Black lady judge said that by me allowing them to put the clear coat that a verbal contract outweighed a written contract in the state of Virginia. So I paid them the other half in court, in front of the judge. They reported unpaid on my credit for the next 7 years. I had my lawyer send them letters. I called the courts, it done no good. I got to explain it every time i applied for something, i had excellent credit other than them. So they got free advertising. He declined stated he would have his man bring his own. Thus it was quite clear they would be suppying all materials. Standard Roofing also implied I should have known about the cost because of YouTube. Really??? YouTube qualifies one to be a Roofer and Roofing rep? The below response by Standard Roofing is simple damage control due to a bad estimate they obviously will not honor. As for the mateial you mention step flashing is less than a $1 a piece. This job requires only a few. So yes I know what it costs and your $3500 quote holds no water besides the cost we home owners see is not the DISCOUNT you get so my adding it up is simply an attempt deflection and yet another untruth by Standard Roofing. Floor Store returned to adjust carpet at the bath threshold where slanted floors left things looking odd. No excuses, no delays, no extra charges. Just a job well-done. 2) Custom area rug -- Love the sisal-look rug which fits my 13'x13' "everything" room perfectly. Got the high end look and high traffic durability I wanted for a great price. Love this indoor/outdoor rug. 3) Shower and floor tile for Richmond patio home -- Project is (still) in progress. From the beginning, I made it very clear that I wanted 100% communication and no misunderstandings. The salesperson assured me the entire project (windows, gutters, shutters, etc.) would take about 2-3 months. I was aware I was paying above average, but I trusted their reputation. That turned out to be a mistake. The problems started right away. I assumed measurements were taken during the initial visit, but they weren't. I had to take time off work for another appointment, and the person they sent was in and out in about 20 minutes. After that, communication completely broke down. I had to repeatedly call just to get updates. Months went by with no clear timeline for installation. Every time I spoke to someone, I got a different answer. The office staff seemed completely disorganized, and emails were confusing or contradicted each other. Eventually, I spoke with managers, and even they admitted there were mistakes and miscommunication. But nothing was actually resolved. When installation finally happened, it was poorly handled. They sent only one person to install gutters, which was inefficient and unprofessional. To make matters worse, they somehow retained my payment information and charged me without my authorization, which is extremely concerning. At one point, a manager apologized but then started mentioning that if I canceled, I could be legally responsible. That is when I completely lost confidence. It felt more like a threat than an attempt to resolve the situation--especially considering they had not fulfilled their obligations despite receiving a large deposit. They later came out to take pictures and "check" the work, but it felt like they were trying to protect themselves rather than fix the issues. I have lost an unbelievable amount of time dealing with this--taking off work, making calls, and sending emails. To this day, I still have an issue with one of the windows. I reached out again and received a response that made no sense, and I still have no real answer. Also, their "lifetime warranty" is not even through them--it's through a third party, which was never clearly explained upfront. Overall, this has been an exhausting and frustrating experience. I strongly recommend being very cautious before choosing this company and considering other options. Look for the response towards any complaints they're completely generic. They don't even give at least any kind of explanation as to why of things occurred. I would take my business elsewhere. You're gonna get robbed. They're charge you an astronomical price for something that anybody else could've done much cheaper.
