I had hired Absolute Stone Design in the fall of 2025 to repair an issue with my granite counter tops having an uneven seam. They sent out two guys to repair my countertop. Only one of them spoke English. None the less, they were able to fix the issue. Fast forward to February 2026 and the issue with the uneven seam returned. Apparently, the fix didn't stay. Spoke with Renee at Absolute Stone Design and explained the issue. They sent two technicians to my house to repair the issue. This time neither one of them could speak or understand English which made it very difficult and problematic to explain what needed to be done and what my wishes were. Me and the technician ended up having to use a translator app on our phones to communicate which was quite time consuming and only prolonged the issue of getting my countertop fixed. After 20 minutes or so of back and forth trying to explain what the process was and what my expectations are the technicians began working. They put some sort of device that straddled the seam and using suction moved the two different sides of granite to make the seam even. The whole process took a little more than an hour. Once they were done, they seem to pack up their stuff in a hurry and left. Now my wife and I didn't stay in the kitchen the entire time and watch them work. Once they left, my wife and I went to dinner. Once we came back and closely inspected the work, that's when we found the damage to our countertops. They had put a hole in our stone and tried to cover it up by putting some kind of filler in the hole hoping we wouldn't notice it (see pics). I was able to scratch out the filler with my fingernail. I went to the Absolute Stone design office and spoke to the owner and explained the issue of what happened and showed him the pictures of the damage. His response at first was denial and then asked me how do I know that wasn't there before they started work. Then he tried to explain how the stone is old and brittle. He tried to explain away a couple of different excuses so as to avoid responsibility. After a little further explaining my position and how I don't buy his excuses I advised him that I am not paying the $300 fee he wants for the work as I am not paying them $300 to come to my house and damage my granite and then not offer to fix it. The owner was OK with that. He also advised me that he would speak with Renee about the issue and someone would be getting back with me the following week. That didn't happen and no one called me. Only after I received an invoice in my email (about a week later) did I call them back and speak with Renee and explained again what had happened. I could tell from our conversation that no discussion was had between her and the owner. I also advised her that I was not paying the $300 to them after they had damaged my granite. She understood and was OK with it. Now here we are a few weeks later and I get a call from a young girl at Absolute Stone Design inquiring about the $300. I again had to explain to this young girl what took place and for her to speak with the owner and Renee. I also explained that they sent two technicians to work at my house and neither one could speak or understand English. Her reply both shocked and surprised me as she said in an indignant manner that "I don't see what that has to do with anything..." and before I could explain, she hung up on me. Having been treated like this by Absolute Stone Design, I would not recommend doing business with these people as they are not very customer focused and apparently are OK with sending technicians to fix your problem without even being able to communicate with you should you have concerns or questions. And it appears that their staff are not properly trained on how to provide quality customer or show any empathy towards a customer who has experienced issues with their work nor do they seemed concerned in any way on offering to make it right. I am SO happy with my bathroom countertop. Melissa helped me. She found a remnant of Silestone Stellar Snow in the Tile Courtyard. I was thrilled. I'd seen a sample of it at Home Depot, but my project didn't meet their minimum. Went to another shop in Powhatan; they were super nice but a bit pricey and their product was a fabricated copy. (I wanted Silestone for all the right reasons.). What really impressed me: 1) Melissa didn't charge me for the circle cut out I wanted in the top left corner - (for trash!); 2). Gonzago was so polite, knowledgeable, patiently measured and convinced me to get the matching backsplash. Glad I did. and lastly, 3) The install team was polite, efficient and filled in the glue where I thought more was needed. (Keep the lady happy!). I've referred Melissa and team once. They have great product but the installers were not so great. Did not caulk the seams of the marble counter and back splash in the bathroom which caused water damage on the wall. We could not figure out what was causing water damage until we realized they had never caulked the seams. Customer service said it was not their problem since a year had lapsed (because of the pandemic). Some businesses will never learn - if you don't correct your mistakes you leave a customer feeling bitter and disinclined to visit or recommend ever again. read more

We contracted for a vanity top. Template for the measurements was done by a professional contractor and was submitted to the company. When we got the vanity top back the dimensions were not correct. The workers misread the dimensions on the template and top did not fit properly. When I talked to the owner, he indicated that they should have done the measuring. However the dimensions on the contractor's template were correct. After some discussion the owner said they would redo the top but at a cost of $500.00. So it cost me $500 more than what I paid for the original job. Not good business practice or customer service!! Will not go back and will not recommend using this company. Burns G. read more

