplicate to let me in to someone else's home to feed their cats while they're out of town. The wrong key would make it impossible to feed them. I went back to Terry and he was still on his personal phone call. Seeing me again, he wrapped up with "I love you" which confirms the nature of this call, and gave me the undivided attention that would have spared a revisit in the first place. I held the two keys together and told him I was skeptical the key he had just made would work. He took the keys in his hand, agreed and cut me a new key. When not on the phone, what do you know? he was able to make an identical duplicate. The key was just over five dollars, which feels like a fine value. The only reason I'm doing two stars not one is because Kelly was so great welcoming everyone in and checking out at the register.

I purchased a washer on 7-28-25 at the Colonial Heights store. I was told by the salesman that the…read morewasher could be delivered to my house the following Monday 8-4-25 for an additional $169.00 or I can be picked up on Friday 8-1-25 from the store. I chose to pick it up on the 1st because I needed a washer Immediately. The salesman said they would call me when it came in. Friday came and I never heard anything so I called the store at 2pm and spoke to the salesman again and he said the washer would not be here until Monday the 4th. I expressed my dissatisfaction with my service because I had scheduled help to get the washer into the house on Friday and I had no way of getting the washer in the house on Monday. Again, I was told I could pick the washer up on Friday. The salesman said there must be a misunderstanding. I asked to have a discount on the washer because of the inconvenience and the salesman said he gave me the sale price. The salesman then told me he could give me my money back as a resolution to the problem. I then asked to speak to a manager and the salesman said he would be here on Saturday. I called on Saturday and spoke with a manager and explained the situation again. I asked the manager if they could waive the delivery fee since I had no one to help get the washer in the house and he said he would do it for $129.00. I then said if you could bring the price down to $100.00 I would except that. The manager said he could not do that. I told the manager that I have bought appliances from them before and bought numerous appliance parts but obviously my words fell on deaf ears. I then told him to cancel the order and I would call him back on Monday to give him my credit card information to credit my account. I called on Monday and spoke with the salesman again and gave him my information to return my money. He said he would take care of it. I checked my bank account on Thursday and the money still had not been returned. I called the store again and the salesman said my account was credited on Monday and it may take 2 to 3 days for the money to clear. He said if you don't see the money in your account by Friday to give us a call. I finally got a receipt for the transaction on my phone Friday afternoon. I then called my bank to verify the transaction and they told me that the transaction was actually done on Friday and not on Monday like the salesman said. I know the customer is not always right every time but when you are told that your money has been returned and it hasn't, you can pick your washer up on Friday and you can't. Then you are told you must have misunderstood what was said. If they are willing to lie about when your money has been returned to your account would they also lie about when the washer was supposed to come in? Integrity is everything!!!! I have done business with The Appliance Place for years and I have bought a Refrigerator, Dishwasher and numerous appliance parts from them with no problems. My family has also done business with The Appliance Place before but after this experience neither my family or I will give The Appliance Place our business or recommendations any more.

I had hired Absolute Stone Design in the fall of 2025 to repair an issue with my granite counter…read moretops having an uneven seam. They sent out two guys to repair my countertop. Only one of them spoke English. None the less, they were able to fix the issue. Fast forward to February 2026 and the issue with the uneven seam returned. Apparently, the fix didn't stay. Spoke with Renee at Absolute Stone Design and explained the issue. They sent two technicians to my house to repair the issue. This time neither one of them could speak or understand English which made it very difficult and problematic to explain what needed to be done and what my wishes were. Me and the technician ended up having to use a translator app on our phones to communicate which was quite time consuming and only prolonged the issue of getting my countertop fixed. After 20 minutes or so of back and forth trying to explain what the process was and what my expectations are the technicians began working. They put some sort of device that straddled the seam and using suction moved the two different sides of granite to make the seam even. The whole process took a little more than an hour. Once they were done, they seem to pack up their stuff in a hurry and left. Now my wife and I didn't stay in the kitchen the entire time and watch them work. Once they left, my wife and I went to dinner. Once we came back and closely inspected the work, that's when we found the damage to our countertops. They had put a hole in our stone and tried to cover it up by putting some kind of filler in the hole hoping we wouldn't notice it (see pics). I was able to scratch out the filler with my fingernail. I went to the Absolute Stone design office and spoke to the owner and explained the issue of what happened and showed him the pictures of the damage. His response at first was denial and then asked me how do I know that wasn't there before they started work. Then he tried to explain how the stone is old and brittle. He tried to explain away a couple of different excuses so as to avoid responsibility. After a little further explaining my position and how I don't buy his excuses I advised him that I am not paying the $300 fee he wants for the work as I am not paying them $300 to come to my house and damage my granite and then not offer to fix it. The owner was OK with that. He also advised me that he would speak with Renee about the issue and someone would be getting back with me the following week. That didn't happen and no one called me. Only after I received an invoice in my email (about a week later) did I call them back and speak with Renee and explained again what had happened. I could tell from our conversation that no discussion was had between her and the owner. I also advised her that I was not paying the $300 to them after they had damaged my granite. She understood and was OK with it. Now here we are a few weeks later and I get a call from a young girl at Absolute Stone Design inquiring about the $300. I again had to explain to this young girl what took place and for her to speak with the owner and Renee. I also explained that they sent two technicians to work at my house and neither one could speak or understand English. Her reply both shocked and surprised me as she said in an indignant manner that "I don't see what that has to do with anything..." and before I could explain, she hung up on me. Having been treated like this by Absolute Stone Design, I would not recommend doing business with these people as they are not very customer focused and apparently are OK with sending technicians to fix your problem without even being able to communicate with you should you have concerns or questions. And it appears that their staff are not properly trained on how to provide quality customer or show any empathy towards a customer who has experienced issues with their work nor do they seemed concerned in any way on offering to make it right. Buyer Beware!

I had clearly…read moreexplained the issue over the phone and even offered to send photos beforehand, but that wasn't taken up. When the technician arrived, I showed him the small plastic latch piece that had broken off. He only briefly looked at the washer itself and quickly concluded that the issue required a full lid assembly replacement costing around $400-$450, along with an $80 service charge for the visit. Afterwards, I purchased the replacement latch part from another appliance store for about $13 and replaced it myself in a few minutes after watching a repair video. The washer is now working properly. My concern is that the specific broken part I identified was not really evaluated, and the diagnosis felt very quick given the simplicity of the actual repair. I understand technicians rely on experience, but in this case the solution turned out to be far less complex than what was quoted. Overall, I left feeling that the issue wasn't fully considered, which led to an unnecessary service fee and a much more expensive repair recommendation than was needed.