Our experience with Absolute Stone was very negative. After picking out a granite I offered to pay for it so I would not lose this specific piece. Christine told me that was not necessary, that they would absolutely hold it for us. I went back to look at it again and at that point Christine told me they had sold it to someone else. I asked why they didn't hold it like they had promised and especially since I had offered to pay in advance. They told me to just pick out another granite as though it wasn't a big issue or inconvenience. Absolute Stone is extremely unprofessional. I wouldnt waste your time or money with this company. The quality of the work was good, the customer service was not at all. Each time we went in the receptionist seemed bothered that we interrupted her phone screen time. The outside salesman we worked with was helpful, but very difficult to get in touch with. When we went to confirm the piece we selected, our tags had been removed from the pieces and we had to select a new piece. The outside salesman was not in the day we went back to confirm our selection, and the other salesperson was not helpful at all - since it was not her commission she put in as little effort as possible. We had to make several phone calls/emails and with the lack of response it became a time crunch to get the top made in time for my contractor, even though we started several weeks ahead to allow time. During the cutting process, the piece for the backsplash broke and they were not able to make another because they did not have any more matching material in stock. I had to buy tile at the last minute that my contractor installed instead of the side/backsplash out of the counter material. Overall - we like the finished product, but would go elsewhere in the future due to the poor customer service. read more

THE WORST! I'd give them a zero if I could. They installed on Thursday (ORDERED THROUGH LOWE'S). Sink is supposed to have a 1/4" reveal. It's 1/2" in spots and covered by the granite in others. They gouged out the middle of my custom made maple cabinets after we routered out the top so the sink could drop in as per there measurements. I was told by Tony that this is standard for larger sinks. Well someone should have asked before they destroyed my 3/4" thick custom cabinets. Lastly they drill the sink holes when they get to your house instead of in house. They had my sink and the holes don't line up. This is my 4th week without a kitchen sink. My sink is ruined as well as my cabinet and they are not willing to make it right. read more

Jennifer P. Customer Service is void in this establishment. Stephanie was nice up until they received my deposit for the work that was suppose to start the time schedule for the job. Four days later, an employee came out to measure (per Stephanie this was the start of the 4 week time period, per the web site it's the deposit). I was surly informed that it would be 3-4 weeks and possibly sooner by Stephanie. Two and a half weeks after the measuring I called Angelo accidentally only to be treated angrily by him for even calling that number, I apologized for not knowing this was not a number associated with the business as I had thought and used it initially to get hold of the business. Angelo abruptly and rudely let me know that I was to use another number. I then called Stephanie to check on the status of the order, she told me that she had already told me it would be 4 weeks and these calls bothering her were not going to help. I reminded her that I had paid the company money and I have the right to call and check on status as often as I want. My husband tried calling to check on status about a week later, he had to call Stephanie 3 times to get hold of her (left messages each time asking for a return call). Stephanie informed him that they were polishing the granite at that moment and it would be ready the follow Mon (exactly 4 weeks from measuring, not down payment). Monday comes and goes without the promised call from Stephanie, so my husband calls several times leaving messages each time, finally he gets hold of Stephanie on Tuesday when she complains to him about how hectic it has been for her but she will schedule to install Thursday or Friday this week. Big surprise when we get scheduled for Friday at 3 to 5 pm, Thurs Stephanie calls my husband to ask about the sink. I recheck the receipt and find that we were charged and I did indeed tell Stephanie that we wanted the sink from them (I had even sent her the picture of the composite double sink we wanted). Installation had to be moved to Sat. The installers were the best part of the company, they were honest, helpful, and courteous (Stephanie had given them a single tub composite sink to install). The installer called the company to report the mistake and compensation was given. The Monday after the install, I called to report a .25 chip and a rough edge the needed a service call. Stephanie asked for pictures, I sent them and stated that pics do not reflect how bad the chip is. Stephanie did not even give me enough time to send all the pics before responding that none of this requires them to come out! I will never recommend these people except maybe the installers. read more

Beautiful selection but be careful if you have to reserve for a custom home. After giving such a sparkling review earlier I became very disappointed after spending so much time choosing the right stone for my nine foot island. I chose a high end quartzite. It was tagged, reserved and ready to go for the builder. The builder was ready to install but when I called to have the slabs ready for pick up, I was told another salesperson sold it even though it was a confirmed and reserved sale with me and my husband. In other words look for something else. After I spent hours and days making a choice on one stone. They searched as well but couldn't find one matching the one I chose previously. I began looking myself in their warehouse and when I discovered one of the same slabs, I was told the owner was reserving it for himself. I finally went all over the place and found another 2 slabs "similar" from a manufacturing company. This new company promised to wait for our builder and I signed a contract to reserve the slabs. Very professional and they reserved those 2 slabs for us as promised. I contacted Absolute for pick up but I was disappointed to have my phone calls not returned from Absolute Granite's sales representative. Never "verbally" rude but totally ignored every return call until the builder's staff interceded. The stone was finally picked up by Absolute from the reputable manufacturer. The installation went very well. Absolute has a large selection, just don't reserve unless their process for reserving stone slabs changes. Really frustrating process for us. read more

Original appointment cancelled without notification. I would have never known if I hadn't called to ask what time I should expect them to show up, since it was an hour and a half past the appointment time. I'm still waiting for the cutting board that was included in my quote. Also, the dishwasher was never secured back to its spot, and now moves if you push against it. When I went back to ask about it, employee told me "look underneath to see if aluminum strip is there. If so, you can just screw screws right in there." Now why would I, the customer, do that and possibly crack the granite? Customer service changed once money exchanged hands. Now that the job is done, somehow cell phone calls, voicemails are not returned and people are now unavailable. Would not recommend. read more

If you want poor installation followed by even poorer customer service, then by all means use Absolute Stone Design. They installed on the 1st of August and there were several issues including the fact that our counters have a dip in them at the seam. They kept telling us they would only fix the reveal around the sink, even though they ruined our granite composite sink and custom maple cabinets. They came out on the 13th to supposedly fix reveal. Their installer stated that it could not be done and would cause further damage to sink and cabinets. He spoke with Tony Ariza the account manager and he stated he would call us in a few minutes. That was two days ago and nothing. We went back to Lowes and ask that they pull it out and have another company replace sink and counters. We don't want THEM COMING BACK AND DESTROYING MORE OF OUR KITCHEN. :( read more

If you go make sure you use Casey as your salesperson. He is not pushy but he knows his products and very easy to work with. The installers Jose #1 and Jose #2 EXCELLENT. One fly in the ointment - Brandi the scheduling clerk. The WORST!!!! Called to say I was scheduled one day between 2:30 and 4:30. No one showed by 4 so I called her and her answer was "what do you want me to do?" I said find out if someone is coming. She lied (according to my installers) saying she could not get in touch with her crew and hung up on me while I was waiting for a response. I called back and she said they finally got back to her and could be there around 6:30 pm. I think NOT. I told her the next AM at about 10 is good for me. She became extremely rude and finally told me I needed to talk to the manager, Val (OWNER) I said fine and she hung up. My husband called Val and he was assured someone would be there between 10 and 11 and we would be compensated for MY time waiting. The installers got there at 11 but NO DIRECTIONS and no idea about my job. One started tearing out the old countertop while the other went to the shop to get the materials for my job. Jose #1 said we were NOT on the schedule for either day???? He was wonderful. He was excited with the granite we chose and both he and Jose #2 did excellent work. Val reached an agreement with my husband about compensation and I received a bill via e mail with our last name spelled differently on each line! Must have been Brandi, She needs to be fired! she is the fly in the ointment and the bad seed at Absolute Stone. Would recommend them to anyone but buyer beware you have to deal with a nasty lying schedule CLERK who thinks she runs the place. Everyone else classy and knowledgeable. Absolute Stone failed to follow their own template for the granite countertops. The result was a new stove/oven would not fit. The stove space should have been cut to accommodate a future 30" wide stove/convection oven, and they cut the granite at 29.75" for the front of the opening and 29.50" at the rear of the opening. This opening was fine for the older stove, but not the new one. Absolute stone failed to follow their original design. They changed the dimensions of the job without notice to me, and failed to take my direction to change and enlarge the opening to accommodate a different stove/oven in the future we might choose. We also had problems with them grinding granite in our kitchen during installation. They did not have a dry saw, vacuum cleaner for cleaning-up granite dust and/or ventilation gear. I had to clean-up after their people and absolute mess. They are quick and cheap but not very good. I would pay a more fore better, cleaner and more reliable. I do not recommend them. read more

Absolute Stone Design just finished installing granite countertops in our kitchen and we can't be more pleased. It was a very simple procedure. We visited their showroom south of Ashland on US 1 and Bob Herndon answered all our questions. Then we were directed to the stone dealer to select our slab and that information was faxed over to Absolute. Then Gray from Absolute came to our house and measured the countertops and made suggestions about edges and trim. We sent in a deposit and the countertops were ready in less than a week. They then scheduled a local plumber to disconnect the sink the morning of installation, they came in after and installed the counters, and the plumber returned the next day to complete the sink hookup. They made very little mess and cleaned up after themselves. All of the people we dealt with were very nice and friendly. The work was done perfectly and the installers arrived when promised. The big surprise is that they are less expensive than Lowe's or Home Depot because the large boxes do not install the counters themselves, they subcontract to Absolute and others like them, so they have to mark up the price to make a profit. Some of the big box stores have the stone cut in North Carolina or elsewhere, then shipped here for installation, which may or may not be perfect. Absolute uses the very slab of stone that you select and cuts it themselves at their premises in Ashland. Our kitchen now looks like a million bucks and I can't believe how easy it was. read more

Absolute thieves!!!! Save yourself a lot of trouble and avoid letting this company anywhere near your wallet and your home at all costs. Apparently one owner was in a horrible accident and is unfortunately not able to oversee operations right now, and the other owner is using the opportunity to try and cut corners and get away with everything he can at the customers expense. Let's start at the beginning- contacted them for a quote. Dan gave me a rough quote based off our measurements what each of their 5 levels of stone would cost. Armed with that information, and not seeing anything on site I loved, I was told I could go to the Marva showroom down the street to look. I recorded several pieces of granite with warehouse locations that my husband and I liked, and Marva faxed the list with their prices to absolute. Absolute in turn emailed me listing off which cost levels each choice was. We chose black wave, which was listed as a level two, and Dan was sent out to measure. When I never received the final quote I called back(I gave them almost two weeks as I didn't want to be impatient, but was attempting to get my kitchen done while I was still on a school break). It had been sent to the wrong email address, and was then sent. I noticed there was labor charges, which we had been told was included in the price per square foot, but assumed it was for removal and was anxious to get scheduled, and unfortunately did not press the matter further. We found out later, if you added the labor costs and the price per square foot, you got the amount of a level 4 stone- which apparently black wave was. We would not have chosen the stone as a level 4, but I chopped that up to lesson learned, look closer and question more. I paid my deposit, and the week of installation went to Marva with paint samples to match up to the stone, as we were painting our cabinets. I was shocked to find out that it was not on hold for us, two out of three slabs were on hold for someone else, and absolute had nothing on hold for us! According to absolute, there was a miscommunication, they hadn't realized I chose a slab, they had that color in their warehouse in Richmond and were planning on using that. When I said that wasn't acceptable, I haven't seen that slab, they called Marva and put the remaining slab on hold. (Which they promptly returned to Marva upon delivery and used their stone anyway, outright lying to me). Well, on installation day, they immediately realized the first corner was measured and therefore cut 1/2 inch too short. I asked how they would fix it, after all the slab they used left no extra! (It was 57sq ft and our kitchen required 52). They assured me that the stone they had in Richmond was the same lot (of course it was because its what they used in the first place!) and they could install 3 days later. We negotiated a price break in exchange, since we now had three days we had to feed 4 people eating out every meal. Three days later they arrived with a very mis-matched piece of granite. I was told that even though the installer brought the other pieces back for them to match up to, the fabricators chose to be lazy and not do so. Back they went. The next day I was told the couldn't make it, and the day after they finally arrived at 9pm to begin the install. If I had sent them away (everyone was sleeping) it would have been another 6 days before they could install, so I let them. They finished at midnight, and did a horrible job. The installer even told his wife, the secretary that he expected to hear back from us!! The stone was scratched and cracked, the cuts were chipped and jagged so the seams are horrible, and the stone is more than 1/2 inch away from the wall in many places! What's worse is that they used thinner material than what I was charged and paid for- on purpose. The owner literally told his staff to do it and if we caught it then he'd deal with it then. I have been asking for the owner to call me for over two weeks now. He has not. He told his staff to offer me either a refund or to choose a different stone (there is no more of this color readily available). I don think we should have to pay the same cost for a second choice stone, especially after this holding up our home going in the market for a month now, and feel like the least he could do would be to call me personally. He still has not, and will not. Well a representative offered us both a refund and the work done and we accepted, (that was more than what we were expecting but we're happy they were taking responsibility for their actions, and thought that was fair.)only to be called the night before and told "sorry can't do that". He had two weeks to talk to his boss!! The night (8pm!) before we are supposed to have new installed is when you tell me! All of this stress could have been avoided if they had measured correctly, used the correct stone, and been honest with us, but every step of he way they have lied, and tried to cheat and in my opinion ste read more

I just built a new 3000 sq ft house and had Absolute Stone put in the equivalent of 7 full slabs - 6 of quartz and one of granite. It involved kitchen, two bathrooms, laundry room, dining room, library and powder room. Some of the work was very tricky- like a quartz backsplash with faucets and knobs coming out. I spent a LOT of time finding these guys, getting competitive quotes, etc. In the end, they were the lowest price AND they did outstanding work! They gave good design recommendations, showed up on time, did high quality work, were easy to work with, and made recommendations to improve the overall job. I never felt like I was being pushed. Overall, I dealt with 8 different people in the company, from the president on down, and not only the designers but the people who implemented it and the front office people as well. I never had a single problem and my wife and I love the work that they did. I never, ever, write reviews but they did such a great job I had to say something. read more
